Medieval Vice City | | Jeffrey White from Maine, USA says (24/Dec/2004): | Okay, any one who doesn't think that Morrowind deserves seven stars or higher must be on crack, because Morrowind is the best RPG so far... well sort of. I guess I wouldn't it was the BEST but I would deffinitally say it was right up there with the best. In my opinion Morrowind is basically Vice City cast in Medieval times... just you can't steal cars or anything. Well basically the best thing about the game is that you don't have to advance in the plot line to aquire the games best items. For example, once you become strong enough take a visit to Vivice, Telvanni (i think thats how you spell it). Once there go into the plaze, and then the tower thing. Go into it and then follow the path it puts you in until there's a room off to you're left, and a stair well to you're right. Go down the stair well and then off to you're right will be another hallway, with two doors in it. The first one is a prison when the second is the Telvanni vault. Once you go into that room there will be three ordinators. Well, I hope you have a good speechcraft level because you have to kill all three of them. (if you don't know what I mean: admire the guards untill they are 100% and then taunt them till they attack you). Then from there, beat the bloody $#< remove me > at ! from them. Well once they're dead, inspect there bodies and steal a key from one of them. Then head to the end of the room. There will be two doors, one to you're left and the other to you're right. Go to the one of the left, use the key, but be ware that there are two storm atronarchs behind it. Now, I took them down, but that's because I wasted hours and hours upon end leveling up with out doing much of any thing else. Well actually, you don't really even need to be really strong to beat them. Now in this room, there's only one door, and that is the one you came in from. Well there's some sort of dimensional distortion thing... don't really know but go through the door any ways and you'll be in a large room with all sorts of weapons, chest, soulgems...ect. But before you can do much of any thing else, you need to kill the two ordinators in it. Once you've dealt with them the room is pretty much free to steal from. Well, in this room are all sorts of ebony stuff. Two ebony longswords, one ebony claymore, ebony helm, ebony cuirass, ebony spear... alot of stuff. What ever ebony armor you don't find here, you can get in... some town south west of vivic in a big castle (steal it from a dark elf "duke" to get it). Well any ways, also in the room are all kinds of enchanted robes, weapons, amulets... alot of stuff, Have fun! Okay, now for an easy way to get money... it's time consuming though. Go to the vivec temple an then into the high fane room. In the room is a merchant guy who you can of course barter with, but he can also echant items for you. Well he only has nine hundred drakes each day but it's still worth it. There are other people in the room but don't talk to them. Instead go kill the ordinator and steal all his armor. Now, if you didn't already know, ordinator armor is worth alot of cash. And if you're strong you can just kill as many ordinartors as you want and sell there stuff. Well once you have his armor, go talk to the merchant and sell one peice of ordinator armor. You're going to have to reduce the price but after you're done you can just "rest" "sleep" "wait" what ever you want to call it. Once you're done resting just talk to him again and sell some more more armor. Well, I like doing this, but it may not spark your intrest. Well I could tell you more neat stuff, but you probably already know it and this review is already to long. Well cya!
| Robbing Redoran Vault #1 | | game_gurl101 from Katy (Texas), USA says (8/Jul/2004): | Im sorry, in my last post I totaly forgot this major thing I had for you guys that could get you lots of money! Im gonna tell you how to rob the first Redoran Vault! Arnt you lucky? ^_^
Okay, as some may know, the vaults are all in Vivec and in the canton with the house's name. But, before you go rushing over there, were gonna take a little sidequest.
I believe you go to Ginis and make your up, by foot, untill you reach a little pond with a woman beside it. She'll ask you to retrieve her ring, which fell in the water. She also says that shes a dance teacher in Ginis and that she'll give you a reward afterwards (I believe that she strongly hinted at doing "it" with her afterwards, dont remember though). Anyway, so you go down to the pond and search for it. If you really want to find it, its under the leaves somewhere, but its really hard to find, so I usually just skip it and head back up.
