they've done it14208

game master from home says (30/Dec/2002):
It's finaly happened the best mortal kombat game that will ever come out. New characters rock sure they're missing some of the old ones but how can you get game play like that and still have every single character there ever was..that's about 30-40 fighters..now I agree with some people saying that their favorite fighter is gone and sure that does suck..for them.but if it really bothers someone that much to have their fighter gone from the game...well to bad cause now you got a new selection to choose from. I am a ninja guy I like sub zero reptile even though they just made a complete mess out of him and scorpion and I'm starting to use frost quite a bit now and it's just a blast.. yes the fact that there is only one fatality per fighter does blow the big one but that just leads you to use other characters to see how they gore up your game just a little bit more..I think the whole coffin surprise thing isn't the best idea but meh if it works.

Coulda been better, not bad though19730

NoahWhite from Cincy,USA says (23/Mar/2003):
When seeing the commercials i thought this game was gonna be the mother of all fighting games BUT when i got it i was dissapointed to see a few things. First of all the 1st thing i saw(the opening scence) they juss walked out and killed Lu kang. HOW CAN YOU KILL LU KANG?! hes the legend of all mortal kombat. another flaw, conquest mode is almost impossible due to some of the characters (such as raiden or kung lao) style branch combos. I've had it for a month and a half and I still cant master those. The fatalities.......... could have been ALOT better. Each person only has ONE and some are horrible. What can compare to someone turning into a dragon and biting u in half? Or dropping arcade machine on top of someone? I say bring back animalities and Stage fatalities. But hey this game WAS very good, I liked how you get 3 styles, conquest mode was a good idea, and the krypt was pure genious. A very good game overall, and worth your money to buy.

Mortal Kombat: Deadly Alliance is DA BOMB!!!37255

Rich Reed from St. Louis, Missouri, USA says (23/Dec/2003):
Is is definitely THE best game of the whole Mortal Kombat series! The graphics and great attention to detail are mind-blowing, the storyline is wonderfully deep and complex and the game overall has that great fantasy/supernatural atmosphere that I've come to love! I think the sotryline, infact, is my favorite part of the game--reading about how all of the charatcers are tied to the "Deadly Alliance" and discovering everyone's reasons for being in the tournament. There's just so much mystery and backstory that playing the game is like reading a nice long adventure novel! Only three small flaws:
(1) (and I'm sure everyone else agrees) that the fighters have only one fatality
(2) Some of my favorite special moves of games past are missing (Sonya's Leg Grab, Scorpion's Teleport Punch, etc.)
(3) Only two hidden characters--wish there were more

But MK:DA is still DA BOMB! Bring on Mortal Kombat 6!!!

new technology, same old mistakes19448

hobs from Australia says (17/Mar/2003):
  1. What the hell were they thinking by limiting the characters to 1 fatality each!!!

2. What the hell were they thinking when they got rid of the fantastic, humurous and fun level fatalities.

AND

WHAT THE HELL WERE THEY THINIKING WHEN LIMITING EACH PLAYER TO 1 FATALITY...............oh, said that already but it still stands.

Now, dont get me wrong, the graphics are new and very nice, I like the way everything works 3- Dimensionally, the 3 different fighting styles is cool, but the biggest copout of the whole game is the fatalities......and the 'gayness' of the blood.

I wouldn't even mind if they brought back the old monotonous animalities as long as I dont have to watch the same $#< remove me > at !ing fatality over and over again!!!!

They have obviously got too carried away with the things that mortal Kombat 'doesn't' stand for and neglected the 'good ol days'

Prognosis............NEGATIVE!!!!

Better Next Time17077

Salomon Gutierrez from San Francisco California USA says (7/Feb/2003):
Well when i saw the comercials of MKDA I thought damn that games gotta be tight. But I guess comercials can fool you. Dont get me wrong its kool and all but it needs some help with certain details. The blood comes out in circles instead of looking realistic, and when you impale some one the blood just comes out uncontrolably it looks fake like if it was the niagra falls, they also could of used stage fatalitys and finishing moves. After a while the same moves get really boring and dull, they also could of made reptile look cooler instead of making him look like he was godzilla. They could have made the combo sistem better by making it faster and not slow like MK3. I did like the realistic fighting styles and martial arts moves used in this game. they also could have added Sektor, Kabal, Noob Saibot, Ermac, Rain, Mileena, and Jade. In conclusion they should make it better. Better luck next time.

A true Mortal Kombat Fan30146

Michael from Colorado, USA says (15/Aug/2003):
Frankly, I think the game is one of the best of them all. I think the graphics, different fighting styles, and the third being a specific weapon is awesome. The Krypt is especially awesome. You can see where the game came from, why they did this. They added some funny stuff in there. It's great. Anyone who is a true Mortal Kombat fan will respect the Krypt. Konquest mode is great. And finally, after many years...Test your might is back with the great addition of test your sight. One thing to complain about though....1 fatality. My friend says there is two, but I have searched the internet everywhere and found only 1 fatality. The other minor flaw is no full motion videos for the ending. So once they get those two minor flaws fixed, it will be the best fighting game ever putting even tekken away. Thank you Midway and the MK team for bringing back my all time favorite game.

