Hated it at first but now I'm hooked for life! |
| DevilsMafia from Lebanon, PA USA says (14/May/2003): |
My god this is one crazy experience. I must admit, I rented this game before ever hearing anything about it on a whim one day and hated it when I got it home. I took it back the next day and never thought of it since. Well just the other day I was discussing the game with a co-worker who plays it regularly and she made fun of me taking it back so soon without even giving it a chance. She explained to me about all the different things and you can do and how huge the world is to explore. I then decided to purchase the game and give it another shot. I am officially hooked for life now. The fact that it is an open ended RPG makes it all worth it. Instead of following a set story line, I can go off and do what ever I want. I can go break into peoples houses and kill them if I want or I can make money by going a doing odd jobs and quests for people. What ever I feel like doing that day I can do. The world is so huge you'll probably never get to explore the whole thing. Plus the fact that i can create a mage and train him to be a fighter or a thief and vice versa is really cool. Doesn't matter what kind of character you start off with, as long as you train him, they can be whatever kind of character you want them to be. I used to think that Final Fantasy was the answer to the problems in the world (hahaha) but now I have a new vacation from reality. This game will deffinetly keep you busy for quite a long time. Thanks to whoever finally had the brains to design a game like this. This is something I've been waiting for in an RPG in a long time. Let's just pray to god that Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is just as good as this game. If not you know what i'll be doing on rainy days.

CURE FOR VAMPIRISM BABY!!!!! |
| Christian Arnold (pronounced Chris-Jin) from Sioux City Iowa, USA says (10/Aug/2003): |
I have just found the cure for all you vampires out there. Start sayin "Halleluya" or however you say it. Ok, first, go to Bal Fel. In the basement, you will talk to a shrine or some guy that will offer a cure for vampirism. You have to fetch a cursed soul gem. Its in the northern part of where dagoth ur is. it will be around the top most forcefields. when you find it, go back to the basement of bal fel, give him/it the item, and he will give you the cure. i dont think you get to keep your vampiric abilities like increased stats and vampire bite spell.

Best RPG ever! |
| Creampuff from Ohio (USA) says (21/Jan/2004): |
This is the most in depth game I have ever played. With over two-hundred hours of gameplay, this game is not only filled with quests and guilds but the graphics and wide selection of items keep the game interesting. This is an amazingly open-ended game with a true sence of freedom as you can do anything you wish. You can create your own spells, collect plants to make potions, repair your weapons, steal nearly everything you see in the game, master a great variety of skills, and make weapons and armour(only with the expansion). This is a definite great buy if you are into in-depth games. Rating this game a ten is the least I can do for this amazing game.

Best RPG ever brought to gaming |
| Mr. Stapleton from Weber City, VA, USA says (2/Sep/2004): |
If you are into RPG, Morrowind is ultimate. The rules are... There are no rules! You can literaly get out of the census office and start killing the first person you meet. Oh, the game will warn you if you kill somebody crucial to the storyline, but it won't stop you. You can walk anywhere in the world, train in any skill, become a vampire, you name it. You can master the fighters guild, serve the temple, join the army, rule the theives guild, or climb the ranks of a great house.
This is the best game, but not perfect. The primary problems are minor, the character's don't have a lot of face choices, and the NPC's use the same list, so you end up looking in a mirror a lot. Missions can get too much into the run-an-errand mode. Some of the race choices are too one-class specific. You can't do much besides go on missions. And some of the characters' movements are poor (like looking like you are running with a stick in your rear).
The pros far outwiegh the cons though. You can save anywhere, so you don't have to make a certain save point and can quit at any time. This allows you to spend a little or a lot of time on the game. The characters can train skills. This can allow you to gain in a specific skill and gain levels quickly. You can now become proficient at less used skills, like security (lockpicking), that normally take a long time to build. Mages on this game can advance as quickly as fighters. You are limited by your class, you can use any weapon. If your mage chooses to take up the longsword during the game, he can. And in time, he can actually get very good at it. The main quest is very long, but the endless side-quests (like fighters guild or temple) can be totally completed in a reasonable amount of gameplay.
Morrowind is not only a great game inntially, its great to pick up after you've not played a few months and play again. its open format is as close to pen and paper RPG's as you can possibly get. without a doubt, its the best RPG on the market.

A(nother) Reason to Buy an Xbox |
| Sam from Dayton, OH USA says (21/Jun/2002): |
The one true reason I got an Xbox was just for this game. A long time ago I played Daggerfall using a few of my friends' computers. With that I was hooked. Then I saw that an Elder Scrolls 3 was on its way and even better coming also on a game console. In all truth, I about had a heart attack. So I bought an Xbox and waited (and waited and waited because they pushed and pushed back the release date) for countless days to play the game. Four days after recieving it, I went on a vacation. Now that I am back and am able to play it, I am very much in love with this game. I've always been a Final Fantasy fan -Squaresoft, the Gods of RPGs- but now I can barely reason why I even played them. Imagine an RPG with a free roaming capability. Where if you are tough enough, you can wipe out a whole village and claim it as your own. Even have one building that is a strip club with dancing girls in it. Building your own stronghold, becoming a leader of several guilds, including an assasin's guild. Adventuring not only on land but in the water around the island itself. This game is a must have if you own an Xbox. It definitely is for the true gamer, like moses said, you gotta have some patience and time to play. I think I've said enough, if anything, rent just to see how great the game can be.

