A Kick Ass Adrenaline Rush |
| Elias Christou the Great from Melbourne Australia says (5/Sep/2003): |
Splinter cell(XBOX) is an adrenaline rush with all its features, there is not one error in this game, my personal opinion is that it's better then Halo. Halo has the let down of no XBOX live speacialties, whereas in Splinter Cell you can get extras from XBOX live if the current game contents don't satisfy you, but for me, this is the best game on the XBOX. There's only one game of which can match Splinter Cell, Halo 2!

This Game is Awesome! |
| Darren McInerney from Santa Cruz and Marin, California says (30/Nov/2002): |
GRAPHICS: The shadows and lighting are amazing, very high-res throughout the entire game (very sharp). All player and Non-Playable Character (NPC) models are perfect. Muzzle flashes (the explosion/fire that comes out of the gun barrel) and explosion are realistic and are also actually 3D. No laziness in animation (ex. the clip/magazine comes out of the gun when Sam or a NPC reloads, wheels on cars spin, NPC's guns have shell casings). Only thing inperfect is jaginess which is still superb, and is in every game anyways.
GAMEPLAY: This is wheere SC really shines. Perfect attention to detail. Not another baby tested game like Counter-Strike (which is still an awesome game). Limitless (three pages) of moves. Far better than MGS. (ex. Rappeling down walls and shooting into windows like a hitman or asassin, just like in the movies. Climb any poles, ladders, that stuff vines grow on, fences etc. Grab ledges instead of just falling down. Sneak up on people, grab them, and either interogate them for info, knock them out with your 5-7 pistol, or use them as human shields. You can hug walls, peak around corners and shoot. You have night and thermal vision (heat detection) instead of just a flashlight. And you can also throw cans and bottles to distract guards. You can hide in shaddows and cast your own on you. Shoot out lights, use any computer. Your SC-20k is awesome. Bullpup Assault rifle with a multi-purpose launcher (like m203), silencer and scope, wich allows you to snipe, shoot out reconasaince cams, these diversion cameraws which whistle and then when a guard is near you can put them to sleep with gas. You have a laser mic, a camera you can put under doors, a camera jammer, gas grenades, stun thingys etc. You also have a lockpick) AND MUCH MORE. Only drawback is it is sometimes extremely frustratingly hard.
SOUND: Did they buy real-steel guns and record what sounds they make? I think so. Music is well-fiting to scenarios (suspensefull when a guard thinks he saw something, Fast paced when you are detected, and slow paced when you are stealth.) All sound effects are varried and perfect, no two guns make the same sound. No laziness in sound, car sounds, alarms, foot steps, explosions, creaky floors, reloading etc.
FUN FACTOR: 10/10
LIFESPAN: I finished Halo in 6 hours. I have been playing this for 36 and I'm not done yet. More levels downloadable with Xbox Live.
LAST COMMENTS: Control scheme is great, MGS with more realism and less cheesiness, and a better plot too. I DEFINETELY RECOMEND TO YOU HARDCORE GAMERS LIKE ME WHO WANT A LONGER GAME. ONLY ON XBOX AND PC = NOT PS2's BAD GRAPHICS, 5.1 SOUND IS AWESOME, HDTV IS TOO. Splinter Cell is something that has never been done before. Definetely stealth action re-defined.

Go Splinter Cell! |
| Sam Waters from Stockton, England says (31/Oct/2003): |
An awsome game involving stealth and some great action it is awsome great music and game play makes this game one of my favourites i just loved the way i got the guy around the neck with the gun and forced people to quit shooting us so i could slip by a truly awsome game
9/10 Slinter Cell!

AMMO AMMO AMMO, WHAT SHALL WE DO |
| rick smith from north west england says (5/Jan/2003): |
i agree with most of the people that say that there is not enough ammo, however i dont go walking round the town and find a box of bullets on a window ledge or in my works office desk. i think that there should be some more ammo given to you at the start of the level and i also think that maybe sam should carry a knife just to make it a little easier than standing infront of some bloke tryin to knock him out with ure elbow. does anyone agree with me??
|
Brilliant!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |
| OneMadDog from Newcastle - England says (22/Oct/2003): |
Splinter Cell has to be one of the best games ever to be made. From the minute you start playing you are plunged into a game full of puzzles, twist and turns. The reason I like this game is because you have to use your wit and patience if your ever to complete the game. The way you shoot your enemies and interact with them is second to none. It is so adictive and like I said by far one of the best games ever made.
|
I love the voice of Sam Fisher |
| Arthur Seabra from Philadelphia, Pa USA says (6/Dec/2002): |
The game is great. Like everyone agrees the graphics are imaculate. The light and shadow being the key thing for the game the designers and producers really put in time and effort into making it look as realistic as you can without it actually being real. The NPC (non-playeble character's) Ai is the best i've seen yet. An example being in a scenario where I turned off the light in the freezer of some kitchen; right before you have to laser-mic the elevator, after throwing a bottle into the freezer one of the cooks came to investigate and asked why the light was off, he then walks under the light itself and starts investigating the light bulb and such. Another great aspect of this game is the Voice of the Character Sam Fisher played by Michael Ironrock or Ironstone im not sure(he was the bad guy in "Free Willy") His tone of voice is a perfect match for the character. Not too scary and not too whimpy. Just enough to portray Sam's light but dark sense of humor.
Overall this is upthere amongst best games for the newer systems.