The best fighter out now, By Far!!!12588

Dion from New Braunfels, TX says (8/Dec/2002):
I was extremeley awed by the graphics, all the extras (the "Kombat Koin/Krypt" thing keeps me comin back!!), The Adema music video, The game intro, and the game itself!! So many different things to do that kept my interest, plus the ability that it actually teaches you as well!! AWESOME!! JUST AWESOME!!
I only have one complaint; Eliminate the use of the directional pad for fatalities and all the moves!! It woulds be so much more fun, and just as easy to use just the buttons themselves WITHOUT the directional pad for special moves and fatalities!! I have the GameCube version and it is extremely difficult and frustrating to pull off special moves and fatalities with the control pad!! Why they didnt put any functions on the analog, i'll never know, but an awesome game nonetheless!! Just dont blow up the TV or gamesystem if you cant perform a move!!

This is a good game over all13042

B from Wisconsin, USA says (16/Dec/2002):
I just got an X-Box and Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance is one of the first games I bought. The character graphics are great (yes even the "bouncy breasts") and the stage graphics are even better. The game play isn't great but it's good I beat the game on easy half an hour after I got it. I was happy to see the test your might and surprised that they added test your sight. The combos do get kinda tough (Frost) but there not impossible. I was disapointed that there aren't all the "ality's" (Fatality, Brutality, Babeality, Anamilality, ect) I think the koin system is a good idea with the krypt and all, but it doesn't really keep score so I can't enter my name when I dominate at the arcade. Well any way there is alot that they could improve on it but it's a big step up from the last MK I played for N64. I'm surprised they didn't make it X-Box Live compatable.

A really great game22959

Da Shiznit from Morgantown, USA says (6/May/2003):
MK: DA is THE best fighting game to date!!!!
I've played them all from Tekken 2 & 3, Marvel v.Capcom, Vitua Fighter, even some foreign imports and the originators like Street Fighter and the original Mortal Kombat. Mortal Kombat: DA kicks them all in the a**. It is the hardest fighting game ever.
The makers have taken a game concept that has seen repitition and have put a new mark on how fighting games are played. The new fighting style changes are so sweet. The gameplay will always keep it difficult no matter WHO you are playing.
I sat around for hours learning the moves and my friend challenged me to a game. The first time he played, he was whipping my a**. Knowing all the moves didn't help me out of the coffee grinder and his little gut punches still kept me on my toes. You have to appreciate a game that skillful.

I liked it but they didn't have to kill Liu Kang off.Bring him back to life in MK6 please?18092

Dr. Mel from Newberry,South Carolina ,USA says (23/Feb/2003):
They at Midway are on top of there game on this one.I give them a 5 cause I feel it could have been better.Don't get me wrong I'm not hating on MKDA.First thangs first. How are two people that have been killed off so many times come back to life. Then the second thang they killed off one of mostly everyones favorite character,Liu Kang.Thats the boy that put Mortal Kombat on the map.I have been playing Mortal Kombat games since 1993 when it first came out.And it really makes me mad when y'all want to kill off somebody that put y'all on the map man.Y'all need to bring him and my boy back to life Johnny Cage and leave them alive. Then y'all got a movie coming out named MK3. y'all need to keeep up with time. MK3 was in 1995.MK6 bring Liu Kang back. But I really did dig MKDA.Oh,before I go y'all had good graphics except blood in circles. Not cool dude.

Great game15115

Michael from Nashville, TN USA says (9/Jan/2003):
I enjoyed the graphics. As a lot of people had stated before, it would be nice to have some added fatalities. But it's not THAT important. Konquest and the Krypt are great ideas. Some of the combos in konquest are almost impossible to execute. My only wish for this game or future games is to slow the timing down between each button input by .20/sec on combo strings. Retain a buffer for the combo input, but slow down required timing on button input. After playing it for several hours, I found that it would be easy to develop carpal tunnel syndrome trying to execute some of those combos.

I was rather disappointed on reptile's change in appearance. It looked like less time was spent on rendering this character than others. Despite some of my negativity, I thought this game was a first class fighting game and is DEFINITELY worth buying.

On and off game13475

terrance from USA Houston says (25/Dec/2002):
This game is very good in many ways but very bad in others like obviously the fatalities scorpion: (the spear going through ur head) is kinda funny the first 2 times then it makes u forget about how harcore scorpion is (mk trilogy when he summons all the other scorpions) u could have had that. sonya she ok and all hell u gave her bouncy boobs and a thong but shes american and she sounds like bruce lee!!! reptile was the #< remove me > at !t till mk4 and this one YOU MADE HIM LOOK LIKE A SICK CHARMELEON WITH ARMOR!!!
On the good hand most of the characters look better (scorpion)
Kitana, they have kik azz combos and the cgi graphics are sweet
i would love to see motaro kintaro and goro in a game like this.
but one suggestion BRING BACK THE FAMOUS NUT PUNCHER AKA JOHNNY CAGE!!!!! WITHOUT IT THERE IS NO CAGE