Once your back up look to the left of the pond, and, if you look hard enough, you will see a Wood Elf there clad in armor. Obviously the little bitch was gonna have you get her ring, then they were goning to attack you (Ive never gotten the ring, but my brother did and he said that thats what happens). So, you march over there and kick his ass! If you avoid the woman, she wont fight you, but you can kill her anyway if you want. So, after you have deafeted the Wood Elf, check him and grab his amulet. After that, you can go to Vivec and to the Redoran Canton.
Once there go to the Redoran Plaza and equip the amulet, dont use it yet though, just have it ready to use. Go to the house that, when you first enter, shows a lot of chairs and tables....and I think has a Dark Elf clad in gold armor in the corner. Yeah, plus you can go up the stairs and into a room thats in the middle. Thats where you want to go. You will see a woman in there though, so, before you open the door, cast the invisiblity spell from the amulet. Now open the door and then walk over to the dresser, open it, grab the key, and haul ass outta there. Remeber to avoid the blows from the people.
Now before you head off to the vault, you might want to grab from unhinging spells and a telepot that takes you to the nearest temple or fort. Or maybe a $#< remove me > at ! load of Sujamas. But please grab some of those things first.
Now its pretty obvious as to where you go,. To the Redoran Vault #1! I always wait until nobodys looking (by crouching) and then opening the vault, then going in and waiting until the guard goes out, then shutting the door. Now you are free to loot the entire place!!! They usually have glass armor there too, which might be worth keeping.
Now that you have done that, you may ask yourself, "Who the hell am I going to sell this stuff to?? No one has this kinda money!!!" Except one guy! Go to Caldron and go to the orc manor. On the second floor is a creature named Creeper. He has 5000 on him. I think it was that much anyway. Anyway, sell your small stuff to him first. Then sleep there, buy it back the next day and he wil have more than 5000 dollars! He refreshes his money of 5000 every day. Repeat the process until you have sold all the items you dont want.
I hope this has helped out a lot! It sure helped me! But dont thank me (if you even planned on it) thank my brother, he found out about this and told me.
| I think im gonna cry | | game_gurl101 from Katy(Texas), USA says (7/Jul/2004): | At first I wasnt gonna try Morrowind beacuse, frankly, we were short on money at the time I heard about it. But once my birthday rolled around I got a $#< remove me > at ! load of cash, prompting me to go to a used game store and check things out. I got an SNES first, since my first broke, and Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland. And since my brothers b-day is right after mine, I searched for something for him. And I saw, right on the shelf, a Morrorwind game. And so I got it for him.
Later I asked him how he was faring on the game, he said it was great. And so I asked him if I could try it once. He said sure, when he wasnt on it. That took another year or so. Anyway, when I got it hes character looked awsome, so I started my quest to make my character cooler. When I first played it, it was awsome. It took awhile to get used to the controls though, seeing as how I used to a playstation controller, but I got the hang of it pretty fast.
The graphics are okay, I mean, there not awsome like Legend of Dragoon or Chrono Cross, but they're still great. And I love how you can pick what way you want your character to look, the different clothes you can choose, the paths you can take, and all of that. But aside from all that fun stuff, there is a story line, believe it or not.
Its basically this, the Dunmer (more commonly known as Dark Elves) are totally pissed that other outsiders are taking over their home. So, they start telling of their prophecy where their lord will kill everyone else. You job is to kill him before he kills you. I cant remember most parts, seeing as how my brother wont let me on his Xbox anymore, but thats about it.
While your playing you can simply blow off the main course of the game and go join guilds, be a mercenary, and rob tombs. One thing to do first is join a Great House, and, if you advance enough, they can will give you a house of your own. Let me explain the House's.
House Telvanni. This house circles around magical users. I've heard they're a pretty rough bunch cuz they hate outsiders (and thats what you are) and usually dont accept them into their House. But dont worry, you can still get in. They are loacted in the small islands that are all bunched up in the East.
House Redoran. My favorite House ^_^ This house is mainly for upfront fighters, like me. I forget where they are loacted, but it was a dusty town with lots of crossiant shaped houses. (Im not joking, thats what the houses reminded me of)
House Hlaalu. This is the one my brother joined, even though hes a mage. This house is for theives. Obviously my brothers character wasnt a full theif, but he made it the top of the house anyway. They are located in your first big town.
