Another Great Arcade Style Racing Game For Xbox |
Xbox_Xtreme2002 from StationPlay says (12/Oct/2002): |
This game is great, the graphics are very highly detailed with bumpmapping, realtime reflections, and very very smooth shading. the music is the best, the sound effects are pretty good too, with the doppler effect things going, hook it up to a 5.1 dolby system and u can hear which side the cops are coming from and sometimes even how far back they are, the game itself is a lotta fun, with hyper fast cars that you actually feel, in some games the speedometer says 120 but it feels more like 50. however in this game 270 feels like 270. i would definately suggest buying this game if you are a high speed fast action hardcore racing fan.The game also has many cars for you to choose from, whether you want to save up for a more expensive version or just get a car. The gameplay fun, multiplayer can get a little boring because the cars are so different, so naturally the other player will pick the same car, and that kinda kills it right there. The single player it fun, with 2 different campaign modes, a normal campaign, where you race as you normally would or Hot Pursuit Mode, in HP mode your main goal is to not get "busted". There is a free roam mode, single race customizable mode, or a "be the cop" mode. The AI or Artificial Intelligence of the cops and computer players is good, the cops will do anything to stop you, like blowing you up for running head on into you, the computer players will duck out of the way and such if you are too close.

NFS:HP2 not so bad! |
| D_J_Phats from Christchurch, New Zealand says (13/Jul/2003): |
Need For Speed: Hot Pursuit 2 (NFS:HP2) isn't that bad... infact it's pretty damn good. the enviroments look terrific and the cars look and feel great. the physics seem to be on the mark. the cars really seem to handle like you'd expect them too! a shame they didn't put as much time into the engine note of the cars as Sega did for Sega GT 2002 (the cars sound exactly as they should). an improvment could definatly have been a realistic damage model so you get to see every contact on the car and the graphics could be alot crisper (we all know that the xbox can handle it!) all the same, the music is awsome, the cars rock, the tracks look brilliant, and i just love the smoke and dust effects! so a very very fair 8 out of ten!!

stupid |
| lewis from edmonton alberta canada says (24/Aug/2003): |
sure the graphics are good. but the danmage sucks! with 5 min of running in to walls and cops all you'll gent is a few bumps and the fornt&back lid flipped open. the spikes stop you instantly, which is NOT realistic the play back sucks lick CRAP!!! and the rear view mirror isn't clear the big problem well 2 is a crown victora tould catch a maclerin f1! and nfs 4 has better damage! in all i thik it's the worst nfs (including nfs1) and i give it a 4 thumbs DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Best NFS game so far! |
| A gamer from Florida, USA says (4/Jun/2003): |
The NFS series has given us their best game yet, as promised. It has about 41 cars to unlock and 25 tracks to unlock. I liked the game because you can take so many alternate routes. The AI and cops are also very challenging to beat. The soundtrack is pretty good, being a mix with rock and techno. The engine sound I have nothing against. The graphics are state-of-the-art. The Event Trees are a cool new feature, giving you specific tasks to unlock more events, cars, and new tracks. If your like me, it'll take you 6 months to complete, so it's "lifespan" is very good. The fun factor is a 10 / 10. I don't think it's value (price) is so hot, but it's the same price with mostly all new PS2 releases. So they're just going along with the crowd as they say. This game's originality isnt hot, but it's a sequel, so they cant be very different. This game GREATLY exceeded my expectations. I sugest seing screenshots, and if you like what you see, buy it.

A Very Enjoyable Game (on PS2) |
| Super spy from New York USA says (8/Jun/2003): |
This game is bay far fantastic! The game may be a little on the expensive side but it's worth it! TIP:on you're the cop mode, get right up on the tail of a speeder and press the "catch up" button (R3). This will usualy inflict madgor damage on the racers car. They will also be easy to spot after that (smoke will star poring out of thier car!!!)

The best NFS game (For P.C.) |
| A gamer from Redmond, WA says (25/Jun/2003): |
Great Gameplay, Great Internet Play. Dashbord would be nice. How can u say it is the worst NFS game, the others have sucked compeared to this one. This is the first game were i have played the demo, and liked it so much i bought the game. The internet play is really good (except for the cheaters).

