good but could be better |
| GST from NYC,USA says (15/Sep/2003): |
This game is more good than bad.I agree with various complaints about only advancing to 2oth level, that blows. However this is still a great game. Not to mention the fact that I have beaten the game with several different characters (on hard I might add)
so I dont get the complaints about the last battle being to hard or the fact that you need to level up a certain way everyone of my characters is nothing like the other. So if you are having trouble beating it you should try destroying the other trapped Jedis when Malak goes to power up.

What Else? 10!!! |
| A gamer from New Orlenas, Louisiana, USA says (13/Sep/2003): |
This game is the best star wars game i have ever played in my life. the fighting took some getting used to, but even though you cant control arm movements i love it. the strategy in this game is excellent. my most favorite part is that you have to choose the right wording and stuff to get through the game. if you consider, MAKE A SECOND!!!

Knights of the "bugged" republic |
| chrisdawg from fayettenam, NC-USA says (10/Sep/2003): |
First, if you are a fan of "Star-Wars" by all means buy this game--you have waited your entire life for this. Now, for the rest of you who are just slight fans or not at all, rent first. This is not the best, second, third, or even fourth best game on the XBOX. The story line is well thought out--based on the Dark Horse comic series. The problems are in the mechanics of the game. The turn-based/real-time fights bored the crap out of me. The game freezes for some reasons depending on different upgrades you may aquire (for me it was whenever I would lay a mine). It is also a pain in my ass when I land on a planet with full understanding of what to do just to have the next six NPC (non-player characters) give me stupid side-quests, and they are stupid! The Pod-racing thing was also STUPID!!! Every magazine and fan of the game explains this as if its "Wipe-out" (playstation futuristic racing game for those who dont know). The premise is as follows--push the A button and hold to start the craft, then let go and press the A button again (which the screen will display for you). Last dodge the rocks and hit the arrows to boost your speed. Oh did I mention that you race alone and only in a straight line? OK enough of my ranting--the basics of the game are well done. The graphics are decent (I've seen much beter on the Dreamcast), the sounds and voice acting are well done. The control isnt really that important since you dont control much other than yourself running around. Nothing complicated. The game is good though, I had to bash it a little just so people would take notice that Star-Wars fans do not run the world!! There are much better games out there for every system--even the turbo grafix 16. Ouch, I know that hurt but its true. Splatterhouse rules!!

Great game but ending is bad |
| jerry from USA says (5/Sep/2003): |
The game was great. I must have spent days playing this game. Loved it. But the problem is that when you beat it all you get is a stupid cinema. I wanted to play as darth revan. Whats up with that. Also the game would lock up a few times. So to Bioware for next star wars game make it like this one just make it like never end have like 50 thousand worlds, yeah that woudl kick, and stop making it lock up. BUt if you havent played this game yet and are thinking about it believe me get it. it is most defiently the best game ever made for the xbox.
|
Very well thought out. |
| DaBomb says (30/Aug/2003): |
If your interested in just playing games with no story where you beat someone up, play mortal kombat. Without the picking your attacks system the game would be total havic! I admit, the game is a little incomplete, a few freezings but nothing major, it didnt ruin my day when I had to restart the game every once in awhile. Payed $45 for a used one. Its not hard so far at all and im very cloes to beating it, havent gotten stuck once yet, its not hard but yet its not easy as in boring, its always surprising me! As for graphics, what the heck have you all been playing?! These graphics are crisp and nice. I didnt even notice the songs. VERY ADDICTIVE

My Review of Star Wars KOTOR |
| Toxiorb from USA says (29/Aug/2003): |
I beat Star War KOTOR in about three days. The best part about the game is all the chouces you get. like being on the dark or light side. you get to choose your speech. Plus there are a whole bunch of twists in the story. The first time i beat it i chose dark side. but this is a game you should really play more the once. so i started a new file and i'm going on the light side. another part i liked is how you have nine friends which you can choose two out of. the graphics on the game were pretty good, but i've seen better. how long the game is, depends on what choices you make in the game.

