Where is the IMAGINATION?12999

Carl Sipp from Pittsburgh, PA says (16/Dec/2002):
I don't buy many games and at first I thought MKDA was a game that I could be very proud of. Having different fighting styles, having weapons, and having beauiful fighting grounds made this game great for about a week. Then I started having questions. Isn't this called Deadly Alliance? Didn't two guys team up to kill Kahn and Liu? Why can't I pick a team. It seems like everyone has a companion in the game. Sub Zero - Freeze. Sonya - Jax, Nitra and Reptile...etc, etc. I think that would be cool to switch off in the middle of a fight and pick my stronger fighter to finish off the job or have my one fighter mess up two fighters in a row. Talked about adding replay value. You could have both team and acade mode. Another question I had was what happened to the fatalities? Fatalities ARE Mortal Kombat. The majority of fatalites SUCK! I don't even do half of them. I just stick'm with my sword. For instance Kung Lao, OMFG!Boooo! He throws his hat and stomps on his leg. YUCK. Boring. When i finally came to the realization that there was only one per character, i almost cried. IF there wasn't enough disk room for more fatalies( I thinking at least 3 per character) then please take out the extra boards, konquest mode and I would even go as far as saying take out one of the fighting stances if that could mean I could get more GORE. What happened to the Board Fatalities? There are all these new boards....can't we have just a couple of board specific fatalities? For instance, impaled on a icicle, taken away by lost souls, uppercutted to doom or fall into a lake of acid or lava. Why do I have a weapon if I can't do a fatality with it? I thought it would be so cool if i could press small combo at the end and have my character go into this sped-up, long drawn out combo and finish them of with a brutal sword blow. Sort of like Killer Instinct but with a MK twist. I mean, I thought of this stuff in about 10 minutes. What is the point of getting a flawless victory. There is no point system, there is no time trials. I thought it would be cool if you got a 25% increase in the amount of koins offered for each flawless in a match. These small things would add so much to replay value. I also thought the koffin idea was cool...but all i had to do is look it up on the internet or go after the expensive stuff. Why couldn't it have be randomized? I just went after the pricy stuff and got all the costumes and charaters. Could u imagine how funny it would be to pay 13 rubies for Jax or 4000 platinium for a picture of Sub Zero. Finally, the Konquest mode. GREAT IDEA...but then again alot of flaws. It boring after three charaters. Couldn't there have different types of konquest instead of having to do each move for each person. Boo.. Yuck...Boring. Hears an idea, no konquest mode and more fatalities!!! I'm on a roll...but with all that said, I do like the game. I just wished they would have used more IMAGINATION. The plot was great....I just wish the game could have been. Oh well maybe next time.

Pretty nice game13871

RaVeN_201 from Rock Forest, Qc, Canada says (28/Dec/2002):
I've been a huge MK fan since i were kid (well since i've first play MK1... gosh it as been a long time since:P)And i've bought MKDA whitout any hesitation cause as everyone who reviewed that game can tell, you can't get wrong with Mortal Kombat. But like every other MK, there's some cool things and some that just completely sux. I'll start by the cool things. Graphics are amazing and caracters looks great. Some Fatality are huge like Cyrax, Hsu Hao and Sub zero's fatalitys... The whole krypt concept is great too, and what about the intro? It's obvious that they didn't lost their time on it. The fighting system is also pretty cool, the fact that we can choose between 2different fighting style and the weapon that rulez and the fact that we can impal the oponents whit some of the weapon rulez too. And i'm probably the only one who thinks that but i were pretty happy to see Liu Kang die. I gotta admit that he's a classic caracter but i've always think that he sucked. And there's a lot of other things that are cool, like the blood that stay on the ground and that drip on characters... There's also the ending. The brought it back old MK style with only pictures and narated texts. That's the only cool points that comes to my mind right now but there's a lot more... Now what about those things that sux? There's 3 characters who "sux". First... Reptile! WHAT THE HELL HAVE THEY DONE TO HIM???? He used to be a ninja like scorpion and sub zero, not a freak lizard like he is in MKDA! Second... Hsu Hao... They only reason why i think he sux that's because of is hat... I'm probably the only one who think that way once again, but i think he looks more like a gay than a MK fighter. And the last one who's not that good is Drahmin. The guy is cool but the flies around him are too much! Without the flies and maybe without his mask he would be amazing. and i better not talk about Mokap cause he's a waste of their time... And i'm not the only one who've been deceived that there's only 1 fatality per characters and that some of em really sux like quan chi's... He used to have a REALLY COOL one in MK4, when he ripped off his opponent legs and hit him with it:P but in MKDA? REALLY decieving... He stretch his opponents necks and that's all... WHAT'S THE F##K WITH THAT? Another deceiving thins is that there's no stage fatality, classic fatality are missing, and some game mode like team kombat and endurence wich were pretty cool aren't there... Though some points sux i still give it a ten on ten cause if you compare it to all other recent fighting games, this one seems to be have made by god himself, and because that's my favorite game too :P

