This really sucks!

Brent Miller from Monona, USA says (18/Aug/2003):
I dont reccomend this game to anyone. I still get my butt kicked even against the pirates when i am the diamondbacks. I think midway games should really work on their AI levels. This game looks cool but you cant judge a book by its cover. the graphics suck because they are definately not X-BOX grade. The commentary is funny for about a half an hour then it sounds like a broken record. some of the things they say dont make any sense. Controls are easy to understand but when you are playing the game, they are very confusing.I think this game wont last very long, why?, it sucks horribly. I am giving this game a 1 for trying, but to me it is a ground out. dont blow 20 bucks on this horrible game.

IMpossible to beat at any level17564

Agustin Gonzalez from Redwood City, Cali says (15/Feb/2003):
This is, simply put, the worst sports game I've ever played! At first before I played this game I thought it was awesome becuase you could hit the other players and stuff, but it got boring real quick. It's sooo frustrating to play defense, because the ball is hit so darn hard!!!! Its impossible to beat even on trainee (the easiest level) with the Seattle Mariners (they have the best stats) against Tampa Bay Devil Rays (the worst team) If any of u guys who read this knos how to play defense EFFICIENTLY then feel free to e-mail me. Well, sure, the batting is somewhat fun, but that's about it. if someone out there can give me some advice on playing D then please please, PLEASE email me, becuase I don't want to feel like I wasted even the twenty bucks that I spent on this game! I mean, There's not even create a player mode! and the defense is so eye-popping good that they will rob you of almost everything! I gave this a three because the graphics are pretty good, but that's about the only aspect of the game that's good. Everything in this game is mediocre except the gameplay which is completely HORRIBLE. I'm sorry to all you Slugfest fans who really love this game, but I'm not gonna change my mind unless someone convinces me that this game is actually beatable, and I know for a fact that none of you are gonna do that!

Very Crappy Game15677

Jim Calico from Paris, TN says (18/Jan/2003):
slugfest is a terrible game. One thing is that the players can do things that no one can do in real life. Second you can't trade players even in season mode. There is also no create a player mode. The computer is impossible to beat on any level. Even on trainee mode the computer beats the crap outta you. You also only get 3 pitchers per team. You can't change the line-up or even substitute players (except for pitchers) in game. The graphics in this game aren't good either. Everyone is round, stomach, thighs, arms it doesn't matter they are built up of squares and circles. The announcers in the game are funny for the first few games but after that you will just want them to shut up. This game isn't even an original idea. It's like blitz on a baseball field. I don't reccomend this game to anybody and if you have it i reccomend selling it before everyone realizes how crappy it is.

Slugfest 20-039536

xxinsomniac from Kansas City, Kansas USA says (9/Sep/2002):
I don't know what you people that have problems with this game are thinking. It is a very good game. If your a big sports fan I recomend this to you. Player interactions after every play and more! They shoulda added a homerun derby, but other than that MINOR, very MINOR setback, it is awesome!

A gamer from isla vista, ca, USA says (25/Jul/2002):
been waiting for a good baseball game with decent play action for the ps2 since it came out, and the commercial alone sold me on this one. I don't regret my purchase. This is the best baseball game i have evr played.

You can't even beat the game8651

A gamer from OH says (24/Jul/2002):
When you first start evrything is cool until 3 hours later you figure that the game is almost unbeatable. Why by a game when you can;t win the easiest level of the game. Maybe it's just me I'm not a baseball fan at all but I do know what is a good game or not.

You gotta be a ballplayer!8490

A gamer from San Martin, Cali, USA says (17/Jul/2002):
If you don't play baseball and your just a gaming geek then this game will bore the hell out of you. However, for us ballplayers this game if probably the best one to come out since Baseball Stars on the first Nintendo. This is a game that lets the athletes around have some fun. I could see why it may be boring for some. Yet, as a ballplayer thisw game rocks.

Good, but not great8386

Nipple Sucker from California, USA says (11/Jul/2002):
Midway's first chance at a baseball game, it was a very good first try, although it gets repetetive, and even a little boring. The computer is nearly impossible to beat at any level above pro. I would recommend renting before buying. I have friends who aren't big sports fans that really enjoyed the game.

Why Hate ???8359

Ron Davis from Seattle, WA, USA says (10/Jul/2002):
MLB Slugfest is Midway's first attempt at a baseball game, and they definitely hit a homerun. The players have uncanny abilities, realistic attributes, and attitude. As a pitcher, you can throw some serious heat or a multitude of junk pitches including a screwball that actually travels in a corkscrew motion. You have four pitches which can all be enhanced by pressing the turbo button, so you actually have eight pitch varieties. As a batter, you can choose contact swing or power swing and they can be enhanced with turbo as well. Every time I Jack a homer and the ball has smoke trailing behind it, I think of how grateful I am for spending my fifty bucks on such a beautiful, action packed game. Let's not forget that there hasn't been a worth-while baseball video game since Baseball Stars on NES. Midway has created a baseball fan's dreams with Slugfest and I can not put it down. Midway all the Way, Baby.

Same old Crap8340

Wes from newport news, va says (9/Jul/2002):
THe first hour or so of playing this game was fun but then it got old and now I regret buying it. There's no home run derby, no batting practice or fielding practice. You only get 3 choices of pitchers for each team and you can't arrange your lineup the way you want it. You have to consider the fact that midway made the game so it is exactly like NFL blitz. Everything in the game is repetitive; the same player reactions, pitches, everything repeats itself.. I would not recomend buying this game until you have rented it and enjoyed it. I plan on getting rid of it.

Is Slugfest Worth Buying?8115

Tom "Fido" McElrath from Tallmadge OH USA says (27/Jun/2002):
I have owned this game only two days and it already it getting on the boring side. Why you ask? Because it is just like every other Midway game, it even has the same start menu as blitz (20-02). It is however interesting for about the first hour you play it. There's nothing like watching Jim Thome beat up the pitcher that just pegged him in the head! But like most things it gets repetitive, it might be funny the first 3 times you see it but you just want to skip it after seeing it so many times (Which you can not do). Also they made the game kind of strange in the difficulty department, I found that there is hardly a difference between Trainee, and Pro. But this game isn't all bad; it still has some very witty commentators, and fast paced action that you can expect from all Midway games. Midway also included its famous "On Fire Mode" which makes it nearly impossible for the player not to get a hit or for that matter a homerun. This game IS worth getting but you will be better off if you waited until the price drops a little. Check it out even if your a non-sports fan, you might be surprised and like it.
