For "Kinky" without a clue |
| F1Lover from Ft. Worth, TX says (16/Jan/2003): |
Well, without going into massive detail about advanced driving techniques, and spending an hour explaining the "traction circle" formula, just keep repeating this when approaching corners: slow in, fast out. In other words, do most of your braking BEFORE you get to the turn, not after you've entered the turn and realized you're sliding off the other side of the track. Once you've got that down, try accelerating through the corner, backing off the gas when the car starts to "push", or go wide. It's also a big help to have the car upgraded with racing tires, brakes, suspension, and weight reduction (forget about all the horsepower items for now); you will see a DRAMATIC improvement over trying to boost the HP up to unrealistic levels.
And who was it that was complaining about a 600 HP Supra should run better than 11's in the 1/4 mile? Not if you can't get that HP to STICK to the pavement....all you're doing is roasting your tires, and turning on your traction control won't help, because then you're too slow off the line, and most of the time you get left behind. And something one guy briefly touched on was weight. Power to weight ratio has a LOT to do with how well you perform on the drag strip. Monster amounts of torque, and a light car, only cause the tires to go up in smoke. If you can find the right balance for each car (power to weight ratio), you'll be more successful. I have a Ford GT Concept that I've only boosted to about 550 HP (I saved the game and tried putting everything on this car, resulting in I don't remember how much HP and torque, but the car got WAY too squirrely and unpredictable, so I didn't save the data again), and I've beaten just about every other car in the game (makes you wonder if there's some commercial chest-beating going on, huh?). I'd like to see a real race between the Concept Viper and the Concept GT; that would be interesting.

Good but lacking on realism in some areas... |
| Steve Parker from Albury, Australia says (18/Jan/2003): |
SEGA GT2002 is an excellent game but is lacking on some crucial areas. I found the sound effects of the engine was pretty poor compared to Gran Tourismo (2 or 3) and the handling of some of the cars a unrealistic.
The textures also wobble like heat waves over a BBQ when going down a straight section. I think this is when the game is loading the textures.
Apart from this the rest of the game is good, nice selection cars and interesting events to compete in.

Best X-Box racer yet |
| Stryder (Black Balrog) from Victoria, Australia says (22/Jan/2003): |
Plenty of cars, enough option to keep you going for ages, good mutli-player, and graphics that 0wn over anything that sony could ever dream of. So many rice burners, with a few V8's thrown in for good measure, if you play this game and give it a good bash u wont want to put down the controler. Build up a car and drag it down the 1/4 mile Vs what ever your friends have made, fun factor out the window! Rules over GT3, dont listen to what anyone has to say, if they bag this game they r just sony lovers with no clue. Oh... and so many Nissans! Go the racing 240Z!

could do a whole lot better!!! |
| turbo nutter from oxford,england says (26/Jan/2003): |
What happened?! There i was expecting a game to absolutely blitz gran turismo 3 in terms of graphics, gameplay and options and instead got a poor imitation of the original gran turismo. I must confess that i think gt3 is an excellent game so i was hoping that us x-box gamers would have something a bit special, given the far superior capabilities of our machine, yeah sure the rendering of the cars themselves is impressive(if a little too shiny) but the backdrops are very disappointing and that heat shimmer, is it supposed to be that noticeable? I can't imagine so.also the music is absolutely dire, it's just as well you can put your own choons on it! on the plus side though the selection of cars isn't bad (although no where near as good as gt3)and the ford gt concept just thrashes everything except the caterham! that said when are games companies going to realise that unless you can tune the arse off peugeot 206's and the like we just ain't interested, what we really want are big scary-fast hellraisers with stupid amounts of power just like in,yes i'm gonna say it again,gt3! the bottom line is the x-box is so much better than ps2 or gamecube so why do we get ps2 hand me downs and sub standard games are you listening microsoft?