The best graphic, sound and speed I have ever seen in fighting history13871

LaRon from Elyria, OH,USA says (7/Dec/2002):
Good points: The good points are so high it makes up for the bad points,I myself am a video game creater.(9 years and running) So I know its not easy to make a game. trust me on that! Ed Boon and the wonderful team he had this round was all it took to blow people back in a chair and make millions! Let alone the best fighting game ever! anyway the game play is fast, fatalities are on the money, switching styles of fighting during play is something unseen to mk! that was a great step up! They finally brought back {Test Your Might} which i was waiting for a long time! The krypt is a great creation which makes the game not boring! and last but not least the expanded vairity of DVD in the game was HOT!!!

Bad Points: Liu Kang this was a great loss in the mk series, fatality's were limited to one per person like in the original mk {One way you can take it is they were trying to start over from scratch!}some classic moves were replaced, took away and some even tamperd with too much Ex.

Cyrax: his Net Grab was turned in to a spinning sharp blade (not that it is not tight but that net damn near made Cyrax)

Sonya B. where the hell is her pink spinning rings, and her mk3 downward bicyle kick.

jonny cages sahdow kick was tamperd with too muck if you watch closly you can amost see threw his body when he makes the attack and last but least theres a coulple glitches not nothin big.

Overall: I tried to judge this game hard as i could and if you have been reading you can see that. There are still way too many good things that stick out stronger over the weaker things.Ask your self what game am i gonna buy the game thats all around screwd or the game that lost a player and picked up hella more and mishapped on a few moves, and picked up incredible graphics with DVD content!!! this game is a perfect 10!!

MKDA : the real opinion27127

josh from Alamogordo, NM , USA says (4/Jul/2003):
Ok first of all I have played every Mortal Kombat out there and I must say this "Deadly Alliance" is nothing more then, dare I say, a pushover nothing more than a rip off of Dead or Alive and even Tekken both of which I hate with passion! Reason 1; These fighting styles, yes they are inovative but what ever happened to the good ol' button combos that you could use to devastate your opponent in a matter of seconds, I could wipe out any one just by using run and knocking the crap out them with a 10 hit combo, now you got to worry about if in the right style or even the direction your pushing to much to worry about!
2; I want an uppercut, I want a roundhouse kick, I WANT MORE FATALITIES!!!!! What is this world coming to when they think they can change everything about a game and then call it Deadly!
Its nothing more than a gimick to get those other guys stuck on Tekken and prepubecent nerds starring at the breasts on Dead or Alive 3 to play there game, they think since the fighting is the same! Now dont get me wrong I like playing Deadly Alliance it IS fun but its just not Mortal Kombat anymore! 3; The worthless fighters like Drahmin, he has no combos! And the blind guy who is nothing more than a rip off of Ermac, why didn't they just put him in instead? Not to mention the repeating fighting techniques and the hours you have to spend in the Krypt to fid whats really worth finding, it is just too time consuming! I must say the things I do like are the Konquest mode and the return of Test Your Might plus the addition of Test Your Sight!
But the point I am making is I'm as hardcore of an MK fan as the next guy and I'm REALLY REALLY dissapointed! But it is Mortal Kombat and I'm going to play it anyway! Thanx for your time. Peace.

