This game rocks!! If you like violent hockey, this game is for you. It has great hits, cool moves for the players and awseome goals. Everything that's great about hockey, turned up a few notches. I gave it a 9 because it's got an annoying AI cath-up problem. No matter how far ahead you are, it always seems the Computer Team will score a few flukey goals to catch up to you. And there is no way to match their goals when this is happening. No matter how nice of a play you setup to get a shot on net, the goalie will always stand on his head to stop it. But yet they'll shoot from the redline and the puck will go in. But that's only in single player mode. Head-to head action is great to play with your friends. You can even set the game speed to ridiculously fast, for some insane speed hockey action. You can play season or exhibiton modes, where you earn points with each win to unlock specialty items, like novelty stadiums and uniforms. There is even a skills mode, where you do drills to work on different aspects of your game, like shooting, deking, and hitting. I think NHL HITZ 2003, the next version, will have more in depth stat tracking, something sadly lacking in this version. But if you want a game you can just jump right into, and get your heart pumping and blood boiling, this is the one!!
