This Game SUCKS!!! | | Hater 911 from Paris says (21/Apr/2004): | This game is bad. The worst game ever. DON'T BUY THIS GAME. This game is the worst game you can play (besides Pong) it is so bad I almost die playing it. The graphics are not good! The soung is bad.! The gameplay is so bad the game dosen't make sense! The Fun factor is VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY VERY BAD!
The value is -$99999! The lifespan is so bad it will shorten your lifespan by 999 years (if you live that long). Finally THIS GAME IS THE WORST game ever.
| Mike Tyson's Heavyweight Excelence | | Nickenstien from Sheffield, England says (8/Jun/2002): | I have been waiting with baited breath for this game for a long time now, now I own a copy and I am glad they spent a little longer perfecting this awesome title. GFX: The models are big, colourful and stylised, which is a welcome change from the overused and ugly face scan techniques used in so many games now, which only give the pitiful end result of a photograph badly stretched over a cardboard box. The boxers actualy get totaly-messed-up, bulging-black-eyes and bloody-bust-noses!!!!!!. The stadia are big and very atmospheric and even feature real 3d animated crowd members who react to the action. Lots of smoke, light riggings and camera flashes really give an authentic atmosphere. The overall presentation is great with tons of cinematic scenes for ring entries and mid round bits with the cut-men and the ring girls. (Incidentally I have been playing this game non-stop since I bought it and I don’t think I have seen the exact same ring girl twice yet!!) SFX: Jaw breaking -THWACK- sounds when you land a solid uppercut or hook adds lots to the effect of actually hitting someone. It also features a very clever commentary system, which does _NOT_ repeatedly talk over the action, but instead between matches you actually get two guys having an intelligible conversation about the fight and exactly where things went wrong or right. I had a friend round to play it last night, and we both made custom boxers, mine was called "ANTHONY 'CRUSHER' BADASS" and my friend was called "JONATHON 'KILLER' SMITH". When we had a two-player bout, the ring announcer, announced us as "KILLER" and "CRUSHER" as you would expect. But then to our amazement, the mid-round commentators referred to us both as 'JOHN' and 'TONY'. Having the ability to make my own boxer, and then having my very own name recognised and spoken really made me feel part of the action. GAMEPLAY: It was little tricky to get used to the control system to begin with, however once I had, I was pulling off brutal combos and knocking my opponents all over the ring. In the standard title belt modes, to start with it is very easy, but this is good, as you have to learn how the controls work. But then the learning curve goes through the roof, as each opponent gets tougher than the last. By the time you eventually meet Tyson for the last fight in gold belt mode, he is furiously hard to beat. But when I eventually did, the satisfaction was amazing, as a huge bonus it unlocked TWO extra games modes. TYSONS CHALLENGE and UNDISPUTED CHAMP. In Tyson’s challenge you play as the man himself and must floor everyone in the game at thier hardest. Undisputed champ is a survival game mode where you must destroy every opponent with your custom boxer, ALL IN ONE GO WITHOUT ANY BREAKS. The custom boxer editor is superb, allowing you to tweak everything from the size of your nose, colour of your chest hair, style of your beard to your entry style, theme music and taunt. This is the best custom character creator I have ever seen in a game. It also allows you spend your purse money on upgrading all of your stats like speed and strength, you can also buy the signature punches of the pro-boxing chumps you have defeated. I have read other Reviews/Previews in which people have moaned about not being able to be Tyson from the start. Firstly, YOU CAN in the two player game modes. Secondly, once you have defeated Tyson he is UNLOCKED along with two great game modes. So you get the best of both worlds. By playing hard you get the satisfaction of earning Tyson long before you have completed the game. In my opinion, the ability to pick Tyson from the outset would have destroyed this game, as there would be nothing to really strive for and achieve. The way I have been playing is with MY custom boxer who is essentially ME. So I play as MYSELFE, and work my way up to defeating Tyson, highly satisfying. This game isn’t over by the time you unlock Tyson, its just beginning!!!!! Summing up: I truly love this game, it is a high speed action packed thriller, feels great controlling you brawler, Has tons of unlocks, Best custom fighter thing ever, lovely graphics, great sound. In short, 'Mike Tyson Heavyweight Boxing' is to other boxing video games what the 'Rocky' movie series is to real boxing, MUCH MORE EXCITING!!!
