The best racing simulation on X Box by far!11955

Marcus from Mesquite, Texas USA says (28/Nov/2002):
When I first played Sega GT 2002, It took me a few minutes to get the turning down. After I got that accomplished, I have been playing Sega GT mode ever since! I dislike no visible damage to the cars, but without a doubt, this is THE racing simulator for X Box!

Sega GT 200211860

Steven Rhodes from Hampstead, NC says (26/Nov/2002):
I got this game only because it came with the XBOX bundle (it and JSRF) and I've been playing it ever since. Pretty difficult with Excellent graphics and much more realism then GTA games. Only problems I see are long loading times and no visual damage to car. Other then that, excellent.

above average game11782

darkninja from Prescott Valley, AZ, USA says (25/Nov/2002):
I like that they have most of the rotary engine vehicles. The fact that they have rendered them so accurately performance wise and looks, impressed me. Other than that, it's an average game.

Good but not Great11804

Dan Garland from Gainesville, Ga. U.S.A. says (25/Nov/2002):
Sega GT 2002 is a game with a lot of potentional... The garage is the best of all racing games that i have tried, and by the way i am a master at all of them... Gran Turismo series is still the best racing games made to date, but there are some things about Sega GT 2002 that are better... My opinion is if you take Sega GT 2002's garage, and Lemans 24 pit stops, and some of the cars from these games (and some BMW M3's) and added them to Gran Turismo, THEN YOU WOULD HAVE THE ULTIMATE RACING GAME... The dificultly, and indept game play of Gran Turismo still has no match....

Better Than Grand Turismo, More Realistic And Cooler Cars11685

Ryan from charlotte NC usa says (23/Nov/2002):
i liek this game better than GT3 because i love old american muscle cars and this games chock full of em, i also like the drivers test on this one as apposed to the GT3 test wich are impossiple, i juts only wish someone made a game where you could buy any and every vehicle made by ford, GM, and honda/acura (trucks and vans included) then make it so you can customize them

Gran Turismo VS Sega GT 200211624

A gamer from SC, CA says (22/Nov/2002):
Sega has failed agian in their attempts to follow up their horrible first on Dreamcast. Gran Turismo is by far THE BEST racing game ever imagined. I hope Sega never tries to come up with another racing game as long as I live. For all of you that think the game is called "Grand Turismo" you're wrong. There is no D in the title. Learn to read.

just a bit more realistic11612

GeorgeDeadman1 from El Paso, Tx Usa says (21/Nov/2002):
I think overall Grand Turismo 3 is a better racing sim game than Sega Gt, however when it comes to the realism of the game Sega Gt takes the cake. examples of that include wear and tear on tires/suspension, muffler blowing out, and exterior damage. You can crash all you want on GT3 and your call will be unaffected

Fun, but where are the physics?11144

Ben from Chicago says (10/Nov/2002):
It was a lot of fun working your way up getting better cars. Then pretty early on you get the Ford Concept car, which you can put in about 750 HP and a top speed of about 202mph. Then later on you can get a different car that you can soup-up to well over 1000HP and guess what the top speed is...202mph. That was a BIG let-down! It was at that point we said this game is stupid and started using it as a frizzbee.

Don't see why everyone uses Grand Turismo as a standard to rate this game.11097

Xbox_Xtreme2002 from www.geocities.com/xbox_xtreme2002 says (9/Nov/2002):
Sure This game is similar to Grand Tursimo, but thats just because it is a racing sim. I don't see why they should be compared to each other, or there would be alot of other games on that list. Well, for starters, the game has over 100 fully licensed and acurately detailed cars, this game has great graphics, with realtime reflections, smooth vehicle renders, and great effects such as smoke and such. The Interface is ok, the menu's take too long to load and sometimes drives you crazy. The game is fun but there is'nt much sense of speed, it always seems like the car is not going fast enough even though the meter says something like 120 or something. the turning takes a bit of practice and is more realistic than some games because it actually requires you to brake to turn. The car wear and tear is what keeps the game going, you make money to fix up your car which is only damaged because you were trying to make money for an upgrade. But that gets annoying after a few muffler blowouts. The rate at which the car wears down depends on how you drive the car, if you skid or make rough turns often your shocks, suspensiona and tires will wear out faster and so on. The Overall sound of this game is good, the sound effects are nice and most of them sound acurate, but the music does not always go with the game. The controls are just like any other Xbox racing game, the Triggers for the gas and brake and the usual buttons. Multiplayer is not much fun, too slow to do anything funny or stupid to eachother. To summarize everything, i gave this game a 7 because i have to give sega credit for the great graphics and the detail given to the cars, but the fun factor is not exactly at it's highest, the game gets boring relatively quickly. and the multiplayer is just bad, no fun at all. the single player is fun until you get annoyed at trying to make money to repair that car that you are making the money with. Very time consuming. But overall it's an okay game. good for any graphics savvy people out there.

