A pseudo-Halo |
| Jay from New York, USA says (2/Jul/2003): |
We've been hearing about this game nearly a year. This game is a complete let down. All who compare it to Halo are deceived. Here is why this game is contemptuous:
- lacks mystery!
- repetitiveness
- yes the graphics were cool, but it matter little if the plot is weak
- everyone shares the same supplies
These attributes are why I commended the game to three stars:
- 2nd party can enter game immediately during game play
- "leadership" mode
- sniper rifle

Good To Rent |
| Jere from Corrigan, Texas says (2/Jul/2003): |
A great game to rent. Playing the game for the first time leads you to believe that nothing compares to this title. But after playing awhile it becomes repetitive as the level objectives are mainly the same. Brute Force has nothing on Halo, but it is a great game to rent.....just a bad game to buy.

"Brute force is good but i dont think anything will beat halo except maybe halo 2" |
| Stui from San Jose, CA says (1/Jul/2003): |
Im not a huge fan of third person shooters but i got it and it is a great game. it is fast, lots of weapons. great graphics. Halo was just a great plot and a little smoother with the guns. Brute Force is definitely in the top three games ive played.
|
A LET DOWN!!!!!!! |
| Dale Smith from England says (1/Jul/2003): |
I thought that Brute Force looked good on the adverts, so i deecided to buy it. To my surprise it was a third-person shooter with the same level every second mission it gets tiresome having the same level and the same enemies. Some people say thisis better than the almighty HALO, HA i think not! The game could have been better if there had been more levels available and if it had been a first-person shooter and more enemies. I think this was a quick attempt at a good game but with poor results.

a halo wannabe the brute force story |
| A gamer says (30/Jun/2003): |
if a drunk guy with big guns ,a crocdile man and muntant babies are what you think makes a game call brute force a halo killer but the reptitive chartactor and level design along with the 2 gun limit and and the exact same control as halo it is just a poor copy now go eat some freedom fries God bless america
|
This is way better than Halo |
| Chris from New York, USA says (28/Jun/2003): |
Squad-based controls in Brute Force allow an extra option of gameplay called "leadership" which Halo didn't even touch into as you could do your own thing and still beat the game. Your teammates make a large difference in this game (you'll understand when you get to brutal) and without them you would probably die. The graphics are much smoother and there isnt a lot of empty landscaping such as in halo with its jagged corners and rough terrain layers. Granted Halo is an amazing game, but you can't even being to touch it to Brute Force.

A good hold-over until Counterstrike and Halo 2 |
| Gavin from New Jersey, USA says (26/Jun/2003): |
The game is fun, fast-paced, and exciting. The learning curve isn't too steep (although a more reliable radar system would have stopped many pointless deaths) and the graphics are, of course, gorgeous. I never ran into slowdown at any point, even with all 4 of my squad members duking it out in a swamp with over a dozen enemy ferals. The control system is specatacular and completely intuitive (being almost a direct copy of Halo's controls), and of course tactical nuts or your basic 'run-in-and-shoot' player can both have a great deal of fun.
Now for the parts I didn't like too much. Multiplayer is very bare-bones, with just Deathmatch and a fun Squad Deathmatch mode. The game itself was too light on story and filled the gaps with more weapons, more enemies and shinier graphics. For any game to be a true contender for the Halo throne, it needs the same amount of depth that myself and fellow Bungie fans have come to expect from their games. However, the game stands on its own two feet quite well enough. Though the comparisons are bound to come (and in fact, already have) Brute Force is no Halo. It wasn't supposed to be. However, since the games are so similar, the comparisons ARE made. And with that in mind, while Brute Force is a great game and one that I enjoy very much, the folks over at Bungie have nothing to worry about.

Halo crossed with conflict desert storm |
| Eddy Smith from Leicester, UK says (25/Jun/2003): |
Brute force is the perfect mix between Halo and conflict desert storm, think all the action of halo with all the tactics of CDS. Its backed up by a brilliant control system that is virtually identical to halo's. It does suffer from a curse that no game should have, some unskipable cut scenes. This becomes really annoying when replaying to get medals etc. I espected more from the multiplayer, all you have is ur simple deathmatch and an interesting squad deathmatch where u all get a squad of 4 people. It could have done with some old fashioned CTF or a variation of it. This would work well with ur squads and bring something new to the classic system. I hope with the downloadable content they might add something later on. Single player is what u'd expect if u've played squad based games before. Various missions on different planets, the plot a bit week. Characters special moves work well witch help inforce each characters strenghts, for e.g Tex(heavy weapons)brandishes both his guns at once, this can be devastatingly effective with 2 miniguns

