Good Game Play,Good Story, Usually don't get both |
| UNInspector from Denver, USA says (8/Nov/2003): |
The truth of the matter is that this is not the Best game I have ever played... but it WAS good. I think the story line is quite a bit better then what we have seen lately. I have always been partial to games with good story lines. If your like me pick up Shenmue 2. Great Game.

Not the best but close. |
| Mike from Chicago, IL (if you dont know what country its in your dumb) says (5/Sep/2002): |
If your experienced with all different kinds of games this game is alright and easy to understand. The camera angles only sucked during fist fights whenever it would change on me and I couldn't see only hear me getting my ass kicked. Other then that the camera choice is actually very useful. I agree on graphics i've seen better, and blood shed isn't that great PERFECT DARK showed better affects blood wise when you'd shoot them. But battling in this game has passed many others the gun fights are very realistic, SOUND?... I wouldn't be able to tell the difference... gameplay... it's easier to move around in this game then in others it can keep you interested but your Lifespan isn't always the best one minute you can have full life and the next you can feel your heart beating cause your so dead. Fun Factor yeah it's fun as long as your not cheated, people poppin up next to you (out of nowhere) while your trying to fight for your life gets annoying after the first few times and there were lots of other parts that I thought were completly crap. Originality, story line isn't realistic, but there was ALOT of clever things added into the game not just shoot, shoot you did get to do other things that required a technique better then pull the trigger. The only thing that I really hated about the game was AMMO after so many years of games like GOLDENEYE and PERFECT DARK naturally I run in shooting and shooting fast and when I only get 30 bullets it's very irritating

One of the BEST games from any system..EVER! |
| DonJuan06970 from Shreveport(La) USA says (16/Sep/2002): |
This has to be one of the most challenging and diverse games there has ever been by far. Those who whine about the difficulty must not appriciate a true gaming experience. I hate games that i can finish in 3 hours. The different actions and jobs you must preform in this game make it all the better. My complaints: the auto targeting must not have a proximity variable in it because it sometimes targets enemies far off when you have one right in front of you. Plus the graphics could have been a little better. this game is for true gamers who enjoy a challenge!!

A good game |
| RICBRNR from Youngstown, Ohio says (11/Nov/2002): |
Dead to rights is a sweet game. When I just got it, before even playing it I thought the hole dog thing was going to be a little hokey. Then after playing for a few minutes I realized how much I came to love and enjoy shadow's company. After the first couple levels I came across many, and I mean many snags in the game. Hard parts became easy as harder parts arrived during game play. The mini games were a nice addition to the game because you took a break from the usual sharrade of just shooting the crap out of everything in sight and you became more involved with the task at hand. Currently I am stuck on Fahook(is that his name?). Now I feel like a pie cause I do not even remember the bad guy I am trying to beat up. Its the guy on chapter 14, I am fighting him on the tail end of the plane. I know I have to fight him till his health level goes down then I have to shoot the bottle. And I am also aware you have to do this a few times to eventually break the bottle and ultimately finish him off at the end. Boy is this tough though. I have been stuck on this part for over a week now, but ya know what? Thats what a video game is all about. Remember original nintendo? Not 64, not super nintendo. I am talking the old-school 8-bit nintendo. How many of you beat any of the mario brothers in one week?? NONE OF YOU, thats how many. So why don't you all put your big boy/ big girl pants on and play the game how it should be. Codes are for people who like to cheat, and easy games are the games I feel like I wasted my money on cause then I have a game that I can beat easily, what fun is that? If you enjoy easy games, just go beat-up on your little brother or sister. You do not need a video game to easily beat something.

For All Those Little People Who Complain! |
| James from Scarborough, Ontario says (8/Dec/2002): |
This is no max payne. DTR puts max payne to shame, The ability to use ppl as human shields and disarm them are qualities that max payne could never have. I must say that the bullet time in MP was and is better than DTR's but still. MP gets so boring once you beat the first 2 times. When you firs play it "Yeah it's sooo $#< remove me > at !ing wicked, i'm buying it for sure" well it's a waste of money once you beat it. I was hoping that the difficulty setting in max payne (new york minute) was more of a challenge. The concept of you whiners claiming that this game sucks is an outrage. Don't complain about a game that you idiots can't beat! Just sit down and get through it. Once you start to listen to the story line and get used to the idea of whats going on then it will be alot better than max payne. I meen who are you kidding, can max use canisters and chuck them at ppl then blow them up? NO! Can Max use ppl as shields? NO! Can Max use a dog companion to take out that last bad guy when you have no ammo and are low on health? you know the answer! So for those of you who have never played it b4 i would recomend it. Of course max payne is a good game and all but get serious. DTR is far superior than what it is originally supposed to be. The game play is amazing, the sound quality is amazing, but the only problem with it is the camera. but it adjusts itself when playing. I have to give namco credit tho, the idea of jack to be a k-9 cop. is actually quite amusing. No one has ever done a game like that. So for all those ppl who look for challenges in games i would highly recomend this one!