This is Awesome! |
| Gaiden from FWB, FL USA says (27/Aug/2003): |
I think this game is so cool! I have been addicted to it since i bought it. I beat the game as a sith lord, and being creul and mean was pretty fun. Especially when you get to the mysterious planet. That chara was a male and now i am starting over a a female light side person. I dont know how it will turn out because the female game is different than the male game.

hmmm this is a no brainer by kotor!!! |
| A gamer from stratford connecticut united states says (25/Aug/2003): |
I bout kotor almost right when it came out.I have to say im obsessed with the game i cant stop playing it.The storyline is pretty good.the only thing i dont like about it is you are limited bto wear you can trave.I have collected i tihnk 4 starmaps and now im stuck at the part where i fight the apprentice on korriban wich is pissing me off.But the game is so addicting it drags me in.The game fighting system is awesome you get to plan ahead like attack critacil attack then umm i dont know anything you want to add, its mostly about strategy.today when i played i found myself punching a wall because i couldnt beat the apprentice...I love kotor more than anyother star wars game.Evev though there is no cool starship fighting it stilled kicked a**.People might tll me whatabout the ebon hawk?Well its not that cool like in the other games...Chose your own path, pazaak, swoop racing it never ends.I prefer the dark side..ten out of Ten no brainer.

my #1 game of the year for 2003 |
| A gamer from IN,USA says (22/Aug/2003): |
Before I never rally liked games where you had to imput moves instead of doing everything yourslf but now that i have played it it is my new favorite game. The graphics are great, it is very originallity, and you can choose to be light or dark good or evil. How can you beat that? once i got the gome (3 days after it came out)i was hooked and beat it in another 3 days on dark and now i am working on light. the game if fairly short when compared to a few others but as far as gameplay goes it has blown every single prvious star wars game into ity bity microscopic pieces. I can't count how many hours i've spent playing this gome since I got it, but the only time I stop is to get food, go to the bathroom, or to go to school. that is why Star Wars Knights of the old republic is my favorite game for the year 2003.
|
It's a great game, of course! |
| Jean-Luc Poissonnet from Quebec, Canada says (21/Aug/2003): |
I am a fan of RPG games, as Baldur's Gate, Fallout or Morrowind... And Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic is now one of my favorite title. I wont write a long review, but in summary, this game has not many bugs, I played about 100 hours, and the games froze about 1 or 2 times. If you liked star wars films, you will probably like the story of the game. During your adventure you will have some help, as Jedi, wookie and some other non player character (NPC). One thing, I didn't like, it is that compared to Morrowind, or Fallout, you dont have the freedom to do what you want to. If someday, you are angry, and you want to kill a civilian, or want to rob a merchant, you can't. If you want to explore the entire planet, you are very restricted, you can't go on your own explore the entire planet ( like you can do in morrowind). Finally, Star Wars : Knights of the Old Republic is a great game, if you like RPG buy it, fun to come.(But i think that Fable will be better anyway, hehe, do what you want, its your money.)

Star Wars meets D&D, An unbeatable tagteam! |
| Hazard Decourt from Robertsdale, AL, USA says (20/Aug/2003): |
The game is very engaging. If you like Baldurs Gate I and II, or even Icewind Dale I and II, you will LOVE Star Wars: KOTOR! The character creation system is fantastic, you may be limited to certain faces, but nobodies perfect. You get to see a new history of Star Wars 4000 years before the Star Wars that we know and love today. You have download content for all you Xbox LIVE users to get your hands on for updates (read instructions for more info). You even have ambidexterity (aka two weapon fighting) which is starting to develop in most of the Bioware games today. If you ever wanted to take your rping to a futuristic atmosphere, plus relive a past time in a 3rd Edition Dungeons and Dragons style of playing, then this is the game for you. The chapters are not as long as planned and the max level is 20, but this is a success for Bioware! You have a swell freedom of which side you want to be on and you have workbenches to tone certain equipment up with addons at. If you hate Star Wars, you may still like the game if you are interested in Dungeons and Dragons. It has a reinforced stat system so you can't make those cheap characters with the 1 charisma and 20 strength along with 20 dexterity, and 20 constitution and hardly any wisdom or intelligence (Cheap method in D&D sessions for survival). The classes are passable too, plus they have tests to attain the Jedi status. 10 *s all the way!!!

