Stop Comparing Halo to Brute Force-Diff game play, diff makers. |
| Miles says (5/Jun/2003): |
I own Brute Force and have been playing it almost non-stop since I've gotten it. This game is a good, fun challenging game, even on Standard-Shadoon gave me a run for my money. The unlockable enemies that you can get through Unique DNA canisters was ingenious, not only giving you a character to play with that has certain abilites from the main core group of 4 people, but as well as being able to unlock certain squads really brought it out for me. The campaigns my brother and I played were varied and on a number of beautifully done worlds. Stop comparing it to Halo- Not only was it not made to challenge Halo, the people AT Halo sent the lead tester from their company to check out Brute Force's controls. They're not contenders- Don't treat them as if they were. Anyone who is contemplating buying this game who has not already, do so. It is well worth your money.

Anyone who thinks that this compares to halo is less than sad |
| HIGHLANDER from Mesa, Arizona, USA says (5/Jun/2003): |
Halo is the god of all games. It is a different game than brute force. I like brute force but find it very repetitive. The graphics, smoothness of operation, and overall replayability are a joke compared to Halo. Brute force is a fun game...Halo is a legend. Enough said.

There is no comparing brute force to Halo. |
| SJMOON from Fort Bragg, NC , USA says (4/Jun/2003): |
I bought Brute Force a few days ago and let me tell you there is no comparing Halo with Brute Force. Yes they are both shooters but both diffrent in their own right. Halo is a one player shooter with great graphics, and great all around weaponry and an endless story line. But on the Brute Force side you have a great shooter with good weapons and a four player cooperative mode or a single player with the use of all the attributes of the team. Having the use of four team members adds to the excitement and overall enjoyment of a multiple player game. The biggest indifference I have with Brute Force is that at times the control is clunky and your view point is garbled a bit by your own translucent body near rocks or rounding corners, which makes it harder to target upcoming opponents.

Sorry Halo! |
| A gamer from Bryan,TX ,USA says (4/Jun/2003): |
I was sure Brute force would be a good gaming experience, but i was sure it couldnt beat Haloas the best game ever. Man I was wrong! It has toppled all squad based games emerging as the best game in history! The graphics are amazing, nearly everthing is bummped-mapped, and if you add that to the amazing voice acting included, you fell like you are actually in an alien world fighting for your life! The game play experience is well worth the wait everyone endured. Youre squad's special abilitys are fun to pull off and using the ingenus A.I. towork together as a team is an amazing experience. It is a sure fire way to keep you occupied for hours. The system link capabilities, squad death matches, and xbox live capabilities only enrich the fun factor. Lets face it. I don't think anyone thohght this game was going to be amazing. one man one woman one alligator and a cyborg sniper trying to defend earth against mind readers and a bunch of $#< remove me > at !roaches is about as weird as you can get but it turns out to be a very interesting and twisty plot. It may have beat Halo but Brute Force has it's own set of problems. The cooperative play is amazingly frantic and insane! Half the time you are trying to find youre squad rather than fighting with them. Co-op with an inexpeienced player is a death wish, since you will spend more time leaving them in the dust rather than helping them. they really drag you down in campain. Plus the difficulty level of the game can be ridiculas at times, since the enemy A.I. is as smart as youre team's. But if all this can be over looked this is probably going to be the best game an xbox to date, at least until Halo2 arrives. It is well worth the $50 dollar price tag.

Brute Force Has many Aspects HALO sorely missed |
| DivinerSage from Ft. Worth TX. USA says (3/Jun/2003): |
First off you have 4 instead of 1 character to use. Each with their own unique atributes and weapons capabilities. The game contains excellent weapons variations. Sniper Rifle, Lazers, ChainGuns, Energy Weapons, MultipleGrenade Types. The special abilities each character has just makes me hate HALO for being so "Story" involved and not "gameplayability" involved. Also the ability to have a squad of 3 other soldiers following your orders and you can switch between and control each of them!!! Brute Force has filled my HALO-II release craving and them some.......... hmmm now all I'm saying is "HALO.... WHO??? Never heard of it."

Best 3rd Person Shooter Yet! |
| Steve from North Port ,FL,USA says (3/Jun/2003): |
I don't think any of us should be comparing apples with oranges here. Halo's outstanding single player and co-op modes make it THE Best FPS EVER. But, in it's own right, in my opinion, Brute Force it the best 3rd PS I've played yet. Brute Force was not designed to be a Halo competitor, and is unfairly being rated as one by some gamers. I think that the 4 player mission mode is a fantastic idea that more game makers should take a look at. Also, squad deathmatch was a great idea. Now people who aren't able to participate in those 16 player system link matches can still get the gaming experience of having 16 guys running around a playing field with just 4 people. The AI of your squadmates is suprisingly good and having multiple clans to choose from, each with their own abilities makes it fun. Bottom line is, both games have great graphics, weapons, and level design. Both make great action games and both are given buyers. And while your at EB Games, you might as well pick up a copy of Enter the Matrix too. Another GREAT 3rd PS that has the best movie/game collaboration I have seen yet, Awesome.

