come now, good, but not GT3 |
| The Ronnerman says (12/Dec/2002): |
Actually, "Justin", they DO force you to buy it. I got the Xbox bundle and have this game by default. It's NOT bad at all, very decent game, but anyone who says it's better than GT3 must have not ever played it, or hates it cause they don't like PS2. I challenge anyone to watch GT3 replays and THEN say this game is more realistic. It IS good, but GT3 is better for alot of reasons that are not arguable. For the box, this is the best racing sim, overall, Gran Turismo takes the mantle. Again, I'm not biased, I own all 3 consoles (game cube, ps2, xbox) and think xbox is a fantastic system, but please give credit where credit's due. GT3 is better.
Anyone tired of GT3 or doesn't have a PS2, pick up Sega GT 2002, it's worth the bean-age.

Ok, but kinda painstakingly boring |
| Mooose from Charleston, SC, USA says (14/Dec/2002): |
This game is an all-around good game, but it lacks a certain umph that most racing games have. The handling of the beginning cars could use alot of adjustments. When going around corners you are forced to almost stop your car completely. The race tracks are practically the same throughout the entire game. Your choices for cars are very limited in their top speeds. After getting the Ford car in the beginning of the game, the cars there after increase in top speed by about 1 mph. The graphics are fare, but I have seen better. The graphics of the cars are phenomenal where as the course's graphics don't own up to the rest of the graphics. I gane this game a rating of 6 out of ten because of the bad playability. It is a fun game until a while after you've played it.

10 because it was free |
| james from somewhere, wa usa says (15/Dec/2002): |
this is a good game. for a free game, it kicks my ass all over the place. gran turismo is a sony game, so if yah wanna say that turismo is better than play your freakin sony you morons. AND. if you dont like load time play morrowind or timesplitters, then youll have a reason to bitch. It is too easy, but nobody mentioned being able to play against other people with the cars from your garage. thats the best part of the game. if u have no friends, then i can see why u wouldnt like this game. the best thing you could, if you have no friends is play with yourself; literally.

Errrrrrrrrrrrrrr.................your American Dudes |
| Leon from UK, London says (20/Dec/2002): |
This game is awesome..........the fact you can select a Nissan Skyline GTR from the start of the game is a sure sign of some fun to be had. I got this game free with my X-Box here in the UK the price between the PS2 was £20 which in my opinion is a bargain. The game itself is a amazing improvement on the Dreamcast version as the handling has been tightened and all together has made this game very playable...........Sony! put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Fucking sweet |
| elliot from Maidstone Kent says (21/Dec/2002): |
gt 2002 kicks ass it really does i love the way you can by any old worthless $hit like posters setes and other old junk and just chuck it at the back of your garage. The game is more simpler than gt3 which really beats gt3 the gameplay is smoother and it pretty much kicks arse and for any one whos stuck if you by the toyota levin at the beggining youve pretty much cracked it trust me!

This Game Owns.... |
| -=RLH=- Luda from Sydney says (22/Dec/2002): |
this game is probably the best game ive played ... the only reason i stoped playing it is coz i couldnt be bothered doin the "chronicle mode" .. all my cars do under 10 secs, i luv dat !! for all the beginers buy the "Peugeot 206" its exactly 13,000 n dont do it up just keep racing in the "Event races" un till u get about 30,000 den buy a nice car .. 300zx ... wrexy ... den do em up ...watch ull be owning all the otha cars... (coz ur still in the early stages...lol)
|
You guys are funny.... |
| Ashley from Atlanta says (26/Dec/2002): |
Some of you have no clue about cars and HP....a supra can make 750 HP and run 12 secs in the quarter, and a Camaro can make 300 HP and run 12 secs in the quarter...reason being...the camaro has 8 cylinders and the supra has 4 and twin turbos...so wouldnt you think 4 would have to work twice as hard? Of course, ive been doing this all my life....so its accurate....a good game...fun to play.....do some research before you bash something...just makes you look stupid :)

