Very Impressed14233

Krazy Kelso from Kent, OH says (31/Dec/2002):
I can only find two minor flaws in the game. One, the game is very linear. For the most part I found the provided maps worthless because you are forced to head to your assigned target anyway. Usually there is only one route to the target and no possible way to get lost. In the Police Station for instance, I was trying to use the map to see my location and destination and foound that I was forced to go there anyway.

The second problem is Sam's inablility to improvise weapons. I frequently run out of ammo no matter how much I try to conserve (I'm not terribly good at sneaky, or taking snap shots for that matter), and when you are popping in and out of the shadows slapping guards with assault rifles unconsious I begin longing for Ghost Recon or Rainbow Six where you have a substantial weapon and plenty of ammo. At least it would be nice to comandeer weapons from guards who don't need them anymore.

Other than that, a spectacular game. I'd say that Splinter Cell's the first person game is slightly better than Halo (because I like sneaking. It's compleately a subjective oppinion.) But without any multiplayer to speak of I'm not about to sell my copy of the later.

Good but room for improvement14236

Joe from California says (31/Dec/2002):
it's not the gliches that bother me, it's the lack of cheats, i wish they would add some god mode cheat to it and give you some teammates to command, also some freelance training execises wouldn't hurt either not ones guided in the begining.

One Word Incredible!!!14281

Defender from Glendale Wisconsin US says (31/Dec/2002):
Just when I was about to pitch my xbox out the window. Here comes the most stunning game I've ever seen. If someone’s looking to see what the xbox system can do this is your game. Unlike the typical James Bond games where u run into a room and blast everything in site (not like there’s nothing wrong with a game like that it just gets kind of old after a while) Splinter Cell is about stealth. Not only does it look good, but it acts like in real life too. You shoot a stunner in water with a group of guards standing in it they all fall to their knees. I don't know how many of you heard of the game traitors gate, but it's very close to it. This is one of those games that u must think before u act. As for them making a sequel after they see how much people love this game (this forum for example) I'm 100% sure they'll make a sequel.

Splinter Cell Sneaks up on the Competition14317

Josh Schafernak from Mundelien, ILL., USA says (31/Dec/2002):
I, (as well as many others,) had high exspectations for this game. It is definately one of the top graphically advanced games ever made. (as a matter a fact all the models were made by hand to increase lifelikeness.) But does this game live up to its hype? I think so!! The lighting effects are flawless. You will find yourself shooting out lights to sneak through a room, to get behind an enemy undetected and knock him out. Another plus is the good voiceovers. When you have the Tom Clancy Logo on something the plot better be good. I like the effective abilities, and just the game play itself. There are many special features, and you can download more levels on Xbox live. This is very entertaining, but it needs some touch ups in a few key areas.
The only problem with the game, is headshots dont always connect, and some linear gameplay. Also their isn't enough ammo to go around. They should take a lesson from the Upcoming Zelda game for gamecube and allow you to take the enemys wepons. And finally, I love this game, but don't exspect it to blow the already exsisting Metal Gear Solid Game series.

La Bomba14167

Camille from Montreal, Quebec says (30/Dec/2002):
I found one problem in my cd, a bug of somesort, in the CIA HQ I can't get passed the hallway behind the support battery room, without trigering an alarm, which finishes my mission, making it impossible for me to continue my game, please help me, tell me if its me or the cd! but the game itself is very good, very smooth, challenging, but very very fun, if you liked metal gear solid youl love this game

Its good but can be better..........14220

Ryan from usa says (30/Dec/2002):
Splinter cell is good i'll give u that but seriously u get like 40 bullets for like 4 levels and when u kill the guards u get nothing from them. Also the alarms go off unless u hide, every single guard u killed and put them in the shadow or dark place. Lets just say that halo is a little better..........

What the?13944

Killa K from FayetteNam says (29/Dec/2002):
I don't see why everyone is complaining about it taking 20 hits or so to take out guards and lights. It takes me 1 shot on lights, and 1 shot on guards. You people just need to practice your skills and make some headshots. If you didn't know already, when zoomed in with the SC-20K you can hold the left trigger for Sam to hold his breath and give you a better shot. I think that this is the most realistic game I have ever played and it sounds like most of you that are complaining, are complaining about it being a challenge.

