sceptical to amazed | | Derek from Layton, UT, USA says (9/Apr/2003): | i was sceptical at first cause everyone I talked to about this game said its rubbish. FYI, most of the people I talked to are not known for their patience. Anyway I went out and rented it on a whim, wow! This game is awesome, the way u control every aspect of ur character is amazing, good, evil, whatever. I am an RPG fanatic and this game has replaced the final fantasy series as the best in my opinion.
| this is one of the best games i've played online | | Black kat from USA says (23/Apr/2003): | this game is pretty tight for a online game i mean you get to chat to people well you play i don't even really get on yahoo messager that much every day and i use to always be on that but yeah the games pretty cool and if you aint played yet you should well i'm out peoples
| The next stage in RPG | | Karzael from Liverpool, England says (1/May/2003): | Ignoring the button clicking Phantasy star online or the nice looking-thats it Final Fantasy series. Morrowing is the largest RPG i have ever seen. It has to be said that the longevity on this game is astounding. Profesional players are still discovering new bits. All those critics who say that its crap compared to the PC version, ask yourself one question. What type of Nugget is going to buy both formats and games? QEDBottom line: If you want an RPG you dont play but "live" this is the closest you can get. ESPECIALLY on any console.
Now, im off to running the thieves guild.
Down with the Commora Tong gangsters!
| Great Game | | Andrew from Nevada says (11/May/2003): | Morrowind is a great game for RPGers the downside is that it can freeze alot and u could lose everything to your last save. Another downside is the loading take like 3 minutes or more to open ur character. Getting lost sux too hate getting lost its a very fun and long game i ran out of patience and went on a rampage and killed all the people and stole their stuff. If u have a xbox and have some time on ur hands than i recommend to get this game
| interesting, if true | | R. L. Dewey from Provo, UT, USA says (16/May/2003): | I've been playing this game for months; I've traversed the entire island and then some; my character has become nearly indestructable and able to fly-- and still, I wonder: am I any closer to finishing the game? I now wonder if Morrowind realy has an end.
Sure, you're supposed to follow the chain of events that begins with delivering a package-- but seriously, every five minutes you run into someone else who sends you on a quest to retrieve stolen guar hides or something. It can be distracting.
No one forces you to do anything in the game, but for some reason it's hard to say 'NO' to a poor looking, elderly dark-elf lady.
Anyway-- great game in most regards.
Here are some pros and cons--
pro: huge variety of NPCs- distinct races, faces, etc...
con: small variety of monsters (for an RPG)
pro: the game is full of glitches that can quickly make your character god-like, but even with an invincible fighter, the game can still be a challenge.
con: the game tends to freeze and crash a lot-- especially when your character carries a ludicrous sum of items.
pro: you can choose to fight, kill or steal from any character in the game.
pro: you can customize spells and weapon enchantments.
pro: you can customize your own character class- and yes, this actually means something in Morrowind.
con: this game is very addictive and time consuming-- you can either have a life, or live in Morrowind, the choice is yours.
There's my 2 cents. But still, the question remains: what REALY happened to the dwarves?
| Best Game Ever | | Chris from houston,TX,USA says (24/Jul/2003): | I just think this is the best game cause you get to do whatever the heck you want to do. I still play it even after beating the main quest. There are many different possibilities in Morrowind. It is almost impossible to complete %100 of the game. If you ever get bored just go on rampages and kill everybody you see and sell their stuff to some trader. The graphics are ok but could be improved. Sound is great especially with surround sound. If you buy this game you will probably play it at least 100+ hours of gameplay. The game is like no other. Morrowind is the only game i've seen where you can do whatever you want to do.
| my mistake | | Christian (pronounced chris-jin) from Sioux City Iowa, USA says (16/Aug/2003): | ok, you dont have to fetch a cursed soul gem to be cured of vampirism. you have to kill some people. (easy, right?)of course it is. some guy tells you to kill some people, then when you go back to him, you will get a potion. "in theory," it should cure you. be warned, as you cannot use transportation service, it will be a long hike uphill. but its worth it.