Remember, once you join a House, you cant simply just quit and jon another one. I dont remember the details, but I think that even if you are fired or something like that, that you have to plead forgivness intil your let back in, and even during that time you cant join another House.
I think this game was awsome, and if you loved this you should diffinatly try the PC version. I havent tired it, but my brother did and I saw some wicked looking houses on there. (They were free too)
| One of the reasons to own an XBOX. | | EER from FL, USA says (9/Jul/2002): | I bought an XBOX about a month later after its release thanks to a couple of friends who showed me HALO. That was actually the first game I got for the system, and it was truly incredible. Graphics like those were not seen in many games that I owned. I thought Metal Gear Solid 2 and Final Fantasy X were the leaders in detail. I was wrong! After I beat HALO, I thought to myself, I wish they would release a game worth buying like HALO but maybe even longer. I have been a huge fan of adventure games, first person shooters, and a much bigger fan of RPGs. I am a fan of Squaresoft for its Final Fantasy franchise and own there other classics like Chrono Trigger. I hadn't really noticed what an open-ended RPG on an console was like until I read about Morrowind. I use to play EverQuest where I had a lvl 57 enchanter and just loved the fact that it was so big. I got bored, because as some of you may know, patch updates are quite annoying and fighting in groups for loot gets irritating and repetative. Well, I hadn't really heard of the older Elder Scroll games like Daggerfall (I wish I would've!), so I didn't know too much about the history. I went online and read a review about Morrowind and was instantly curious and hooked. I wanted to try a big game like this one for my XBOX. I went to a local retailer and they told me it was definitely worth it if I was an RPG fan and that I would probably be playing many hours. They were right, it was worth it! I haven't enjoyed a game for a console, especially for XBOX as much as Morrowind. I am currently pretty far I guess. My character is lvl 23 about now and I am an Imperial Knight. I have completed the main quest, but am still playing around trying to complete some quests. I love being able to walk into a town and kill people and just change the way the world works in Morrowind. About the detail, this game has a lot of it. The water is my favorite. Very similar to HALO, I love the amount of detail and how the sun reflects. Even trees and buildings can be seen reflected! This game requires a lot of hours but it is worth it if you get into it. In the beginning I thought it was quite slow, but it gets much better. Yes, it gets a little annoying when traveling from place to place because it is a BIG world, but there are spells which can speed you up (Mark and Recall). Also, don't worry but this game can actually freeze your XBOX at times. I guess sometimes there is too much for the XBOX to handle sometimes. A long story short, if you're a fan or not a fan like I was, you will love this game if you have the time and patience. This is definitely one of the reasons to own an XBOX!
| Good or Evil? Orc or Elf? Thief or Cop? Morrowind in a Nutshell. Have Fun. | | Master Chief's Apprentice from Halo, Deep Space says (24/Apr/2004): | Morrowind... A nerdy PC game they decided to bring to the Xbox because they realised it's impossible to play games with a Keyboard and a mouse. Welcome to a world or wizards, oddly coloured people (no i've always been green, why?) and people who can survive many swipes with an axe, Welcome to Morrowind!
Gameplay 8/10:
I enjoyed many an hour stealing things and shoplifting and killing people so I could use their house for the night, no in the game... Really. I found stealing things and pick pocketing people on this really fun. So fun I actually joined the thieves guild in a big f< remove me > at *! you to the story line. Of course, it's not all about stealing stuff, there's a plot somewhere to... I think...
Graphics 7/10:
The visuals are great, from the real flowng water to the fire affects, all the way to the gittery frame rate. Oh yeah, the frame rate kind of goes skewish when you see someone in the distance, and the character animation is pretty much avarage. I think the frame rate is something they should definatly think about before making any more Elder Scrolls for the Xbox. It's a shame really...
Sound 4/10:
It really bugged me how the same track of a wolf howling kept going on. And no one talks to you... It's so, lonely...
