Booya grandma! |
| Aaron from St.Catharines, Canada says (2/Dec/2002): |
Splinter cell dominates any spy game Ive ever played even though it can get really hard at times, but isnt it about time video games should get more challenging.....let me tell ya this is it! The gameplay is the best part about this game, everything is so real... guards see your shadow, even help out the guys you pistol whipped, they can hear you, notice the mess you left. This is actually the first stealth game ive ever seen when the guards actually have some common sense. I give this game 10/10 and get off your lazy butt and buy the game!!!!!!!.....or at least rent it!

One hell of a game. The best I've played thus far |
| Chris Griffiths from Denver, USA says (2/Dec/2002): |
What a great game. I went straight home and played it after purchasing it and love it! The movement, sounds, graphics and gameplay have no equal in any other xbox game I've played. Though Hitman 2 was good this blows it away.... add this one to your Christmas list, you'll wanna play it.
|
Absolutely the best game ever made ... |
| Ron from NY USA says (2/Dec/2002): |
Graphics are to die for. You aren't pampered like you are with MGS. No radar. Limited... very limited ammo. Excellent effects, especially the lighting are so good. You have to be patient and not just barge in. It's a great game of patience and strategy. The AI isn't the best, but the guards are super sensitive.

Goodbye MGS |
| Michael C. from Troy, Ohio says (1/Dec/2002): |
Brilliant game full of strategy and stealth, though I am a die Hard RPG fan I bought this game. And I have no regrets, it has graphics that just enthralled me, the shadowing is brilliant. I rated this game the same way I would rate an extraordinary RPG. I thought Suikoden 3 for PS2 was the greatest game of the year and this game though a different Genre puts it to shame. Sony had better do something if they don't want to lose in sales.

This Game is Awesome! |
| Darren McInerney from Santa Cruz and Marin, California says (30/Nov/2002): |
GRAPHICS: The shadows and lighting are amazing, very high-res throughout the entire game (very sharp). All player and Non-Playable Character (NPC) models are perfect. Muzzle flashes (the explosion/fire that comes out of the gun barrel) and explosion are realistic and are also actually 3D. No laziness in animation (ex. the clip/magazine comes out of the gun when Sam or a NPC reloads, wheels on cars spin, NPC's guns have shell casings). Only thing inperfect is jaginess which is still superb, and is in every game anyways.
GAMEPLAY: This is wheere SC really shines. Perfect attention to detail. Not another baby tested game like Counter-Strike (which is still an awesome game). Limitless (three pages) of moves. Far better than MGS. (ex. Rappeling down walls and shooting into windows like a hitman or asassin, just like in the movies. Climb any poles, ladders, that stuff vines grow on, fences etc. Grab ledges instead of just falling down. Sneak up on people, grab them, and either interogate them for info, knock them out with your 5-7 pistol, or use them as human shields. You can hug walls, peak around corners and shoot. You have night and thermal vision (heat detection) instead of just a flashlight. And you can also throw cans and bottles to distract guards. You can hide in shaddows and cast your own on you. Shoot out lights, use any computer. Your SC-20k is awesome. Bullpup Assault rifle with a multi-purpose launcher (like m203), silencer and scope, wich allows you to snipe, shoot out reconasaince cams, these diversion cameraws which whistle and then when a guard is near you can put them to sleep with gas. You have a laser mic, a camera you can put under doors, a camera jammer, gas grenades, stun thingys etc. You also have a lockpick) AND MUCH MORE. Only drawback is it is sometimes extremely frustratingly hard.
SOUND: Did they buy real-steel guns and record what sounds they make? I think so. Music is well-fiting to scenarios (suspensefull when a guard thinks he saw something, Fast paced when you are detected, and slow paced when you are stealth.) All sound effects are varried and perfect, no two guns make the same sound. No laziness in sound, car sounds, alarms, foot steps, explosions, creaky floors, reloading etc.
FUN FACTOR: 10/10
LIFESPAN: I finished Halo in 6 hours. I have been playing this for 36 and I'm not done yet. More levels downloadable with Xbox Live.
LAST COMMENTS: Control scheme is great, MGS with more realism and less cheesiness, and a better plot too. I DEFINETELY RECOMEND TO YOU HARDCORE GAMERS LIKE ME WHO WANT A LONGER GAME. ONLY ON XBOX AND PC = NOT PS2's BAD GRAPHICS, 5.1 SOUND IS AWESOME, HDTV IS TOO. Splinter Cell is something that has never been done before. Definetely stealth action re-defined.