| Help!!!! | | A gamer from Los says (9/Sep/2003): | I purchased morrowing because my uncle(who's a rpg fan) told me that it was an awesome game. So as soon as I went I got it. This seems too much for me. It's too complicated and it seems you'll have to spend forever just to get the hang of it. The controls aren't that good and the loading sucks. I am also having some trouble because whenever I play it there are parts in the game when you're like going up a mountainor something that my game like freezes for a sec and then continues. That bothers me and i was wondering if that happens to anyone or maybe I got a faulty game. I doubt it's my xbox since all my other games run smooth. Well Peace.
| this game is sweet | | Jimbo from USA says (21/Sep/2003): | I have ben playin this game since it came out. I rented it first and got so addicted to it tht i didnt retern it for like 2 months. lol o well. than i bought it and even after beeting the main quest there is still so much more to do. I am a huge rpg fan and final fantasy is no mach to this. I have ben waiting for a game were u can go and do wut ever u want for a long time. i would have given it a ten but the reson i didnt was beacause of the music. But still if u love rpg i recomend getting this one for sure cuz it is awsome.
| This is by far, the greatest game EVER!!!! | | Willy Bubba from J-Town, Ohio says (6/Dec/2003): | I had only $20 after buying my X-Box and know idea what to buy. I had heard of Morrowind some where before but wasn't sure it was for me. I wasn't really a fan of other "linear" RPGs, compared to Morrowind all other games are linear. I started playing and was hooked before I even got out of the Cencus Office. The graphics were excellent (textures lighting of course the lovly water, and I could stare at the sky and be amazed). I have played for months, it is past day 900 in the game, and I still am finding new quests secrets, and freaky little things like the scrolls of dead adventurers, with their last words written in blood, human flesh in palansour, north of gnisis, ect. It is absolutely amazing how much detail was put into this game. I have made a potion to fortify my intelligence 500,000,000 points for over a billion seconds. I have become god-like on this game but still find it to be challenging. There is not much I would do to improve it. While there is a ton of reading (some books are clever and enjoyable) I was glad to here characters talk to you when approached unlike final fantasy, the enchantments/soul trapping/spells are unbelievable. I could go on like this for pages but I'll sum it up buy saying, if you have an X-Box, get this game. If you don't, buy one and Morrowind. It is by far the greatest game I have ever played. The only con is that if you're not careful your social life will no longer exist, unless you count talking to all the people on this game, of which there are thousands, literally.
| The Keening and Sunder | | Kail from Peachtreecity, Georgia USA says (16/Dec/2004): | Kail is my guys name in morrowind and he is proboly more powerfull than yall and i know many secrets. many people find them( Keening and Sunder) to early in the game and they equiped them. they also find out that it kills them every time. the only way to hold them is to play on the main story line untill vivec gives you wraithgaurd. this is proboly the best glove in the game and it is the only thing that will make it were you can hold the two wepons. dont try using cheeats, hacks, or enchantments. the power of the wepons kills you in seconds nno matter what you do.
| Medieval Vice City | | Jeffrey White from Maine, USA says (24/Dec/2004): | Okay, any one who doesn't think that Morrowind deserves seven stars or higher must be on crack, because Morrowind is the best RPG so far... well sort of. I guess I wouldn't it was the BEST but I would deffinitally say it was right up there with the best. In my opinion Morrowind is basically Vice City cast in Medieval times... just you can't steal cars or anything. Well basically the best thing about the game is that you don't have to advance in the plot line to aquire the games best items. For example, once you become strong enough take a visit to Vivice, Telvanni (i think thats how you spell it). Once there go into the plaze, and then the tower thing. Go into it and then follow the path it puts you in until there's a room off to you're left, and a stair well to you're right. Go down the stair well and then off to you're right will be another hallway, with two doors in it. The first one is a prison when the second is the Telvanni vault. Once you go into that room there will be three ordinators. Well, I hope you have a good speechcraft level because you have to kill all three of them. (if you don't know what I mean: admire the guards untill they are 100% and then taunt them till they attack you). Then from there, beat the bloody $#< remove me > at ! from them. Well once they're dead, inspect there bodies and steal a key from one of them. Then head to the end of the room. There will be two doors, one to you're left and the other to you're right. Go to the one of the left, use the key, but be ware that there are two storm atronarchs behind it. Now, I took them down, but that's because I wasted hours and hours upon end leveling up with out doing much of any thing else. Well actually, you don't really even need to be really strong to beat them. Now in this room, there's only one door, and that is the one you came in from. Well there's some sort of dimensional distortion thing... don't really know but go through the door any ways and you'll be in a large room with all sorts of weapons, chest, soulgems...ect. But before you can do much of any thing else, you need to kill the two ordinators in it. Once you've dealt with them the room is pretty much free to steal from. Well, in this room are all sorts of ebony stuff. Two ebony longswords, one ebony claymore, ebony helm, ebony cuirass, ebony spear... alot of stuff. What ever ebony armor you don't find here, you can