Lifespan 9/10:
If you can get into it and try to complete it and stuff it'll last you ages, likewise if you just want to steal 1000 gold worth of items from everywhere on ther map. Although it only lasted me a couple of weeks before I got bored. Although that's me, I threw some papers I was asposed to give to the guy to start the story in the river and joined the thieves guild. You can actually try playing it.
Verdict 8/10:
Great game really, although as an RPG it really suffers from a lack of a real storyline and characters you care about. Yeah, maybe I expect to much after playing Final Fantasy, but if there are more RPG's where you can hit and run stealing a 300 gold value sword and just move to another city then I'm all for it. Elder Scrolls IV anyone?
| Best RPG ever brought to gaming | | Mr. Stapleton from Weber City, VA, USA says (2/Sep/2004): | If you are into RPG, Morrowind is ultimate. The rules are... There are no rules! You can literaly get out of the census office and start killing the first person you meet. Oh, the game will warn you if you kill somebody crucial to the storyline, but it won't stop you. You can walk anywhere in the world, train in any skill, become a vampire, you name it. You can master the fighters guild, serve the temple, join the army, rule the theives guild, or climb the ranks of a great house.
This is the best game, but not perfect. The primary problems are minor, the character's don't have a lot of face choices, and the NPC's use the same list, so you end up looking in a mirror a lot. Missions can get too much into the run-an-errand mode. Some of the race choices are too one-class specific. You can't do much besides go on missions. And some of the characters' movements are poor (like looking like you are running with a stick in your rear).
The pros far outwiegh the cons though. You can save anywhere, so you don't have to make a certain save point and can quit at any time. This allows you to spend a little or a lot of time on the game. The characters can train skills. This can allow you to gain in a specific skill and gain levels quickly. You can now become proficient at less used skills, like security (lockpicking), that normally take a long time to build. Mages on this game can advance as quickly as fighters. You are limited by your class, you can use any weapon. If your mage chooses to take up the longsword during the game, he can. And in time, he can actually get very good at it. The main quest is very long, but the endless side-quests (like fighters guild or temple) can be totally completed in a reasonable amount of gameplay.
Morrowind is not only a great game inntially, its great to pick up after you've not played a few months and play again. its open format is as close to pen and paper RPG's as you can possibly get. without a doubt, its the best RPG on the market.
| Beyond all greatness of Everquest and other RPG's!!!!!! | | Ninja Panda from Panda Lake, Japan says (30/Dec/2002): | Morrowind is the, no exageration... the best looking and the most ultimate game i've ever played. The graphics are amazing, it has cool A.I., very realistic, and the coolest thing of all........ THE CRAB KING!!!!!!!! If it wasn't for the crab king would have been only a 9 out of 10 instead of a steady 10/10. They put a few more extras in there for a few good laughs, such as.... the talking skamp in Bamora, an the strip club. There were a few annoences though. Guards, fish and birds. I hated the guards the most. I always got caught the very few times i had a bounty, so i'd have to kill him cause the fear of losing all my stollin goods. when i'd atack that guard, more gaurds would come running to assist the damsil in distress(aka gaurd),then i'd get killed. gaurd + bounty = somebad. The water textures were unbeleivably realistic! Designers must have put quite a few weeks into getting the water detail just right. I applaud them for that. getting to chose between faces, hairstyles, classes, ect. was also a bonus. The theif is probably the best character for the game. Many of the tasks you must do in mini quests require you to steal, sneak about, or minipulate someone....and the theif is perfect for those duties. Spells are an almost essencial part if you want to take out attackers as quickly as possable. Trust me on this one, a greater fireball does a grand amount more of damage to foes than a long sword......unless it's the fiend katana. the fiend katana is most likely the most broken weapon in the game. It can take out any opponant in the game in a matter of minutes. The only downside there was to the game was that you couldn't fight dieties in any such way.'tear'. It would have been cool to challenge Loki or Tiamat for a place up with the gods. Overall "The Ellder Scrolls 3: Morrowind" is the most advanced, and largest game out there for play. The only thing that would be better is if "Dungeons and Dragons" made a video game.
