Great but not Perfect! |
| Ace from Q.C. , Philippines says (7/Jun/2003): |
I like this game so much because the gameplay is very realistic. Even the graphics looks real. However, this game is not perfect. Here are the reasons: 1) The enemies can sometimes see you in the dark which is very frustrating because one way or the other you end up dead. 2) Sam Fisher's targeting accuracy is horrible. I know some people will say that it's more realistic because pistols aren't that accurate but c'mon, he is supposed to be the best in all aspects especially when it comes to weapons. He should have mastered all of his advanced weapons when he was still training to be an agent. Try shooting a light bulb. You are lucky if you can take it out with one shot but most often than not, you'll need 3 or more bullets because even if you target it dead center, you'll still miss it. 3) Sam looks old or is old which is not cool at all. Ever wonder how a gray-haired man can do all those fancy moves. I wish in SC2 you will control a younger agent and the plot is Sam gets captured and you are sent in to save his wrinkled butt. 4) You don't have your handy knife. This is a stealth game and what's stealthier than a knife? Nothing's sweeter in killing your enemies with their backs turned using your killer knife Tenchu style. And if that knife can be thrown to make an instant kill, i'm sure nobody will complain anymore about lack of bullets. Well that's all i can think of. I finished the game and i really enjoyed it. It's tough but it's fun. I definitely recommend it to all.

More Sam Fisher Please..... |
| A gamer from Spokane, USA says (1/Jun/2003): |
When I saw the previews for this game (even before I won a free XBox from Certiport for my Microsoft certification test score), I knew it was a whole new level to the gaming experience - not to mention the graphics - and I had to have it! I'm an adult video game freak, but very selective of what I'll pay $49.99 for. I was not disappointed. First of all, the only thing I didn't like (and I'm on the "Presidential Palace" level), is the fact I had to shoot a dog more than once to kill it. I don't care where it was shot, a dog will go down. Second, the dismissal of dead bodies lying around as, "It must have been nothing," by some guards. I enjoy a good "shoot-em-up" game just like any video-gamer, but more so a strategic game with a story that doesn't take too much of your time to present - but includes just enough to sink your teeth into and loose yourself. Splinter Cell has that and more. The fluidity of Sam Fisher's movements are exquisite, the shadowy rendering a work of art, and the pulsating musical cues add a level of panic and excitement to the already intense atmosphere. As a female... it's nice to finally see a male equivelant to the drool-provoking Laura Croft of Tomb Raider. Not to mention that VOICE! Michael Ironside is almost essential. God forbid they should choose another voice over for Pandora Tomorrow (Splinter Cell 2). He sure made the character come alive.
Lastly, a movie? I could see George Clooney easily in this role... !

Splinter Cell: Best Game Ever!! |
| Ty from Canada says (31/May/2003): |
Splinter Cell by far is the best game on the planet. Great graphics, I am amazed how they had such great drawing skills. The missions are extremely cool. The one thing I think they could of improved on is killing Nikoladze. To bad Sam just had to snipe him. But, I guess that was the only good way to try and kill him after Sam figures out how to get through the mission. CIA Headquarters has great graphics in the level. Light and Shadow are a good thing to include in a game. It makes the game more competitive and much harder. Well, I hope UBI Soft has alot of luck in the future with video games. Keep up the great work guys!!!!

This game blows! |
| SnoopD from Portland, Or. USA says (27/May/2003): |
They touched on some real cool ideas in this one but missed out on alot. The linear game play is boring. The interaction menue is too slow to smoothly interact. The game play is choppy and the choices you have to make are too limited. If they could put together the look and feel of this game with the open end style of Hitman 2 it would have been great. Also the aiming mech. is comleatly screwey. All an all I'd say it's worth renting but not buying. I'm sticking to Ghost Recon!

