Good game,But... I could have been MUCH longer |
| Dingodile66 :P from Scotland,Edinburgh :P says (1/Dec/2005): |
Well If you ask me, way back in 2002 when this was comming out, i thought it sounded great.I'm a huge LOTR fan and i think this could have been better ALOT better.
Now Problem was it's too short i mean a 300/400 page book surely you can fit more in it than 7 levels! And the evels are short and rather quick. Add up to about 5 hours f play.
Gameplay
It seeems good, It's a shame only getting to play as 3 characters Frodo,Aragorn and Gandalf. Now, enimeies can be tough to kill such as the orcs and Same with the Trolls.Sword skills are quite lame it's 3 or 4 stirkes. Range is ok, Frodo throws Rocks,Apples,Dwarf and elven shots,As Aragorn shoots wooden, steel and Fire arrows.Gandalf Kicks ass with his magic.
Now playing as Frodo can be fun like using the ring, but his attacks can be a load of Cack esspisely against Trolls and such, but most of Frod's enimies will be Wolfs, bees, a few orcs, ghosts. His hardest foe would be the Barrow white.
His ammo dosen't do much except from fire crackers which blast orcs.Aragorn My favioutret Character, has some poweful moves Swinging his sword is so much fun, He can crush Trolls abd orcs don't put up a challange, still it's most fun i got in this game, Just not enough fights with him.His archery could be emproved by the time you fire the first shot the enemy is alredy next to you.And some do terrrible amout of damage.Gandalf is still the same as aragorn but sword wise he's not to good. His magic is the best to use and can kill orcs in hit.
Graphics.
This is the part where most ranting goes,But i found the graphics rather good they make it seem like middle earth witch is good the characters are nicly done aswell
Well can't be botherd writing anymore so here's the ratings :P
Graphics: 7/10 there good.
Sound 6/10 still good but some voices are bad (Gandalf :|)
Gamplay 6/10 it's good king of Zeldaish but still good.
lifespan 4 why cuz it's short.
Funfactor 6/10 well some levels are fun other are bad.
Overall 6/10
Good game fun but can be boring and dull.

The #1 worst game I've played for ps2 |
| tony from St. Louis MO says (9/Nov/2003): |
The movies...were great. Made me want to get the game. I'm a damn sucker. Graphics: good, not ps2 quality though. Story: Had no idea what was going on, and I watched the movie! The characters didnt act like they act, didnt look like they look. Gameplay: Boooorrriinnnggg! Fighting strtegy simple. On the last boss, all I had to do was stand in one place and shoot arrows at it. Zzzzzzzzzz. If you want the Lord of the Rings experience, and have money to spend, buy the DVDs. The game is as fun as tic-tac-toe.

amazing fighting game |
| Kristopher from Sioux City, IA USA says (25/Oct/2003): |
the graphics were pretty good on my account. every person is entitled to their own opinions on how the characters looked, as long as the quality of the character remains. and it did. i felt as strongly for these characters as i did for the movie characters. i wish the game was longer, i know its difficult going based on the book, but i wanted to kill more orcs. the fighting. its the best ive seen so far. the camera moves perfectly, making it really feel like it is action packed. i wish diablo or even neverwinter nights you fighting styles like this. the would make them so fun. pushing a button to pull out your bow and shoot instead of pausing equipping, and the using. they did a great job on this game, i played from the start to the end, only 5 hours, but it was great. hated the ending though. no cheats, cant go back to any of the stages, no fun. anyways, i hope they make a second and third cuz the movie version video game gets boring pretty fast, especially when youre doing stages over to get stupid perfects with you weopons. dont buy but it would be a good rent.

Horrible! |
| A gamer from New York (New York) U.S.A says (29/Aug/2003): |
Not only does this game lack any realistic fight scenes, they altered the places, and locations of the story. The graphics are appalling, and the characters are poorly modeled. If you don't have this game, don't get it. If you want to spend the money on a game, buy something with cheats, lots of them, or something with a good storyine, and charaters.

Lord of the Rinrgs: Fellowship of the Ring is thee most boring game of all |
| A gamer from texas says (12/Aug/2003): |
i hate this game. no codes thats dumb. why is this game out.i mean the characters r good but put all the characters on. even my little brother hates it.make the game more enteresting for us gamers.put a horse we can ride or something. this game is good in the first level.but the rest sucks. do whateverr u can to make this game better.

the fellowship has failed |
| BigMitchBaker from Canada, ontario says (29/Jul/2003): |
JRR tolkien would be ashamed if he saw his beautiful, vast, and awesome story go to waste in some bull$#< remove me > at ! game that people thought would be cool, they got the characters looking like little pussies, there vision of a real hobbits home was wrecked in this game, but there story followed quite good in the original novel of jrr tolkiens the fellowship of the ring, which gives me a taste of the quest of frodo baggins, and they did an awesome job when you put on the one ring, thats as close as you can get to having the real feeling of this hobbits adventure,
and there vision of tolkiens vast world looks like michael jacksons wonderland, all i can say is they did an excellent on the two towers