Challenging |
| LilWebby from Minnetonka, Minnesota, Unites States says (14/Dec/2002): |
The game test yours skills and stratagies, need to fast and smart. This game is not for begginers. Takes alot of time. Need to do many spots more then once to see how to make it through. Some spots u need to just run through others u need to take your time and snipe out everyone u can or wait for them to some to u. The graphics are alright and the voices are great. The varity of guns to choose from is good and the the dog "Shadow" is a great add to the game incase u are in trouble or have low ammo. Parts of the game u might need to look online to figure out how to get past expecially the bosses becuase each one has it's own weakness or way of beating them. Some bosses u attack others u wait til they attack u first. That's why this game tests u on how well u are able to change your ways of playing. If u do the same stratigy through the whole game u wont make it very far at all. Thats why i believe this a great game to own but it sucks that it is only one player, but two or more players for this game would be very hard to create.

Dead to Rights |
| Rod Trussardi from Kent. United Kingdom says (25/Feb/2003): |
Dead to Rights,ermm....i must say its pretty cool very similar to Max Payne but more in your face!! Gameplay is fantastic only let down is the graphics, FMV intro movie is so cool its a shame they didnt carry it on with the games cut scenes. The bullet time action is just BAD-ASS!!! Mini games are a wicked idea just to break down the repetition of the game, camera angles can be annoying at time but its good that you can change them in the options. Weapons a lovely selection well done boys! oh especially the shoot the canister in bullet time and BOOM!!! overall mad and in yer face max payne style shooter but with more BOOM!! a bit of a let down in the graphics department doesnt push the specs of the box to its limits like some other games i.e. Splinter Cell, Halo, etc. But easy to put up and play highly additive!

Blows max payne away |
| joey catz from cherryhill, nj, usa says (21/Aug/2002): |
Today is the first day that dead to rights came out and i woke up real early to get it and i am soo glad i did. this gae takes everything i loved about max payne and turns it up a notch, you only have to play the game for 2 minutes before u even see a hooker!!! the reason im only giving it a 9 is because i dont think that u can jump in the game unless its in bullet time. this game so far has been alot more challenging then max payne also. So far this is the best game out for a 3rd person shooter!!!!
|
dead to rights is a pretty good game |
| jeremy .l from calabassas california usa says (21/Aug/2002): |
it is filled with action and blood but the one mistake in the game was the graphics they are not very good at all but the game pretty much takes place for the graphics, there are many other good parts in this game but i would not want to spoil it for u, so go buy it and have a blast
|
This game could have been a winner |
| overspray from Toledo, Ohio,USA says (23/Aug/2002): |
The concept was good, graphics were poor, ther was no real basis behind this game except shoot shoot shoot, the game was ok, ther could have been more adventure behind it... at least in Max Payne ther was mor srat involved in it...oh well that is my opinion..hell I thought the grapics in POW was bad too..that was a let down too as well..on to Buffy now
|
fuckin crazy |
| chris from fall river,ma says (23/Aug/2002): |

dead to rights review |
| D-dub from lima, ohio says (23/Aug/2002): |
pretty much, in this game has its good and bad times, the game has very good, blood effects, they being able to hold somebody as a body shield is a great thing for the game. it has ok graphics, not the best and not the worst. The game is worth a few rents from the video store, but not a buyer, but i say you should find out yourself, rent it. If you like it buy it what else can i say except for the Freakin Controls, your in charge of camera angleing and the shooter.