AWESOME GAME!!! JUST BUY IT ALREADY!!! YOU WONT BE SORRY!!! |
| Sammy Slick from Arizona USA says (27/May/2003): |
Great game! I bought it a month ago and i am still playing it, like every day! This is like, the best game since GTA Vice City.(Yes It Is That Good) It is kinda boring on the first level, but what game isnt, the game gets really good when you get to the third level and you get your SC2K. If you have the money and the chance to buy this game, dont pass it up, it is an awesome game!

Hard at First But Ull Get the Hang of It!! |
| Jonny b from Indy, USA says (19/May/2003): |
Splinter Cell is one of the best games I have ever played. I give it a 10 in every aspect of the game. From graphics, health(how long you live) to the level difficulty. The levels, if you are playing normal aren't too hard or aren't too easy. I would definitely recommend this game to people who love to play eye catching, fast moving, shooting games. I just started playing it but ever since I started I haven't put the controlors down( other than to study for my final exams)! If you have never played this game before you are wrong! It is the best game in the world. Better than the Matrix!

Spliner Cell best game since GTA:VC |
| Justin from Simpsonville, South Carolina says (18/May/2003): |
Splinter Cell took me by storm. I thought it would be another XBOX ripoff but this game is beautiful. The story is good and it takes place in a time that could really happen soon. I liked this game because it makes you feel like a secret agent and it is a better alternative to James Bond games. The graphics are the best ever for the PS2 and the light thing stuns me. Just the seeping quality makes me want to play it more. I rate this game a 10 for many reasons:graphics are stunning
excellent controls(wait, there are too many to count)I have not completed this game because it is challenging. the realism is there, for example in mission 4 when you get into the oil pipe. you cant see that good in night vision because it is sealed and dark. the news breaks can be funny, if you read the blue screen at the bottom. This game is my new "MVP" and i never thought a game would be better that Grand Theft Auto: Vice City. Well, Splinter Cell proved myself and many others wrong. i am glad it came to the ps2. Its a excellent game and deserves game of the year.

great graphics!!!!! great game!!!!!! great story!!!!! buy the damn game |
| solid snake from greenbelt maryland, usa says (18/May/2003): |
I must say, when i first heard of this game, i was preety sure it wasnt among the ranks of MGS2.But after playin even the practice mode, its obvious, MGS2 has work 2 do on the next title. Bsaicly, it has compition. The visual efects are so tite. How the light, blends in 2 the shades. I heard as some one on here said it really makes you think, is very very true, as i also agreed that idiots who dont wanna use da brain, would porbably not bye it
Who wants a game that takes nothing 2 think about. This game actually pulls u in the game. All i have 2 say is, its either SAM FISHER, or me, SOLID SNAKE.And if your not 2 have either of these games in your position, we need 2 come and take u out.

BUY THE F UCKING GAME!!! |
| Luke from Jacksonville,Illinois,USA says (10/May/2003): |
This game is really great. Sneaking around, killing people, it fits all people's interest on a shooter(if this is one). If u like to shoot people, then shoot away. If u want the stealth approach, which i prefer, then just jump on a game and break his neck. I recommend this game highly. 9/10. It goes to all Next GEN systems so u have no excuse.

