This a great game and as real as you're going to get on an Xbox. If I were to make a real simulator it would for sure have graphics like these (awsome). |

The missions are challenging at times but repeditive the rest of the time. In any case it's a fun GAME to play. To Chris I'd have to say; I don't think any Xbox game will prepare you to be a real fighter pilot and the A-10 can carry sidewinders.

This game is an OK game for the XBox. At times the game can be very cheap and difficult. I nearly threw my controller across the room several times while playing this game. The missions can be a bit repetitious at times as well. On the positive side, the graphics are awesome and the amount of planes is impressive as well. If your an XBox owner, this is a good game to buy...but maybe not worth $50. I would highly recommend Ace Combat 4 over this game anyday...so if you have the choice between this game and Ace Combat 4 (seeing you have a PS2)...buy the latter.

If someone were to sit down for more than 5 minutes, one would find that by changing the control scheme the gamer has a higher degree of difficulty over their plane. Those complaining about a jet not performing the way they want it to (like they have actually piloted any of these jets and actually know) and the controls performing like a childish game, then take it off the easiest setting. Pretty simple but I guess some people have a difficult time with it. The interface is just fine the way it is, I don't know why someone would complain about the interface, they should be playing the game. Also different jets have vastly different abilities such as HP, Mobility, Speed, etc. The music can get a little annoying but can be turned off. If you read through most of these reviews a lot of the reviewers are being very picky, and taking 5 stars off just because they don't like the soundtrack or the game doesn't have any cheats! Come on, cheats ruin the game. Honestly I didn't find any level particularly hard except for the final mission, the entire game took me around 6hr 35min to beat. The only issue I have with this game is the slow turning times (which can be improved slightly by airbraking) and the lock-on system. When in areas where the enemy is dense, the auto-locking feature is a bit counter productive. Then again, this rarely occurs and I haven't bothered to see if you can turn the auto-locking feature off. Overall this title is very solid, great graphics, tons of maps, tons of planes, and a nice learning curve. I gave it nine stars out of ten for the issues previously discussed and it not being online (I know it was one of the original releases! Just leaving room for improvement and a suggestion for AFDS 2!!). GREAT GAME!!

This game is absolutely great. But what gaming systems need is a real FLIGHT SIMULATION. Not some dinky arcade thing we see every 2 years. How many airplanes carry 45 air-to-air missiles? NONE. I'm training to be a fighter pilot, and I want some real action here. How many A-10's carry air-to-air missiles? NONE. The game lacks the realism of what these aircrafts tasks were meant to be. An A-10 is strictly air-to-ground, not multi role. I'm glad that they improved the realism of the A-10 from the old Dreamcast version of AFD. In the first version, the A-10 had afterburners on it. What's up with that?! There needs to be a game that offers realism, like fuel usage, black/red out, a limited number of air-to-air missiles and other ordinance, just like in real life. That'd be a real flight simulator. But I am deeply impressed with the graphics of this game. Each aircraft is very detailed. I like, I like.

Great game! Controls are better than AC4's. Yes, there are aileron controls, you have to set the controls to expert or ace. Ace mode has a throttle that stays in position like a real aircraft. Great arcade-sim action. Wonderful selection of aircraft, even quite a few obscure aircraft, not to mention the prototypes and fictional craft. You even get a chance to fly the Vic Viper from Gradius! All in all, my only complaint is the repetitiveness of the missions. A must buy for those who love AC4.

This is a great game. There are aliron controls you have to adjust the settings on the controls to expert or ace. I think this is an excellent game for the Xbox. There needs to be more like this one. The graphics are excellent. I've not played a combat flight sim with graphics this great, this includes ones that are on the computer.

As a pilot for a living, its nice to fly a semi-realistic flight-sim game once in awhile...however this isn't it. There is no aileron control for bank beyond 40 degrees or so. But your opponents have all the bank they want and roll and roll to evade or attack you. It appears the the engine this game was built on was for somthing other than a flight sim. Graphics are good.

The biggest problem with this game, (which i've seen no one mention in their reviews yet) is that there is no aileron control. In other words, you cant flip upside down and do a loop to come in behind the enemy. If you want to fly inverted, you have to pull up till youre upside down. It steers left and right like a boat in the water, not like an F-18 hornet. You know how a fighter can roll over and over like a drill? This game doesn't do that. First game i've ever seen that isn't realistic in that way. Waiste of money for the true aviation lover.

After discovering this game on the internet I though it had really stupid graphics. Then I had seventy bucks in my pocket, so i bought. When I got home i played and saw it was one of the best simulation games in history. For all you buyers i would recommend to put it in your wish list but i would call it a must buy game.

This is probably the best console based flight sim created to date, however it is EXTREMELY difficult at times and there are virtually no cheats or codes available for the game. The plot line is a little silly, but honestly who plays a fighter jet sim for plot line??? Overall a very good game and I'd write a more extensive review if I could get past the fortress.

The game was great! But it still had some faults 1. The game develepors spelled beggining bigining.But it still was a fabulous game.2. Some missions were crazy though, and they finished the game when it was getting good. I loved the first mission and the airplanes were wonderful.But most of all I wish there was a sequel.

everything was cool except the aerodynamics on the jets and the way your completely outnumbered by aa guns and battleships and sam launchers,but overall its cool if only you could eject and conntrol the ejection seat and the parachute as it comes down but i give it an 8,very good job by the game developers if it had real crashes it would be a 10, something to shoot for i guess.GOD BLESS YOU ALL

The user interface is pathetic. The music is annoying, can get turned off thankfully. Even the senario grammar is wrong. A game for twelve year-olds by twelve year-olds. Planes look great when standing still.
The mission layout is assinine. And some people actually spend up to a hundred bucks on ebay to get a used one of these....plain crazy.

The game play is light, story line absolutely ridiculous. Compared to other available games on the XBox, this game is definitely one to skip. The graphics need better definition and clarity. Up close, your enemies look foggy and grainy. When the player crashes or is destroyed, nothing but a bright flash and a banner stating "Mission Failed" is displayed. Poor job on the game developers.