| The best RPG for Xbox yet | | Jason, Lover of HALO from USA, Indiana, Warren says (27/Jul/2005): | How can anyone give this game less than 9 stars? Whoever does deserves to be smacked in the head really, REALLY, hard. So the graphics may not be the BEST considering other new Xbox games, but you must admit, considering any other game system ever created, the different systems graphics will get better over time with new games. As for the sound effects and music, you may think there aren't as many different sounds as in some games, but thats because its such a big game, your instincts automatically expect more. This game is more MASSIVE than almost any other game i've played, and if you think about it, if they tried to make this game as good as some peoples standards, they would have to spend over another year to finish it. If you have ever tried to make or have made a game, you would understand this as much as me. There is more to do in this game than in any other game I have played. So many different weapons, landscapes, cities, quests, people, creatures (though many are hard to find) and proffesions you can choose to take. Be an assassin, barbarian, warrior, archer, thief, executioner, wizard, mage, summoner, healer, hunter, enchanter, alchemist, EVEN A FREAKING WEREWOLF (in the game of the year edition). If you have the game of the year edition, I recommend going to Solsthiem and speaking with the Capitain to do the main quest. When you get far enough to become a werewolf, stay as one, I used that power of the werewolf to move so fast in 2 hours I had explored half of the main continent, Vvardenfell. If anyone even realativly likes fireball throwing, sword lashing, hammer bashing, demon lord summoning medieval RPG's and you have an Xbox or Computer, You WILL get this game, and I guarantee you WILL love this game.
| Hated it at first but now I'm hooked for life! | | DevilsMafia from Lebanon, PA USA says (14/May/2003): | My god this is one crazy experience. I must admit, I rented this game before ever hearing anything about it on a whim one day and hated it when I got it home. I took it back the next day and never thought of it since. Well just the other day I was discussing the game with a co-worker who plays it regularly and she made fun of me taking it back so soon without even giving it a chance. She explained to me about all the different things and you can do and how huge the world is to explore. I then decided to purchase the game and give it another shot. I am officially hooked for life now. The fact that it is an open ended RPG makes it all worth it. Instead of following a set story line, I can go off and do what ever I want. I can go break into peoples houses and kill them if I want or I can make money by going a doing odd jobs and quests for people. What ever I feel like doing that day I can do. The world is so huge you'll probably never get to explore the whole thing. Plus the fact that i can create a mage and train him to be a fighter or a thief and vice versa is really cool. Doesn't matter what kind of character you start off with, as long as you train him, they can be whatever kind of character you want them to be. I used to think that Final Fantasy was the answer to the problems in the world (hahaha) but now I have a new vacation from reality. This game will deffinetly keep you busy for quite a long time. Thanks to whoever finally had the brains to design a game like this. This is something I've been waiting for in an RPG in a long time. Let's just pray to god that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is just as good as this game. If not you know what i'll be doing on rainy days.
| Way to lose track of time | | A gamer from Columbus Ohio USA says (14/Mar/2004): | This is an excelant game. The graphics could have been a little better along with the music. However, you should be willing to make look over some things when you have a great storyboard such as this. You have the ability to roam around the whole country without doing a single mission. I like that. When it does come to missions these creators set no boundries. You can be a theif or a hero which is a lot more than others can say. I like the an depth storyline for the main corse though. It makes me feel kind of intelegent to be able to understand everything that is going on.
The other thing I like about the game is that there is even adventures it contains. You can even find tombs that has nothing to do with the storyline. Just brake in them and steal things. ALl the weapons to choose from too. Froms heavy axes to glass daggers. Ninja throwing stars to steal crossbows. They have about sixty weapons all together, plus you can enchant them if you want to. If you don't like killing with weapons, that's all right too in this case, because you can have your charector practice wizzardry as well. You can even invent your kind of spells. If you kill a charector that is in the storyline they will not come back so the relism can be apprecaited too. If you buy this game and find yourself lost, I sugest you buy the stratigy guide to improve your gaming abilities. The sky is the limit inside this game and everyone that has an game consel should at least spend ten hours on this game. The only way this game could be better (I challenge the cretors) is if they take this game and make it live for X box.