get in... some town south west of vivic in a big castle (steal it from a dark elf "duke" to get it). Well any ways, also in the room are all kinds of enchanted robes, weapons, amulets... alot of stuff, Have fun! Okay, now for an easy way to get money... it's time consuming though. Go to the vivec temple an then into the high fane room. In the room is a merchant guy who you can of course barter with, but he can also echant items for you. Well he only has nine hundred drakes each day but it's still worth it. There are other people in the room but don't talk to them. Instead go kill the ordinator and steal all his armor. Now, if you didn't already know, ordinator armor is worth alot of cash. And if you're strong you can just kill as many ordinartors as you want and sell there stuff. Well once you have his armor, go talk to the merchant and sell one peice of ordinator armor. You're going to have to reduce the price but after you're done you can just "rest" "sleep" "wait" what ever you want to call it. Once you're done resting just talk to him again and sell some more more armor. Well, I like doing this, but it may not spark your intrest. Well I could tell you more neat stuff, but you probably already know it and this review is already to long. Well cya!
| MORROWIND Rocks it is the best game ever!!!!!!!! | | A gamer from Kansas,USA says (15/Feb/2005): | Morrowind rocks. You can do anything, anywhere, anytime! This game is the greatest you can never beat the whole game. There are millions of things to do like which house to join and legendary weapons. If you have every single legendary weapon email me and tell me where you found them. All I have is Umbra. There are millions of types of weapon and armor combinations which you can never always have. There are hundreds and hundreds of missions so you never get bored with Morrowind! It is almost better than the Halo series but just a little under. If your parents don't like you to have fighting games then just tell them that it is an adventure game. Then you can still gut everyone in the game without them knowing. You have this game then you rock!!!!
| Best Game EVER | | A gamer from Ridgeland, Mississippi says (15/May/2005): | Everyone keeps talking about glass and ebony armor as if it was the best...wrong. High Ordinator is better, but they tend to get pissed if you were to wear it. it. So.. that leaves the legendary $#< remove me > at ! that the creators just love to hide.
1. There's an old stronghold Southeast of the Ushinabai Camp...is that the name? Anyway you probably know what I mean. You have to go there to pass a Nerevarine test. Inside, in the the Dagoth crypt, there will be two troth looking things on either side of the walls. Goto the left one, and instead of looking in it, look behind and underneath it. There will be a set of gloves. Randgaulf's or something. Anyway, my heavy armor wasnt all that great, but they each provided 225 rating...nice. PLUS one had constant fortify agility 30 pts and the other had constant fortify strength 30. There you go.
2. In the tower of Dagon Fel, just south of the city, on the top floor is some wizard who just gets bitchy and doesnt like you from the get-go. Whatever, rip him up and then check his corpse. He'll have a helmet that does 225 armor...they sure like that number. And it fortifies your personality 30 pts...constantly.
| Freakin awsome | | A gamer from USA says (8/Jul/2005): | This game has been out for over four years i think, it is still one of the biggest and most interactive games out there. i was hooked on this game comepletly, played for 500+ hours. This game rocks, the only complaints i have are the low graphics. other than that it completly wins every other game, even though its considered an old game it still magnificent, you can do anything you want, sleep all day and night, kill monsters, go exploring in caves and ruins, steal everything, get into fights with town villagers, get thrown in jail, get turned into a vampire, everyhing has basically been thought up for this game. I congradulate Bethesda for making an epic game, i hope Morrowind four: oblivion will be just as great, so until i will anxiously wait for the release of the game
| The best RPG for Xbox yet | | Jason, Lover of HALO from USA, Indiana, Warren says (27/Jul/2005): | How can anyone give this game less than 9 stars? Whoever does deserves to be smacked in the head really, REALLY, hard. So the graphics may not be the BEST considering other new Xbox games, but you must admit, considering any other game system ever created, the different systems graphics will get better over time with new games. As for the sound effects and music, you may think there aren't as many different sounds as in some games, but thats because its such a big game, your instincts automatically expect more. This game is more MASSIVE than almost any other game i've played, and if you think about it, if they tried to make this game as good as some peoples standards, they would have to spend over another year to finish it. If you have ever tried to make or have made a game, you would understand this as much as me. There is more to do in this game than in any other game I have played. So many different weapons, landscapes, cities, quests, people, creatures (though many are hard to find) and proffesions you can choose to take. Be an assassin, barbarian, warrior, archer, thief, executioner, wizard, mage, summoner, healer, hunter, enchanter, alchemist, EVEN A FREAKING WEREWOLF (in the game of the year edition). If you have the game of the year edition, I recommend going to Solsthiem and speaking with the Capitain to do the main quest. When you get far enough to become a werewolf, stay as one, I used that power of the werewolf to move so fast in 2 hours I had explored half of the main continent, Vvardenfell. If anyone even realativly likes fireball throwing, sword lashing, hammer bashing, demon lord summoning medieval RPG's and you have an Xbox or Computer, You WILL get this game, and I guarantee you WILL love this game.
