Halo: The Reason The X-Box Was Made! | | Vasheeth from Boise, ID USA says (18/Apr/2004): | Halo is awesome. There is no other way to put it. It just ROCKS the house! I know almost every glitch on the internet and have found more than 50 myself that no one has posted on the internet! There are no actual cheats, which is a good thing, but there are tons of glitches which none of are stupid, but make the game better! The grunts are hilarious, the elites are cool, the jackals are all right, and the hunters are really cool. The enemies are all original, the marines are just how they should be, not too powerful, but not too weak. The graphics are good, but they could be better, and they will be on Halo 2, I've seen the screenshots! The fun factor is way up there with the other godly games. The sound is great, all the right sounds are in all the right spots, and they make the game even more enjoyable. The gameplay is about the best I've ever seen, and I've been playing video games since I was in Kidnergarten(I'm currently in seventh grade, so that's quite a long time)! I am a video game god, I've beaten the game on legendary by myself, though I have to admit I can hardly believe I did since it was so hard! This game even provided a big challenge to me, though like with all video games, I came out victorious. I spent $30 on the game, and it was worth every penny and more. Anyone who doesn't like this game is either horrible at it, or hasn't played it and has heard bad things about it from the people who are horrible at it. Contact me if you want to know any glitches, hints, or help on the game. I know glitches that you won't find anywhere on the internet (I've looked myself), and can give some really good help on the game to anyone who wants to get better. If you don't have this game, BUY IT!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well i have both of them they both are great games i used to think that goldeneye was unbeatable, not any more since halo came out it has changed my standards i try to play perfect dark with my friend but i can not even play it the graphics are not good it freezes up and is too easy, the story is not as indepth. Halo has a story i can not get enough of plus its little added things of reality like the posters in the lunch room to the talking grunt on the maw. The vehicular combat is unsurpassed you can jump out of the tank, gohst, warthog, banshe, fight on foot comendeer some one elses machine run off with it any thing is possible. like on 007 on the mission called "surface" the trees are just black wall, cut off, can not get through halo there are no boundries, exsept in the ocean in the level "silent cartogrpher". i like having the marines to fight side by side with. it is ausome! over all this game has the most unbeatable multi player. a few things i would change, one put an altitude and invisible sides on top of the canyon walls on the "blood glutch, my favorite." and the ice level and be able to fly the banshe and get on the top and sniper. By the way the sniper rifle is incredable, the pistol unserpassed. All the weapons have there special ability like the shot gun is the best short range weapon. One other thing bad there are no codes, not like i need them i have beat the game in all 4 settings yes even legendary. Yes there is a different ending it shows a black sergant and a eleat alian fighting over a asalt rifle then they hug and get blown up. Well this where i conclude my "review"!

So maybe my expectations were jacked way too high to be totally blown away by this game. After all I've heard about graphic and game play, I really expected a little more. When I started playing Halo for the first time, I was amazed at just how much the game is JUST LIKE so many other first-person-shooters out there. I've played lots of FPS games. There are lots of other games that rock in the gameplay department, not to mention graphics, sound, story, etc. Sure, Halo is a good FPS, but I just don't understand why so many people are so mezmerised by it.
Over all, Halo is above average in quality. The AI is excellent for both enemies and allies, alike. The graphics get the job done nicely, and in some cases the visuals really excel. But, I have to point out that many PC games, especially ones running with fast CPU's and good video cards, routinely deliver beautiful visuals. And as far as console systems go, the PS2 is gernerally under-rated in its ability to deliver nice graphics. Audio in Halo is above average, complete with nice voice acting. Gameplay is solid and controls are tight. Load times are minimal and generally data is loaded on the fly without breaks in the action. Replay value is undoubtedly high, as long as you're in the mood for some good 'ol FPS action. One thing that has to be said about Halo is that the action is pretty relentless. There's never a dull moment! The story is pretty standard fare for a game like Halo, which is not a bad thing. It's actually pretty original in many ways.
To sum it up, Halo is a great game, but I really couldn't call it the "Best Game Ever".

