One of the best games I ever played. |
| A gamer from Houston, Texas, USA says (24/Jan/2003): |
This game is a very good racing game. There is only a couple of things that I dont like about it. The fact that you can't buy turbines for the Viper or the Corvette really bugs me. I love the graphics, and I love the way the cars look so realistic. This game puts Grand Turisimo at the bottom of the ocean. Overall GT 2002 is the best racing game I have ever played. I think there should be more seasons, because it took hardly any time to finish the first two seasons. They were really easy. There is one more thing I do not like about Sega GT 2002 : The fact that after every race, it always wants to give you a replay. I think there should be an option at the place where you choose the race that asks me if I want a replay or if I want to race a different race or if I want to rematch my previous race. The races themselves are awesome, but the fact that it always asks for a replay annoys me because I have to press start and exit out of it. I wish I didn't have to do that.
But overall Grand Turisimo is nothing compared to this game. Best racing game ever!!!

And the First Place Loser is Sega GT2002 |
| A gamer from NSW, Australia says (25/Jan/2003): |
I got this game from the massive entertainment pack and it was the first game i played, mainly becos of i thought to myself if this is anything like Gran Turismo3 or better i can't wait to play it. I started the story mode bought myself a puegeot and started racing. The first thing i noticed was that the background graphics were something you'd expect a 4 year old to draw and you couldn't see the damage that had been done to your car. The second thing i noticed was that real life physics were none existant; The PS2 obviously CopyRighted it, so dont even bother sliding. You know what im just gonna go on to the positive points, if there were any. Oh well this game will be fun for another five minutes and then ill probly use it for a frisby.

I'm surprised such a good game came for free with my XBOX. |
| A gamer from Sacramento,California says (31/Jan/2003): |
This game is pretty good. There is only one downside I have located, always giving you the replay after a race. They should put in an option for yes/no replay. Other than that, this was good. I am working on the game now. I am at 206 days, $68,441, my cars are a Charger and Corvette. Corvette has 5665<<, 625 hp, and 5905 torque. Charger is (my primary)7200<<, 767 hp., and 792 torque, with all advancements in horsepower and weight reduction. I love that car. I thought the graphics were good except for the major sun reflection on the car. I also liked how when you got an advancement (such as turbines) the sound of the engine changes. I am having some serious trouble on the stage two lisence. I bet you're all laughing at that huh. Seriously, if I could use my Charger or Corvette or even (God forbid) the Abarth 131 Rally im selling for 33,500. Yeah, that really cruddy Fiat. I put turbines in it AND a bolt on turbo ( I used it for the Battle of 70's and I am sick of that car. those two alone are 15000+8000 bucks. 23 grand plus the initial 10,500 it costs totals 33,500. I won it. It's horrible. I Can't stand it. Forget Battle of 70's. Get it out of my garage. But on the License test they GIVE you a Model T. Well, not seriously, but they might as well, the car they give you is slow. I would like to get farther in the game but all it's doing is slowly, slowly, slowly, race,by race,by race driving me CRAZY. Anyway, I feel it will last me a long time. I race about 15-20 times, overhaul the engine (or whatever else needs it) and do it again. This is really my first racing game I have owned and played. I am typically into first-person shooters, and this is a good, creative game, even for people who are not normally into racing. The XBOX company really gives you a good deal for your money. This game is completely free with the XBOX. It also doesnt take much space on the hard drive. It takes 191 out of 50,000+. That's nothing. But I think replays take space if you save them. Not sure, didn't take the chance. That's pretty much it.
Also, just so you know:
Try to beat the whole first drag racing thing ASAP, if you get a C lisence, there will be more cars and theyre harder.
AND
The corvette is the best car that you can use money and buy in the car shop. It is only 49 grand so save up for that. If you would like, go back in this review and look at the stats I have for it. That car won me the Charger. I highly reccomend both of those. And don't sell the Corvette once you get the Charger. If you can't afford to overhaul the engine in the charger after racing a lot, you'll need a backup car. Corvette.

BRILLIANTTTTTTTTTTT the best game EVER |
| chris from swindon great britain says (8/Mar/2003): |
I think SEGA GT 2002 is the Best racing game off this type.I like the races were you can race the more classic cars from the 70's and 80's because that just brings history and changes it into preasant.Getting money rocks too.I recomend this BRILLIANTTTTT game to anyone with an xbox console. If you want to chat online with me about other Xbox games I would be most happy to talk to you.