Sega GT 2002 |
| Đigital §pirit: from WGC, England says (27/Dec/2002): |
Well I got this game free, I had GT3 on PS2 and I think it is a big improvement, the lisence system is shorter and easier, the in game graphics are superb, the choice of cars is very nice and I think Sega have used their "trademark" way of adding in lil extras that u can but which arent necessary but if u'r like me buy anyway.
Hint for Beginners:
Start wiv the peugeot 206 (such a gr8 car), will cost 13,000 exactly, do the 1st official race as its easy, then keep doin drag races, (go into the game options and turn TCS off, this will make u will spin at start but will kick u off at 40....nice) win all round in the drag race and recieve a free car (the dodge charger). Use this car to win drag races more easily until u get the special drag race car which u can then sell for bout 25,000, keep saving, sell ur 206, and use the charger to carry on winnin races until u hav bout 55,000 (its easier than it sounds, dont be put off) use this to buy a "Lotus Exige", this is the daddy of all cars, I still use mine (however mine is 100% tuned), it has amazin acceleration and handlin, u can clock the game wiv this car, tune it up and be amazed.........Good Luck!!!

GT2002 vs GT 3? |
| Chris from LA Cali says (28/Dec/2002): |
I'm an avid player of both games, and I have to admit. I got this game not thinking it was going to be good at all. I mean seriously, who gets a good game for free right? I was pleasantly surprised when I started up my system and found the game to be much like Gran Turismo. I'll admit, gran turismo does have more interaction with your car as well as more advanced customization, however, there are some reality issues with the cars. First and foremost, the VR4, RX7, and the Toyota Supra. These are cars with turbos already equiped. So it makes sense that you shouldn't be able to buy a turbo and strap it on without removing the old one. Yet in GT3, you can do this. Also, if the turbo already exists, you should be able to tweak. However, in the games, you can't. There are few other little things as well. GT3 is a great game though but now on to GT2002. My exhaust system cracked open! How cool is that?! Of course it sucked having to replace it, but that's what you get when you buy used equip and push it to the limit ;). Now that's realistic. GT3 and GT2002 are great games though, I don't think anyone should knock either of em.

SWEET |
| powder8000 from California, USA says (30/Dec/2002): |
I got my Xbox with the game for Christmas. This is one of the best racing games I've played. It seems to me the cars handle like real cars. You don't have to stop completely on corners. Just slide into them while breaking. As you start to slide into a wall give it gas. The car never hits the wall (that is if you started sliding right as you enter the turn. Haven't been able to do it on the hair pin turns yet. All I can say is this game is great.

Sup everyone |
| A gamer says (1/Jan/2003): |
NE1 ever played MCO? (Motor City Online) I like Sega Gt 2002, i think its better than GT3, except for all the ricers in the game but my Charger makes quick work of them:) this is the first game i've played with a 68 Charger in it, i like the new Viper too, some of the specs of both cars are a little of but i can overlook that
|
Not Bad |
| Nick from Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada says (1/Jan/2003): |
The cars in this game look fantastic, although it would have been better to see more of a variety of cars. The game was relatively easy to beat, it took me about 10hours to complete it. It was fun to play at the beginning but started to get boring really quicky. I gave this game a 7/10 just because of its realism interms of graphics and gameplay.
|
It's an accurate racing simulator, but above all, it's FREE! 4 some |
| Jerry from West Palm Beach, FLA!!!!! says (2/Jan/2003): |
Pros:
Pretty good graphics, enuff "modes" to keep u bizzy 4 awhile, the upgrades really make u feel like the owner of the whip(CAR), pretty nice cars(I especially like the concept cars),you could add things to ur garage, hang pictures of ur whips, and a custom soundtrack!
Cons:
The game really takes foreva,(i like to drive reckless so i take turns bad, that usually cost me tha game), too much loading between everything!, the constant replays, limited cars(compared to GT3) and limited levels(compared to all racing games)
Project Gotham Racing + Sega GT 2002= One fuc#in awesome game!!!
|
sweet but not the best |
| SATAN from Glendale Heights, IL says (2/Jan/2003): |
Sega GT 2002 is a very sweet game with the damage, traction control, setting your own price for selling cars, and the game itself rocks. I really like it don't get me wrong, but money in Sega GT 2002 is hard to come across because when you start you only make 4,000 a race, minus what gets taken away to pay for the cars damage. Then you get liscense and you earn more money, but then the competition becomes alot tougher and faster. competition is good but to keep up with them you have to spend every dollar you make on speed parts not suspension, brakes, or tires. I've had Gran Turismo games since their debut and they have caused my love for racing simulation games not crappy nascar games ( although i do like NASCAR racing ), but Sega GT is a great game. everyone says its a good game because it was free, thats a dumb thing to say, If a game is truly good you'll pay for it. so I give it an eight.

