Are you people brainwashed? | | The Ronnerman from Atl, GA says (11/Feb/2003): | I waited SO long for this game. The screenshots were beautiful and the girls were hot in that sorta, anime way. Plus Beach Spikers for Cube sucked and that made this look even that much more promising. I just wanted a good volleyball game that looked great and had hot chicks. Is that too much to ask?
Apparently it is.
I put this game on reserve and paid on it a little at a time until it was totally paid off, and despite the fact that the release date was pushed back so many times I didn't think it was going to come out at all, I stayed loyal for the whole six months and thought "It's been a long wait, but MAN it'll be worth it!" Boy was I wrong. I feel so cheated and burned.
There is no depth to the game at all. No real story, despite what reviewers say. Camera angles virtually ruin the gameplay, and I usually try to play games around bad camera problems and make the best of it even when EVERYONE else bitches about them, but I just couldn't over look the fact that the camera was so slow that when the ball was in my court, the camera was still looking at my opponents!! I couldn't see anything at all! How can you play a game when you can't see what's going on!! The gambling is lame and simple, you can't interact with other girls in the casino and the computer will always win. On the island the days are WAY TOO SHORT, along with the whole 2 weeks. Oh, and the girls are all tempermental bitches that throw away gifts you give them. It's totally possible to go the whole game and not get a partner. That sucks, it ruins the game. Why play a volleyball game with no volleyball? You should be able to pick a permanent partner from the beginning of the game of your choice. Other than playing occasional matches, once you have a partner, you still have to buy her stuff to passify her...that and buy new bathing suits for yourself. THAT SUCKS!!
The graphics are grade A, tho, the girls ARE cute and the volleyball IS fun when you get it down, it's just that all that other crap I could look over if the game wasn't so full of it and had more of the good stuff. It gets a 4 b/c of the good things it DOES have, but this is just not a good game and I can't recomend it to anyone that's over 14 (no offense intended). I just couldn't enjoy this game no matter how hard I tried. Sorry.

I've been putting some time into the game ever since I recieved it and I think that the graphics for this game is just amazing! Like nothing I've ever seen before. The game play is farely simple though getting started teaming up with people is more difficult. Plus there is a casino to play gambling games such as blackjack and even a pool where you can play a jumping game across it. While you do things such as this you are making money and then you can take the money and go to different shops that are on the game and buy extra attire for the characters. The sound for this game fits it well, with music from people such as Bob Marley, Christina Aguilera, Reel Big Fish, Baha Men, and others. Though what makes the sound even better is that you can listen to what ever kind of music you have on your hard drive while playing the game. That way you can suit your own taste! This game surprized me even I can't believe how much interest I've gotten for this game. I think that this game is an extremely fun game in my opinion. If you have the money to spend once you see this game I believe that this is a game worth having a copy of. I wouldn't just say that about any game eithier. Or if not at leat rent it and give it a shot! So in conclusion to what I've said I give this game a perfect rating because I personally do not see anything wrong with the game and I'm going to continue playing Dead or Alive Xtreme Beach Volleyball and enjoying it!

The game play is sound and supprisingly addictive. There are only a couple of flaws that make the game from being a true block buster. The first and most important is the camera angels. The camera seems to favor the person with the ball. This means that occasoinally your player gets out of the ligh of sight, which leads to you haveing to feel your way to the ball. in additon u don't controll your comp counterpart. this leads to confusion as to whether u are gonna get the ball or she will. Also you only have 14 days to unlock content. After the end of the 14 days (SPOILER ALERT)..... the island's volcanio erupts and u are forced to pick another player and start over again. THAT SUCKS. Also the two player mode leaves a bit to be desired. Don't get me wrong the game play is outstanding but the options aren't there. You can only choose different bathings suit, no extras, and in order to get your coustom soundtracks to play u have to enter the one player mode then exit out to the two player mode. Just too time comusimg. But even with these flaws DOAX is an extremely addictive and fun game. Probably one of the best games out to date. Its not the T&A flick i thought it was gonna be (the bathing suits do get a bit tantalizing though) and i guess thats a good thing.

