I was like wow and my friend was like wow to! | | brent from portland/victoria/australia says (12/Mar/2008): | Halo is awsome i saw it and i was immediately hooked my friends started playing it 24/7 and we stopped only to eat or drink for about 10 mins. I mean it has the best graphics i have ever seen!! my friends and i would like to challenge anyone who thinks that they are better because we are the BEST!!! I like the grunts best cause they say funny things when u start killin them but stop and they run around yelling stuff like "hes after me" or "there everywhere there everywhere". I would recomend halo for anyone for a thirst for killing stuff even though i cant for halo2 to become available i would still recomend halo1 for everyone. my dfavourite vehicles wopuld probably be the warthog and the banshee although i heard that halo2 lets u get into new vehicles such as the gauss warthog(good against vehicles)and the wraith (the thing that shoots big blue bullets). anyone who doesnt think that halo is really awsome they really have gotta get their minds wiped because i think it is a revolutionary 1st person shooter on a revolutionary console. the game is so original like the guns and all the vehicles. U could play it for forever and still not get bored.

| Truly "Combat Evolved!!!!!!" | | Bondosama says (26/Mar/2005): | Halo is truly what the name suggests, which is "Combat Evolved." There are many reasons for this. One example would be all of the cool weapons that are man-made and alien-made. I especially like the shotgun because in multiplayer modes you can shoot at close range and get a kill with one shot. Another thing I liked about Halo was that it has a great Campaign mode, which is more or less the story mode. It's great how they start the game with a level that is a sort of a practice level where you learn all of the basics of playing the game. You learn things like how to shoot and aim in this level. Something else that's awesome about this game is all of the multiplayer modes, such as Slayer, which is a free for all or team shooter. All you have to do is shoot the other players or team, and the team with the most points wins. There's also a capture the flag mode where you have to go to the other side of the map, where the other team's flag is, then, when you find it, you have to go back to your side to score a point. One last thing that was great about Halo was that, since it was only on the Xbox, the creators didn't have to worry about creating it for different graphics engines such as the Playstation 2s. This gave them the ability to create a game that has awesome graphics. That's a good thing since Halo is a sci-fi game. To have a great sci-fi game, you have to have good graphics to go along with it.
Although Halo had many great things about it, there was one thing in particular that I really despised about it. Virtually, you can't play the multiplayer modes by yourself. You have to have other people to play with you because there are no AI that you can play with in the multiplayer modes. This isn't such a bad thing for me, but could be for other people because some people might not have anyone around that can play with them when they would like to.
Even though Halo had one large mistake in the multiplayer mode, all the other good aspects of the game make up for it. Halo is a really great game with a great storyline, and I would honestly recommend buying it. Don't rent it or you won't get full enjoyment out of it. You should really buy Halo: Combat Evolved.

1. It is action packed and has a butt load of guns & Blood.
2. The vehicles are very neat.( I Like The Warthog & Banshee )
3. The multiplayer mode is cool. You may even make you own game.
The Guns where probrobly the coolest part of the game. I could do the whole game with just my handgun. Ive beat the game countless times and I have some advice for enemy's.
1...Grunts. On grunts anything will work. They are very weak but they mostly travel in packs of 3 to 7.
2...Jackals. These enemies are a little tricky. You may rather melee the shield and break it. Or you can use a plasma weapon to burn the shield. They will keep your marine allies busy for a while.
3...Elites.These guys can be very hard. Try to keep a distance from these guys. They come in 3 colors.Light Blue,easy but usually are invisible.Blue, Normal difficulty Elite. Red,Hard difficult Elite. Yellow/Gold, Very Hard & have swords. Most elites have grunts with them. Stay away or kill them with a assult rifle.
4...Hunters. Very hard...But Very Easy. They have big swords and have plasma rockets. They have orange spots on thier back and arm, one shot at this spot will kill him. Sorry but I have to go. I will continue this review some other time. Bye
| the best game ever | | TDA GrEeNtOe from USA says (19/Jan/2005): | all of you people that say that halo 2 is horrible or is bad are nubs. plain and simple, if you dont like halo 2 then therr is somehting seriously wrong with you. i was erading the reviews and one person said that it was average and there were other good first person games(wrong). this is the best game out there. and another one said how his friend likes real sport games and how his friend also thought that aliens were stupid, i agree with him his freind is a fool anlong woth mine he thinks the same way. in my opinion halo 2 is the best game and will be up until halo 3 comes out. i heard it was already was in the making and i cant wiat. and if thoes people that do not like halo 2 dont like it soon i give the advice of seeking professional help> :0 lol. another thing that i thought i should say to all of thoes ps2 and game cube lovers, thoes are geared more towards children and their games are bad, granted they have some of the same games are for xbox but xbox games say ONLY ON XBOC cause sony cannot come up with any thing good, and will be soon out of buisness. and even thought halo one seems so old now that halo 2 came out it is still much better than any playstation or ps2 or games cube.