Brilliant!!! |
| SpLinterFaN from Canada says (11/Dec/2002): |
Well, for my fellow splinter cell gamers, the reason the alarms are goin off is because the bodies are not being hidden in that right place, COME ON, IF THE GAME IS REALISTIC, THINK REALISTIC!! You cant just hide the bodies in a corner, it's gotta be in the dark, no light at all! I came across this problem to find out it was just not the right place to hide the body!! Splinter Cell is probably the best game xbox or ps2 could ever come out with!! I hope upcoming games turn out like splinter cell did!! Props to the montreal team who put together such a classic!
|
This game rocks! |
| Seb Wallace from England, Berkshire says (26/Dec/2002): |
Even though the missions are difficult with a walkthrough and there are no actual cheats the game is radical. Its soooo realistic, like the lighting effects. I can't wait for the Splinter Cell downloads to come out or (If we're lucky) Splinter Cell 2.
|
challenging but fun! |
| andrew from tewksbury MA says (25/Apr/2003): |
it is an awesome game.i am stuck on the cia headquarters level. it is really hard. you have no gun on that level. the graphics are really good. the only flaws were,if you shoot someone in the head he wont die,you have to hit them in a certain part of the head.also it takes two punches to knock someone out,it takes like 5 shots in the body to kill them.you dont get much ammo but it is a stealth game not run out and shoot like a maniac type of game. it is a hard but fun game. my father likes it to but he doesnt play it much.i used codes but it takes the fun away. i like the earlier levels better.my friend has it on another system and he really likes it to.the people that designed the game did an excellent job on the graphics.i play it on a 60 inch tv and it looks all lifesize.i hope more games will be made like this!
|
It was pretty good |
| G.Fresh from Guelph, Ontario says (2/May/2003): |
this really wasnt a final fantasy game, they made it small because just so you could have the fun of scareing the hell out of things and being able to creep up and grab them just for the fun of it or using human shields and the wall split then dropping and knocking them out. If you think the game was way to short then try different things, like not killing anyone for the whole game, or try not to set off 1 alarm. It's up to you, just dont bring it down until you've tried everything.
|
Not better than Metal Gear Soild |
| Joe Tolle from PA,Lancaster,USA says (2/Jun/2003): |
Metal Gear Soild is the best game. I admitt Splinter Cell is ok but not better than Metal. Ill stand by Metal Gear and only Metal Gear now, and 30 years from now. Metal Gear Soild is the best.I mean Com,on Soild Snake can kill Sam Fisher. Metal Gear rocks!!!
|
This game is truely awesome - buddha!!! from melbourne says a load of crap!! |
| Ritchie from Essex, UK. says (18/Oct/2003): |
The game is superb. I mean. shadow effects, smoke effects, the way the enemy can interact, and the music - fantastic. I recommend that if you've never played this game, that you get your consol plugged into a Surround Sound system and wack up the bass. Turn of the lights, get some food 'cos this is gonna be a long, addictive ride. Hell, it was Splinter Cell which made me go and buy an Xbox. Why ever buddha from Melborne gave such a poor review is hard to understand. As far as a messy "shot 'em up" is concerned this is definatly not it. Unlike many games from the past, this one relies on Stelth. In fact, some levels restrict the use of guns - kill any of the enemy and you're out. Give it a go. The game really is awesome. Come on No.II and well done UBI!