The game is misnamed, it should be called Jack's Happy Fun World. The women don't repsond to what I control them to do, I can't see my players half the time, and it's damn-near impossible to win a game because of the camera angle. I don't know maybe I'm doing something wrong, but I have more fun playing Fusion Frenzy and it's another simple (multi-game) X-Box game. I guess the a couple of things I could say positive about it. The graphics are really nice.....but the graphics are nice in DOA III and I can acutally play that. Back in the 1st intendo days they couldn't rely on graphics becuase the graphics sucked overall so they had to make playable games or else they got poorly reviewed. I don't see why DOA Xtreme is exempt from that?! So yes the graphics/animation are outstanding but that doesn't make a good game. The casino is almost the saving grace of the game, becuase the programmers seem to have spent more time on that than the Volleyball!!! The replayability value is not really there. I have yet to rent Outlaw volley, but if the volleyball game is as good as the golf game was I'd probably go that route.

I'll be honest, at first I didn't really think this game would be cool mostly because of the lack of gameplay. I knew the graphics would be hella good because DOA3 was kickass. So I bought the game spur of the moment (mostly because I had $50 to blow) but when I sat down and played this I was amazed. The fact that you actually have to give your partner a gift for her to actually like you and play good with you was really cool I thought. I only had one problem with the game, for the love of god, why did they have Dennis Rodman as the voice of Zack? I mean sure the guys at Tecmo probably felt bad because of his downward spiral of job oppurtunities but man... I opted for just turning the audio to japanese just to not hear him. But Rodman doing Zacks voice didn't effect the score I gave only because of the fact that you could get rid of the voice. But all in all, if you're looking for a game that has a tremendous amount of eye candy, and good gameplay, this is the game for you. This game will always be fun to play, and to look at haha. I only hope they make an expansion disc for the game. All in all, this was a great buy and I will always enjoy it!

First off, what you see on the game is nothing more than what you would see on the beach daily. The girls wear bikinis (also known as bathing suits). What you call soft porn, is what you see or wear everytime you lay out in the sun or go to the beach. As for the supposed code for nudity, I am not aware of it. Its like the supposed Nudality for Mortal Kombat. Whether it exists or not i do not know. More than likely, it doesnt!! Mainly because ESRB board would have put in the "A" (Adults Only) rating if it did have the code!! As for the game play it is very good(which surprised me). Remember on the GTA: Vice City in order to recharge your health you must sleep with a hooker; if that doesnt disturb you, then why would this game. With all this said, GROW UP!!!!!!!!!!!!
PS: Quit B*tchin on which game system is better, it makes you look stupid! If you notice each system is target different age groups: Game cube focus on the younger crowd. Playstation is geared toward middle teenagers. As for Xbox is geared older teenagers to adult.

The graphics alone are incredible; everything looks so real (uh, not certain things, but the scenery does). The beach and water look real and the girls' footprints leave impressions on the sand. The sound is great as well; I just wish the characters were speaking English since the subtitles are already in English. (Or it'd be cool if each girl spoke the language of her native country.) Some of the songs are annoying but you can remove them from the playlist if you want. I love how different this volleyball game is from most. It's by far the most creative. Buying from shops and choosing partners is fun, as well as playing the games. I like buying gifts for my partner (although sometimes they take my present and still don't partner up with me!) and spending money, especially since it's not my own. Overall, I thought the game was worth every cent I spent on it. I love playing volleyball, the graphics of the game, and buying new suits for my girl. It's a great game and I would recommend it to anyone who likes the DOA series, volleyball, or just girls in bikinis...

My first impressions were excellent graphics but poor gameplay and it was a game that didn't have a long lifespan. The visual aspects of the game were everything promised and more, the detail to the characters and background is astonishing but the actual gameplay lacked. there is a hopping game for your to improve your jumping, which doesn't really help you. there are some shops in which you can buy bikinis, gifts, drinks, guns, sun-cream etc. than comes the actual game of volleyball. this i found hard to get into and win. the first few games are easy than the opposition gets harder, but buy this time you are bored of the game and want to turn it off. this is not the game that we were all promised and only one for all the guys who want to stare at the beautiful women in it. i have given this game a rating of four, this is only because of the graphics and not of the gameplay

The pixle shaded bump maping is even better than that of DOA: 3. The sound is superb, if you play the game for long enough with the voices on you just might stat to pick up some japanise. The gameplay is simple but not so simple that you willquit from bordom after a week. The music is fitting the only thing is some of the music sucks ex:Christina Agulara. I think the M rating is a bit harsh, so you see about 2 seconds of a shodow covered boob not even long enough to get excited about. Bottom line this is the greatest sports game ever made. If you find yourself trying to figureout if you should buy DOA:XBV or outlaw vollyballmy simple solution is buy both because they will both be a different experience. But if you don't want any dudes interupting the fantacys running through your head than don't buy Outlaw Vollyball.