Great Graphics, but stotyline and gameplay are dissapointing. |
| Phil from Bangor, Maine, U.S says (24/Jul/2003): |
Although the game is fun and has great graphics, I have to say that this version of the game was quite dissapointing when it comes to gameplay and following the actual story. As a huge L.O.T.R fan I thought that the game needed more in depth detail throughout the story and more precise quotes from the book. Gameplay was not bad but could have used more animation and artificial intelligence support. The Graphics I believe were fantasic and the best part of the game, they were increadibly detailed and just the right touch of lighting, Great job!!!! Over all I give this game a six because it is fun to play never the less.

good, good, and did i mention good? |
| Je suis tres bien from Singapore says (30/Apr/2003): |
Perfect for those kind of 3-D games, with a nice story throughout, though really irritating in the start as there are a lot of useless quests. Adequate amount of fighting and puzzles, though it can actually get quite easy...the only problem is that they talkk too much and too long, and its not worth skipping the text cuz its sometimes interesting and funny (i liked the tom bombadil song though the graphics are a little bit weird and out of place (unlike some games I could name)...the game is generally interesting and fun (though sometimes monotonous and boring)

Tolkein would be ashamed... |
| Isilidur, son of the King from Southampton, Hampshire, England says (18/Apr/2003): |
Sorry to anyone who likes this game, but this is a dissapointment. The characters are poorly animated with half-imagined impersinations. The movement is cheap and the game must have been rushed. Here is a list of the aspects of the game:
Gameplay:
The gameplay is rubbish, just swinging a blade which would miss a fish in a dry barrel at enemies which let you kill them. The controls are pathetic and movement is limited to that of an action man doll. The missions are bogus and half the time impossible usually fetching crud for someone or doing something stupid. It's all just stupid riddles and puzzles, no action or anything, the battle at Balin's Tomb is like a ballet or something and Amon Hen is like a lovely old tea party. It is completely pathetic.
Story:
It starts off relatively accurate with a few modifications here and there, it was good to see Tom Bombadil though I was angry when he wanted lillies (Get them yourself). The barrow-downs was nice but after Rivendell things start going out. Soon Sauron's collapsing Carad-Haras (It's Saruman you ponts!), the watcher has claws, Moria looks like a plush little cosy cottage, Dori is in Moria, Amon Hen is a beach, and then they alter the ending!!! That made me almost tear my hair out!
Graphics:
Ok, I guess. But the movement sucks out, they don't fall over or anything and when they talk they repeat the same old gestures again and again. It's all totaly thick.
Replayability:
Once you've played the game once you're to discusted to play it again.
Over all:
This game is absolute RUBBISH!!!!!!

My only game |
| Jeff from La Patrie, Canada says (7/Apr/2003): |
Just got the game, and this one only. Graphics are great and the game is hard ! Two things I appreciate. Being a big Tolkien fan for years I never thought I would get the chance to play the story. One advice: Do not get bored from the slow start in town, where you have a couple of "non-official" quests to do. It's so worth it after the first hour of playing !
|
It's hard,fun, and somtimes annoying but it's good! |
| Michael McLachlan from New Milford,CT says (6/Apr/2003): |
One ring to rule the all one ring to find them because I'm Sauron I'm only joking .Hey Get a load of the fellowship of the ring it's hard and awesome. I could Play it all day could u! Yo listen this is a song "Frodo is a hobbit and I am too. Aragorn just rocks the house.Legolas is a bowman. But I am just a little hobbit."
|
This has to be one of the best games I have ever played!! |
| Elizabeth Elliott from London, England says (27/Dec/2002): |
Having got both the lord of the rings games for christmas this one has to be the BEST! Not only will it hold your attention for ages but it also very true to the book. At times it is quite difficult( especially the part with the ringwraiths! ) so you won't be getting through it in a couple of hours. The graphics are amazing and so are the characters.I love this game!

One adventure game to rule them all... |
| Louis Panero from Southampton, England says (26/Dec/2002): |
Lord Of The Rings has to be one of my favourite games. I love the interaction with the enviromnent and all the weapons. I also like the way it sticks to the plot of the story rather than being based on the movie. And though this is sometimes a problem (the barrow-wrights.) it is very entertaining and I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of Tolkein or loves a good action/adventure.
|
its all that and more |
| who?? from Columbus, GA says (16/Dec/2002): |
its fun and entertaining but the only problem is...i have to go to school so i cant play it all the time. its good and is hard. especially time consuming and basically fits the requirements for a great RPG

~~*~~ThE bEsT gAmE eVeR!!!~~*~~ |
| LoTrFrEaK!!1 from Chandler, Arizona, USA says (17/Nov/2002): |
This game is THE BEST!! you have to try it, its not only challenging, but it'll keep you busy for a while. The graphics depend on weather its day or night, but either way, its still great, the sound fx are so so lifelike! the fun factor is unbearable, but the only thing is, at the beginning when you have the ring, and your escaping the nasguls (ringwraiths) you have to get very very used to it, it takes quite awhile to get used to it, but you will, dont give up! YOU HAVE TO GET THIS GAME!!! the other thing is it really gets you to want to read the book, because it doesnt go by the movie, it goes by the book. dont worry, i havent read the book (yet) and i get it, so dont worry, i will leave you with this, get this game, its the best ever!!!