Its good but...13101

Michael from Mauritius (small island in the indian ocean) says (18/Dec/2002):
I bought the game without hesitation because i'm a die hard fan of the MK series.1st negative point is the death of Liu kang, such a famous character CANNOT die!!! Why did you do this Ed Boon??? Why??? The game would have been too good if there were Liu Kang, Smoke, the Shokans and some more. Mr Boon characters which people liked a lot in previous MK games will still be liked in new Mk games...,we expected to play with them. Mk 4 on the PS was a big disaster ( was it the fault of Eurocom only?).
Deadly alliance lacks the violence of MK trilogy, when you hit your opponent its not the same impact as with trilogy or Mk 3, in Deadly alliance they are a bit slow.
Reptile was a character I liked a lot in previous MKs....so sad he ended like that....he looks like a pokemon worth lizard... Characters like Hsu Hao, Mavado, Nitara....are not very attractive...Drahmin is still reasonable... The Koffins, they should indicate where you have already bought the items, i bought something twice and wasted my kurrency. No pit fatalities,1 fatality per character more good stuff omitted. For MK4 it may be the fault of Eurocom but not this time. The only character i found is better, in animation, costume and all, is, Rayden. Another thing I didn't like is the sound of the hits(punches and kicks), it sounded a lot better in Trilogy. The graphics are good, yet i didn't liked some Arenas... like the acid spit by the fat statue... No FMV endings.....thats bad..toooo bad... That Molloch is not worth a Goro or Motaro. I didn't say that I didn't like that game, I still like it because its a Mortal Kombat...Hope that MK 6 will be more Trilogy like....

Good, but lack of creativity and loss of some MK style14804

Togroovy from Seattle, Washington says (5/Jan/2003):
I bought this game just to give it a shot and quickly found out that it was in fact the better of the MK games. It has fairly decent graphics, but could definetly be better off as an xbox exclusive. The sound kinda sucked in general, all male characters had the same voice sounds and all the women in the game had the same voice sounds. The weapons were ok, but lacked again the creativity (they had 3 models and just re skinned them to look like new weapons). Fatalities, as its been said stunk, there was only one and they are all somewhat slow and repetetive to watch. What I hated most was the computers A.I., or lackthereof. It seemed for the harder levels like Moloch and the final characters of Konquest that they could do nothing more than to make the A.I. cheat to beat you. I spent many hours cussing at the TV because when you attack, you are usually sidestepped (at an unusually fast speed might i add) and then comboed to your death. Moloch just had nothing going for him so they made him ultra strong and ultra cheap. Dead or alive at least had human like traits in the AI even on the hardest level. Being that this was my biggest complaint I have one last thing on the topic. If you are playing MKDA on hard levels the AI is semi passive if you just stand there, but the second you block or attack, it explodes into unstoppable combos, not fun at all. Otherwise I had very little problem with it and recomend it highly to those that want a fun fighting game (if you have someone to play it with) and to those who are die hard MK fans.

Almost Flawless15680

Michael Carrano from New Haven says (18/Jan/2003):
Deadly Alliance is by far the best in the Mortal Kombat series. With brutal fight sequences as fast and furious as any high-speed martial arts flick, the game only gets better with superb character rendering, ambient and enthralling environments, and a dramatic soundtrack of exotic eastern melodies.

The game, unfortunately, carries the tradition of Mortal Kombat games since MK2 of over-dramatic, ridiculous fatalities. Where something as subtle and brutal as a palm strike to the nose followed by the crushed character dropping to his knees and then face-first into the earth would have sufficed, some fatalities continue the tradition of being childish and blatant (ripping out a person's entire skeleton, for example.)

The game however more than makes up for this deficit in that the fighting of the game is crisp, fluid, fast-passed and mind-numbingly addictive. Believe me- you wont be getting any of your homework done this semester.

A characteristic adding to the game's frustration factor is the computer's virtual ability to block nearly any and evey attack that no real-life player could've averted. The frustration that comes with being able to whoop all your friends asses and then lose to a computer opponent who blocks $#< remove me > at !ing everything is enough to make you Finish your TV.

If you can get by an unrealistically difficult computer and a handful of ridiculous fatalities mixed, you're in for a wild ride in what will probably be the most intense videogame experience that has hit you.

