An almost perfect balance of racing sim and arcade fun. | | Craig from Tomsriver n.j. 08753 says (5/Jul/2002): | The best thing about this game is the feel. The control is smooth but not sluggish. The blur effects and the background falling back as if your pupils were dialating give you a great sense of speed. The control is complicated but precise and effective,play with manual shifting and youll wish you had a couple more fingers to work with. Stay on the front break and balance on a sweet endo. Graphics are beautifully done and the lighting and environmental effects are spectacular. The wet tracks are A+. I especially like how the wind turbulence blows sheets of water across the track as you go by. I was a little dissapointed with the mediocre music soundtrack. It does not do this game deservingly. But you can make up for that with the xbox's cd ripping ability. I enjoyed choosing the colors and designs for my riders in the create a rider mode. The only flaw this game has is lack of options. Although for fun's sake the rider and bike doesnt inflict physical damage in a crash, I wished they offered realism settings. If they did this and got some good music, this could be a 10 rather than an 8. Overall if you like competative challenging racing games, I highly reccomend this one.
| Burn rubber or burn the game?? | | Dan from Guildford, England says (6/Jun/2002): | At last a racing game that offers some realism instead of bloody arcade style games that have seemed to grab peoples money for no apparent reason. Ok so the learning curve might seem a bit steep for some ppl (my flat mate still cant play it) but that just makes it more of a chalange, gives the game a bit more longevity. The graphics are eye bleedingly wonderful with the detail going down to individual blades of grass. The sound is a delight, rain souding like rain and the spot on sound of the engines, which brings me to the unlockable extras, how about having the umbrella girls riding the bkes, or make them sound more like a harly? The controlls are nice and simple with the added bonus of being able to move the rider up and down the bike, allowing you to slow down or accelerate faster and pull wheelies, what more could you ask for?? Well maybe better collision physics and damage, or am i asking too much? What can I say the best bike game that i've tried on any platform, oh and dont get it confused with the ps2 game of a similar name as its made by completely different ppl and the xbox game kicks butt. happy gaming