Splinter Cell OR Metal Gear Solid |
| Jim S. from beverly,Ma.USA says (28/Nov/2002): |
I have to say that S.P. is better graphically but that they needed to include wall tapping in S.P. and i've found bugs in the game when after saving at a check point opening some doors without a cammera or heat sensitve areas or laser beams the "ALARMS GO OFF" the only way to fix this problem is to start over your mission...No idea why this happens but it does !!! as far as game play it's good.the A.I in the game isn't as true as they could be ..for example when a gaurd is alerted you should still be able to grab him from behind or the side, instead they just spin in 360-degrees of rotation and if your lucky enough that they need a reload then get them with your elbow in the face.I relize that this game is based on much more stealthy action but you should still be able to camacazi your oponents punch em kick em choke them to death.oh yeh when wedged between the right spaces where you are above the enemy you should be able to hang down and choke your enemy as well as jumping down with a two handed smash.with a wire or a rope ...nice huh ?right now i own bolth the PS-2 & the X-Box of the two systems right now I would have to say that the PS-2is the more fun system to play the same games on the X-Box is a little better with the graphics though so for now it's back and forth.

Another perfect score |
| flysupes from Des Moines, IA, USA says (27/Nov/2002): |
I knew the first time I booted up the demo disc that this would be my new favorite game. I hate to be redundant, but I had to give it another perfect 10. I'm not very far into the game yet, but I have to say it is like nothing I've ever seen before. A combination of strategy, skill and careful observation are required to get through. The graphics, as everyoe in this forum has said, are unrivaled, even by Halo. Now if I could just find more time to play!

perfection except.... |
| josiah clarke from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada says (27/Nov/2002): |
but i have notticed that there are a lot of clipping issues with the dead or unconsious bodies and some of the item pick animations are a little sketchy being as the guy glides to the object or the body, and the trail and error can be more than redundent (eg cia level or the place with mines and snipers). all that said the shadow work and lighting effects are the best ever and the stratagy required in this game is like nothing ever seen befor. the ai is way better than some games it is near perfection, although the change in enviroment dection is a little um (how should i put this) crappy. but again a great game

God Like! |
| Paul Robinson from Scarborough, Ontario says (26/Nov/2002): |
I have only enjoyed this game from a demo's point of view but from what i played,it puts MGS to shame. Not that i'm criticising Metal Gear or anything but you just have way more to do and the tools to accompish them. I still remember playing the Metal Gear Solid 2. I never thought anyone would ever replace it. It was soo detailed and the ability to hold up gurads and jack them was amazing, but until i tried it out in SC, well let's just say Raiden has nothing on Sam Fisher. So to everyone who has an xbox and loves espionage just as much as i do, BUY THIS GAME. Your a fool if you don't!
|
Close to perfection!!!@#$ |
| Sam Fisher from Lowell, MA, USA says (25/Nov/2002): |
I just bought SC yesterday, and If I wasn't at work right now.. I'm sure I'd be sucking down some beers and playing this game for hours. I got to play for a bit after I bought it, and .. I must say the graphics are definately the best I've *EVER* seen in a game, I love the way anything soft actually moves depending on how you are interacting with it, ie: curtains move with your body if you walk through them etc. etc.. Its like nothing I've seen, I never write reviews for games but .. this game deserves the time. I'm only on the 2nd mission, and let me tell you.. it wasn't easy getting there even with the strategy guide. The game is very tricky, you definately won't get far just running around trying to shoot every person that you see. Stealth is definately necessary. I have nothing bad to say about this game, other then the loading times are a bit long, and for some reason it seems to lock up on me for awhile in certain parts of the game. Hopefully my XBOX is ok, its too expensive to break! anyways.. GO BUY THIS GAME!!

