Holy crap! |
| Simon from stockholm, Sweden says (2/Mar/2003): |
This game is going to be in the history books!.
I could'nt believe what I were seeing when I saw the guy that gave it a 1. He must be joking, how can anyone not like this game?
There really is very few bad things about Splinter cell, I wish there will be a second one.
The lightning effects are stunning, and the sound! Man, the sound is awesome. The first mission, the practise is really showing you how to control the character. There is no training in firearms, but it's pretty obvious how to use them.
This game kicks Metal gear solids ass! big time!
The ONLY bad thing is that the missions are not different every time you play. There is only one way to finish the missions, so there is a very small amount of player creativity.
But don't let that bother you.
There are so many goods things about this game, so it worth buying an X-box if you don't have one already.
This will make you sit in front of your tv for hours.
three final words: BUY THIS GAME!

Even Better than Tenchu?! |
| Seiryu from Louisville, KY, USA says (21/Apr/2003): |
When I played this game for the first time I was blown away! The graphics are some of the best to ever grace a system and the game has one of he coolest video game characters ever: Sam Fischer. The music for the game really sets the mood too. I'm glad that they make you use your gun as a last resort by not giving you enough ammo to just shoot everybody you come across. The shadows in the game are amazing; sometimes you'll just sit there and stare at the shadowing effects (no seriously, you will!) This game is so realistic that after playing it you will look at a building and say "I could climb that" it's just that realistic. My only complaints are the lack of hand-to-hand moves and the trail and error approach that you must take to the game. You will probably die many times the first time you go through a level but thankfully three are many save points in each level. All in all, this is a must buy for anyone who loved the Metal Gear and Tenchu games.

Excellent Game |
| John Doe from Boston says (12/Dec/2002): |
For all of you nit wits out there who can't seem to figure out how this game is played, your stupid and impatient. This game requires persistence and alot of time. Splinter cell has the best graphics of any game out for PC or XBOX and is by far the most eloborate RPG made to date, so for those of you who are still stuck on the short, stupid game with a bad story line called HALO get a life. Halo came out what last year, how many fu#$%&* times can you play that game. I got bored of it after I beat it the twelfth time in the first week I owned it. Splinter cell has me going on 3 days straight and I still haven't beeten it, and after im done I can get more levels on line. Oh and by the way if glitches arise while playing the game it is probably because you forgot to hide a body, or maybe you don't take care of your XBOX. But anyway for those of you who enjoy truly good gaming experiences and a good story line Splinter Cell is by far and away the game for you.

Elite and groundbreaking |
| A gamer from Delray Beach, FL says (7/Mar/2003): |
Just amazing - Im on mission 8 and it gets better and better. For those who vote it down because you "dont get enough ammo" you have COMPLETELY missed the point of the game. Be realistic - if you were infiltrating the CIA Headquarters, QUIETLY, would you do so guns blazing? Go play Unreal Championship if you want enough ammo. Your brain is simply too small to understand the nuance, the direction, the scope of this game. That being said, I DO have a few points to pick at - not saving where you like sucks, I wish you could put on a soldier's uniform after you knock him out, the controls get really kludgy in heat of battle (the end of the hostage scene took me an hour cause I kept wanting to switch weapons faster than they could run and I died over and over and over lol). The dialogue is dead on, the cinematography is amazing, and the story line is flawless. Throw in DLs in the near future and I'll be handing this one down to my grandkids.

This game is like the energizer bunny.. keeps going, and going |
| lance from las vegas, nv. usa says (5/Dec/2002): |
I finished Halo in one sitting (about 8 hours). The Hitman 2 in about 6 hours. I've been playing for about 3 hours a day for the past week or so. I'm not even half way there, I'm still stuck in the CIA building. It as close to being a spy as you're going to get. I'm a firefighter and on our "downtime" (when its slow) we play this and make bets about how fast the person playing is going to get caught or killed. One of the previous reviews that someone wrote said that they found a flaw with the game (when they opened the doors and the alarms went off). The game isn't at fault but the player. The reason why the alarms went off is because you didn't hide the bodies in the shadows like you're suppose to. If you look at the top left corner of the screen it will tell you when you get caught why the alarm is going off. So no flaws with this game. Deffinitely worth the 50 bucks and the wait. I can't believe its not out on the PS2. What a lose!