A Quality Racing Game |
| Rob from Salt Lake City Utah says (28/Jan/2003): |
A Good Game, I've spent alot of time playing it and have found it to be very competitive to GT3. The only thing that bothers me is I havent found a way to turn off the Stupid Replay, It was cool the 1st 100 times, now its really annoying, but besides that, Its a definate must have for any racing fan

Ford GT Concept |
| Karl from dublin., Ireland says (5/Feb/2003): |
You can buy this car quite early on in the game. It is expensive and you will probably have to sell a car to buy it. $150.000 i think. But it is worth it. It is definetly the fastest car in the game. mine is up to about 820hp and goes like hell i have fineshed the game with this car and I have got all of the upgrades (lightweight, turbosa, tyres the whole shootin match. Forgat the charger I have it and it does not compare. The closes I have got is the Ford GT40 whic i have jammed up 1012hp - sounds great but its just too damn heavy - as soon as you come to a corner you have to almost stop just to get around it. I think that the next best car is the Caterham R500R jam this sucker up and watch it go - it weighs almost nothing and and it has fantastic accelleration but not a ghood top speed

where is the damage? |
| cap from Northen Irland says (7/Feb/2003): |
i think gt 2002 is cool and good to play. But i do not think there is anuff damage in it and that when you crash the car is not wreck at all.If they bring out another saga gt i hope that you can do more things and there will be more reckage in it so that your car looks wreck. And another thing ,i thought that you would be able to make your own car and stuff like that and get more parts for your car

the best racing game out there |
| A gamer from Sault Ste. Marie Canada says (8/Feb/2003): |
The game Sega GT is pretty cool and it is a pretty good competitive game. I love the GT Concept it is easy to handle and you can buy it and you don't have to win it. i took the Concept and stolked it so that it has 720hp and the best tires, brakes, and gears. I put nitro in it and now it runs great. The only thing i am disapointed about is that the game doesn't have the best muscle car of all the Shelby Cobra which is the best looking and fastest muscle car there ever was. I think any ways. I also think that this game was good enuff to have a sequal and i hope that if microsoft does make another game that they will add Pontiacs, Shelby's, and porches'. The other thing is that the last lisence test the SS is way to hard up. If you spin the tires you shouldn't have 3 whole blocks taken away and if your tail end slides you shouldn't get blocks taken away. Hell I have seen people do that on the streets and in my city and they still got there lisence. so i hope you take my words to mind and do something about it.Know I hope you understand what us gamers think about well we use your products.

This game pretty much rocks. |
| Che from Pennsylvania says (11/Feb/2003): |
Let me tell you.. i thought that this game was pretty cool. I wish you had a little more options when buying your first car, but my FIAT Punto Abarth came out nicely. Won the charger and some other cars with that thing. I to am having a tough time with the second license test. My cars are the Toyota Supra RZ Twin Turbo. The car is at 438 horsepower, isnt fully loaded, and it kicks the $#< remove me > at ! out of everyone else. i go through cars like nothing. I sold the charger, chavelle, Fiat and a buinch of others. The Mustang GT was fun but now am trying to sell it. no one wants it. I now have the Supra and the Corvette.....my recent aquisation. I had the Exerge i think it is from lotus, but am looking foward to the other mustangs and fords.

this was a ok game |
| A gamer from Norwalk says (13/Feb/2003): |
I think that sega gt was a ok game. The only reason that I think its this way is because when you get the Ford GT concept car its over. No one else can beat or give me a run for my money. The one thing I can figure out is how to get the other Ford the white one. My favorite part was the that it was really hard to get to the top. But now that I'm there its boring.
|
the best dang game on the earth! |
| steven lackey from north carolina usa says (14/Feb/2003): |
I think that sega gt 2002 is kind of cool but the only thing is that you cant buy the dodge viper gt sr.I like the graphics except the point when your buying a car and theres the big glare on the cars. The cars that I have are the toyota supra and the nissan skyline when I suped up the two cars I did some math and came up with a total of 1647 hp on the two cars. But thats the only complaint that I have about the game. Other than that I think the game is awesome and I will keep on playing the game until I get tired of playing the game.