This is a great but HARD game |
| A gamer from USA says (21/Apr/2003): |
This game has great grafics, although you can't see the damage done to your car (which really bums).Yes, the backround looks bad, but who pays much atention to it? The songs in this game !RULE! This game is long and hard. I recomend this game to people. Like I mentioned before, what makes the game worse is the dificulty: The licence tests drive me CRAZY!
|
Great game but noting to do when u finished it |
| sam clough from Lennox Head, Australia, the best surfin spot in the world says (27/Apr/2003): |
i recently finished sega gt 2002 for my 2nd time, i thought it's a brillant game BUT there is nothing else to do except break my 8.2 second record on the drag with my Z20. heres what i thought about the game
PROS
Awesome graphics the best racing game ive played on PC PS2 N64 and XBOX, i think that there is no mip mapping like on some of the PS1 and PS2 games.
The cars are actually real cars, and the properties are actually life like, that really impressed me espessially the difference handling between the Caspita, and the Stingray. the game has a long life span (i've practually being playing this every day since chrismas), which is very important. the fun factor i rate is about 8.5-9 it's just a damn good game
Cons
this isnt sorta of a con but after you beat the game you cant do anything else, except drag someesle in with you and kick thewm in multiplayer.
You can only go get all the cars or get all the parts not both (so you do two different games). the multiplayer tracks are two hard to open (ive got all the norms, and also FW2 and the ring stage), plaese reply back to me on the address below or above where ever they put it. It's basically a copy of grand tourismo 1, 2, 3, 4. that's about all the cons.
but this game is a brillant game, i give it 8.5/10 and try and beat my time of 8.237 seconds on the drag with the corvette Z20
and another piece of advice, the gt concept is not required to finish the game, i used the Z20 and the NSX Type R 02.

Sega GT 2002 |
| "Unknown" from Sterling Heights, Michigan USA says (6/May/2003): |
I believe this game could have been much better than it is, but still has much potential. I must say that the graphics are fabolous but the controls are kind of sticky and needs much needed work. It could be better if so many cars weren't for sell. I must say that the game would be even more exciting if you could be your own car from the ground up. Then more and more people would have this game and not selling or throwing it away. Otherwise, the game has his own catergory.

Idiots who dont know racing games... |
| Matt from Denver says (8/May/2003): |
I dont know, but there pathetic attemps to make a worthy driveing games just dont cut it. Sega GT 2002,the follow up to that rather rubbish Dreamcast game, Sega GT,is just another medicore racer which trys to be up there with the big racing games, but just falls short. You need to upgrade your car in this game alot, and if you dont, you will loose, garenteed. It dosent matter how much skill you have or how many racing games you played,if you dont upgrade that car, you'll loose. I dont always feel like upgradeing a car in a game, either. But this game almost forces you to. The graphics arent all that impresive, either. Project Gotham Racing has much better graphics, and it came out a few months before this horrible mess of a game. The cars just dont look really appealing, either, dispite some of the licences. This game is just pretty damn boring. I mean even if you do upgrade your freaking car its just boring to play. It trys to be a sim and an arcade racer, but you cant just do that. You have to pick one way or the other. For these reasons alone, I feel you shouldent buy this game or rent it. Sega GT 2002 is the worst racing game on Xbox. Get Project Gotham Racing instead.
This is the most realistic racing game there is. You have to tune your car up because thats what happens in real life, dip$#< remove me > at !. You obviously dont know a good racing game when you see one. If you dont like it, FINE, but dont go 'round tellin everybody who actually likes the game that it was naff
|
What are you talking about |
| Xander Cage from San Fransisco, USA says (11/May/2003): |
This game is really tight, I don't know what you are all thinking, but this game is the BEST racing game ever created. I don't know what you're thinking, in saying that it is lame to hop up your car, that is the best features. OH yeah! and the game play is really good, the controls, are great, and the graphics are awesome. The only reason that it got a 9 was because the Chevelle sounds like an Inline-4 instead of a V8.
|
i think it is a great game |
| urMASTER from pedro says (17/May/2003): |
i think that this is a great racing game i have played a lot of racing games in my time and i love this one i play this game more than ne other game i have for my xbox cause it is so fun to play i dont know wats so important about the damage i really dont care about it u can fix up your car and the cars look very real and controls on this game rule its easy to win and the drag stripe that is like awsome when u have freinds over u just drag race thats cool this game is a []0 ][ []\/[] []0s game to me
|