The graphics are awesome; the weapons are sweet; and the enemies are vicious(on legendary). It is the complete game. And holding two weapons at a time is great(more challenging). I can't wait until Halo 2 comes out. Playing halo on XBox live will be shibby. It was a blast the first time I defeated legendary to see the "special film". I won't give it away but all I can say is thats a side of Sarge I've never seen before! It is very challenging on legendary facing 2 hunters at once(especially when they're that p*ssed off). But all an all this game is going down in history. My favorite mission has to be Assault on the Control Room. It is a wicked combination of indoor and outdoor combat. It is also a nice combo of vehicles and on foot travel. The best part of this mission is the hijacking of a banshee. Nothing like bashing the covenant with their own vehicle. Also any mission in which you get to snipe as well as melee about 30 sleeping covenant gets an A+. Speaking of melee, bless whoever came up with that idea for this game. Nothings better than busting an Elite in the back of the head. Now as for the rest of those "Halo Gods" out there. You cant say anything until you defeat Halo on Legendary(by yourself). If you haven't then dont be calling yourself the Halo God. It doesn't work that way. As for the creators of Halo, bless you all. I can't wait for Halo 2. But I still can't figure out how you'll make it better than the first!

How I was wrong, firstly ill bash at the gameplay!
I started and thought why can't I move myself and thought it might be like the start of half-life. But I just needed to press a button and i'm free. You get a good gun early in the game so you shouldn't get bored quickly unless you like barbie. If your looking for gameplay you should come to halo, if you have the right console that is , every second is a thrill like shooting your worst enemy in the face and whatever you shoot will probably end up dead. And I assure you there is no possible way to run out of ammo soon!
Graphics.
to be honest they ant the sharpest graphics possible but they get better from the start,i think. If you could take graphics from another game it probably be metal gear solid 2. But they are sharp enough.
Fun factor.
ding! ding! ding! ding! and its top from the fun factor! And unless you read and watch nature stuff, this is a blast. No matter whats happening you must enjoy it! And if you don,t love you should be beaten with an iron bar for insanely insane acts of madness1. Die! weirdos! die! And aliens trying to kill me!
Value for money
There is no human way not to buy this if you have an xbox! Evben if its all the cash in your wallet.

me and my friends have made a game that we call C.A.R.S (cill any rolling sucker). u get two worthogs and just ram eachother constantly until one of u flips over. when and only when they flip over are u aloud to run ver them. for extr fun uu can have somebody or people throw grenades randomly into the field. this mini game best works on blood gultch.
but disregarding the multi player i had fun with this game and i enjoyed it. But u have to be a shooter freak to really enjoy this game like me because basicly all ur doing is shooting the crap out of covenent.
And if u queit halo cause its hard ten ur a srry gamer cause thats like saying u dont like ninja gaiden cause its hard. the difficulty is wat Halo is based on.(if u play heroic or legendary.)

You think all controllers have stayed rectangular since the original Nintendo? NO they havent, controllers change and so do the systems. Also, ppl are saying that Ps2 comes DVD standard. Well yes that is tru, and i give playstation credit for that, BUT! Now that games are going online all the time, and from what i have been hearing, FFXI is gonna be Online only, to upgrade your PS2 to be even remotely good enough to play online, u my PS2 friends will have to Blow all your money on the upgrades for a HArd drive ( Xbox standard), an Ethernet Port ( Xbox standard) and pay the monthly bill for the Massive multi-player online games. So think about it, where is the gaming world going? Ill tell you where, ONLINE, so are u gonna be the one stuck to pay all that money for lousy upgrades, when u can get it all standard? i sure hope not
| All 4 player versus mode games are the same!!!!! | | Justin from Campbell, Ca says (13/Apr/2004): | Halo is cool if you like co-op play, otherwise, the only differences from the other four player versus shoot'em up games are the weapons and environments other than that all those games are repetitive and they suck hardcore. The gamplay, graphics, fun factor are areas of the game I would score high on, like a 6.5. The value of this game should be in my opinion $20 when it was first released due to how much improvement and/or time and effort they should have put into it. The sound is great, I really like the sounds and the voices, especially with a surround sound system hooked up to it. I would definitely give the sound factor a ten!!! The graphics are good but they could be alot better, especially the environment textures. Fun factor is a ten! only on two player co-op. Halo has an excellent story line as well as the cinemas, it's a game that definitely gets you hooked for hours on end. I do think they should have four player co-op, which is a feature that would have given this game a much better overall rating. Also, it would have contributed to a better fun factor as well as making the game more interactive.
The characters' overshield should allow you to take more damage before it starts taking away from your lifespan, however, I do like the fact that this feature is a feature that should be in more of this genre type of game, if you know what I mean. It definitely has alot of originality, thats for sure. All in all this is currently a must have for all video gamers that own an xbox or computer.