IT KICKS AZZ! |
| A gamer from Mason City, Iowa United States says (28/Oct/2003): |
I have just gotten an X-BOX and splinter cell came with it. So I put it in and started playing. I was playing for more than two hours because it's so addicting. The graphics were great, the play was awesome and I like it even more because it is not the run-of-the-mill every covert-op game. You actually do more than just running around killing people and stealing things, this has got a lot more depth.
|
great game but flawed |
| A gamer from England says (27/Aug/2003): |
This game is great no matter which way you look at it but it is insanely unrealistic, for instance when a guard walks past you and does'mt even notice you a couple of inches away I mean It's his job to search for intruders!Having said that it still remains one of the best games in the past decade.
|
another one of the best games ever. |
| Raziel LaVey from Independence, ky says (10/Sep/2003): |
2 games made this game possible.
1. thief.
2. metal gear solid
if it werent for thief, the whole idea of footsteps, the visibility gem, shooting out lights... all that, probably wouldnt be there, for thief was the first to bring you this. and of course metal gear one of the first tactical/espionage games out there.
put em together, you have one badass game. it shouldve REMAINED on xbox and pc because when i took the time to play it on ps2 i was pretty much insulted by how pathetic it paled in comparison to the other platforms.
anyway... back to splinter cell. as i read thru some of the reviews... yes a knife wouldve been great. as for further in the game, the chinese embassy you see guards with lights on their guns, and i guess after kicking enough georgian ass part of military uniform became night vision goggles, explaining why your not so invisible in shadows later in the game.
lambert offering hints during gameplay... genius idea. not being able to pick up enemy guns? i could care less. when you knock out guards they stay incapacitated until another guard wakes them, and that wont happen if you properly hide the bodies ;).
for those metal gear lovers, this game has everything metal gear was missing. being able to hide up in corridors, dropping down on unsuspecting victims (if the walls are close enough) human shields (the shield should have a health meter, thank you. when you aim at them they shoot YOU and SOMEHOW miss the shield!" not to mention walking around with a human shield in front of enemy soldiers is impossible to do without making the wrong move... since you cant side-step or walk backwards without aiming at other soldiers, thus "dropping your guard"...) not exactly as effective as dead to rights.
otherwise... the game is great. just play it, you might finding yourself writing a rave review when your done...

TO GOOD FOR WORDS |
| Jonathan from Winterset,IA says (29/Sep/2003): |
THIS GAME IS AWESOME!I don't know were to start...first of the graphics are awesome, and its like your actualy there!People breath and guards can hear you if your too loud but the best part is the stealth, this isin't a fighting game you have to LIVE in the shadows it's freaking awesome you can shoot out lights so guards cant see you, put on night vision goggles sneak up on him and...While all this is going on the guard's goin "What the heck was that,is someone there?"IS this not cool people?I guess you could compare it to Metal Gear Solid, but its more of a creep along, hide, and go kill 30 guys game. But it's still cool...
Anyway I guess I should rate it, The sound couldn't be better it sounds like your really just knocked that guy out or thats a real gun shooting. The Graphics are obviously awesome, they really spent alot of time making the game,And the fun factor?
110% this is my favorite game no doubt about it,you can throw pop cans and distract the guards,or turn off the light the person runs to turn it back on but he's lying on the ground before he gets there...;)There's Guarddogs, spotlights,Cameras,Retinal scanners and so much more!
I didin't like the ps2 one too much because they changed the levels and now im wondering "What the heck do I do?"I also like the plot, its like a Classic/Modern Spy movie but your right in it!
If you own an XBOX PS2 OR GAMECUBE GET SPLINTER CELL!
|
THIS GAME IS FREAKIN HARD BUT SO MUCH FREAKIN FUN! |
| Annie from USA says (25/Sep/2004): |
This game rocks. Its really hard but it becomes easy after awhile. it tales a while and thats wut is cool. No 1 wants a game they can beat in 1 day. That takes the fun out of everything and a waste of moolah. A lot of ppl might think i dont know squat cuz im a girl and ppl think that girls dont play video games BUT... i know this game and u should defenently buy it. Or u SUCK monkeys butt!!! You get training so u can get tha hang of it before u do tha missions. I would of had troblue with tha missions but the training helps s lot. And if u still need help u can go to www.slpintercell.com. The game is very very sneaky and u need to stay quiet. If not u get shot and die. OH MY GOODNESS!!! I died sooooo many times even though i am 10% through it. But u learn from your mistakes and the game gets better. This game rocks my socks!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You stay hooked 4 hours cuz its like there r locks on ur eyes 2 the tv.

GOOD LORD |
| Kdiggity from Victoria, BC, Canada says (7/Dec/2002): |
Ok, I bought an Xbox simply for the dvd player so I can watch my movies. I used to play Tom Clanceys "Rainbow Six" like a madman so I decided to give Splinter Cell a shot. GOOD LORD i was hooked like a mofo. I'm so stuck on the CIA building, the main hall is impossible to get across and who knows where you need to go from there. Love the night vision, gives the surroundings a whole different perspective. The story line is amazing but brings back memories of 911. I dont play many games at all simply because they all suck or just lack excitement, but Splinter Cell takes the cake for sure. Any tips on how to get passed the CIA building email me at sproutage< remove me > at hotmail.com

Best damn game I've played ever!!!! |
| Chris Freeman from NEW ORLEANS says (9/Dec/2002): |
Unbelievable graphics and game play. The attention to detail is the key here. In alot of ways like metal gear solid but with much more intricate detail. I can't put it down it's taken presedence over all other electrical devices in my home. My wife will probably kick me out of the house pretty soon. Excellent game flow very precise aiming and the stealth capabilities are amazing. If you enjoy first person shooters this is the one to purchase.(Quickly)