| A gamer from caledonia,mississippi says (30/May/2003): |

If there were a better racing game, I'd eat it! |
| A gamer says (31/May/2003): |
So I'm not an avid game player, I've owned Atari 7600, 2600, nintendo 5 yrs after it came out, ps one, and now an Xbox. Let me just say it's the best system thus far. Moving along, I don't play many games and definetly not racing or sports games but I found a new love. I can't put the controller down for a minute! 2002 is the best racing game out there it blows Gran Turismo out of the box. The cars are bad ass, the setup is pretty good and the competition is more than decent. I do have a couple of beefs with it. The license tests are a little much. I have them all but the SS and that one is just insane. I have the for concept GT running 9.433 in the drag race and 1st place with best in all my races but I can't pass the SS test. Also the view in the garage leaves a lot to be desires. I own all the goods from the used parts menu and all are clustered in the one half but none in the bar {hardly}. A lamborghini would be nice or buick Grand National but I'll say all in all this game is a top 20 game for XBox, or I'll eat it!!!!
|
pretty good |
| Ben Moore-Coll from Charrlottesville, USA says (6/Jun/2003): |
The license tests were WAY too hard, but other that that it is a great game. I have all but one license, the SS, and feel that that license is IMMPOSSIBLE. There need to be more cars. I've played grand turismo 3 a-spec on PS2 and like that more because of the abundance of cars(come on no Ferraris, lambrogihnis, saleens, porsches!!). The gameplay is great, its very easy to get around in. The graphics are really good but there needs to be exterior damage or you don't get charged for it. I got my
X-Box a while ago and still play the game alot. The SS license is too hard, you either need more time or can use any cars. If anyone has beaten it please e-mail me, I would like to congradulate you. I don't know which came first, GT 2002, or Grand Turismo 3, but one is defently a copy of the other. Over all a great game well worth the nine stars I gave it.

No one knows what there talkin about! |
| A gamer from walla walla wash. says (18/Jun/2003): |
Everybody who thinks sega gt 2002 is a bad game probably sucks at it. They think it sucks cause they cant get any money and are lazy.If you dont feel like upgrading cars for what 5000 $ then you suck at this game and have bad hand eye coordination.ITS A GOOD GAME TRY PLAYIN MORE THAN 1 RACE!!!
|
Sega GT 2002 is an excellent racing game, but they could have done better. |
| L#TH@l says (18/Jun/2003): |
This is ONE of tha best racing games I've found. but it needs serious work. The Graphics are presentable but could have made realtime damage and more tracks. But I do have to say it was a challenge. it took me 653 days to beat tha SECOND SEASON!!
I mean is tha SS licence test that hard?. Oh and my best drag is 6.144 seconds
|
Easy As!!!!! |
| dan curtis from camden, AUSTRALIA says (18/Jun/2003): |
i hav completed all licenses and once u do that u are given the red dodge viper!! it is worth it. all u need is some patience and a decent tuned up car. i completed the game with a skyline gt-r, its not that hard!!!! if u win the tipo car u can sell it for 320 000 dollars, sweet!!!
|
Great game but needs improvments, perhaps a second????? |
| derrek from st. pete, Fl. says (28/Jun/2003): |
great game but many improvments are needed, one it needs to be longer!!!!, second more tracks and cars please? also i noticed that my vett z06 with every part is better than the ford consept by a long shot! and how the hell do i get that damn viper!!?!??? overall, pretty good.

GT3 IS GAY |
| SEAN from ontario,canada says (7/Jul/2003): |

|
The viper is sick |
| Damien from Waterbury,Ct says (22/Jul/2003): |
yo who ever says that the viper suks in sega gt 2002 is mad gay ill that is like the best car the horse power is 500 nigga and the torque is good but someone said that the game is real and it brings it to life it not like other racing games where your tires never go bad or your engine never dies and it sick how you can fully hook up your cars my top 3 favorite cars are the
1.viper
2.skyline
3.wrx
those cars make tyhe game sick they should have put a little more cars like you could be able to create your own car and race it but sega gt 2002 is mad sick and i give it ten stars it is sick peace out holla

Good solid game, just lacks replay value |
| Super Gaijin from Charlottetown, PEI says (14/Dec/2003): |
It took me a couple of tries to get a good season mode going but I finally got the cashflow going to keep up with my opponents. There's a decent amount of vehicles but some manufacturers are seemingly wasted (like Ford and Chevy, they each had only 2-3 different cars).
It's all about getting the Opel Speedster and building it up with super racing tires and all the other upgrades you can get for it. The car has nothing but handling and nice acceleration. Not much for top speed but so long as you know how to drive, you can own anyone out there with it. I've beaten the Corvette Z06 in the final race of the first season with the Opel Speedster, and that's obviously without all the upgrades.
It has its good points and its bad points and after finishing the season completely, there's nothing else to do. There's no replay value since the game's just long enough to make you want to never go through that again. The only fun thing to do afterwards, and even then it's not THAT fun, is make enough money to buy EVERY car in the game (and keep all the unlocked ones) and do full upgrades to every one of them.
One question, however, why is there no handbrake?