Sam and Steady Wins the Race |
| Lewk Buttigieg from Sydney Australia says (5/May/2003): |
To a beginners eyes, Splinter Cell is like a tasty treat that you cant get out of the wrapper. The graphics are beutiully in place and the scenery/environments are more than fitting. In a first glance the game looks to be something that spy fanatics have always dreamt of. Then comes the controls. These things take some mastering, with a million different combinations to all of the buttons on the gamepad. It takes a while but being patient is the name of the game. If you're patient with the controls then you will take control soon enough. This game rates very high with all things considered. Firstly are the pros. The character designs and movements. Interactions with objects in the game is amazing. The way Sam climbs up poles and ladders looks amazing stunning. What adds to this amazing feat is the fact that NO motion capture was used throughout the making of the game. All animations were key framed, thus making it unbelievable that Sam moves so realistically and fluent. The ambience and sound effects are brilliant. It all sets the atmosphere to just the right mood. With a subtle hint with the changing background music, you can get an idea of what is going on around you. If the music is calm, then you can relax, however it wont be long before the beat moves up a notch. The levels are long and interesting which is something gamers look for. Something to keep you interested and not be over too fast. The game gives you a real sense of being in the situation. It takes away the typical arcade event of just running with guns blazing, and replaces it with a paced slow and precise way of handling enemies. Definately a game for the patient and observative types. Now onto the cons. Length and replayability. The games length let it down a lot. While it was good that i finished it before i got sick of it, however i finnished it so quick that i didnt get enough of it and there was nothing left to satisfy. Left with a completed saved game in one player and no special modes at the end of the game. No two player game in sight or anything slightly extra, except for the interviews with Sam that were there in the beginning. For example, Metal Gear Solid. A game where i struggle to fault. Long game, strong story and replayability to the max. If there were a few things i would change about Splinter Cell to put in a possible sequel, it would be to add a two player game, whatever the situation. And/or add forks in the storyline, by giving you a choice that if you do something one time you have the chance to do it differently the next time you play, each with a different out come. Things like that really excelerate a games playability. I hope you enjoy Splinter Cell and much as I did.

Solid Who? |
| Jason from Largo, FL says (4/May/2003): |
When ubisoft was teasing all of us with this one I to fell into the "OH WOW!! check out the lighting effects" group not knowing what else to expect. When the day got here and it was released I was floored by the presentation but I noticed a small problem, why couldn't you skip the in game cinimatics? I didn't need to see all of the story over and over again every time I screwed up. Now I'm not saying this is the only problem I found but I do find some of the missions a bit frustraiting but after being pulled from the mission in the CIA HQ a few times I realised it was my fault and not the games. You just need to think a few moves ahead and look around for an opening instead of going in guns a blazin'. It is a slow paced game for the most part and it's not for everyone but if you can work your way through it, it is well worth the effort if you can't then go back and play with solid snake.

Awesome |
| Sam Fisher from Toronto, Ontario says (4/May/2003): |
This game makes you think which is probably why some idiots don't like it (Like Doc Hollywood from Cincinnati). They want the brainless shoot-em-ups. This is all about strategy and it's about time someone made a realistic game which doesn' t insult the user. I finished the game, now I go back and try to be daring on different levels. It's funny to hear Lambert freak out whenever you kill someone you aren't supposed to kill. I'm glad there aren't any cheats for this game because that would just take away from the fun of it all. This is, without a doubt, the best value in video gaming out there on the market.
|
It was pretty good |
| G.Fresh from Guelph, Ontario says (2/May/2003): |
this really wasnt a final fantasy game, they made it small because just so you could have the fun of scareing the hell out of things and being able to creep up and grab them just for the fun of it or using human shields and the wall split then dropping and knocking them out. If you think the game was way to short then try different things, like not killing anyone for the whole game, or try not to set off 1 alarm. It's up to you, just dont bring it down until you've tried everything.

The best game i have ever played |
| A gamer says (29/Apr/2003): |
for once this is a great game. one can do everything. the only problem is that one can not steal bullets from enemies that u have killed or take their guns. except that a perfect game. it is amazing how one can do so much and how sneaking is the main part and not killing anyone u see.
|
What a great game |
| Mike from Essex , UK says (27/Apr/2003): |
Wow! not much action in the firt level, but after that it just blows you away. What a great game, great graphics, great storyline, very realistic and just an all round nail biting game. Those who say this game is crap have no skill in this game and probably cant get to level 3 where you get the great SC-20 gun. If you have £35 in your pocket, go get this game, you wont be dissapointed.

One of the best game I've played |
| A gamer from Guilford , Connecticut says (26/Apr/2003): |
Although there are a few levels that are really hard, but other than that it's a very good game with absolutely stunning graphics! I also like how you can use one of the enemies as a human sheild and then fire while holding him. If antbody reads this who hasn't bought it yet, get some money and do so because, other than Halo, I'd say this is the best game on Xbox