A CLASS GAME BUY IT NOW |
| phil boardman from malvern,england says (24/Jun/2003): |
THIS GAME ROCKS non stop action from start to finish whith lush graphics and cool characters and with an exelent plot and great multiplayer espesialy with link up mode. There is 1 flaw though you cant press up to walls or do many stealth moves even though the snipping and hawks stealth camo and power blade are top notch you can't sneak up and strangle or nock out anyone with a punch or with the but of your gun.oh yeah and the multiplayer deathmatch characters have crap powers. But the levels are classics from stealthy assasination to all out warfare some are very long and hard and some are kept short and sweat.
But dispite a few minor (and i mean realy minor)flaws this is a great game that is kind of like a 3rd person halo so go and buy it!

This game is da bomb! I like it as much as HALO |
| Pratik from Lilburn, GA, USA says (24/Jun/2003): |
The characters are awesome. The specials add a new twist. These things put together make this game more interesting than HALO. The graphics live up to the Xbox's full graphical potential. And the bosses get pretty hard. Imagine this game on BRUTAL. This game has more options than HALO too, because you have more secondary items and weapons. Also, you get to command a whole squad. You can do upto 4 player co-op plus you can do system link. Also, you have two types of deathmatches, squad, and single deathmatch. THIS GAME IS JUST DA BOMB!
|
This game is by far the best game I have seen for x-box!!! |
| Hunter from Lilburn,GA, USA says (24/Jun/2003): |
This game is awesome! The graphics are incredibly realistic! Campaign mode can have more than 1 player unlike some of your first-person shooter games. Deathmatch lets you use D.N.A. that you picked up in Campaign mode. In Squad Deathmatch you get a team of 4 players. You can unlock other teams than Brute Force when you get 4 types of certain D.N.A. like Shrike Raiders and Feral Hunting Pack. My favorite characters are Firehound, Flint, Brutus, and Hawk.
|
This game is simply DA BEST! |
| Pratik from Lilburn, GA, USA says (24/Jun/2003): |
Whoever said Halo lovers are afraid to admit that Brute Force is beter than Halo is simply by any means absolutely right! Sure Halo was a great game in its era, but Brute Force is the best shooter game EVER!!! This game has grahics that live up to the Xbox's full potential. The sound effects are great. You can sneak up on people from behind and cut them in half with Hawk. This game has even stealth action. The gameplay simply is the best! You can play on one system upto 4 player co-op, and you can do system link. Also, you have deathmatch adn squad deathmatch. Unlike Halo you can control a whole squad and on this game you find DNA and you can unlock other players on deathmatch. Once you get all 4 players on one team you can unlock squads on squad deathmatch. This game has 18 excellent levels. And they keep gettig harder and harder. The fun factor on this game is 6 out of 5! This game is original and very addictive. Brute force doesn't copy and game and in my opinion they should make a sequel. This game is worth every penny. One of my favorite thigs about it is how you can control whole squads and give commands. THIS GAME IS SIMPLY DA BOMB AND CANNOT BE BEATEN! i LIKE HALO, BUT I LOVE brute fORCE
|
THis game is DA BOMB! BETR THAN HALO!!! |
| Pratik from Lilburn, GA, USA says (24/Jun/2003): |
This game is simply the best shooter game there is! Sure, Halo was a great game of its time, but Brute Force is just simply so much better! The grahics are excellent! It makes the Xbox live up to its true potential in graphical effects. Also, the sound effects are great, the slower you go the less sound you make which makes it easier to kill opponents. Also, you can sneak up on people with Hawk. The gameplay is awesome! I'd give it a ten out of ten on gameplay, and fun factor. What i really like about Brute Force is you control a whole squad unlike Halo in whcih you have to choose one person. You can do upto 4 player co-op on one system with Brute Force. And you get to give commands and switch around with a whole squad. You can pick up DNA from people you kill and that lets you use them in deathmatch. When you pick up the DNA of 4 characters of a whole group you can even get whole squads on squad deathmatch. The multiplayer is a lot better on Brute Force than Halo. This game is worth every penny of the $50 you pay to buy it. Halo missed out on a lot of stuff that could've made it better. Brute Force is DA bomb! I recommend it to anyone with an Xbox. this game kicks HAlo in the REar end!