A game of Extremes17166

Gus from Cedar Rapids, Iowa, USA says (8/Feb/2003):
While playing this game there are numerous advantages to observe and numerous failures to cringe at. Why should you choose Mortal Kombat over other fighting games? I find the fighting is more intricut due to the fact that you have several different fighting styles to choose from ( 2 styles and one weapon style ) for each character. The fighting looks real and it provides hours of endless gameplay. In addition the locations of the fights are very well done and fun to fight in. About half of the character models are well done, but a few are just awfull. The blood is totally unrealistic. In this game you are immediately addicted to its complexity, but in a way its complexity is its downfall. Once all the complex elements of this game have been discovered than it has become a lame game. A lame game meaing the fighting becomes entirely boring and the same thing over and over again because a few key elements are missing in this game, the very elements that made mortal kombat previously stand out against other fighting games. These are the lack of special moves ( some characters only have 2 ) and fatalities. The special moves hardly play a role at all and the fatalities are the worst in the history of all MK games. After the first week of this game being amazing it becomes rather boring to play and looses its luster. This is a good borrower game, but don't buy it. DK was average but I look to the next game in the MK series to be dominating.

I'LL BEAT ANYBODY!!!!!!!!!!17430

Jessie "Kung Lao" Morata from Chicago, IL (The CHI) USA says (14/Feb/2003):
I've been playing MK since 1991 - dumping mad cash at the arcades. I've had the absolute pleasure of seeing this great fighting game evolve to it's absolute greatest version to date. The graphics are INTENSE!!!! Beautiful, vivid color, 5.1 dolby digital sound - MY GOD! The sound of waves crashing in the Nethership stage is KRAZY! Even the fighting music ROCKS! The views of the different fighting arenas are absolutely beatiful (I love the Wu Shi Academy and Dragonfly) AND I was able to purchase 6 more arenas from the Kypt! The moves are fast, fluid, and hyper-realistic - the "Branch Combos" are unbelievable (Kung Lao can hit a 59% damage COMBO!)! Just when I thought I had a favorite fighter I became good at another then another and another after that! I explored the Konquest mode, made it through all the characters and unlocked 2 "hidden" characters Blaze & Mokap! - It was like having a brand new game! It can get frustrating when playing the HARD and DIFFICULT settings or when you rack up 7 wins in a row, the AI becomes impossible to beat. I can't say enough about this game. Every aspect about MKDA is amazing. Overall Midway did a SUPERB job w/ MKDA. Gaming life is better because we have MKDA ... The only thing missing is that you cannot go online. c'mon midway! I was looking forward to taking my show on the road & whipping butts online. I'll beat anybody even the makers at midway. Bring it! fight!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Back to the basics.18411

Gary from Aberdeen, SD, USA says (28/Feb/2003):
First of all, I've gotta hand it to midway. They did a great job on most of the graphics, but there were definately some details that were overlooked. I won't get into expaining each one in particular being that there are quite a few. But they did give the game a more realistic edge which was complimented well by giving each character three different fighting styles. I like that they added the konquest mode, but it's still lacking quite a bit. I also liked that they brought back the test your might, and added the test your sight. What really gets though is the fact that there's only one fatality per character, and the secret characters don't even have one. I don't know what the midway team was thinking, that's what the games all about! I like to see my opponents to get sliced, diced, torn to shreds, ripped apart limb by limb, and just completely dismantled. Who wants to see the same lame ass fatality over and over again. They could've at least kept the pit fatalities, or created something to add a little flavor. Most of the fatalities they do have aren't even very impressive to begin with. Overall it's still one of the best fighting games ever, but I would really like to see the fatalities, brutalities, anamalities, and the ever so popular Liu Kang brought back.

Back from MK1 is MKDA!22108

Gamewiz from Palatine,USA says (24/Apr/2003):
The game is pretty cool but not enough and I mean NOT ENOUGH FATALITYS! I've always been a fan of MK and I have MK Triolgy and that has a load of fatalitys but one for each person, I was at least thinking one for each stlye. Especially for the weapon. Wouldn't you like to see Sub-Zero Slice some guys head off with is kori blade. Anyway the graphics are good but you would expect they would make the blood look more real. The characters should be a little more easy to get than having to get all those koins. I liked the konquest mode and I liked that they put test your might and I do like test your sight. The new characters are cool and frost is tight I mean tight and I like Bo Rai Cho's Drunken Fist he lookes real funny. And the combos are hard I mean hard and Sub-Zeros combos are a easy to do. But at least they have the konquest mode to teach them to you. I am looking for a way to get the characters a little bit easier. I am going to play more with my friends and play test your sight and tes your might to get lots of koins and bet and lose on one my profiles and win on the other. And do a trick I learned. Anyway the game a good game and for now thats all she wrote!