| finally! a game where i can be myself w/out dealing with real cops. | | alex jeffs from California USA says (2/Jul/2004): | i am really glad this game came out. it is perfect because i wont get a lawsuit everytime i do something "wrong". i like how u can steal literally anything you want to. i have beaten the game and i know that there are some people i killed and a message would say that i screwed up the story even though i have already beaten it and their names have never shown up. overall this game rocks with transportation, the midevil setting, the "do whatever you want privelage", getting houses, running from the law, and discovering head splitting amounts of sidequests. the Game of the year edidtion makes it even better going to solstheim and using the nord's severed leg as a weapon. the only 5 things that would make it perfect would be if it didn't freeze every 2 hours, they need at least some people in the game who aren't ugly and unattractive, they need to make it online so you can play with your friends (yes, there would be stupid people who would kill everyone but they could make it so the NPCs would respawn). it would be better if a sword would kill enemies a little faster instead of stabbing an unarmored civilian for an hour with a broadsword until they finally die. lastly, a "continue" option would be usefull for when you die by a weak looking person who looked harmless(until he brought out his daedric war hammer of doom) and kills you in one hit. i liked having a social status and when you run, you get faster and when you jump, you eventually get good enough to jump a lot higher. i would recommend this game to everybody cuz there wasn't a lot you coulden't do.
| interesting, if true | | R. L. Dewey from Provo, UT, USA says (16/May/2003): | I've been playing this game for months; I've traversed the entire island and then some; my character has become nearly indestructable and able to fly-- and still, I wonder: am I any closer to finishing the game? I now wonder if Morrowind realy has an end.
Sure, you're supposed to follow the chain of events that begins with delivering a package-- but seriously, every five minutes you run into someone else who sends you on a quest to retrieve stolen guar hides or something. It can be distracting.
No one forces you to do anything in the game, but for some reason it's hard to say 'NO' to a poor looking, elderly dark-elf lady.
Anyway-- great game in most regards.
Here are some pros and cons--
pro: huge variety of NPCs- distinct races, faces, etc...
con: small variety of monsters (for an RPG)
pro: the game is full of glitches that can quickly make your character god-like, but even with an invincible fighter, the game can still be a challenge.
con: the game tends to freeze and crash a lot-- especially when your character carries a ludicrous sum of items.
pro: you can choose to fight, kill or steal from any character in the game.
pro: you can customize spells and weapon enchantments.
pro: you can customize your own character class- and yes, this actually means something in Morrowind.
con: this game is very addictive and time consuming-- you can either have a life, or live in Morrowind, the choice is yours.
There's my 2 cents. But still, the question remains: what REALY happened to the dwarves?
| This is by far, the greatest game EVER!!!! | | Willy Bubba from J-Town, Ohio says (6/Dec/2003): | I had only $20 after buying my X-Box and know idea what to buy. I had heard of Morrowind some where before but wasn't sure it was for me. I wasn't really a fan of other "linear" RPGs, compared to Morrowind all other games are linear. I started playing and was hooked before I even got out of the Cencus Office. The graphics were excellent (textures lighting of course the lovly water, and I could stare at the sky and be amazed). I have played for months, it is past day 900 in the game, and I still am finding new quests secrets, and freaky little things like the scrolls of dead adventurers, with their last words written in blood, human flesh in palansour, north of gnisis, ect. It is absolutely amazing how much detail was put into this game. I have made a potion to fortify my intelligence 500,000,000 points for over a billion seconds. I have become god-like on this game but still find it to be challenging. There is not much I would do to improve it. While there is a ton of reading (some books are clever and enjoyable) I was glad to here characters talk to you when approached unlike final fantasy, the enchantments/soul trapping/spells are unbelievable. I could go on like this for pages but I'll sum it up buy saying, if you have an X-Box, get this game. If you don't, buy one and Morrowind. It is by far the greatest game I have ever played. The only con is that if you're not careful your social life will no longer exist, unless you count talking to all the people on this game, of which there are thousands, literally.