Pretty frickin good |
| Kevin Blakey from Surrey, B.C. Canada says (25/Nov/2002): |
just got it, man it kicks the sh!t out of syphon filter and metal gear solid. great graphics and gameplay except its a little hard, and i hate the missions were you cant kill anyone those missions rake skills

Best thing ever!!! |
| Jason from MD, USA says (25/Nov/2002): |
I've been waiting for a good game to come out after Halo and finaly its here.... Splinter Cell. I'd say its better compared to Halo, the only thing that I can see that would have made it the best game so far ever would be multiplayer oppions... I would defintily put it at the top of your chirstmas list for this year...
|
GREAT GAME BUT... |
| A gamer from Rijeka, Croatia says (24/Nov/2002): |
As i said, this is a great game, but it has so many bugs. I thing it would be best for the crew that made this game to give some patch write away, because I even sucsseded to jump out of level once. Anyway, this is the best game I have played ever, and it gives everything that I expected...

The Hottest Thing Ever!! |
| Richard Pearl from Princeton, New Jersey says (24/Nov/2002): |
The guy above me is only playing the demo, so ther's nothing to be afriad of with the freezing and all, even if you do there is a 990 day warranty. The game is awesome, especially when you have a human shield and the split jump stance. The moves are awesome and so is the gameplay overall a 10 out of 10. You should get it if you don't have it already.

splinter cell |
| A gamer from uk says (23/Nov/2002): |

Blows Metal Gear Away! |
| OgSixer from Sacramento, USA says (23/Nov/2002): |
I was in a game store in Sacramento looking for Metal Gear 2 for the XBox. I saw some promos for Splinter Cell while looking around. I found Metal Gear 2 and went to go pay for it when the cashier told me that Metal Gear had problems with its graphics, he then told me if I wanted a game like MG2 then I should get SC.
I told him I would and put MG2 back on the shelf, and then asked him if I could get SC now. But to my surprise it wasnt out yet. I waited 5 days then went back to purchase SC. Ever since i bought this game I havent put it down.
The controls are a bit new but I'm catching on quickly. Im at the Oil Rig and keep falling in the water, LOL. But the graphics are like those in the movies. I gave this game a 10 star rating.

It's AWESOME!!!!! ROCKS!! |
| Victor C. from NY, NY says (22/Nov/2002): |
Splinter Cell is "the" game to get this christmas. This game contains one of the best graphics I've seen so far, and trust me I play a lot of videogames myself (I own the GC, PS2, XBox, PC,GBA, and the Sega Dreamcast). If you own a Xbox don't hesitate to get this game as is combines the best shadows and lights so real that you think is very unreal. This game truly maximizes the XBox powerful engine. And if you are a lucky gamer ( like mysefl ) you can play this game in Dolby Surround 5.1 you'll hear amazing effects and you will clearly think and hear the foosteps on your right or left speakers. A truly hardcore gamer has to get this amazing title to expirence on their own. I guarantee that you have never played a game like this before. GO GET IT !!!!! NOW!!!!!!

Ownage |
| A gamer says (22/Nov/2002): |

Best game |
| A gamer from Tucson says (21/Nov/2002): |
This game is literally the best game i have ever played. Everything is right on. I have the whole version too so there is no freezing of any sort, it is as fluid as can be. I like the fact that you can use the shadows to your advantage to hide from the enemies. Shooting out all the lights also helps in this kind of situation. I had halo before this and it doesnt compare. Sometimes I actually think the game is real life the graphics are that good. The levels also seem to be pretty long for the most part so i dont think that will be much of a problem. Getting the opponents to cooperate is also a cool part of the game that adds that little extra to get through a level. you can pretty much use everything around you from the power line to shooting out the lights. You can also drag bodies to corners so you can clean up your trace so no one knows you were even there. Overall i love this game and i dont think i will stop playing it for a very long time. Now i have a different respect for games because the fact that this one is sooooooo good . I will probably never look at video games the same now that i have played this game. That is why i gave this game a 10 if the scale was bigger i would have just picked the biggest number the game is that good.

Best game I've ever played.... |
| Chris from Birmingham,AL says (21/Nov/2002): |
This is definatly the best game I have ever seen/played. There are'nt many more things you could ask for in this game. The levels are long and hard, graphics are the best even produced, gameplay is nice and easy. If you liked Metal Gear Solid, this is the game to get!!! I'm sure some arn't so impressed with all the graphics and gameplay, but if it doesn't impress you maybe the fact that you can download new levels does. So all in all, if you have an Xbox, $50, and a ride, go buy the game!