Awesome Game |
| Andrew from Tyler, Texas, USA says (24/Jun/2002): |
I bought this game on a whim. I had never played any of the others, nor had I even heard of them. All I did was read reviews and hope this would be a fun game, luckily it was. Every bit of the 50 bucks I paid was worth it. The game is very emersive, you can do pretty much whatever you'd like, and if you become strong enough, you can rule the entire kingdom, i guess, haven't actually gotten that far. In fact, I haven't got to far at all, the only problem with the game is that it takes a while to get from place to place, but along the way a lot of things happen, so all in all, this is a great game and worth the money. I'm happy with it.
Also, please e-mail me at football5654704< remove me > at hotmail.com if you have ANY tips at all for this game. I'd love it, especially tips on how to start out.

Great game, unlimited possibilities. |
| Stephen from Birmingham, USA says (7/Jul/2002): |
I had heard of Daggerfall, but never played it. But three days after I bought my Xbox, a friend of mine told me to get Morrowind. He said it was cool because you could kill people and take thier stuff and do magic and all that. He gave this game absolutely no credit. I've always wanted to see a game where you don't have to stick to a preset storyline, where you can venture to the side of evil, become leader of a guild, and still have lots left over to do. I'm not even very far into the game and I love it. I've never seen a game that you can interact with so much. The only downside I've seen is how difficult it is to level up and the lack of easy to beat yet worthwhile enemies. But in reality, you don't need them! This game lets you take your character wherever you want and do whatever you want with them. A villager makes you mad? Kill them! and sell off thier stuff. Pay your meager fine and be free. This game has limitless possibilities for gameplay. If you're sceptical, rent it! But be sure you have a lot of time on hand to play. I would suggest this game to people with a dgree of patience and persistance.

This is an awsome game !! |
| Ultimate Redguard from New Knoxville, USA says (12/Jul/2002): |
What I like about this game is the fact that you can custom design your caracter that can be completely different than that of anyone else that will ever play the game. The open endedness is really breathtaking and every detail is fully polished. This is an amazing game that everyone should own bar none. This game has all others collecting dust somewhere. They should put morrowind in a class of its own, no other game is worthy of your time after you play this game.

This game is diffently a hit. |
| Jeffrocc from Manhattan Beach, California, USA says (13/Jul/2002): |
I have had Morrowind for about 3 day now. Out of the 36 hours of having it I have played with it for about 20. Once you start you are imedetly hooked. You just can't put it down. The game is so well designed becaus you can go anywhere you want and do anything you want. From being a hired assasin to joing a temple and being a monk this game is for everyone. The graphics are great and the gameplay is awesome. The only flaw is the music gets boring after a while but it's not a problem becuase you can just turn the music off and listen to the radio. Other than that is the best game for Xbox. How can a game be bad if you can choose you own destiny and outcome.

Buy the game! |
| Bryan Ludwig from Illnois,USA says (15/Jul/2002): |
It is one of the best games i have seen for the xbox yet the graphics are great and it is just fun to run around and kill people, go in there houses, and steal stuff. Plus I took over a house and decorated it it is my little hide away p.s. its in plagiad by the tavern if u want to see it i also took over the mages guild. Good luck on the game.

Great new RPG for the Xbox |
| The Gamer from Warminster, Pa says (24/Jul/2002): |
This is one of the greatest games for Xbox since Halo. I bought an Xbox and have been looking for a good RPG for it, I got a game called Azurik, but that was a failed attempt at an RPG by its makers. As soon as I put it in I got the hang of it. Great controls, similer to that of Halo, complete freedom to rome and explore, and a good storyline makes this the best RPG I have played for Xbox, and an equal to the better games of the famous Final Fantasy series.

He He He He im obsessed |
| Dan Dan The Juggalo Man from St.George, USA says (26/Jul/2002): |
I have played this game literally for hundred's of hours i have seen 4 characters reach a level of 70 or higher i have seen every weapon in the game seen every piece of armor beaten the main quest without doing anything but killing vivec and taking the wraithgaurd and had the old dwarf put it back together for me i have actually gone through the main quest doing each and every quest (not recommended), i have made tons of magical weapons and amulets in short i have seen almost all this awesome game has to offer and you know why i still play it? so i can go back make another character and do it all over again.