| WHAT A GAME! | | A gamer from Green Bay, Wisconsin says (9/Aug/2005): | This game has to be one of the greatest...if not THEE greatest game i have ever played. Yes folks...this game rivals the halo series. Now u may say that the graphics are average...but the graphics are in no way the highlight of the game. The fact that the world is urs to change as u plz makes this game endless in possibilities. Do u feel like killing every person in morrowind...lol its possible at the exception of the guards (they regenerate). Also the fact that the game doesnt tie u down to the main story and quests is nice becuase it allows u a wide array of choices. The addition of being able to join a house or guild broadens the amount of things to do mainly quest's but also gives u a chance to explore more of morrowind. The only negatives of the game that really annoyed me was the fact that money is useless in the game to a certian extent. All of the exceptional armor can be found in many places aside from buying them. If u decide to use cheats u can get a set of glass armor for example at level 1 kinda taking away the whole purpose of it being rare and good. Also, making your way accross the map can be frusterating considering the map is so massive in size. But besides those things the game is well deserving of a perfect 10 (maybe a 9.75). If u need an rpg to keep u busy for a very very long time this is the game for u. (for those who would like some tips on where to find some items of rarity just email me and ill share u my many secrets)
| The best RPG out there | | Nathen from Westhope ND USA says (17/Sep/2002): | When I got my xbox I got project gotham racing. Well that was fun for a while then I got like 6 other games played them forever (until I got morrowind) and now all I do is play morrowind. I have too many hours into the game. It’s cool because you can go out to a trader and buy potion-making material. Just hundreds of rat meat or something like that and then some small eggs. Make potions if you want to. Sell them off and make a profit. Sleep and do it all over again. Or you can be a warrior and go do the fighter guilds quests and rise in rank. You could join a temple and do that ever they want you to (haven’t done that yet) you could be an assassin and kill people legally (haven’t done that yet either) I have done a lot of stuff with this game and haven’t even scratched the surface. I am still playing it when I get home from work till I go to bed and before I go to school I even throw in the game and play it some. And I am only on level 27! But that’s not the point. I got my xbox and my friend said pos right away. He’s got a game cube. Haha about a month and a half later he got an xbox because of the game morrowind. It’s a great game and I feel that anyone that owns an xbox should get it. Hopefully they come out with another morrowind game in about a year and a half (that’s how long it will take to beat it for me) hehe but add me to msn messenger if you want to B/S about morrowind. Or just to talk about anything.
| RPG Heaven | | A gamer from North Carolina, USA says (15/Sep/2002): | This game is extaordinary!!! - It allows you the freedom to be whatever you want to be and it's your world to do with as you wish. You can even decorate your abode with just about anything available. Not only are there exotic towns to explore but caves and passages exist everywhere. I like the ability to choose between 1st and 3rd person views as 1st person often gets me dizzy where the 3rd person does not. The graphics are great especially when water walking and you can look down thru the water and see everything there - It might have used a little more color here and there but that's just a personal preference. The sounds are great, especially in the caves and ancestoral tombs and the thunder storms make you jump. There are quests and more quests and so many other diversions that you can do that there are hours upon hours of gametime. I like being able to actually see the enemies like the racers and netches in the air rather than having the game stop every little way to generate the enemies like in Final Fantasy games. And with all this there are moments of humor in the game that will make you smile. Like a ship full of pillows or the guy falling from the sky. I play strictly rpg/adventure games and have for years but this one is like the proverbial good book that you can't put down - This is a game that I can't stop playing. Let's hope that the X-box will take notice and give us more like it.