It's a photo finish between the two best racing sims out there.....11034

"Bob" from Indiana, USA says (7/Nov/2002):
The gran turismo series has been by far the best racing game ever made. i think that it still holds that title. sure the graphics in sega gt are realistic and driving is too, but gran turismo goes that extra inch for more realism. for me, whenever a racing game comes out on the market, i for one always compars it to gran turismo and not sega gt 2002. it's nice that if you want to sell your car, you can put your own price on it and see where it goes, but i would still like have a better variety of cars to be able to sell. what i'm saying is if both games came out with a new one on the same day and same price and you could only buy one, i bet all of you that own a ps2 and and xbox, you would all buy gran turismo 4 or what ever it may be called by that time over sega gt 2003etc. there could be a better mix of tracks and cars in gt 2002. example: ford only has 1 freakin car. i know that ford doesn't exactly have the best racing cars but come on. and by the way, could any racing sim game have freakin PONTIAC. i mean, the firebird, trans-am, grand am and grand prix can be a great competitor to the mustang, camaro, and jap crap that other games have. overall, i would buy both games just because x box needs a racing sim game badly but i believe that gran turismo still has the realistic racing series trophy won. sega gt 2002 is one of those games that you would gladly pay 29.99 for but would never want to fork out the 49.99 to get something that could've been so much better if the makers wanted it to be a real competitor.

Better than Grand Tourmisral By Far10513

Danny nolan from Burlinton Wa, USA says (21/Oct/2002):
Even though its around the same idea as the ps2 game. I think the graphics are much better and the game play is better, but I think it falls short of the car choices in amount of cars and in the car selection. like who wants to put a old celica with 113hp and put that up against a nissan skyline that has 153 hp i think that they should given alot more cars and free roaming courses and hopefully project Gothem Racing 2 can live up to that.

What the hell is Sega trying to pull here?10224

run out says (12/Oct/2002):
I dont know, but there pathetic attemps to make a worthy driveing games just dont cut it. Sega GT 2002,the follow up to that rather crappy Dreamcast game, Sega GT,is just another medicore racer which trys to be up there with the big racing games, but just falls short. You need to upgrade your car in this game alot, and if you dont, you will loose, garenteed. It dosent matter how much skill you have or how many racing games you played,if you dont upgrade that car, you'll loose. I dont always feel like upgradeing a car in a game, either. But this game almost forces you to. The graphics arent all that impresive, either. Project Gotham Racing has much better graphics, and it came out a few months before this horrible mess of a game. The cars just dont look really appealing, either, dispite some of the licences. This game is just pretty damn boring. I mean even if you do upgrade your freaking car its just boring to play. It trys to be a sim and an arcade racer, but you cant just do that. You have to pick one way or the other. For these reasons alone, I feel you shouldent buy this game or rent it. Sega GT 2002 is the worst racing game on Xbox. Get Project Gotham Racing instead.

One of the best Ive ever played!!9909

A gamer says (28/Sep/2002):
This game is awesome at first. It gets you right into all of the action in almost no time at all. Loading time is ok, although it loads too often. The carreer mode is awesome, but is kind of hard to finish, the competition gets fiercer every race. The best is to always have a bad car in your garage, like a Toyota Supra, but have it suped up for the drag races, jap cars are THE best for those. It takes forever to do most of the things, but eventually, youll get it done. The graphics are awesome. I could tell the difference between the cars in their pics before the race even starts. The engine sounds are almost perfect, i could even hear the clutch when i was driving! and the replay value is ok, though, you cant use much cars in multiplayer. this is definately one of the better classes of racing games.