Awesome and Phat |
| Mikey and Dylan from York, PA,USA says (17/Aug/2003): |
This game has all the coolest cars and graphics. Even though it does not have any cheats it's not hard to get cars if you know how to race. It has really great sound and selection of cars. Also on Project Gotham Racing the cars are stupid and slow with no control. Need 4 Speed: HP2 the cars have great handling and fast. We would much rather much have Need 4 Speed:HP2 than just about any other racing games. If any body is thinking about buying Project Gotham, save your money. We'd give it a big fat ... 0!!!!

very dissapointed |
| robo from Christchurch , New Zealand says (16/Nov/2003): |
i thought this game lacked alot! I first played this game on the PS2 and thought it was the greatest NFS ever made. a few months later i brought myself an XBOX, and then NFSHP2 went on sale for half price and i brought it thinking with the same name it will be identicial. To my horror it was totally crap. The replays were a sad affair what was the point in even having it in there, i thought i was doing something wrong but no its just a crap replay. The other thing is i liked the fact you could zoom ahead in PS2 to see what is in front of ya. That was a no show in XB version. I also found that the graphips ran really slow at times which didnt seem to happen in PS2. The whole branch set up was stupid and the be the cop mode gets very boring after about 2 minutes, The multiplayer mode in this is very limited aswell. To sum up my thought on this game it was a waste of NZ $50 and i hope NFSU is the same on all platforms otherwise EA can stick it up their ass.

LAME LAME LAME |
| A gamer from red bank N.J. says (12/Jun/2003): |
no replay angles and no dashboard view no good, no fun , not worth the money, lame . watching the replay is half the fun. seeing the different dashboards was the other half of the fun. (for me anyway) That translates to NO fun. this game is lame.
How about some updates???

Could be better |
| harm from holland says (5/Sep/2003): |
Well, nfs hp2 definitely has it's good points, and plenty of 'em. Cars look awesome, drive awesome and sound awesome. I'm not gonna nag about the fact that the performance of a few cars like the aston martin and mustang are a bit out of proportion compared to some other cars, but I have to mention it. There's some thing to nag about though. The accelaration of the cops is way over the top! You pass 'em with 300 kmh, them cops standing still. Then you look back and see that they are set to gain. And I really mean set to gain. They must be going 330 or so, and accelerate to that speed in a few seconds. I mean what the hell?! They're on your tail in no time while you are driving perfectly! I liked the cops better in nfs high stakes, also they don't give up on you after half a minute of pursuit, which they do in hp2. Then there's the helicopter. Thing can't just follow you around, it just has to drop bombs! WTF? How unrealistic is that?! Then there's the tracks. Beautifully made, though there's a shortcut every 5 seconds! Way too much! I don't mind, no I even like the fact that there are a few routes you can take to the finish, but please, don't put in those shortcuts. The thing that annoys me most about the game is probably the fact that you can't go backwards. I just loved to play around on maps in nfs high stakes, trying to lose cops going backwards and then forwards. But in hp2 some annoying traffic sign blocks your sight which is highly annoying. I don't care about winning races, i just want to have fun. all in all, i may have nagged enough, i do think however that the game still rates a 6. the graphics and handling are too good to rate this game too low.

if you have ps2 & xbox, get the ps2 version.... |
| Matt says (21/Oct/2002): |
i rented this game last week for ps2, and then this week for xbox. sure, xbox may have the upper hand when it comes to sleek and clean looking graphics. the game looks great. but is noticeably choppy when compared to its ps2 counterpart. and theres no classic and extreme handling like on ps2!? i just dont understand why they would take the time to make a game LOOK so damn good only to sacrifice game speed.

Needs more than just speed |
| Shakey from Sydney Australia says (3/Nov/2002): |
This racing game is below average, it could and should do so much more than what it is. It would be good to have more customisation of the cars to drive, it would be good to control the music throughout the game, like a car cd player (and personal music control from the xbox hard disk), it would also be great to be able to have better controls over the replays and functionality to save them. The sound effects require more work, there is little difference between car engine sounds, they all sound like a whining motorbike. I personally think this game is a dissapointment and not worth purchasing.

It should have been so much more |
| Ray from Indiana USA says (3/Nov/2002): |
This was one of my most anticipated games for the xbox. I was a long time fan of the series on the PS1. I feel as a xbox owner we were given the shaft by electronic arts. First off there are alot of differences between this and the PS2 game. The colors are much more vibrant on the PS2. The PS2 game received 2 more tacks than the xbox game. There are I beleive 10 more cars on the PS2 game compared to the xbox game. And to me the biggest let down of all is the replay mode. One of the greatest thrills of the need for speed series, is after a high speed chase was the joy of watching a replay of the race in a wonderful cinematic replay. Something you are just not able to do with the xbox version. All we get is a replay of the race from a chase view of the car. There is no need to even watch it because it is exactly what you just watch during the race. The PS2 version though, gives you that wonderful replay mode where it is like watching Smokey and the Bandit. I defenatley would suggest renting it first. I myself have decided not to buy it, just because I beleive that electronic arts deliberately gave xbox owners an inferior product.