It's nice, but . . .22231

Hillis 3000 from Nashville, TN, USA says (26/Apr/2003):
This game is tight, but I can see that a lot of these reviews explain my same qualms with this game. First of all, these fatalities sucked. Kung Lao's was terrible. And the fact that in this elaborate fight scheme that they all only have ONE fatality is ridiculous. Second, the computer can be unreal. I can't even get past the first character on MAX yet. And even if I could pull off these hard ass combos, THE COMPUTER WOULD STILL BLOCK THEM ALL! Third, special moves are only one notch above worthless, and their damage is minimal at best. Fourth, the endings are somewhat lame compared to the elaborate intro and storylines, but that usually is always the case in these types of games. The best thing about MK used to be the special moves, blood, and fatalities, which all seem lost in this game. All that being said, I still play this quite a bit. The combos are great when you can actually pull them off. And on MEDIUM and HARD, the game provides just enough a challenge so that you don't get bored with how easy it is, but doesn't beat you until you get frustrated and quit. Overall this game is a must have for DIE HARD MK FANS ONLY! Others might need to rent or borrow...

Addictive...But could be better.12478

A gamer from Columbus, USA says (7/Dec/2002):
Since I got this game a week ago, I haven't put it down. It is by far my favorite fighting game yet. It is truly addictive with 1000's of moves and 5 different difficulty levels. However, there are some simple things that could and should have been done to make it better. First, there should be more than one fatality per character. As I recall, most of the other MK's had two. They lose their luster pretty quickly. Also, I was hoping for more characters. Don't get me wrong, you would have to invest some dangerously large amounts of time to master each of the characters that are provided, but the more the better. And concerning the characters that are available, I was very impressed with some of them, and dissapointed in a few as well. Namely Reptile and Sub Zero. They are both limited in special moves and sword play, and frankly, Reptile looks stupid. I am also disappointed that you can't play the VS mode by yourself. You should be able to pick your opponent if you want to. Even though I do have some criticisms, I have found this game to be very fun and I do recommend it. I just hope that the next version provides a few more characters.

The game is very cool but............12735

Jaron Jones from Christiansburg, Va, USA says (11/Dec/2002):
Yeah i like the game but.......There are some problems.Like Reptile. He is a freaking lizard(literally). They should have left him alone. The girl's boobs jiggle to much. Yes there is a limit to how much they can jiggle and they jiggle to much to the point they look so fake. The Konquest was a great add on to the game. But they have too many combos. And i mean too many. The graphics are really good. They could have put more characters in it. The Krypt feature is ok. But they have 627(Lets just say over 600)koffins. And you don't know where Raiden, Kitana, Reptile, Frost, Dramhin, Cyrax,Nitra(don't know her name all that well) is. And their koffins are like 6,000 ruby koins. Or 6,000 Saphire whatever. It take a long time to get every charcter. How Quan Chi and Shang Tsung killed Lui Kang and Shao Kahun to form a Deadly Alliance is so freaking cool. If you watch the little thing that comes on befroe ou play the game, it will tell you what is going on. The replay value of the game is high but you will get tired of it if there is no one is there to play with you. Overall this game is all right but i gets old. To some it gets old quicker to others.

Could have done better15253

Rob from Savage, MN, USA says (11/Jan/2003):
Overall, the game is pretty tight. Most of the fatalities were gay and repetitive and in the next one they have to put animalities, it's a MUST! Moloch is a little cheap b!tch that keeps on doing the same 2 or 3 moves. I like the Krypt it was a good idea. The test your sight is alright and I think the test your might should be tweaked a little bit. I agree with the other gamers about bosses pulling unreal moves, and moves that should have connected but somehow they were dodged. There should be more characters and a limited amount of time in each round that weapons can be used or something like that. It's cheap when the CPU or humans just use weapons unlimitedly. This goes for all games, but games should use the Xbox to it's full potential instead of getting held up by PS2. The blood could have been more realistic instead of shooting out in circles. You should be able to chose different difficulties in the arcade mode. I don't like that some characters lack combos (Drahmin). The graphics are pretty good but have room for improvement. I do like the mini games and I wish they had more. I also miss the stage fatalities.