So maybe my expectations were jacked way too high to be totally blown away by this game. After all I've heard about graphic and game play, I really expected a little more. When I started playing Halo for the first time, I was amazed at just how much the game is JUST LIKE so many other first-person-shooters out there. I've played lots of FPS games. There are lots of other games that rock in the gameplay department, not to mention graphics, sound, story, etc. Sure, Halo is a good FPS, but I just don't understand why so many people are so mezmerised by it.
Over all, Halo is above average in quality. The AI is excellent for both enemies and allies, alike. The graphics get the job done nicely, and in some cases the visuals really excel. But, I have to point out that many PC games, especially ones running with fast CPU's and good video cards, routinely deliver beautiful visuals. And as far as console systems go, the PS2 is gernerally under-rated in its ability to deliver nice graphics. Audio in Halo is above average, complete with nice voice acting. Gameplay is solid and controls are tight. Load times are minimal and generally data is loaded on the fly without breaks in the action. Replay value is undoubtedly high, as long as you're in the mood for some good 'ol FPS action. One thing that has to be said about Halo is that the action is pretty relentless. There's never a dull moment! The story is pretty standard fare for a game like Halo, which is not a bad thing. It's actually pretty original in many ways.
To sum it up, Halo is a great game, but I really couldn't call it the "Best Game Ever".

I've played it every week at my friends house, 2 of which are wordly ranked, 5 and 22 in the world. They are farely good, but sometimes i will beat them. I would get halo of course because of the split screen settings, and/or system link play. The co-op and campaign settings are alright, but ive played better. If you end up getting halo I would recommend going to www.xbconnect.com. It is a live play, that tricks your xbox, into thinking your playing a local system link play, but your hooked up by the internet to other players around the world. First, you log on to xbconnect, ITS ALL FREE. On your xbox you go to system link play. When it says your looking for game, join a server and the map will come up. If you have a mac go to www.postpose.com. Most players are gods at the game, so train hard before you start playing. I hope this was useful. If you want to play me get on xb my name is {eSu}-bilbo-. Good luck and play hard. I hope you've found this forum useful. Also masterchief is not a cyborg, duhhhh, read the books before you say some stuff. They are very good by the way.

I didn't even know what halo was until I went to my best friends house one day. I played halo for a half hour and was a natural for it. A few days later I take back my electric scooter and bought an xbox and a copy of halo. I skipped school the next day because I had been playing halo all night long. And as soon as I woke up I started playing again. I even skipped lunch just to play. Now me and my friends use a system link every sunday and battle 4 on 4. At first I beat the game on easy and it was a snap. But I wanted more, so I started playing on legendary, it was no picnic trust me. Being able to take out an entire army by yourself with just 10 to 20 marines to back you up, IT'S A RUSH!
Some advice for future halo fans who just heard it was good and want to get halo 2,(not that that's a bad thing),before you do that go ahead and get yourself a copy of halo 1. Trust me you don't know what youre getting in to. Basically if it weren't for halo I would not own an XBOX.
P.S. I ofcourse have already pre purchased my copy of halo 2.
| HALO RULES ALL!!!!!! | | A gamer from California, vallejo says (8/Oct/2004): | Halo is the best game ever!! you get to run around shooting these stupid aliens in such rich enviroments. and the music was just simple put amazing. the music is there for the right time in the game. and the weapons are amazing. the sniper rifle is just cool it can kill an Elite in one shoot. the shot gun is the second best gun. it has a scatter shot so it is the most effective against the Flood. the Flood are so damn annoying they come out of friggin nowhere. you are walking down a peaceful hall and then BAM!! you get attacked by thousands of the infection forms. and then the combat forms come out to play. they are not that hard to kill it is just that they tend to reanimate. you shoot him like fifty times he falls down then when your back is turned they come back to life (if that is what you want to call it) and smack you!! and the sniper rifle (unfortunately) doesn't even damage them. so when you find the Flood do not, repeat do not pick up the sniper rifle. now i am just wasting words so i can end this review so how was everbodys weekend.