Dead to Rights is Right |
| Chris from Ashland, MA says (24/Aug/2002): |
I got this game the day it came out, and I was very pleased with it. It is awesome, I think better than Max Payne on a few levels. One thing that is cool is the diversity, with the minigames, but they can get really aggrivating and hard. Its a good fun game with lots of cool moves you can do, but its hard. If your expecting easy play, dont buy it, this game is for the hardcore gamers who like a challenge and to be in control of everything.
|
This game is hot but it is no Max Payne!!! |
| Phat from Atlanta, Ga, USA says (24/Aug/2002): |
I went out and rented the game before i decided to buy it because i have went out and bought games that didn't live up to the expectations. Well this game is hot. Max Payne had a better plot but the two games are similar plot wise. I like the human shield and the disarm moves are hott. This game is worth buying. If you liked Max Payne then you should enjoy this game. The graphics are good and the movies in between chapters look way better than Max Payne. Buy this game, its hot. Phat Da Young God. Holla

man o man this a good game |
| matriarch of xbox says (25/Aug/2002): |
this game is great! i played it for hours until i thought my controller was gonna break! graphics are great stroyline is okay plenty of disarms to keep the everwanting player happy though i did think that u coulndnt find out how to do the disarms but had to unlock them was little bit stupid but the human sheild part was excellent:) overall i thought the dog was cool. I found it funny with the weightlifting though i did like the lockpick minigames bomb disarms ok but hell this game is cool lots of turns and twists (and i dont mean the sounds from the massage parlor:) that will keep u on the edge of ur seat.

Only for Hard-Core Gamers |
| echo127 from Houston, Texas USA says (25/Aug/2002): |
Well this game is kinda like Max Pain, MGS, and The Bouncer all combined into one. I like the fact that the guy is a K-9 officer and can use his dog during the battles. The one downside is that this game only has one difficulty setting: HARD AS FREAKIN HELL! I dunno what those other guys where sayin about the graphics cuz i think they are was better then Max P's graphics. but dont expect to have this game beaten in a week like Max P. And you gotta love the Dance Dance Revolution, Stripper style mini game. I think this is a first rent, then buy game.

A Bullet Joy Fest |
| TJ Garcia aka Lord T6 from Dallas, TX says (25/Aug/2002): |
I been playing Dead to Rights for the past for days non-stop. I love the Max Payne type game play it has into it; but, the graphics could be better. I'm sure if there is a DTR 2 they will go all out and buff up on the details. The game play is great but for the few times the camra angel does seem to make a mess of things. The sounds on DTR are very realistic and makes it seem like you are really being shot at from all around. The score is very nice and puts the right mood into the game. If you haven't got Dead to Rights I highly recommand you do so; it is one game you do not want to miss out on for XBOX, so go out and get your little fithy hands on it! What can be better then going around shooting bad guys, seeing a striper dance, and bullet-time? Need I say more?

Dead To Rights : A Max Payne Clone that leaves you wanting more...kind of... |
| Joe King from Indianapolis, IN USA says (26/Aug/2002): |
It is unfair to classify this game as simply a "Max Payne Clone." The gameplay is very straightforward and quite easy to master. There are also many innovative features that are unique and are very well executed in this genre of action game. The use of Shadow (the dog) adds some excitement and sometimes can be a lifesaver (especially if you are low on life or out of ammo!!). Graphically, DTR leaves something to be desired. Many levels become visually repetitive and seem hastily assembled. Lighting effects and shadowing could have added some spice to the level design, but the lack of such additions make the graphics seem flat.
The sound effects make up for what the graphics lack. The use of Dolby Digital Surround really draw the gamer into the game. Enemy chatter, gunshots, shells dropping, and the voice acting are very well done. The SFX and music create an atmosphere that set the tone for the level and add to the drama of the story.
Overall, I think Dead To Rights is a great game for fans of the Action/Shooter genre. The timing of its release in a summer of poor gaming choices make this a sure buy. If you are just looking for a good game to keep you happy until something great comes out, get this game!

It was ok |
| Casey from Bay City,MI says (26/Aug/2002): |
This game had its problems like hand to hand fighting, it was to hard. And who cares about a hooker its a game a few thousand polygons put a half nude woman together big deal. I already beat it and it was a pain in the ass. Toooo hard at the end it took me 4 hours just to beat the last level (chp. 15) it was a cool game but not like a john woo film. i mean in max payne you could dodge bullets alot more but in this you get hit way to many times. Anyway I still liked it.
|
max is suckiness to this game |
| crazy from California says (27/Aug/2002): |
This is game is the greatest! whats these kids talkin about the graphics on this game is crappy?? the graphics are good! and the movies are sweet! since when do you get a dog in max payne that tears criminals apart?? Shadow rules in this game! Well i think this game is awesome! and its definitely a keeper, but i dont like how you cant jump, but oh well you can dive!