HALO KILLER |
| CyberJedi from USA says (24/Jun/2003): |
I would have to say that Brute Force is most certainly far better than halo in EVERY aspect. Brute Force has FAR superior GRAPHICS, anyone with EYES can and SHOULD see this. The gameplay is also FAR more extensive. In halo you fight the SAME enemy throughout the entire game and they sound like freakin little kids!!!!! You only have 2 types of grenades in halo and about 6 guns or so. Halo is a good system link game because its an FPS but Brute Force has ALOT more game play appeal simply because there are MORE enemies, MORE guns, MORE worlds to play in and you can be MORE than just ONE charater throughout the entire game. Even the mapping is ALOT bigger on Brute Force than halo. halo is a good game but lets live in the now and all come to see Brute Force for what it is to MOST Xbox gamers, a halo killer....
P.S. Anyone who says the game is easy has played it on STANDARD. Id like to see someone beat it on BRUTAL and come here to say its easy. Anyone who has played the game on BRUTAL would know that person is LYING.
|
Im new to this XBOX system an this game is pretty cool but Halo and Metroid Prime dominate it 75% to me |
| Brandon from south hadley says (23/Jun/2003): |
If it was 1ST person or if you could have a choice to have it 1ST person then i probley could steal 1ST place in my mined at least so if they could do that or do it in the next game like brute force 2 or something then yes I would get it in a flash. one other thing Hawks cloke is to cheap you can beat a level just using her.
|
not quite halo but good enough |
| bob twilleger from dublin, ireland says (21/Jun/2003): |
i bought brute force two days ago because i was told it would be the 3rd person shooters halo but it does not come close to matching halo.although the guns are more plentiful and it has 4 person co op mode it cannot match up to halos outstanding graphics excellent gameplay and superb storyline. one plus is that it may be saved between checkpoints instead of levels but these sort of tiny features cannot salvage an over hyped halo wannabe.it has alot of promise for third person shooters but with many others like socom this game does not stand out as much as the developers may have wished it to.in my opinion this game does break some new ground but with most of its best features like squad deathmatch and four player career requiring four players many gamers will be disspointed as computer ai does not come(150) close to a real life player . saying that if yu can get a four player game going you will not be dissapointed as the choice of charatcers is overwhelming as there are over 10 to choose from in the deatmatch and four completely different characters in career which is one major feature which beats its rival halo.overall id say this game is a step in the right direction yet just doesnt break enough ground to satisfy people who have played halo.
|
I like it better than Halo |
| Pacos Tracos from Anchorage, Alaska says (21/Jun/2003): |
Ive played many xbox games including halo in which i have. the other day i played brute force. Brute force i like a little bit better but i think it somehow ties with halo. Brute force in my opinion has everything u would want in a game, aliens, dinosaurs, wizards, mustants, different worlds with your own team of specialists. Ive had it for one day and already have beat it... On standard anyways...
|
the only game that beats this is the almighty Halo |
| Vaughn Kellerman from Cincinnati,OH,USA says (20/Jun/2003): |
I only started to play Brute Force about one week ago but it is one of the sickest games I have ever played and the only game that beats it out is the almighty Halo. I could play this game forever. It has the coolest characters such as Brutus, which is the coolest in the game. Then they got Tex which kicks butt with his huge guns and his berserk mode. Plus this game can be 4 player cooperative and is only on the Xbox so I can rub it in my friends faces that have GC and PS2. I think the graphics are one of the best I have ever seen on the Xbox or even Ps2. The sound fx are very good, the guns sound real, the enviroments are awesome and the people sound great. I think the fun factor deserves a 10 out of 10 because you can do so many things and there are so many levels. I still have not beat the game. The gameplay is great it never gets boring. One bad thing about Brute Force is the fact that you die so easily, like on Halo you have a shield but on Brute Force you have to be more careful and if you play the game on brutal medkits are hard to come by. This is what I think about one of the best games ever.
|
Simply Awesome |
| Sean from Davenport Iowa, Usa says (20/Jun/2003): |
simply one of the best games ive ever played. One thing i didnt like was escorting the spy. It Was to hard and confusing, not to mention the spy is stupid for running out into the open are and letting everyone fire at him. But it is still Awesome. You cant really compare Halo to It Because Halo is the best game ever made. Brute force is with out a doubt one to get.
|
this game is sick |
| Derek from Pennsylvania says (19/Jun/2003): |
I give this game a 10 outta 10 this game blows any game outta the air besides Halo. The characters are awesome especially Brutus man hes a killa o yea n Flint shes goood at snipin. Hawk is a bombshell who can go invisable n slice ppl in half. and Tex has sum big butt guns that blow away any enemy.