STUNINGLY HARD GAME and a few gliches to make it easier! |
| Jambo from Brisbane, Queensland, Australia says (29/Dec/2002): |
Splinter cell is a super hard game and not many ppls i know have beat it yet (I know a lot of peeps and im not a loner). Here are some tips: 1 many hard spots have checks near 2 sometimes if you can not pass it in stealth then use brute force (my favorite stlye)I have passed many areas by running strait at enemys and then hiding in the shadows. 3 If there is a gard right next to you and he is on alert. try not to fiddle with ur night vision because they can hear the charging noise when u first turn it on.
So far i have noticed 1 Glich: Cia HQ: When trying to get past the coridor with the civic moving from the keypad to the closet here is 1 glich. If u get caught and an alarm goes off run into the closet and turn off the light. A gard will cum in and try to turn on the light! here is were he gets stuck then take him out.
i think this game is excellent but a little bit 2 hard when ur 2 metres from a save point and u die!!!

this game is awsome |
| denis from illinois usa says (25/Feb/2004): |
i got this game as my last choice at gamestop i thought it would be a bad game because it was cheap. but after i played the game i thought it was great it is really awsome that you can jump up on walls do split jumps and grab people and make them say all the crap you need to know. if you dont have this game i strongly suggest that you buy it immediatly so go to any store that sells this game. i also suggest that u should buy hitman 2 and hitman they are alike splinter cell you can pick locks in a faster way so go out and buy one of these games today a good game is a good game.also if you want some more action play metal gear solid the twin snakes. some other good games are oo7 games they are very interesting you can also use mines and claws to get from building to building.go to g a m e s t o p and g e t y o u r copy o f the greatest game i n t h e world! my favorite part about this game is the gadjets

Splinter Cell |
| Janos from uk says (27/Dec/2002): |
Guys yurr forgetting mgs2 was a little more.......towards the fact u could go rambo a little in the game. Just got Splinter Cell 2 days ago...tis a good game..wouldnt go as far as saying its the best game on the xbox and it kicks the sh*t outta mg2 and halo..both are excellent games just splinter cell is more towards less of the gun more of the mind. mgs2 mixture of the both and halo isnt even a spy game so u cant compare them....only thing in-common is that they are on the xbox. This a hard game at times but just gotta use yurr head and remember those bodies dont hide themselves ;) unless theres something i wasnt told :S. Think yurr way out of a situation leaving yurr weapon as a LAST RESORT ONLY!... guard comes nice and close knock him out or distract em with objects...thats what they are there 4. And if all else fails....lob yurr controller at the wall....works for me, releases alot of pent up stress

THAT'S WHAT I'M TALKIN' ABOUT! |
| A gamer from Quebec, Canada says (25/Jan/2003): |
Man, this game just rocks! I showed it to some people who didn't believe in XBOX (one of em' bought a PS2 2 months ago, and now regrets it)and they now own or will own one! 3 of my friends came over, made popcorn and watched me playing!(seeing it for the first time) Hard to believe watching someone playing a video game would be entertaining (of course, I had them try it out too.) This is by far the best game ever. Yeah sure, a few details were off i.e: people don't see you even thought you got 3 glowing lights on your forehead & sometimes, when you put bodies down, theirs heads go through the wall. But whatever, the graphics are so good and the game is so "well-thought-out" that it makes up for it. Oh yeah, for those who think that "there's not enough bullets" then I guess you should clarify the word "stealth" and practice a little more. I hope Microsoft and Clancy are going to make a sequel for it.