One of the best MK games, other than MKII, can't wait for the next MK25039

A gamer from Los Angeles says (9/Jun/2003):
MKDA is one of the best MK games to date. Although my favorite is still MK I and MK II, this one is pretty darn close! The 3D environment is awsome and so are the fighting styles! A lot of the new characters are cool as well, but some just seem to be a bit slower than the others. But they make up for it with great moves! The only thing that really disappointed me were the fatalities. First of all, some of them were kind of lame, and some of them were really cool. In my opinion, MK II had the best fatalities in all their characters. In MKDA each character is only allowed one fatality. Coming from a MK fan, that's really disappointing!!! Come on guys, where's the blood and gore for the fatalities? I could of had some better ideas for the fatalities. The weakest one I thought was for Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. And they're supposed to be the main characters in this game!!! What's up with that? The graphics were really good, the sound is good, and gameplay is awsome, and the orginallity is great. A really, really, really good fighting game to sum it up. Only the fataliteis disappointed me. This game is a must to buy!

Good for a rent...18620

Big Pimpin' from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada says (3/Mar/2003):
I have been an avid player of the mortal kombat series since it's birth. it seemed to be one of the first fighting games to break that blood and gore barrier, and that's what seperated it from the others. Now by the 5th game you'd think that they could combine all the elements of the previous games which made it such a success and make it the best yet, they didnt. My interest was at a piniacle when they had babalities, friendships, stage fatalities, and the elusive animalities. These were the MANY things that kept the game appealing, you could go through almost ever player and never do the same finishing move, that's when the game was at it's best. As for MK5, it lacks more than just that. It's very visualing apealing. Unlike what most of you cats are saying how it's "boaring"(as in pig??), it's not, nor is it boring. But what it does lack in fighting it more than makes-up for in graphics/sound. One word, sureal. I'm hopeing for a sixth game, and with all the feedback, they will fix the problem and produce the best fighting game EVER!

So close to perfect.12422

Low from USA says (6/Dec/2002):
MK DA is by far the best Mortal Kombat to date. Midway should be applauded because this is just what they needed after nothing but huge disappointments since MK2. The graphics, gameplay, sound, etc. blows every past game out of the water. The 'Krypt' and 'Konquest mode' have already brought me hours of good entertainment. Getting to change and choose fighting styles mid-fight is a welcomed addition in my book. Unlike past editions, MK DAs story line is interesting, actually makes sense, and is easy to follow when going through konquest mode. MK no longer feels like just a simple fight and win, then get bored ten minutes later game. This one has some replay value. But not everything is perfect. Personally, I feel a little ripped-off in the fatality dept. Only 1 fatality for each character and that's it, and some of them are just down right stupid. What happened to 2 or 3 seperate fatalies for each character, and what about arena-specific fatalies? After all, fatalities is what seperated MK from the pack & made it what it is today.

The best fighting game ever !!14084

Trinity from Orlando fl says (30/Dec/2002):
Compared to all the other new fighting games that came out this past year,,this one takes the cake.Sure its not perfect,,,the sound could be better and there could been better fatalities.
But come on,,overall its great !!! Midway did a good job.
The graphics are sweet,,there's mad combo's to pull off with the new fighting system and the weapons in this game are mad fun.
I love the size of the arena's as well,,nice and big.
There's plenty of room to run ,battle and bleed.
Sure it dosnt have some of the fighters from past games,,but come on,,they had to make room for some new faces.
Im sure they all grow on us in time,,
just like the other fighters have in the past.

My biggest problem is why it wasnt used with X-box live.
I would love to play people all around the world and find different people to battle who are on the same skill level as I am.Which for the record,,is not very high. smiles

And maybe im perverted ,,but the girls breast are just right,,
what are you guys talking about ?? (heheaahaha)

Very Dissapointing19380

Correy from Calgary, Canada says (16/Mar/2003):
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance is unlike any other fighting game on any other platform. This is because teh gameplay is horrible. The komobos and the buttons dont flow and if you think the graphix in this game are good, you have not played DOA3 yet. MK5 was a huge dissapointment to me. The game play is slow compared to the other previous Mortal Kombats and its horrible how they took out the run function. Who wants to walk across the screen to the character. There is only one fataliety now from when in MK3 there were 5 different end moves per character. MK5 is still fun, on the other hand, despite all its other draw backs, but there are many other additions that the game should have had, such as more fatalities, faster gameplay, moves that flow, better control for each character, and improved graphix. If i had played all the mortal kombats and could have picked to choose just one, i would have chosen on the kombats on the genesis system.