Every one is too swishy swashy. |
| Rocket X from Forest, MS, USA says (30/Nov/2002): |
Okay, okay, okay...it's not the greatest game, but at the same time it's not the worse. It's great for renting, that's the best thing I can say about it. I've played waaayyy worst games, like Test Drive: Off Road Wide Open. Everyone is too critical of this game, besides, you get to out run the cops...
|
xbox version is not as cool as the playstation 2 version |
| Lil Skizzle from Arlington, TX, USA says (29/Dec/2002): |
The graphics were not good at all. The cars didn't look like the real thing, it was horrible. I just wish it was more like the one for playstation 2. The playstation 2 one had good graphics and everything. The only bad thing is that you can't crash like you can for xbox.

SHAFTED |
| Tyler from Medicine Hat, Canada says (3/Jan/2003): |
OK, first of all, i played this game on ps2 a night before i bought it.....i figured it was such a sweet game on ps2 it must be EVEN better on xbox, so the next day i went out and bought it, 70 bucks later i brought it home and was immediately disappointed...it didn't have nearly the same amout of special features as the ps2 version, on the ps2 you can hit a button that does a 360 of your car during gameplay...not so on the xbox version...hitting cops and roadblocks are not nearly as fun on xbox as on ps2 because there is no slow motion replay during the game, another thing, REPLAYS.....well maaaaan.....u get the most crappy view ever! i can't believe it! honestly! i want graphics, i wanna see my CAR driving, not just the road, its pathetic...aaaaand for hot pursuit when you're BEING the cop, its a little more fun to be able to pull the guy over rather than run into him and have his car automatically break down...i have been a need for speed fan since the 1st one came out on computer, i bought an xbox for christmas so i could eventually buy this game, and now that i have i wish i would have rented it first rather than go by my instinct of what the others were like. Xbox owners like myself should feel cheated by this game, h*ll its probably better on gaemcube, i wouldn't doubt it...

This is the best racing game I have ever played!!!! |
| Taylor Mozingo from Stafford Virginia says (20/Jan/2003): |
If you are one of those hardcore racing fanatics, then this is the game for you. Not only are the graphics amazing but the detail and the sounds are too. The cars are amazingly accurate and since I own a Lamborghini Murcie`logo I know what one looks like and the model on the game is extremely realistic. Though the engines are pretty much the same for every car, this is still a great game.

This Game doesn't hold a candle to Project Gotham Racing |
| R. Anderson from Maryland, USA says (17/Feb/2003): |
Not even a smoldering match nevertheless a candle. I absolutely loved NFS III: Hot Pursuit on the PSX and I still play it. Everyone knows what the Xbox is capable of after playing the gorgeous Project Gotham Racing that was released at the launch of the Xbox. Electronic Arts can't be serious with this poor entry to the racing genre. This game lacks in excitement the way chickens lack in taking flight. I am truly disappointed. Since the launch of Microsoft's Xbox, I haven't seen a racer that has even come remotely close to competing with Project Gotham. Of all the third party licensees out there, I thought EA would make more of an effort at achieving this goal. To know that the PS2 version is the better of the two, really shows that EA's programmers did not utilize the full potential of the Xbox. I mean who are we kidding here? The Xbox is by far the superior gaming system when it comes to it's comparison to the PS2. It almost seems as if Sony paid off EA to make a mediocre version of NFS:"HP2" for the Xbox so that it appears that they make the better system. Either that or EA is just playing favorites. I heard that the two versions were not developed by the same programmers. Now what reason could there have been for that? Could it be for the same reason that the PS2 wields Rockstar's "Grand Theft Auto: Vice City" when "Grand Theft Auto 3" never made it to the Xbox and clearly could have been a better game on it? I guess us Xbox owners just have to accept the fact that there is somebody somewhere out there who just does not want the Xbox to be seen for what it truly is.. The Best Gaming System on the market today.

I hated it! |
| Derek10 from Medford,Massachusetts says (21/Feb/2003): |
This game is the worst. I never should of bought it. There are no cheats for this game. I think Project Gotham Racing is way better than this. Project Gotham Racing is the best car game for xbox. The only problem with Project Racing is that there are no Mclarens or Lamborghinis. Another problem with this game is that the graphics stink. If I reported this to Bill Gates the chairman of Microsoft he would probably mention the same stuff as i did. For someone who looking forward to buy this game I wouldn't because it is a waste of money. The only good car to me in this game is the Mustang Cobra. (Don't Buy it)