It was the reason I bought the Xbox in the first place. The game has an extremly powerful AI. Each character reacts on thier own and has memories and intelegance of it's own. There is no "god mentality" where the characters know everything no matter where they are. The speach is context sensitive and the comments of the characters (friend or foe) are varried and funny. The weapns are also very well thought out, for example when you fire a plasma rifle too fast it overheats. The weapon design is also very inventive, the rocker launcher for instance, has directions for use written on the side. The covenant characters are comical in the lower ranks (grunts) but very dangerous in the higher levels (Hunters, Invisable Swordsmen, and Spec Ops Grunts). The number of glitches discovered was very minimal and did not draw away from gameplay. The context sensitive music and sound effects are very good on any tv and make the game totally imersive when played through DTS 5.1 surround sound. The veichles are fun and interesting to pilot. Overall a big glitch is the environment. When a tree gets shot by a covenant mortar tank the tree looks exactly the same. One other thing I could think of is that the banshees can not fly well at all (they run into everything) but can miraculously hit a Warthog on every try. Overall the good points of the game far out number the bad pionts. The game is not perfect but nothing in the world is.

Its graphics are unmatched, and its gaemplay is both realistic and exciting. The AI is the best I have ever seen for any system, characters move freely and are not programmed to do a certain task(for once). This adds a refreshing sense of orginality, unlike any first person shooter i have ever played. The coopertive mode is awesome as well, how could you not enjoy fragging some aliens with a friend? Coopertive mode is what makes the game possible to beat. Who wants a game thats so easy they can run through the hardest level in a day? Multiplayer is just amazing, and it really feels good killing all those people u dont like over a local network. I just love killing someone i dont like and then giggling to myself at how mad i must have made them hehehe. The levels are huge, and for those people who say the game sucks because they got lost, i have some advice: Go opposite the direction of all the dead aliens you killed. Wow thats a tough concept. Or if that doesnt work try going in the direction that the bad guys fire at you from. hey hey, im a genius. The only thing i dont like about the game is no bots. But im not complaining, this game has made me who i am. I am know joining the marines because of this game. Oh i went off track there, in otherwords, halo is the best game in the world......for those of you who didnt get it.... get it. You are making a huge mistake not buying it. Trust me it can change who you are.(for the better)

There is no end the excitement Halo dishes out, even after youve beaten and played it for over a year(like me). The story is kinda short but it makes up for it in all the twists that were added. As for tha MP, don't believe all those retards who keep sayin stuff like, "Duhrrr, Halo was bad cuz there ain't no banshee in MP, hmmmduhrrrr."
Even though that maybe, Halo is the best MP I have ever played since Perfect Dark. The gameplay is excellent. There just isn't any other word for it. The reality of it all. Not like one of those games where you can carry a million guns at once, with no penalty(slower walk, slower reload,ect.). Just simply 2 guns. Even with two guns, people(like myself)can beat levels on the Legendary difficluty. The graphics are phenominal, even during gameplay. Seams and pixel-visibleness were nonexsistent. The cinemas are sometimes long and cannot be escaped, not that this affects the excellence of the game anyway. The sound and music are classic. They go perfectly with the enviorment and situation(suchas the appearance of Flood out of nowhere and battle with the Covenant). The convienence of the carefully placed dead marines, as your ammo and health deplete, must be psychic in everyway. It's like the game knows when I need certain necessities. In (almost) every way, Halo captures you in an amazing spiral of gameplay, graphics, story, music, and reality.