Halo consists of a large selection of weapons, characters, vehicles, and aliens. (The types of aliens in Halo are Flood and Covenant, all with thier own types and advantages.) Some people get the Xbox only for Halo, and they made the right choice. Halo is worth a check, so if you want an xbox, Halo is the shooter for you. It is rated M for vilonce and blood and gore, but it is a great game nevertheless. you play as a Cyborg Master Chief who crashes on a remote ring world only to discover its contents... Halo is full of suprises, suspence, and even a few comic releifs expireinced on the level 343 Guilty Spark and The Maw. (you might not catch them your first time played. Also these levels are the most suspenceful, in my opinion.) Duiring gameplay, Halo allows you to change guns immedeately, reload, throw grenades, and jump. Also, you have a little A I partner that gives you handy directions to help you out...Except in 343 Guilty Spark, you don't have her with you...
I am 13, and I have to say, Halo deserves a 10 star.

One is that the Marines don't drive Warthogs, which they are trained to drive, but yet they drive ghosts, which is complicated alien technoligy. And on coop my friends always stink at driving so I am forced to drive. Second, the Marines don't use cover, and they get blown up a lot. Basacally, the Marines are the big issue. They must be poorly trained, and I usually kill them and go on alone. They waste greanades on one grunt. And they don't have any courage. On silent cartographer, when I am charging along the beach murduring everyone, the marines are mobilizing against 2 sissy grunts hiding behind a rock. and then when I charge the Elites and Jackals near the structure, they throw greanades in with no warning and the greanad damages me severly but the elites ran behind the pillar. I lost them all thanks to Mr.Mendoza. Other than the Marines, the game is Perfect. The graphiccs make it seem like and interactive movie rather than a game. The enemmies are the smarteset I've seen in a while. At least the Covenant use cover. The flood are some of the coolest but most annoying enemies ever. Every came now has to involve bloodsucking zombies, but these aren't fragile things that walk slower than a 100 year old person. Even the Flood are reativley smart considering what they are. The vehicles are well balnced and there is no best weapon. Each weapon stinks at one thing and excels in another. Except the pistol. Most games make you start out with the pistol cause it stinks, but Halo gives you it because its VERSITILE. You can kill any enemie with it with a little practice. I think if this game had a best weapon it would be the pistol. A scope, fully automatic firing, very powerful and large ammo capacity make it a winner. Any way don't rent this if you play it, buy it, because you'll get hooked in less than a minute.

(Unless you just don't like FPS) Other alternatives: 1. You were abused while playing this game. 2. You have only played it for 5 min. 3. You are someone who sadly mistakes him/herself for a game. 4. You are mentally insane and play games like Tetris all day.
If you have only played the game through easy mode than you have been sadly mislead. If you try the game on Legendary than anyone who has not played it through 5-10 time would have a good challenge. If you have bugs in your game than it is 99.99999% likely to have it JUST in your game or console because I have been playing this game shortly after it came out, and I havent found a glitch yet. As for the storyline, it is already awesome, but if you read a lot like me, than read the books. They fill in the blanks and give more backround. The Graphics are top-of-the line. The ONLY thing that has better graphics so far are PC games simply because they can contain more data. As for some games mentioned such as Perfect Dark and Picmin games... would you actually put this up for comparison??????????????????