The game play is fun, the casino is a added bonus, the detail is AMAZING, they have damn near matched a human exactly and sometimes you find yourself pondering whether this game is fake or not. One thing I do wish you could do is have any area where you can just stand there, say in your hotel and model what your wearing, its hard to get a good clean clear view without wasting time in the game. I dont like how it is 14 days only even though you do continue with the same objects, I just think there should be MORE to it. Thought quite the anticipation, from the previews, demo videos and what not, I expected more interaction, more girl to girl flirting like in all the videos, but you cannot do that. Overall though, this is a great game, its fun and entertaining, x box has created another classic.

The gameplay is ok, but if you lose a partner it is a big pain to get a new one and getting to play no volleyball in a volleyball simulation game is just plain dumb. if there was not a pantner deal, 10/10, if there was a nude mode with the girls nude, i would give it a 10/10, with out either of those, i will have to give a seven out of 10. thats like a C, right. One article from Tecmo said the game would be very riske but it wouldn't have penetration. They said they weren't striving for an adult or mature rating, that they would accept whatever they got. As far as I'm concerned the hype of games coming out with mature themes or nudity is just a publicity scam to make large numbers go out and buy it. Is there any reason this game shouldn't have had a teen rating. I mean come on. There isn't anything on this game that any kid can't see at the beach or on primetime tv. Chicks in bathing suits. Other than the crock to boost sales, the gameplay is great. Volleyball, gambling, and chicks. The game is fun! Next time let the game sale itself, without the sex hype.

| few flaws my ass | | cev420 from San Jose CA says (26/Jan/2003): | 1st you can controll your team mate w/the right hand analog stick and buttons,as uposed too the left hand analog stick and buttont for yourself. 2nd at the end of 14 days you do not start compleatly over you still keep your money and items you just get the option to pick a different player or stay the same. If you choose to change players that person will have whatever you may have given them as a gift as your previous player. And 3rd you do get to buy more than just bathing suits ,a lot more, you can by acsesories and gifts at the acsesories shop everything from hats and shoes to nailpolish and taning lotion,yes you can even get a tan in this game. Well with the few flaw it ended up NOT having I guess that would make this a great must have game. I rate it a nine only because I'm anticipating halo 2 so very much.

I bought this title and found it worthy of a teen rating. There was nothing objectble about it. The girls are in bikinis, sure some are rather risque, but i have seen worse than that. The dreadful controls during the volleyball games can be very annoying. You beat the game in record time, and there is no story to it! You pick a partner, and you can win the game without playing volleyball! How foolish is that? The gambling casino, and the hopping game are the only mini games available as well. I found this title to be so dull it bored me in minutes! I doubt there will be a sequel. Let DOA remain a fighting title for which it gainded noteriety. Leave the sports to other hands, and continue with the bat downs!

Yes, that is definatly a plus, but there are other aspects to the game that also makes it fun. Despite what I origionally thought, the Volleyball, though limited to two buttons, is actually quite addicting. There is also a casino where gambling fans can make their bets and enjoy themselves.
This game also has a massive amount of items, and the greatest assortment of bathing suits you will probably ever see in your life. The main objective of the game is to get all of the items, and because you have to get these 100s of items for each character, this game will keep you occupied for months.
All in all, this game is a must have for DOA fans.

I dont know y i waited 4 so long 2 get it! The graphics kick butt, the songs kick butt, the casino kicks but, but most of all, the characters kick some major butt, especialy Hitomi, she's 1 hot, sexy 18 year-old whose irrisistably cute. She's my fave character, and i even dream about her sometimes, and thats just plain wierd that i love a game character so much that i dream about it, and shes a fictional character, but as fictional as it gets, i luv her. Kasumi, Ayane, Christie, Tina, and Helena r also really hot, but compared 2 Hitomi, there nothing. Those who get it later, Enjoy it!

| good but not that good | | A gamer from USA says (6/Mar/2005): | i thought the graphics were some of the best on xbox. the actually vollyball play is fun and good but there needs to be more things to do in general and more things to do where u can control what the characters in the game. for example why cant they swim in the pool? pools are made to swim in. bike rides why cant u control where u go. the only time you actually control what the character does in when your playing vollyball. i have not gotten all the items for all the girls yet but it better have something good at the end. there needs to be more items to buy. like rollerblades it shows in the beginning preview of leifang and i think hitomi rollerblading. but overall so far i think it is a fun and addicting game