| great game could be improved, but what game couldn't be improved? | | blaine from washington says (30/Mar/2003): | omg is this game massive,. this is the first rpg that i have bought but i have played many before but this has got to be the best i hve ever seen. the graphics are ok not great by any means but good enoguh.the best part of the game would probably be the lightning it looks prety real also the story is very good. and with all the side quests you probably would never do every one. but one of the things i like about the game is that i have never seen dwarves portrayed like this because most games dwarves are abundant and are playable characters but to have them be a old exstict race of very intelegent beings is crazy. also another amazing thing is all the diferent types of books!! i have acually gone to rare bookstores bought some interesting books and just read about the history of morrowind or the vampires of morrowind for hours. also alot of fun things to do, like whenever i kill someone i strip them down to their panties or also what i did was steal a house in caldera from someone and put all my glass and deadric wepons and armor i didnt use and all my dwemer(elven for dwarven) armor and artifacts. oh and that brings up my last point i still havent figuered out why dwarven weapons are labeled as dwarven and artifacts an armor is labeled dwemer? its kinda confused me at first. but all in all its a good game
| A(nother) Reason to Buy an Xbox | | Sam from Dayton, OH USA says (21/Jun/2002): | The one true reason I got an Xbox was just for this game. A long time ago I played Daggerfall using a few of my friends' computers. With that I was hooked. Then I saw that an Elder Scrolls 3 was on its way and even better coming also on a game console. In all truth, I about had a heart attack. So I bought an Xbox and waited (and waited and waited because they pushed and pushed back the release date) for countless days to play the game. Four days after recieving it, I went on a vacation. Now that I am back and am able to play it, I am very much in love with this game. I've always been a Final Fantasy fan -Squaresoft, the Gods of RPGs- but now I can barely reason why I even played them. Imagine an RPG with a free roaming capability. Where if you are tough enough, you can wipe out a whole village and claim it as your own. Even have one building that is a strip club with dancing girls in it. Building your own stronghold, becoming a leader of several guilds, including an assasin's guild. Adventuring not only on land but in the water around the island itself. This game is a must have if you own an Xbox. It definitely is for the true gamer, like moses said, you gotta have some patience and time to play. I think I've said enough, if anything, rent just to see how great the game can be.
| Amazing game, great depth, huge world. | | Zohn and Snake eater (father & son) from Boston, MA says (20/May/2006): | Its a great game but takes alittle patience in the beginning. It has enemy's around almost every corner. Sometimes even in the cities. There must be 500 little missions to do in this game. This game has everything from ghosts to vampires and more. The terrain around the cities are full of things to discover, from pearl diving off shore to fighting your way through ancient ruins. The phrase you keep what you kill comes alive as you take anything your enemy's have on their person. In the cities there are guilds, for everything which means politics and espianage. Dozens of side missions in each city, always something to do and someone to kill. There are over 20 towns or cities to discover and probably twice as many ancient relics or ancient ruins to discover in this game. The only downsides to this game are way too much reading and the distance between cities can become tiredsome walking everywhere. There are other ways of getting around but you have to join guilds or find how to get around. Walking places are good for building up your level, finding interesting places and things and treasures but, sometimes can be alittle annoying, if your character hasn't got a 70 speed or so. We wish we had the horses that are in the new game. All in all a great game to play.
| ElderScrolls = First Game To Optimize Xbox's Full Capabilities. | | A gamer from Saskatoon, Canada says (8/Aug/2002): | I was skeptical about Morrowind: The Elder Scrolls seeing as I was not that I did not find past Morrowind games interesting. But I was shocked when I rented the game to see all the different types of characters you can customize. I played for the 5 day New Release rental period, and then I went out and bought it with my next pay check. I had no idea what I got myself into. This game has a not too big world, lots of weapons, lots of armor types, many, Many spells, and LOTS of modifiers to the game which makes Elder Scrolls have a HUGE replay value. I was wondering when the game was going to begin to start winding up... but after 1.5 weeks of constant playing, I have only begun to find out ONE possible storyline. Whats more, is once you get high enough rank in the house you have chosen, they will build you your own place to call home. Mind you, this 'home' has its own marketplace. The Music is good, but kinda suspensful at times. There is NO POSSIBLE WAY this game could have been put on PS2 or Cube. Aside from the small glitches which are unavoidable in any game, this is definately a buy,.. considering it is such a long game. It will keep you occupied until the next large-scale game comes out. Happy Gaming >:)
