| the one from new york city says (11/Jun/2003): |
this by far is the best fighting game aside from streetfighter.
the graphics are amazing for a fighting game, the storyline is great, the sound is amazing, and the legitamint fighting styles, the character motions are amazing, and being able to use your weapon by pressing one button insteadback, back,up,b,a,up,is also a good plus.the variaty of things to do in the gam(konquest, arcade, krypt, extras)are amazing.the only reason i did not give this game a 10 is becuse wen playing on the higher difficultyys the ai becomes imposible and cheases.and the other reason i did not give this game a 10 is becuseTHEY KILLED LUI KANG!!! and he died such an unhonerable death !!!!but over all i think this game is worth every cent.

One of the best MK games, other than MKII, can't wait for the next MK |
| A gamer from Los Angeles says (9/Jun/2003): |
MKDA is one of the best MK games to date. Although my favorite is still MK I and MK II, this one is pretty darn close! The 3D environment is awsome and so are the fighting styles! A lot of the new characters are cool as well, but some just seem to be a bit slower than the others. But they make up for it with great moves! The only thing that really disappointed me were the fatalities. First of all, some of them were kind of lame, and some of them were really cool. In my opinion, MK II had the best fatalities in all their characters. In MKDA each character is only allowed one fatality. Coming from a MK fan, that's really disappointing!!! Come on guys, where's the blood and gore for the fatalities? I could of had some better ideas for the fatalities. The weakest one I thought was for Shang Tsung and Quan Chi. And they're supposed to be the main characters in this game!!! What's up with that? The graphics were really good, the sound is good, and gameplay is awsome, and the orginallity is great. A really, really, really good fighting game to sum it up. Only the fataliteis disappointed me. This game is a must to buy!

A really great game |
| Da Shiznit from Morgantown, USA says (6/May/2003): |
MK: DA is THE best fighting game to date!!!!
I've played them all from Tekken 2 & 3, Marvel v.Capcom, Vitua Fighter, even some foreign imports and the originators like Street Fighter and the original Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat: DA kicks them all in the a**. It is the hardest fighting game ever.
The makers have taken a game concept that has seen repitition and have put a new mark on how fighting games are played. The new fighting style changes are so sweet. The gameplay will always keep it difficult no matter WHO you are playing.
I sat around for hours learning the moves and my friend challenged me to a game. The first time he played, he was whipping my a**. Knowing all the moves didn't help me out of the coffee grinder and his little gut punches still kept me on my toes. You have to appreciate a game that skillful.

Not the best but still kick some arse. |
| Phil from Usa, Michigan says (1/May/2003): |
I thought it was a great game other then the killn of lu i mean come on, but oh well i soon will get over it.. any way the graphics and blood shed are sweet!! the chars could use more then just one Fatality. and i dont like the way they changed johnny cages upper cut.But all and all its a great game.. hope to seen a new one in couple years

It's nice, but . . . |
| Hillis 3000 from Nashville, TN, USA says (26/Apr/2003): |
This game is tight, but I can see that a lot of these reviews explain my same qualms with this game. First of all, these fatalities sucked. Kung Lao's was terrible. And the fact that in this elaborate fight scheme that they all only have ONE fatality is ridiculous. Second, the computer can be unreal. I can't even get past the first character on MAX yet. And even if I could pull off these hard ass combos, THE COMPUTER WOULD STILL BLOCK THEM ALL! Third, special moves are only one notch above worthless, and their damage is minimal at best. Fourth, the endings are somewhat lame compared to the elaborate intro and storylines, but that usually is always the case in these types of games. The best thing about MK used to be the special moves, blood, and fatalities, which all seem lost in this game. All that being said, I still play this quite a bit. The combos are great when you can actually pull them off. And on MEDIUM and HARD, the game provides just enough a challenge so that you don't get bored with how easy it is, but doesn't beat you until you get frustrated and quit. Overall this game is a must have for DIE HARD MK FANS ONLY! Others might need to rent or borrow...

