Visuals sounds gameplay, simply everything rocks! Most mechwarrior fans are complaining constantly about the fact that you cant customize your mech. Yes, I would like to be able to customize my mech (gauss rifle on a catapult!), but I am also happy that I dont have to deal with it. My major problem is all the little kids playing on LIVE!. The problem is that if you swear, they constantly scream at you about how its potty language. Have you ever dealt with some runt getting his father to tell you why you shouldn't swear around kids? Annoying aint it? If your going to get the game for the kid, make sure you know what its like. I was in a room and the father started with a lecture. Suddenly 7 "F*CK YOU"s came screaming out of the head piece. The kid's father promptly preceeded to drop. Without the underage players the game would be PERFECT. Due to the fact that im happy and haven't seen more than one underage kid on LIVE! in the last 7 days Im gonna give it a 10 out of 10.

This game is really, really, really, really fun. I'm in love with it and I haven't even hooked up my Xbox Live account! A lot of people prabably liked the look of it bcause 99.9% of the invironment was destructible. It's a whole lot more than that.If you have seen that lame Walmart commercial with the two guys obsessed with PS2, take that description and apply it to MechAssault and you'll know what I mean. If you've got it, get suround sound. It's awsome.

This game is a corruption of The original Mech games. I am an avid BattleTech player so it makes it even worse. They have taken a great concept for a game and turned it from a game of finese into a FPS. Seriously, unlimited ammo on gauss rifles?? This game is a mainstreamed excuse for its predecessors.

Personally I think this title is a rent only affair. If you are an advid gamer such as myself you know that graphics can carry a game only so far. As far as gameplay i'm split on this. It's simple and fun to play but 3 weapons....seriously 3? And you aren't even able to change them. The lack of depth in this area alone is enough to make this game a "decent attempt". Have you caught yourself wishing your fav mech didn't have that one useless weapon? The sound delivers a true mech experience right down to the stomp of metal feet. The life span of this game is endless, of course if you have broadband. If not It's rather short and lacks serious one player replay value. So in all i think this was a step in the right direction just not a leap like most intended.

mech assault is absolutely refreshing. until this game came out i had no intention of purchasing an xbox. the graphics are great. just about anything and everything can be destroyed. i LOVE big things so Atlas, Prometheus, Ragnarok and Ymir are my favorites. nevertheless, a true mech warrior can blow any of them away with Timberwolf. here is my criticism. there are no $#< remove me > at !pit views. weaponry and choice of missions are extremely limited. guages and meters should be made more like the old computer versions. i think a mech should be blown helpless, unable to fire any weaponry or move like on the computer version. you should be able to target specific areas of an opponent. legs, arms and torso should be able to be destroyed rendering that mech helpless. I would like to see an xbox sequel to this game including these features. i'll buy it!!!

Ok, this is maybe the best game I have. 1, it's the best 'Mech game made. 2, they have the old mechs and some new ones I've never seen before. 3, the graphics kick. But, there are some problems with it. There are not enough weapons in the 'Mechs, there are at least 3 or below. Also, they sould have more cheats for it , like the other 'Mech games. That is all I have to say about it, but besides that this game is very fun to play.

i enjoy the multiplayer on this game alot. but being a mechwarrior, battletech, and RPG fan, i was rather dissapointed. Took me awhile to get used to the view, being stuck with certain weapons totally sucked, and why they gave shields to a mech on multiplayer left me wondering. I also think that the life meter is stupid, they should show your mech's health like the computer games, and showing your opponents the same wouldnt hurt. But even though me and my friends complain alot it is still fun to blow each other to dust,, .

This game has great potential. The graphics are very amazing especially the destrustion. there are two improvements that could make this game a whole lot better. the first is thier has to be better missions. such as more mission playing with more freindly mechsalthough the mission will have to be more intense. the second improvment needed is a way to costomize the mechs. it would mak ethe gam alot better.
PS: no way in hell is it remotely close to as good as HALO

It needs a better story line and better communication and planning between cooperative mechs. Running around and destroying everything in sight is fine for the first 15 minutes, but after that you start feeling like you are some psycho demento with a bone to pick with whatever city you happen to be methodically bombarding. When you stop action just to blow up some mountain or iceberg you know it's time to go mow the lawn.
It has great potential but unlike the "original" Unreal Tournament there lacks the ability to incorporate a thoughtful attack sequence that would include an organized strategy.I would like it if they added a greater variety weapons and an overlook screen where you could get a better idea of where you are located on the battlefield in reference to other players. Apart from that the game is ok.

If this is your first Mech Warrior experience you will love this game; but if you're a die-hard Mech fan like I am you'll find it cut-back at best. Most MW games put you in a Mech Warrior $#< remove me > at !pit; with the abilitys of fire control, customization, and realism. This game provides none of them. Furthermore only the Mad Cat/Dog, Timber Wolf, and Kit Fox survive from the first Mech Warrior board game. Mech Assault, like Battle Tech, is really just a spin off of an orginal game. And the specs for these mechs are just pulled out of someone's ass.
But if you can get passed that you'll have a fun time. This is a great shooter game that provides high-end graphics with the abilities of multiplayer. If you play it, you will have fun.