The music was awsome, and I just love the climax parts where the music gets really pumped up. Sometimes I just sit there and not advance just because I liked that song. Halo has only one drawback, limited weapons. Carrying two weapons at a time doesn't get me, it's just that there should be more. Cooperative... Oh My God. Me and my friend Ryan are ultimate. No Covanant can stop us together. We are like an army, He snipes with the pistol and I go trigger-happy with the plasma rifle or needler. Multiplayer is awesome too. Me and Ryan both have an XBox, and we link them up for 8 player party madness. The best thing about link is, if theres 4 man teams, there's no "looking at the enemy's view" or "making sure the enemy doesn't see you yet". It's all seperated by TVs. It's plain great playing Capture The Flag or just killing eachother with warthogs. I personally suggest this, if there's a sequel, have something that would permanantly enhance your customized character. Such as: permanent starting weapons, speed, strength, cloak (#1 fav), or disguises. My favorite level is Assault On the Control Room, 2 big reasons: 1, you get to use all the vehicles in this level 2, there are parts where you must go stealthily and whack those ba$tards on the back with a gun without alerting them. Overall, this game should be the first one you buy. Absolute best starting game on any platform yet.

I got hooked at my boarding school but all I ever played was the multiplayer version. After I got my own XBOX the first thing I did was go out and buy the game for myself. Immedialtly I was hooked. Althought the storyline get's old, the game was still amazing. Playing in so many different environments, from space ships, to the library, to the 'natural' outdoors, made playing intresting. The non stop flood of aliens provided a great challenge but nothing unbeatable. I'm still in the process of beating the game on legendary though and I'm having a bit of trouble. The mutiplayer modes are great. The split screen mode is tons off fun with lots of different levels to choose frome or ways to play (slayer etc.) and the cooperative play mode is great too. The graphics are amazing and the sound is good too. But my favorite part of the game is the vehicals. After getting the hang of steering, it's so great to drive the Warthog or the tank, and the covenant vehicals are great too, although I do tend to crash the banshee alot. The wepons are cool too but I wish there were more. The shotgun is my personal favorite. The stratigicly placed check points throughout the levels are nice so when you die you don't have to start compleatly over. OVerall this was a fun, captivating, and well planned out game. If any of y'all are trying to decide weather to get it on not, i reccomend it 100%!

I say this because only God could design a game this perfect where every single little thing is just right. The AI is great and it makes you want to start blurting the F-word to every little alien you see. Instead of just running blinding into you and attacking, they figure out a strategy: Hide and attack, Flank, Sacrifice one of their men to get you. This makes for a very worthwhile, and often frustrating, game. And I don't have to say anything about the graphics...they speak for themselves.
Another great thing is the apparent absence of incredibly long loading times that you would figure would accompany a game of this magnitude. At the most, the game pauses for a split second and then continues, and you probably won't even notice it. But, while this game is perfect in almost every way, there is one very small gripe. The controls are often kinda awkward when you first start playing it. It mostly comes from the bulkiness of the supplied controller, but luckily you can get a smaller version for fairly cheap. Beyond that small little gripe...it's perfect. So, if you have not yet played this game, go to your parents and beg for the measly $250 it requires to experience true happiness. Or you could always sell your kidney on the black market, just as long as you get the game.
| great game dont need to tell others not to buy cause you dont like it, could be improved though | | John from Plano, Texas USA says (6/Jan/2003): | this was a really good game along the lines of both gameplay and graphics alike. ya it could be improved some graphics wise but other than that it was a great game. the only thing i didnt like was the fact that you couldnt use the banshee in multiplayer. the people here that gave it really bad ratings, namely the people who gave it a rating of 1, seem to me like they are more of PS2 fans. i read one persons review and he said that he thought the controlls sucked. that by far is his opinion. i like the PS2 controller over the xbox one even though i prefere xbox over PS2. also people said that halo got boring quike and that people should by the GTA games instead. i got tired of the GTA games quiker than i got tired of Halo. When you beat the GTA games what is left to do, no multiplayer unless you have the PC versions, sure you could start a new file and play it all over again but it wouldnt be as much fun because you would no what to do. At lest in Halo you can beat it multiple times on different difficulty levels with each time playing being a little different than the last. plus you have alot of different multiplayer types to choose from with bot split screen and system link. when Halo 2 comes out this year there will also be the option to go live with xbox live. and just to mention it i do think Halo should have been rated teen, there just isnt enough blood for it to be given a mature rating.