| WHAT A GAME! | | A gamer from Green Bay, Wisconsin says (9/Aug/2005): | This game has to be one of the greatest...if not THEE greatest game i have ever played. Yes folks...this game rivals the halo series. Now u may say that the graphics are average...but the graphics are in no way the highlight of the game. The fact that the world is urs to change as u plz makes this game endless in possibilities. Do u feel like killing every person in morrowind...lol its possible at the exception of the guards (they regenerate). Also the fact that the game doesnt tie u down to the main story and quests is nice becuase it allows u a wide array of choices. The addition of being able to join a house or guild broadens the amount of things to do mainly quest's but also gives u a chance to explore more of morrowind. The only negatives of the game that really annoyed me was the fact that money is useless in the game to a certian extent. All of the exceptional armor can be found in many places aside from buying them. If u decide to use cheats u can get a set of glass armor for example at level 1 kinda taking away the whole purpose of it being rare and good. Also, making your way accross the map can be frusterating considering the map is so massive in size. But besides those things the game is well deserving of a perfect 10 (maybe a 9.75). If u need an rpg to keep u busy for a very very long time this is the game for u. (for those who would like some tips on where to find some items of rarity just email me and ill share u my many secrets)
| Sweet | | Phillip C. from Las Vegas, Nv. says (3/Oct/2005): | I played this game for xbox but I bought it for the computer. It's a great game. It gives you the freedom to go on a quest or slaughter all the people. You don't have to do a quest or train it gives you more options than that. Kinda like fable but this game is in first person and it lets you make your own character and the people that you kill every thing that you see on their body you can take. Sweet! I gave this game a nine cause the games perfect but it tends to freeze for 5-40 seconds every quest or so. And good music guys keep it up!
| A Very Difficult But A Very Fun Game!!! | | Gage the Guide from Butte, Montana, U.S.A. says (26/Nov/2005): | The first thing I did in the game was to the wilderness. There I died but also found how if I shot an arrow it would stick out of a tree. The grapics are amazing, the creatures are amazing, and the wide selection of items is amazing. It is the second funnest game I ever played. One hint: Don't rush into the wild wilhout being properly equiped.Overall, if you are bored with the games you have, get this one.I can't wait until the next one comes out. The game lasts for a year or later. I wouldn't recommend this game to young kids for two reasons: one it is confusing sometimes, the other, it is sometimes scary. Morrowind brings crime, hunting, mysteries, and traveling all together.Only put in cheats if you really need them. If you do put in cheats it does get a little boring. Use a bow to draw in your enemy then use your sword to kill it off.If you have any questions please email me.I like to find new things on the game also.
| Big, Huge, yet wish it was bigger | | luke from brisbane, Australia says (15/Dec/2005): | this is a great game, it is my most favourite in my collection. I play it heaps n ive noticed that before your character can run faster and jump higher it is sometimes annoying having to hafto wait ages to travel between cities, if there isnt a boat or a silt strider or if your not carrying any intervention spells, i think ya should be able to farm plants, animals, catch animals, break them, get saddles and ride them around. also buying and sellin property would make it more fun.
This might help to get around more easily, even though it may distract you away from the main story it would be good to do once the game is complete or to get de-stessed when ya cant do a mission or solve a puzzle.