STUNINGLY HARD GAME and a few gliches to make it easier!13967

Jambo from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia says (29/Dec/2002):
Splinter cell is a super hard game and not many ppls i know have beat it yet (I know a lot of peeps and im not a loner). Here are some tips: 1 many hard spots have checks near 2 sometimes if you can not pass it in stealth then use brute force (my favorite stlye)I have passed many areas by running strait at enemys and then hiding in the shadows. 3 If there is a gard right next to you and he is on alert. try not to fiddle with ur night vision because they can hear the charging noise when u first turn it on.

So far i have noticed 1 Glich: Cia HQ: When trying to get past the coridor with the civic moving from the keypad to the closet here is 1 glich. If u get caught and an alarm goes off run into the closet and turn off the light. A gard will cum in and try to turn on the light! here is were he gets stuck then take him out.

i think this game is excellent but a little bit 2 hard when ur 2 metres from a save point and u die!!!

The game they coudn't hide.13972

Matthew Grint 'Krastor' from Kent,England says (29/Dec/2002):
Although this game is about stealh,it's release was hardly hidden, this game was wanted months before it was out, imgaine all the lists to santa with Splinter Cell on. I love this game, despite it's technical flaws, yhe gameplay is enjoyable and exciting, if one thing could be improved, it would be the range of weaponry availably, you cannot pick up weapons off dead guards, okay, maybe they want you to use the proper stealth gun, that you should use, you cannot pick up ammo off dead guards, okay, most likely it's the wrong type of ammo, but the fact that you don't have a knife? What is more stealthy than a knife? what is more silent and deadly, what is an agent without a melee weapon? surely it's stealthy to snaek up behind someone and slit their throat. In reply to the review which says you cant attack people without ammo, you can, go up to them and press right trigger to hit them, or 'a' and then right trigger, they both work. Overall i like this game, and i hope there is a sequel which improves on thios main fault. Thank you for reading this, if you did, most likely you just read the first few words, didn't you, didn't you! C ya!

About the Ending and more13985

Pedro from Ventura, Ca says (29/Dec/2002):
I've heard (read) several people complain about the ending, but think about it... if there are going to be more levels to d/l how can it end now. It must go on.
As far as the rest of the game goes, I like it. Yea there are a couple of annoying things. I'd like to be able to pick up ammo from the people I kill. I sure would in real life. Accuracy of Sam's Firearms could be vastly improved. Shooting out lights can be a real pain in the ass. Sometimes it takes 1 shot others times it takes 7 or 8, even if you are absolutly sure you are aiming in the same place. Clipping could be improved but it is not really annoying when someones arm drifts through a wall just not realistic. All in all I have to rate Splinter cell high. I much prefer a stealth game to one where all you have to do is go in with guns blazin and kill everything in sight. You have to think a little more and that is the challenge.

Splinter Cell is kick Booooo-Taaaaaay13996

Big Bad Booty Daddy from Edwardsburg, Michigan says (29/Dec/2002):
Tom Clancy did it again! It's sensational. I thought that Rogue Spear was the best. But Splinter Cell is 1,000 X infinity beter. It's like you're in the game. You have to be swift, stealth, and smart to compleate the awsome graphic, challenging, realistic games. I can't seam to get past the CIA level, but it is the best game ever made. I recremend this game to any one that loves action,is smart in combat, and is swift and stealth.

This game rocks14058

A gamer from USA says (29/Dec/2002):
This game is the best. It was the first gmae I got for Xbox but I have have played many others and this stands out the most.It has awesome graphics, great storyline and nice gear. I admit it is pretty hard. Usually the alarms go off every second, but thatss just a skill I need to work on. Also this is like real life. In most shooting/action games the bodies just disappear and are forgotten. In real life they aren't going to disappear and people ARE going to find them. Thats what I like about this game, its realistic.Last the moves and techniques are cool, cutting edge and are fun to use. You have to buy this game.

Kris you need skills14064

Nick from Denver CO Usa says (29/Dec/2002):
This is to Kris who says that it takes him 4 or 5 shots in the head to kill a guard I go fro the neck and it takes me 1 and when you said I cant get a guard without his buddies noticing I just started playing this game christmas so If you think its hard then maybe you shouldnt play it because it takes me 1 shot and I can easily get out of a room full of guards holding one guard hostage without them seeing me............so my advice is keep trying or stop playing.