cool game |
| chris from USA NY frewsburg 14738 says (18/Aug/2003): |
this game is really hard ( for me ) i just got the game 4 days ago and i am pretty far i like how u can choose each side. I chose the game for malak on the screen and the double light sabers, graghics and just STAR WARS. i bought the game at wal mart for $ 52.00 bucks. its allot but it is worth it. this game is one of my favorites. I have soround sound so the games music is loud and great. I gave it ********** stars for thew graphics people dark side , light side new pepole and can create ur own person, and more light saber action, and last of all ,game play. This star wars game ouyt matches them all bye alot the moves on the game or real and don't freeze like an other system. this game is in the lead until a better star wars game comes out. Remember i rated it ********** stars for the best game play bye

Game of the Year, even for non RPG fans |
| Matt G. from Long Valley, New Jersey says (17/Aug/2003): |
Most of the Star Wars games in the past were really not great games, but this one is amazing! I hate RPG's and I always have but this game is so good, it's the best game this year and the best RPG ever. In the game, you go to 7 different planets, fly on this awesome ship, learn to be a jedi, and choose between being on the dark side or the light side. The best part of it is, you get to pick your color lightsaber and they even have double bladed lightsabers! How sweet is that? I adise everyone to buy this game, it is the second best game I have ever played next to Halo.

Sooooo close............Soooo very close |
| A gamer from denver,usa says (16/Aug/2003): |
The game was awesome. I absolutely hate the idea of fighting in turns, however. Bioware did a good job though of making the attacks quicker, but it would be better in real time. Overall, it was finally a good star wars game. Only suggestions are real-time fighting and perhaps making it a 2 player rpg. Example: Halo is a 2 player rpg and its the highest selling game. Hopefully there will be a sequel with more than 1 player.

BEST GAME IN THE WORLD |
| PHILIP from BC says (13/Aug/2003): |

One Of the Best Games I Ever Played |
| Bill Denny from Baldwinsville, USA says (13/Aug/2003): |
Star Wars: Knights of the Old Republic is one of my absolute favorites! With different responses that decide if you are going to be on the light or dark side, the games really rocks. It does however have a few flaws, I think the game should be a lot longer, I mean, I beat it in 35 hours of gameplay, it should be around 60 hours. And flaw number two, I would like to be part of the fighting, not just commanding my character to do stuff. The good side of that is I can hit pause and tell all my party members to do something, than hit un-pause and watch them do it! It would be even better if you didn't have to be human, it would be cool being a twil'ek jedi! And more bad guys like the rancor and kraite dragon they were realy cool to! Over all, it is a extremely good games, and I hope there will be another star wars game a lot like it without the flaws. I congradulate the makers of this game for making such an awesome game!!!!!!!

Excellent Game for all Who love RPG's |
| SWfan350SBC from Rockford, IL USA says (13/Aug/2003): |
This game is very additive as others have said. Take advantage of your X-box's hard drive and save multiple players at mulitple times so you can come back and do things differently. The game has a steep learning curve at first but then it becomes very envolved and keeps you wondering what if I would have done this... Both sides are fun and the transit mode is a life saver from all the running USE IT it cuts time. The Mini games are fun and so is the whole game. A must have for all game fans. I paid 49.95 at Target for my copy so its not a bad price. I love the stategy involved and the fact that you can self heal when you become a Jedi. Another plus is the pause before a fight. What else can I say but A+

The Star Wars game fans have been waiting for!!!Finally!!! |
| spacemanalec from Sacramento, California says (12/Aug/2003): |
After years of crap from lucas the star wars following we finally have a game that lives up to the story. The gameplay which can be daunting at the beginning becomes worthwhile after learning the ways of the force as both a dark or light jedi. the system is inventive and except for a couple of freezing problems is near perfect (save often is the best advice). The character development is interesting with many different angles you can pursue. All in all this is the best star wars game to ever hit a peronal consle and lets hope this will finally put an end to terrible star wars games and bring in an era of well thought out games. Hopefully we can see something like Masters of Tera kasi 2.

dark side RULES! |
| MR . Teske from Canda, ont. says (12/Aug/2003): |
Overall best RPG to hit the xbox in 2003. Having the option to be either part of the light side or the dark side gives gameplayers very different ways of playing the game. I decided when I bought it to play it light first, and the game was pretty cool! But now playing the game on the dark side contains way more cinematic sceen's such as: beginning a conversation with the computer A.I. and after a few threats you get to choke him into submitting to your every will! Fun and realistic gameplay!