| alyce the kajiit from Nova Scotia, Canada says (12/Oct/2002): |

Beyond all greatness of Everquest and other RPG's!!!!!! |
| Ninja Panda from Panda Lake, Japan says (30/Dec/2002): |
Morrowind is the, no exageration... the best looking and the most ultimate game i've ever played. The graphics are amazing, it has cool A.I., very realistic, and the coolest thing of all........ THE CRAB KING!!!!!!!! If it wasn't for the crab king would have been only a 9 out of 10 instead of a steady 10/10. They put a few more extras in there for a few good laughs, such as.... the talking skamp in Bamora, an the strip club. There were a few annoences though. Guards, fish and birds. I hated the guards the most. I always got caught the very few times i had a bounty, so i'd have to kill him cause the fear of losing all my stollin goods. when i'd atack that guard, more gaurds would come running to assist the damsil in distress(aka gaurd),then i'd get killed. gaurd + bounty = somebad. The water textures were unbeleivably realistic! Designers must have put quite a few weeks into getting the water detail just right. I applaud them for that. getting to chose between faces, hairstyles, classes, ect. was also a bonus. The theif is probably the best character for the game. Many of the tasks you must do in mini quests require you to steal, sneak about, or minipulate someone....and the theif is perfect for those duties. Spells are an almost essencial part if you want to take out attackers as quickly as possable. Trust me on this one, a greater fireball does a grand amount more of damage to foes than a long sword......unless it's the fiend katana. the fiend katana is most likely the most broken weapon in the game. It can take out any opponant in the game in a matter of minutes. The only downside there was to the game was that you couldn't fight dieties in any such way.'tear'. It would have been cool to challenge Loki or Tiamat for a place up with the gods. Overall "The Ellder Scrolls 3: Morrowind" is the most advanced, and largest game out there for play. The only thing that would be better is if "Dungeons and Dragons" made a video game.

Morrowwind, Could it get any better? |
| Joe The Skinny Guy? from Lebtucky says (16/Jan/2003): |
Morrowind is one of the best and most fantastic games out there, me and my friends love playing it, I currenly have a level 18 Crusader who is very high in the Fighters Guild, its also a boon for you to get invis. pots, if you do you can steal very nice stuff, (cheap i know but still WAY cool) this game is like one of the best games out there, i would advise anyone to get this game and Halo, and if you can get another Dead to Rights but deffinetly Morrowind, because it has the best graphics, i mean when u cast a spell u can see it move, and people have their hands up during sandstorms and stuff, i mean how COOL IS THAT!

This game is a wicked game, but it could be better. |
| Brendan from Oromocto, New Brunswick, Canada says (26/Jan/2003): |
Everyone gives this game overly good ratings,it definetly could have been way better, but I guess this is how it is when you relaease games into the mainstream... EXPENSIVE. I'm sure if money was to object the team would've given everyone their own opinions and so forth. That's on thing it should have inherited from standard platform RPGs--- NPC development, only using somewhat of their same system, making it a better hierarchy of thoughts for each NPC. Maybe I'm only dreaming, but someday this will happen... For now I make my own games for the trusty old comp... Also some people wander around aimlessly, and where the hell are a ll the kids? And (sorry for bringing this one up, but after playing some SNES game I couldn't help but ask) WHERE IN GOD'S NAME DO PEOPLE GO TO THE BATHROOM? Take no offense, this is my favorite game - EVER. But I think they can do better, I know I can pretty much figure out how this system works and dupe it. But I want to see some NPCS walk to the market and buy something, then go home, put their kids to bed and sit down and have a drink or something. And what's up with the loading on xbox? Anyways that's all I have to belittle now, have fun.

Customizable, huge adventure, hours(possibly years)of fun. SWEEEEET! |
| Some Guy(from Time Splitters 2 review) from Chicago Illinois USA says (19/Mar/2003): |
Morrowind has all of the huge essentials of an RPG represented in the best ways possible. With tons of thousands of ways to customize your character(creating a hero that is to anyones' taste)there is no end to the possibilities of the way a character can be. The world you are on is huge and you must travel everywhere on foot! The continents are all packed with activities and quests, making it virtually impossible to complete the whole game. Collecting new spells and abilities are always a delight! If someone where to find every secret and complete the whole game with no area left unexplored, I'd give them credit and all of my respect.

great game could be improved, but what game couldn't be improved? |
| blaine from washington says (30/Mar/2003): |
omg is this game massive,. this is the first rpg that i have bought but i have played many before but this has got to be the best i hve ever seen. the graphics are ok not great by any means but good enoguh.the best part of the game would probably be the lightning it looks prety real also the story is very good. and with all the side quests you probably would never do every one. but one of the things i like about the game is that i have never seen dwarves portrayed like this because most games dwarves are abundant and are playable characters but to have them be a old exstict race of very intelegent beings is crazy. also another amazing thing is all the diferent types of books!! i have acually gone to rare bookstores bought some interesting books and just read about the history of morrowind or the vampires of morrowind for hours. also alot of fun things to do, like whenever i kill someone i strip them down to their panties or also what i did was steal a house in caldera from someone and put all my glass and deadric wepons and armor i didnt use and all my dwemer(elven for dwarven) armor and artifacts. oh and that brings up my last point i still havent figuered out why dwarven weapons are labeled as dwarven and artifacts an armor is labeled dwemer? its kinda confused me at first. but all in all its a good game