Back from MK1 is MKDA! |
| Gamewiz from Palatine,USA says (24/Apr/2003): |
The game is pretty cool but not enough and I mean NOT ENOUGH FATALITYS! I've always been a fan of MK and I have MK Triolgy and that has a load of fatalitys but one for each person, I was at least thinking one for each stlye. Especially for the weapon. Wouldn't you like to see Sub-Zero Slice some guys head off with is kori blade. Anyway the graphics are good but you would expect they would make the blood look more real. The characters should be a little more easy to get than having to get all those koins. I liked the konquest mode and I liked that they put test your might and I do like test your sight. The new characters are cool and frost is tight I mean tight and I like Bo Rai Cho's Drunken Fist he lookes real funny. And the combos are hard I mean hard and Sub-Zeros combos are a easy to do. But at least they have the konquest mode to teach them to you. I am looking for a way to get the characters a little bit easier. I am going to play more with my friends and play test your sight and tes your might to get lots of koins and bet and lose on one my profiles and win on the other. And do a trick I learned. Anyway the game a good game and for now thats all she wrote!

The best game |
| A gamer from Odessa,tx,usa says (23/Apr/2003): |
The game is so cool except for just one fatality, but the fatalities are better than they where in other mk. My favorite fatality (so far) is Scorpions Spear. The best character and I mean best is Sub Zero. So the game is cool and thats all i have to say.
|
Not brutal enough |
| Efe Dincer from North Weald,Essex,England says (22/Apr/2003): |
The real game play graphics were well cool with the 3 fighting styles.I like the storyline. I like reptiles deformed shape.I have waited for ages not to have Liu Kang as the greatest warrior in the game. But some of the bloody fatalities suck (specially Quanchis)I was expecting more then one $#< remove me > at !ing fatality.I was even expecting pit fatalities and brutalities. But the game was still better than the last ones.
|
It was decent |
| Ashley C from Antlers Ok says (15/Apr/2003): |
ok first, just one fatalitie? That sucks big time. Graphics were fine and the moves (some of them) were cool. Althought they don't flow very well together. Characters were nice, some shouldn't be there and some should still be there...hmm...you know who i am talking about. And what the hell is up with reptile? Baby Godzilla? Just make MK6 better, learn from your mistakes. Please.

MKDA Review |
| Jonny Cage Rules!! from Gloucester,England says (12/Apr/2003): |
I believe that overall MKDA was a great game for the consoles out in the preset time ecause of the fantastic 3d graphics (just put in for mk) and the great gameplay in which you can choose up to three stances or two stances and a weapon depending on the character. A great shame is that Lui Kang is dead, he is the best charcter of all time with most loving mk films due to the huge role he played in both of the films. I hope that the mk films and games carry on because I know many people who want them to. Another shame is the the fact that the fatalities are only 1 per person wat!!! O ya an where is smoke d main man! I say Bringback Lui Kang, its not the same without him and his sound effects. Kung lao a the descendent of Lui (or vice versa) is nuthin compared to Lui!!!

Mortal Kombat Strikes AGAIN! |
| Ross from Stanton Iowa USA says (6/Apr/2003): |
This game is cool like all the other mortal kombat games. Deadly Alliance has really cool graphics. When I saw the trailer for it and i saw Scorpions "Snake" come out of his game i was like sweet ass! but on the game its a rope with a spear at the end! REALLY DISAPOINTING! Only one Fatality really sucked. The gore of the game was really weird especially on the Fatalities blood would just poor down them. The three fighting styles is like the coolest idea ever. Yeah well if there was a choice of this or DOA3 i recommend this.
|
I loved this game!!!!!!!! |
| Nathan Clark from 9003 Palliday Rd says (31/Mar/2003): |
This game ROCKED!!! It is the mother of all{and I mean all} Mks. My favorite fatality is Kung Lao's Hat Throw. My favorite charecter is Frost. I drew an exellent picture of Frost as a boy. The graphics and sound are also cool. Anyway this is the best Mortal Kombat game yet. I hope they another MK game with hecka better graphics, sound, arenas, chareters, everything. This is the best game in the world.
|
big improvement |
| A gamer says (27/Mar/2003): |
it was much better then the other 4, by far the graphics r really cool but i cant stand how they got rid of lu kang, that just drives me nuts, there r a few cool fatalitys in it but not as good as the other 1's, ,neways really good game, best 1 i played so far.
|
Coulda been better, not bad though |
| NoahWhite from Cincy,USA says (23/Mar/2003): |
When seeing the commercials i thought this game was gonna be the mother of all fighting games BUT when i got it i was dissapointed to see a few things. First of all the 1st thing i saw(the opening scence) they juss walked out and killed Lu kang. HOW CAN YOU KILL LU KANG?! hes the legend of all mortal kombat. another flaw, conquest mode is almost impossible due to some of the characters (such as raiden or kung lao) style branch combos. I've had it for a month and a half and I still cant master those. The fatalities.......... could have been ALOT better. Each person only has ONE and some are horrible. What can compare to someone turning into a dragon and biting u in half? Or dropping arcade machine on top of someone? I say bring back animalities and Stage fatalities. But hey this game WAS very good, I liked how you get 3 styles, conquest mode was a good idea, and the krypt was pure genious. A very good game overall, and worth your money to buy.
|
Good. But not Great. |
| A gamer from Detroit, Michigan USA says (19/Mar/2003): |
I was very dissapointed with the story lines. Who is this Dragon King and why can't you fight him. The coins are easy to get if you know the tricks and the konqest mode was dumb. Where are the pit fatalities? Where are the multiple fatalities? The graphics are cool, but this game is not a keeper. This game was good for two monts, but it is easily on its way to be exchanged for credit toward something new.
|
new technology, same old mistakes |
| hobs from Australia says (17/Mar/2003): |
1. What the hell were they thinking by limiting the characters to 1 fatality each!!!
2. What the hell were they thinking when they got rid of the fantastic, humurous and fun level fatalities.
AND
WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINIKING WHEN LIMITING EACH PLAYER TO 1 FATALITY...............oh, said that already but it still stands.
Now, dont get me wrong, the graphics are new and very nice, I like the way everything works 3- Dimensionally, the 3 different fighting styles is cool, but the biggest copout of the whole game is the fatalities......and the 'gayness' of the blood.
I wouldn't even mind if they brought back the old monotonous animalities as long as I dont have to watch the same $#< remove me > at !ing fatality over and over again!!!!
They have obviously got too carried away with the things that mortal Kombat 'doesn't' stand for and neglected the 'good ol days'
Prognosis............NEGATIVE!!!!