Mortal Kombat's back and it's a good, solid game12785

Justin from Texas, USA says (11/Dec/2002):
Being a big fan of the famous MK series, I had to rent this game when it first hit the stores. It's really a very enjoyable game with the same feeling the series has carried along through the years in polished 3D graphics. The graphics are good, if you're used to playing DOA3 they aren't anything really special but still good. I think the best part of this game is the gameplay. The konquest mode is a wonderful addition! Especially if you need some help learning combos but you don't want to just sit there and read em off the list. If theres one thing they needed its MORE CREATIVE FATALITIES!!! They've got XBOX potential but the aren't making the fatalities fun enough to watch. This is a great game though, especially for MK fans like me who have followed the series through the years.

MKDA Review21128

Jonny Cage Rules!! from Gloucester,England says (12/Apr/2003):
I believe that overall MKDA was a great game for the consoles out in the preset time ecause of the fantastic 3d graphics (just put in for mk) and the great gameplay in which you can choose up to three stances or two stances and a weapon depending on the character. A great shame is that Lui Kang is dead, he is the best charcter of all time with most loving mk films due to the huge role he played in both of the films. I hope that the mk films and games carry on because I know many people who want them to. Another shame is the the fact that the fatalities are only 1 per person wat!!! O ya an where is smoke d main man! I say Bringback Lui Kang, its not the same without him and his sound effects. Kung lao a the descendent of Lui (or vice versa) is nuthin compared to Lui!!!

MKDA LOVER36973

James from Houston,Texas says (14/Dec/2003):
Out of all the MK games, this is the best. The graphics are better than all of MK games. The sounds aren't that good,so does the lifespan. But the gameplay is good and there's three fighting styles. The last games of MK were so slow on the attacks. The best thing I think about Mortal Kombat:Deadly Alliance is the Konquest mode. It teaches you how to play and do combos and do special moves. It's kinda fun after you get used to doing ten missions for every person. But the only thing that sucks is the koffins. There is too much koffins and I'd thought it'll take an eternity to buy all them but it didn't(too bad). If you ask me, you should get this game, even though the thing about koffins is not cool, it's still fun to play and kick your friend's a$$ (before they kick yours).

ED BOON DELIVERS...18046

DarksjeiK from Roosendaal, Holland says (22/Feb/2003):
  GAMEPLAY:
The game is excellent! It has the same pizzazz that the second game in the series had, only much more sophisticated, the fighting is intense and fun! The krypt with the 676 coffins to unlock adds to the longevity of the game. It's possible to search the internet for the content of each coffin, but I recommend that you find out for yourself because that way you'll have more fun playing the game...

GRAPHICS:
The textures are simply breathtaking, lighting and special effects are awesome! Don't compare this game to DOA3 because it's style is very different to that game!

LIFESPAN: 23 characters to master, 676 coffins to unlock, this one will last you for ages...

OVERALL: best bucks I've spent in a loooooong time. RESPECT to you mister Boon...

Loved it, and yet............13621

Kelly Noll from United States ~*~American girl*~*~:) says (26/Dec/2002):
This was a good game but, the fatalities sucked, my favorite character, Sonya, I cant believe this is how they picture an american girl. I mean I know this is a game but don't u think they OVER EXAGERATED THE GIRLS A LITTLE BIT! Lei meh was ummm... nevermind. I liked the sticking the swords in ppl thing. Bo Rai Cho is funny, he farts, throws up, is drunk, fat... I wish they didnt make it so that we had to unlock more than half the characters... !! The Konquest is annoying! The graphics kick ass, but the sound effects sounded the same for almost every character. The back rounds could have been better. There should have been sudden death scenes, where the backround kills ya. Im not saying I didnt like this game, I loved it, but it could have been better.

This Game Rules14806

Samir from Erie says (5/Jan/2003):
This game is the best fighting game of 2002. The game itself is awsome, the game keeps you excited because of ~600 Koffins you can unlock. Now some people say it is too much or it cost too much. What would be the use of cheap stuff and couple koffins. It would be too easy and you wouldn't get the same prices. And most of them are great and funny. And then the fact that they don't have old characters, who cares they have new ones and brand knew endings with way more combos. Who cares if it is only one fatality, they are great. The fatalities make up for all the attacks and new character. The probably best new one for me would Kensi. If you have a xbox and you want to buy a new game you should look at this game and it wont dissapoint you.

Could have been better12795

CrackerJack from Tacoma, WA says (12/Dec/2002):
Overall the graphics were awesome. There were a few phony things that came up but it was pretty good for the most part. I would have to agree with everyone where there should have been more fatalities. There should have been one for each stance for each character. I do love the new characters too. Blaze is tight. Also, I think that there should have been a longer game play. I rented it this afternoon and already went through the "Arcade" part a few times. The Konquer thing was a good idea but some of the combos are a little much i.e. Freeze's last combo is a bi%*h. All in all, they have a great base to start a new breed of MK games...I just hope they weren't wishing this to be the big last call....that would suck.