good quality game for xbox |
| James from Long Island NY USA says (3/Jun/2003): |
Brute Force is a very good game. One thing that I noticed right off the bat is the amount of time put into it paid off. The sound effects are terrific. If you have 5.1 surround you feel like your right there in the middle of it all. The graphics for the most part were good but I wasn't blown away. I hate to beat this into the ground but I am yet to see another game graphically be as good as Halo. I was hoping this game would be on that level but it wasn't it had too much of a pc game flavor. But I will say it is as good as I have seen since. As for the game play I give a 9. It is very fun to control all 4 unique characters, but is nothing ground breaking. Tom Clancy's Rainbow 6 was doing that about 6 years ago. But the cool thing was, Brute force makes it a lot easier to contol all 4 characters which gives you more time for tactical manuevering. I was a little dissapointed with the weapons as well, aside from the sniper rifles, and a few others. most the weapons are weak. overall good quality game to add to the very small but reputable arsenal of top notch xbox games

Brute Force & Halo R 2 Very Different Games(Both R Excellent) |
| Lokey Howell #1 from Farrell (PA) USA says (2/Jun/2003): |
U Must play brute force with 3 of ur friends or family, man u can play brute force for hours at a time if ur a true game lover. U also can download missions fro xbox live. Halo is a single or 2 playa mission game and it also had tanks and military trucks. It's also great being able 2 switch between playaz at a time. It's a very fun game for ages 12 & up. Lifespan was excellent as well as getting ur money's worth. Sound is very good.Graphics is a 9.5. Originality was great also. Next BRUTE FORCE they need to have a special with all of the characters put together. All in all Brute Force & Halo r a tie because both games have wonderfull things 2 offer.

Tight ass game |
| Lp from arlington,TX,USA says (2/Jun/2003): |
yo this game is preety dope and $#< remove me > at ! i like the fact that its up to 4 player at the same time and all 4 charters have diffrent abilities and its not the kinda 1 man hogin game if you use all 4 charters in the campaign you have to use all 4 of the and dont get me ron this game is clean but halo still sits on top of it.

Perfect 10 |
| A gamer from San Pedro, California says (1/Jun/2003): |
The wait was defenetly worth it. This game is absolutely goergeous, the detail in the environments and characters is beyond comprehension. The sound too is top notch. But, is it fun? I have been playing this game for the last 13 hours straight and I can bearly manage to stay away from it for a few minutes at a time (damn cortesy calls). If you owen an XBOX this is a must buy if you like third person shooters, or action games. RE: This is not a first person shooter so buyers beware!

9 out of 10 |
| Gamer Review from Massachusetts says (1/Jun/2003): |
When I rate games, I try not to compare. My first impression of Brute force was average. It felt as if I was playing Dead To Rights or Max Payne all over again. The multiplayer part of brute force could have more game modes, not just deathmatch and squad deathmatch. Hopefully microsoft will include more game modes with the download content that is available with brute force, such as capture the flag, or king of the hill. I campaign mode is very addictive. Especialy if you system link the campaign, single screen for each player is a definite to make Brute Force's campaign much more fun. Overall, it is a great game with lots of missions, weapons, and deathmatch additional characters, I recomend buying it.

not Halo but not worse |
| charlie from Houston tx, USA says (1/Jun/2003): |
This is a good game, just because people say its not better than halo doesnt mean its not a good game. they ar 2 different games. Halo is a 1st person shooter this is a not. I personally think if thias was a 1st person it is better than halo, new xbox gammers should GET HALO(2) AND BRUTE FORCE
|
great game |
| A gamer says (1/Jun/2003): |
fun, well-rounded, good plot, tex is a bit overpowered and other characters underpowered, if it was over xbox live i believe it would be very popular, in addition i think it's funny people are giving it low rankings because it isn't as good as halo, grow a brain morons

Halo Still Wins |
| Necron X from Ames, Iowa. USA says (31/May/2003): |
Brute Force is cool and shows promise, but Halo is still KING! The Multiplayer in Brute Force dosn't compair to Halo. The first thought I had when I played the Multiplayer mode was what a let down. I do like the change in pace of the campain mode. But only until Halo 2 finaly comes out. Stupid Microsoft, screwing up another thing.
|
THIS IS NOT BETTER THAN HALO! |
| A gamer from Springfield USA says (31/May/2003): |
I dont know how some of you think this game is better than Halo...it's not even close. I like the first person view, weapons, graphics, story, and game play in Halo better than this game. Don't get me wrong, this is a really cool game.I like the fact that you don't just have one character, I like the multiplayer "squad deathmatch" it's really fun. But It is simply not better than Halo :)
|
The force is weak in this title!! |
| Chrisdawg from fayetteville, N.C., USA says (31/May/2003): |
First, the quality of review for this game on this site is horrible! Second, THIS GAME IS NOT HALO!!! Do not assume this game is at all the same. Do not compare the two games at all! The single player, and even the two player co-op game is acceptable--the four player co-op and deathmatch however are not. The characters in third person perspective take up too much of the already limited viewing area. Brute force is not a bad game, though I feel the game would work better on-line than it does off. The main problem is that all four players must be willing to play a particular role and use an individuals characteristics to its potential. The weapons each person can carry is limited--specific weapons for specific characters. The special abilities for each character are nice, but proves unbalanced in deathmatch. Aside from these problems the game is well designed and plays quite nice. I would recommend renting it first but if you feel you have what it takes, then by all means chech it out.