Splinter cell is tough and fun!13909

johnfoo2 from traverse city, MI USA says (28/Dec/2002):
this game would be a excellent edition to anyone that is smart and can figure out puzzles and challanges. It was a very well put together game with no glitches when i played and demanded a lot of thought. It lacked the gunfire and killing some people like and are looking for in a game but that is not the concept with Splinter Cell, in Splinter Cell u have to use stealth more than anything else and that is one of the reasons i like it. Their is plenty of gadgets to use such as the sticky camera which is a miniature camera which can be shot into a wall with a multipurpose launcher called a SC-20k. their are plenty others like the optic cable which is a flexible camera which can be slipped under doors to see what is on the other side. you can also distract opponents away from you with pop cans and glass bottles. the basic plan of this game is that you are sam fisher a third echelon field operative (which is like a spy for the CIA) and you most go on all sorts of missions to behold the peace in the world. i gave this game a 9 out of 10 because you run out of ammo too much on some missions and the camera angles are troublesome in tight spaces.

Oh, Jesus Christ on a freakin boat!13932

Bill Fentiman from Australia says (28/Dec/2002):
Listen up everybody.... this guy here is the worst game critic ever.... First of all, the reason that Sam's night vision goggles glow is so that people have something to recognize him by, and any person who truly played this game to the max will notice that in the main menu there is a special features section that has an interview of one of the main game designers. In this interview the man says that the goggles are for people to recognize.... just like when people see batman's pointy ears they think Ah, it's Batman! Second, there bloody well is blood you freakin freak, and it stands out like a sore thumb! Third, Sam's pistol and SC-20K aren't meant to be too powerful, as if they are, they would make to big a sound and attract too much attention. Fourth, People don't SEE Sam through walls, they HEAR him. And as for the way bodies go through walls, this is merely a minor glitch that can easily be improved on in Splinter Cell 2 (Hopefully). And Fifth, Halo is is not better than Splinter Cell as Splinter Cell is not better than Halo. They are two completely different types of game and you just can't compare them. One game that you could compare Splinter Cell to, however, is Metal Gear Solid 2. My god.... Splinter Cell makes Metal Gear Solid 2 look as though it came from the Stone age.... not to mention that in MGS2, you can tell what your enemies are thinking, as when you attract too much attention, they have a bloody great question mark above their heads. Finally, SPLINTER CELL ROCKS, YOU CLAUD!!!!!

A nearly perfect gaming experience.13689

Alex James from New York, USA & London, England says (27/Dec/2002):
I bought this game three days ago, on Christmas Eve, and I've just completed it - WOW. This game rocks, it really does. The levels aren't really that much bigger than a lot of other large modern games, but some clever design has made this game feel HUGE! The graphics, the movements, the interaction with your environment all come together to make this the most realistic and compelling experience of this gamers life. There were one or two annoying little things about the control interface for me though. For example, when climbing a ladder, it is sometimes a bit hit-and-miss when jumping off to get hold an adjacent ledge or wall - when you miss and drop you often alert a guard. Also, when double jumping off a wall, it is nearly impossible to predict which direction you will jump off it!. That said, this game raises the bar and sets a new standard for every stealth/shooter to follow. Every detail of this game is fantastic - there's a little news flash segment on one of the news cut-screens that flags up a Rayman movie (same developers as Splinter Cell) and another that says "Caulkin (of Home Alone fame) tipped for Oscar?". All of this is combined with a truly hard difficultly setting that requires careful planning, even on the Normal setting, and the final product is one of the most tense, exciting, excruciating, boring, thrilling and rewarding experiences you can have outside of a real-life mission. Buy it, try it, love it...

Splinter Cell13746

Janos from uk says (27/Dec/2002):
Guys yurr forgetting mgs2 was a little more.......towards the fact u could go rambo a little in the game. Just got Splinter Cell 2 days ago...tis a good game..wouldnt go as far as saying its the best game on the xbox and it kicks the sh*t outta mg2 and halo..both are excellent games just splinter cell is more towards less of the gun more of the mind. mgs2 mixture of the both and halo isnt even a spy game so u cant compare them....only thing in-common is that they are on the xbox. This a hard game at times but just gotta use yurr head and remember those bodies dont hide themselves ;) unless theres something i wasnt told :S. Think yurr way out of a situation leaving yurr weapon as a LAST RESORT ONLY!... guard comes nice and close knock him out or distract em with objects...thats what they are there 4. And if all else fails....lob yurr controller at the wall....works for me, releases alot of pent up stress