For all u people saying this betrayed many previous mech games, i somewhat agree, but lets be realistic. we don't have an entire keyboard of controls at our disposal. we have about 10 buttons. you can't get much more than what they put in with that. The campaign seems more like a tutorial than the actual bulk of the game. they based it so the bulk of the game would be online. Although u could arrange it so the game could be customized like the comp ones, but still it would really take the edge off your blade. I think they made a pretty good game even though i have yet to play the online version. Plus, theres 4 difficulties for the campaign. chew on that for a few weeks.

¿NOTE BEFORE THE REVIEW¿Sure the game has a few mistakes like the off-beat story line but if you are a true fan of all Mech games it just doesnt matter......NOW for the review the game has top quality graphics any gamer would love the ai is ultimate on hard dificulty the way they mixed up the game like haveing the ability to lower the heat of your mech by going into water and the fact tht you cant destroy any building tht you want even if it will end a mission is a great quality in games I GIVE THIS GAME A PERFECT 10 OUT OF 10

This has the graphics to rival all games and the tech to defeat Halo. This next gen game is the most advanced i've seen. I spend hours on this game just improving my time. This game may be the best of the best. Definetly the game of the century, if not the new milenium. I was so pleased with this game i didn't play any others for nearly weeks. I wish all games weere this great, there would be no reason to turn the box off. The makers were thinking of aqll areas, these graphics are great, the sound is phenomenal, the gameplay is indescribable and the fun factor's off the chart. If the x box keeps this kind of a game span there will be no comparison what so ever. The gamecube has great games, but this is like nothing else. The quality makes it seem like your in the middle of the game, a huge steel dude going out and blowing the heads of other huge steel dudes, what a life.

The game was fun and since im a new mech gamer, i enjoyed it but i think it could of been totally way better then what the make it to be. First it was short as hell and there were hardly any challenges in the game which totally blows, i liked the game but i rather of used my money for something better then this crap

Wow., Darius, you really didn't look at the full potential in MechAssault. This is by far the most intense and greatest online game I, and so many others, have ever experienced. Yes I agree, single player is a little sketchy with an off beat story-line, but single player is not why this game was created. Xbox Live is where it is at. With stat keeping, playing with your friends, or destroying anyone all over the world is incredibly addicting. maybe you should give this game a little more time before you put your mouth to the reviews. Best. Online. Game. Ever... Personally, I am more addicted to this than Diablo 2 Lod, and that is alot to say.

i just got an xbox and when i got this game i was glad i did. the gameplay and graphics are some of the best i have seen and i have been playing video games for a long time.the plot is kinda bad but the missions and fighting other mechs make this game a challenge in the higher difficulty settings.when i first got it i got stuck on the secong mission.the ragnorok is suposed to be the best mech but i think the atlas is.sure its short but going to xbox live makes it a whole diffrent game.it puts your gaming skills to the test.this is a game for any beginer or any hardcore gamer.

why are so many people giving this 10/10? dont post if u are, because u all know its not even near perfect, be realistic. look how short the game is, thats the most obvious one. ive played most of the mechwarrior games and have the mech commander games. to be realistic...this game is really just a dumbed down limited version of mechwarrior 4. there are hardly any mechs, and the ones they have are all wrong (names/weapons/speeds). the gameplay so small, u can beat it in a day or two. and not being able to customize ur mech? why not?. Why can i pick up armour off destroyed mechs? (like earlier said by someone else, it it way too much of an arcade game like quake) and all u who defend it are acting blindly and u would think differently had u played mech warrior 4 and/or the Mech Assault we really wanted to see. Sure its fun...but its also easily boring, so few multiplay maps, so few vehicles, so few weapons, such limited gameplay.
it honestly does not live up to its name, as much as i liked it.

I have to make a quick note before the review- Mech Assault does seem to have an off story-line and mech descritpions.Whether or not it has flaws in the story compared to the previous games in the series does not matter. It is obvious the series decided to take a new turn and little flaws such as weight or weapon mix-ups should have no effect what so ever. Now, with no further ado,the review. Mechassault is a MUST HAVE for any action gamer.I would like to exclude all pussies who only like FPS's. Mech Assault has great graphics, a nice little story line (which you hardly notice) and excellent gameplay. Your mech is equipped with two or more weapons(depending on which one)to cause mayhem and destruction with.The Mech battles are excellent, but if that's not your bag there's more. You can destroy puny (and annoying) little tanks with your superior arsenal while at the same time squashing the pathetic little infantry squads that do little more than a pixel of damage with your mech. Battle too intense? Ram and damage a few buildings with your mech. Too serious? Spin the mechs torso around on the legs.Pros- Mech Assault gets a 9 of 10 for its heated action and brilliant gameplay.Not only that but the vast selection of mechs at your command. Cons-Multiplayer bots only in one mode and you can't pick the type or number you want.Somewhat easy to beat, and not faithful to previous games (for veterans).