It is only a First Person Shooter, and just because Microsoft made Halo does not mean it is the best game ever. And also it was the #1 of the game of year when it came out, and now there are other games so get those...Also Xbox does not have many original games, most of the are sports games so of course they have to have a 4 slots. And PS2 and GCN controllers or even the older ones like Dreamcast were small because there isn't a reason to have so many buttons. GCN has two stick and a pad with five buttons, in games like Tales of Symphonia or Metroid prime or even in Legend of Zelda you can do alot with only those buttons. And the PS2 controllers have 2 analog sticks plus a pad with 6 buttons. So do not judge a controller by its size and buttons. Less buttons = less complications for me at least. I played Halo on the comptuer first, and I was addicted to it for about 2 days... then that's it. I just got sick of it because of the monsters they do look like toys. PS2 has many RPG games such as the Final Fantasy Series and other RPG types, and it does have sports game, but mainly it is a one player system. Gamecube has always been a type of mulitplayer system, no matter what game it always has a mulitplayer. Such as Tales of Symphonia, an RPG, can be played by yourself or with 4 other people. so do not say this is the BEST GAME EVER.

I am a huge zelda for 64 fan, but when i saw the new graphics for cube I shuddered. I was never goin to buy an Xbox until i saw the graphics and that the games are more realistic than any other, unlike cube which are all cartoonie, but anyway back to Halo. I thought i was just going to be another shoot and kill game with no strategy but when I played it, it was unlike any other game made. The ability to move was awesome you weren't restricted to one position. The guns were realistic. The enemy were the best ever made they were smart except for the grunts, but they moved different ever time, and didn't role over for no reason or fall down if they weren't even dead like goldeneye. What i'd like to see in the second if there is are some new features such as; Infared, so you can see you enemy before they see you and a nightvision, and fiberoptics as well. I'd like to see a laser sight and scope on the rifle. The laser swords that some Elites or have a knife that would be cool because they mention that the spartans used knives in " Fall of Reach." Beable to drive the huge Covenant hover tanks. Have a silencer for sniper and pistol. And finally a bonus level of the Spartans fight together on Reach. These are the reasons I gave the game a 9 but I still loved this game and can't wait till the sequal and the movie.
| The One Game To Rule Them all | | Squeak from Rapid City says (4/Jun/2004): | This is absolutely one of the best games ever made ( given the fact that it was made by microsoft ). Usually shooting games aren't all that great to me, but when I played Halo, i was amazed.
The first thing that struck me first as and amazing game were the graphics. they topped the chart! For such a big game , the creaters sure as heck did a good job.
The second thing that I though was amazing was the storyline to the game. It was just like reading a good book. I was addicted.
I've never played any game more addicing than this game besides the final fantasys, but they're not half as good as Halo.
The AI on this game is unbeleivable! Whenever you get in a car, so do your team mates ( not many games are like that ). If you are low on health, all you have to do is hide and your team mates will kill all the covanent. That is awesome!
But, even though this game is great, it also has its downfalls. First of all, they don't have enough multi-player levels , and most of them are really small, so when you're playing a 16 player game, it's really difficult.
Also, the ghraphics on the X-box version are way better than the PC / DC version. So, that's one thing the creaters should keep in mind when they make Halo 2.
So, Here's a little reveiw for all you people who haven't played the game or are thinking about buying it. I hope it helps.

You are mentally insane and play games like Tetris all day.
If you have only played the game through easy mode than you have been sadly mislead. If you try the game on Legendary than anyone who has not played it through 5-10 time would have a good challenge. If you have bugs in your game than it is 99.99999% likely to have it JUST in your game or console because I have been playing this game shortly after it came out, and I havent found a glitch yet. As for the storyline, it is already awesome, but if you read a lot like me, than read the books. They fill in the blanks and give more backround. The Graphics are top-of-the line. The ONLY thing that has better graphics so far are PC games simply because they can contain more data. As for some games mentioned such as Perfect Dark and Picmin games... would you actually put this up for comparison??????????????????