SWWWWWEEEEEEEET |
| Tyler from Medicine Hat, Canada says (4/Jan/2003): |
I have Project Gotham racing, and need for speed HP2.....and i got this game for free, and although the other 2 games have more exotic cars, this game is still my favorite! has realistic handling, sounds, everything! all i wanted was a 3000gt or a Dodge Stealth Twin Turbo....thats it....but even without them its a wicked game!

GT vs GT 2002 |
| speedy from TN says (5/Jan/2003): |
GT 2002 as far as realizem handling rules gt-3 , for thos of you who are wondering what the fastest car is its the ford gt concept the (yellow one) and i hate ford time u add everything to it + nitro ( top speed of 203 ) it makes times of 8 sec in the drag use a mt to get that timei could lap atleast 1 car in every race but for thelast one on season 2, i was really disaponted the 3000 gt wasent in this game it was a real let down it was the fastest car in gt-3 good tose up between skyline and 3000 gt. best feature about this game the wear and tear on the car raceing games like this have needed that feature. They can get rid of that camera crap tho make a option to turn it off. it did lack the tune able options that we all loved in GT-3 and the where was the parts information at ? it gave like a 5 word sentace and that was to tell what it was not the specs and so on MS should come up with there own game im sure it would be 100 times better then sega gt and ps gt by far well thats my opion for today great game over all but lacking serouisly in some departments

Best racing game of the year. |
| ryan from Scipio,IN says (5/Jan/2003): |

Ignorance: The condition of being uneducated, unaware or uninformed. |
| A gamer from Queensland says (8/Jan/2003): |
Come on people if you are really thinking of submitting a review, you should probably have some vague conception of what you are talking about. Some of the things that have been submitted on this page wouldent even be worthy of a golden star or sticker from my old 1st grade teacher.
Now, I have played copious amounts of racing sims, car games etc. on various consoles in my time, and I am a huge fan of Gran-Turismo. Although, I am reviewing Sega GT 2002 for the X-Box, and do not wish to compare to GT3 or any other for that matter, but only to say that this game would have to be one of the best I am yet to experience. Combining a true racing feel with the luxury of over 125 cars to choose from AND modify is something that sets it apart. The realism of the exterior car detail is astonishing, yet i must say that although not a huge factor this game does lack in the area of scenery, i would have thought that with such attention to detail with the cars they would have put more effort into the scenery. Yet this games' pros does far out do the cons. This game is a true achievement in the area of "racing sims" and indeed deserves its recognition.

I haven't got the slightest clue about cars so give me some help |
| kinky from Moon says (8/Jan/2003): |
I haven't got the slightest clue about cars and haven't taken a liking to racing games for GT1 pissed me off so much. I also don't have a clue what most of you guys a talking about. I got this game for free as well and started off doing the chron. mode. I used the Celica 3000gt and found it was a pretty easy car to drive. I then started on the gt mode and to my surprise the celica was only 8000 bucks. I bought it and raced a few races. I unlocked the Jag (can't remember it's name) and used that to drag. From there I've picked up a few free cars from the official races. The situation I'm in now is that I've just scraped through the B licence test and I haven't got a competitive car in any of the races. Help boys!
P.S because the game was a freebie, I think the designers of this game had my type in mind, that's probably the reason why you full on gamers and racers think it's so easy.

one of the best racing games ever. |
| graham daley from nelson, england says (11/Jan/2003): |
I think this game is way better than GT3. I have played GT3 and I thought that is was totally rubbish so I think that it is a game that is worth about 15%. Sega gt has some of the best cars in the world. I think that it is one of the best racing games ever. It has good racing tracks on the game. I think that it is a game worth playing.