Mk5 |
| SpiKe from USA says (16/Mar/2003): |
in holland Mk is really populair, when i first saw that shao kahn was dead i was suprised and when i saw Lui kang going Dead i was even MORE suprised i dont know if youve noticed but Lui kang is the best fighter in al the mk serie's killing him was not very smart if Mk6 comes out on Ps2 than bring him back or something with magic or what ever i dont care , but the game on itself is GREAT i like scorpion with his ''new'' suit he rocks BUT i hate it that noob saibot, rain, that red cyrax, sindel, are gone AND I HATE THAT STUPID REPTILE THING IN MK5 he looks like freakin small godzilla man
|
Very Dissapointing |
| Correy from Calgary, Canada says (16/Mar/2003): |
Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance is unlike any other fighting game on any other platform. This is because teh gameplay is horrible. The komobos and the buttons dont flow and if you think the graphix in this game are good, you have not played DOA3 yet. MK5 was a huge dissapointment to me. The game play is slow compared to the other previous Mortal Kombats and its horrible how they took out the run function. Who wants to walk across the screen to the character. There is only one fataliety now from when in MK3 there were 5 different end moves per character. MK5 is still fun, on the other hand, despite all its other draw backs, but there are many other additions that the game should have had, such as more fatalities, faster gameplay, moves that flow, better control for each character, and improved graphix. If i had played all the mortal kombats and could have picked to choose just one, i would have chosen on the kombats on the genesis system.

Cool |
| Mk player from california,usa says (15/Mar/2003): |
This game overall is my favorite mk game, but they could,ve added more characters. They shouldn't of done what they did to reptile. I liked the graphics and blood too.The characters should have at least 3 fatalities. They shouldn't of killed liu kang. They should of made this game for online fighting. Well i liked this game i think it was a great game but they could of done a better job

Good for a rent... |
| Big Pimpin' from Fort Saskatchewan, Alberta, Canada says (3/Mar/2003): |
I have been an avid player of the mortal kombat series since it's birth. it seemed to be one of the first fighting games to break that blood and gore barrier, and that's what seperated it from the others. Now by the 5th game you'd think that they could combine all the elements of the previous games which made it such a success and make it the best yet, they didnt. My interest was at a piniacle when they had babalities, friendships, stage fatalities, and the elusive animalities. These were the MANY things that kept the game appealing, you could go through almost ever player and never do the same finishing move, that's when the game was at it's best. As for MK5, it lacks more than just that. It's very visualing apealing. Unlike what most of you cats are saying how it's "boaring"(as in pig??), it's not, nor is it boring. But what it does lack in fighting it more than makes-up for in graphics/sound. One word, sureal. I'm hopeing for a sixth game, and with all the feedback, they will fix the problem and produce the best fighting game EVER!