Theres a glitch near one of the bases on the right walk up there to snipe, ( Squirrel Spot )
ALWAYS use a pistol for fighting anywhere head shots kill like 200 times faster than rifle,
When shoting a rocket delay yourself 3 seconds to where the target is,
When facing a Mammoth ( tank ), grab a ghost is availble the speed of the ghost has the advantage plus you can do tricks of the mammoth!,
On Ice take a warthog on the ice alone with full power then jump out give it around 2 seconds then press X youll be in the gunners seat with the warthog moving,
Even without the tips THis game is really fun and 1 played mode gets boring but multiplayer kicks major ass.

| One of the top FPS games I've ever played | | Ben McElmurry from Brodhead, Wisconson says (28/Jul/2004): | I've played games since I was 4 or 5, now I'm 15, and To start off I didn't really support x-box at all seeing as I'm a Nintendo fanatic... but the 1st time I actually played Halo, it was with 11 people, and I had a blast, in fact I stayed on it for 9 hours straight. I stopped because as we went on, people would stop playing and would go upstairs to join the cast party for the musical... otherwise I would have been on longer... Now, I can't say it's the best game because I sometimes want it to have things that other games do have, like AI bots in multiplayer... Great story mode and I like the Co-op mode a lot too, because it gives me fun when single mode gets boring. Multiplayer, I think is also one of the best, except the only way to make it more fun is by adding people to the action with multiple X-boxes, or Editing gametypes. Just recently I played a CTF game with all characters invisible and no shield with only 1 friend and it was awesome... on small maps... I don't own the game myself but that makes it all the better because then when i go to a friend's house it's like a break from my own FPS games... I say the music, the sounds, and the graphics are superior... yes, the covenant do look like toys sort of, but i like some of the elite's grunts as well as there AI at times. 9/10 only because after playing Timesplitters 2 (FPS for Gamecube, PS2, and X-box) I liked it's ability to make my own maps and the ability to put bots in the game at a set difficulty for each bot, and its colorful bunch of characters to choose from, and all the action i've had, along with certain gametypes... the storymode is Co-op but unfortunately for me, it doesnt even compare to Halo's storymode... Halo is the only reason I would even think of getting an X-box... because ALMOST all of the x-box games would drop the fun level if I had Halo. I am not your father, but if you got an X-box, get Halo. I hate idiots who claim any game is the best... there IS no best game... by my standard a game is either---pointless, bad, pretty bad, mediocre (average), fun, very fun, or Elite in the gaming world... so there is a few games in the elite zone... and Halo is one of those few... it's what I think got x-box off to the start they had after it's release... I personally have gamecube and computer games that give me plentifull fun... but I may consider getting an X-box and Halo sometime...

It is only a First Person Shooter, and just because Microsoft made Halo does not mean it is the best game ever. And also it was the #1 of the game of year when it came out, and now there are other games so get those...Also Xbox does not have many original games, most of the are sports games so of course they have to have a 4 slots. And PS2 and GCN controllers or even the older ones like Dreamcast were small because there isn't a reason to have so many buttons. GCN has two stick and a pad with five buttons, in games like Tales of Symphonia or Metroid prime or even in Legend of Zelda you can do alot with only those buttons. And the PS2 controllers have 2 analog sticks plus a pad with 6 buttons. So do not judge a controller by its size and buttons. Less buttons = less complications for me at least. I played Halo on the comptuer first, and I was addicted to it for about 2 days... then that's it. I just got sick of it because of the monsters they do look like toys. PS2 has many RPG games such as the Final Fantasy Series and other RPG types, and it does have sports game, but mainly it is a one player system. Gamecube has always been a type of mulitplayer system, no matter what game it always has a mulitplayer. Such as Tales of Symphonia, an RPG, can be played by yourself or with 4 other people. so do not say this is the BEST GAME EVER.

This game is highly addictive, there is a lot of secrets and suprises in the game....but im not going to give any away I'll just let you find them your self, there is a lot of detail in the characters and objects in the game, there is a lot of diffirent ennemies in the game from the grunt to a zombie to a Hunter, There are also some vehicles you can drive like a: ghost,scorpion,banshee,warthog,and a tank, There is also a lot of levels and all of them are incredibly long which in this game is a good thing.Those were all the good things i could think of but i know there are much much more good things about this game.You know what everyone says: Halo alone is a reason to buy a Xbox, and actually they're right.