This game sucks |
| Billy Smith from Norton Kansas 67654 says (15/Feb/2003): |
Their is no realism in the racing or the damage to a car. This may have flew a few years back but gamers demand more. If all these reviews say this game is good then they must be on crack cocaine. Leave this game in the middle of the street and let people run over it, because that would be funner than playing the darn thing. Let me put it this way if Atari 2600 and Xbox came out at the same time it would be compared to Sega Gt 2002 vs Nascar thunder........ It's ridiculous that you mind numbed people like this game and must be poor trailer trash and can't afford anything else if you would hail this game as anything better than a paperweight for the grand poopa of the Jenny Craig workout centers.(huh?) Well anyway quit lying to these poor people and tell them the truth this game bites and if you do not think so, then go to ebay and look for yourself.....people are basically giving them away.
Save yourself the trouble and buy one of the Nascar games or Splinter Cell because this game, shouldn't even be called a game..It's more like a bad acid trip or seeing your parents have sex or something...
|
This a the best game ever. |
| Ravi Luke from Markham, Canada says (17/Feb/2003): |
This game is damn good. The graphics are slick, precised control and an ultimate graphing capability. It has great graphics for xbox and you can even play your own songs when playing this game. Thus, this game can be a very good game if taken seriously., but I know, you wont.
|
I love the game! |
| PimpMastaBri from Tacoma, WA says (21/Feb/2003): |
I think the game was excellent. I like how you had to win some of the cars instead of just being able to buy every single car (Dodge Viper GTS-R). I loved the way they incorporated classics but some of the cars were too dang crappy and frustrating. The only thing I disliked about the game was the damage. The damage meter is cool, but games really need to start having better crashes and real time damage. Can't wait til Midnight Club 2 comes out for XBox. I beat the game a while ago, and now i'm just waiting for a better code for getting money so that some day I can get all the cars and fully modify them.
|
FANTASTIC!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| Luke Davies from Llanelli, South Wales. says (25/Feb/2003): |
When i bought the game I thought here's another Gran Turismo3 but when i put it on I got blown away by the outstanding graphics and gameplay. I have over 17 cars and my 2 favourites are the (Ford GT concept, and the Lotus Esprite'2002' model)I give this game a whoping 15/10...I can't wait for the next Sega Gt!

Its all about drift |
| Alex from Australia says (1/Mar/2003): |
I hardly even play the game anymore, i am in the process of mastering drift. I have a beefed to the teeth Supra RZ twin turbo with over 500hp. My goal was to make it smoke in 4th gear, having done that i can smoke the tyres at over 200kmph. To do this though you have to take traction control off.
This game would be so much better if it had HEAPS more smoke.
Go fry some tyres!!
|
WOW MAN THE GREATEST RACER EVER |
| Alex King from Surrey, England says (3/Mar/2003): |
When i first got this game I thught that it was another driving game the 6millionth one available. But I was wrong. It pretty much takes on the GT series on the PS2 but it was better in every aspect. The detail on the cars is amazing. The vast amount of cars is fantastic. The reason I gave this a 9 was because of the damage. In third person,if you have max damage the car is left unscathed. But even when this happens you have to pay for the damage. That adds to the reality of it though, you ocassionaly break parts and things like that.
|
very good.....but missing something.... |
| Chris Orosco from Cookville,Tenn,USA says (20/Mar/2003): |
This game is by far the most excellent racing game for the Xbox but after I played it it was missing something. The game has pretty good detail in cars and has excellent accuracy in the gameplay and the most fun is tunning up the cars and buying stuff to make my garage look "spiffy".Though all its a good game but there still was something missing....then it hit me,the game length. For one thing I beat the game getting all 1st place in every race which tells you something. Then and finally is that it was too short, but sure after that you can buy cars and tune them up. After awhile it can get alittle boring. If your a racing fan get this game no dought, but if your a hardcore gamer u might just want to rent this one, trust me.
|
i beat it once now i got to beat it again |
| dude says (30/Mar/2003): |
after u get thru the game u notice u got to beat it again and then after all that u realize that when u play the speacial events to own every car in the game its inpossible it wont give the speacial prize when u win half the time its like u have use the rite car with the rite parts or somthin u cant just win so after uve sold all your cars form the begin to make the others faster at the end u just wanna drive every single car but u cant

Rotortboboy |
| Shane from Sydney Australia says (31/Mar/2003): |
The game seemed to lack graphics and realism. It needs more cars and car upgrades. Each dealership needs all of their cars to create more of a variety. The game needs more tracks and better graphics. If a newer game is released by sega and contained these inprovements it would be an unreal game. Also the game is too short, I finished the entire game in under two days thanx to my hangover.