About the Ending and more |
| Pedro from Ventura, Ca says (29/Dec/2002): |
I've heard (read) several people complain about the ending, but think about it... if there are going to be more levels to d/l how can it end now. It must go on.
As far as the rest of the game goes, I like it. Yea there are a couple of annoying things. I'd like to be able to pick up ammo from the people I kill. I sure would in real life. Accuracy of Sam's Firearms could be vastly improved. Shooting out lights can be a real pain in the ass. Sometimes it takes 1 shot others times it takes 7 or 8, even if you are absolutly sure you are aiming in the same place. Clipping could be improved but it is not really annoying when someones arm drifts through a wall just not realistic. All in all I have to rate Splinter cell high. I much prefer a stealth game to one where all you have to do is go in with guns blazin and kill everything in sight. You have to think a little more and that is the challenge.

Solid Who? |
| Jason from Largo, FL says (4/May/2003): |
When ubisoft was teasing all of us with this one I to fell into the "OH WOW!! check out the lighting effects" group not knowing what else to expect. When the day got here and it was released I was floored by the presentation but I noticed a small problem, why couldn't you skip the in game cinimatics? I didn't need to see all of the story over and over again every time I screwed up. Now I'm not saying this is the only problem I found but I do find some of the missions a bit frustraiting but after being pulled from the mission in the CIA HQ a few times I realised it was my fault and not the games. You just need to think a few moves ahead and look around for an opening instead of going in guns a blazin'. It is a slow paced game for the most part and it's not for everyone but if you can work your way through it, it is well worth the effort if you can't then go back and play with solid snake.

Refined/Challenging |
| Greg from Boulder, Colorado says (6/Dec/2002): |
There's an element of reality to this game that I've not seen before. Sound plays a big role so anything you do to create noise comes into play. What I like best is the fact that you have to consider all aspects of your envionment and the gadgets you possess before moving forward. Without careful consideration and planning you're just not going to make it. I read that the game is too challenging. Since we're talking a computer game we know there's a solution to each situation, you just have to find it. I guess real life is the similiar, but there's no guarantee a solution exists.
Graphics are pretty sweet but they're not the main factor behind what makes this game so good. It's the total package combined to make this a comprehensive gaming experience.
Thanks to the brains at Ubi Soft for being able to conjure up and deliver this one.
Overall it's a great buy. Have fun!

My point of view.. |
| Mark.F from USA. Austin.Tx says (6/Feb/2003): |
This game is truly amazing. They really had to work hard to find out the insight on missions like it because it is pretty close to it..I seen these other things about halo and this game saying it was better.. You got to think about it Halo is a diffrent type of game then this. (with a very good story line I might add listen to the missions replay it if you belive its story line was bad..) Ok back to this. This game had alot of real life spots and action.. I would say from my gaming point of view this game ranks very high.. Graphics sounds gun's lay out and story line.. I say good job microsoft for making x box because its like a mini pc right there. If you haven't played this game yet I say watch a demo of it.. And if that doesn't change your mind about buying it I'm shocked I bought it because of the demo it had for it.. Cool stunts neat action very layed out and very good..

Really Good But Flawed |
| Caro from Dallas, USA says (21/Jan/2003): |
Their has been a lot of rave about his game just like in Halo. The only difference is that this game delievers most of it. The graphics are the best ever. Shadows and human figures look great. It really kept true to stealth talk. No matter how much you try running around it will get you killed in a matter of seconds. The sound is great as are the character voices, Ironside the voice of Sam is really good , but lacks the grit of Solid Snake. And that is were the flaws start. It is no where near as good as Metal gear Solid. The controls are choppy at best. To simply go behind the enemy and grab him is way to difficult for anybody except a true gamer. Metal Gear made is simple so all could enjoy it. And the story seems done. Not a bad one like Halo, but not original even for A Tom Clancy game. Worth buying if you have the patience to master the controls.

splinter cell is the worst game i ever played |
| LeROY from Portland USA Oregon says (9/Feb/2003): |
splinter cell is the worst game, why you ask because you dont get enough ammo for the game. Sure you can find some but even the ammo you find still dont give you enough. By the end of the level you have no ammo left. Know i what you guys are saying well i just suck at this game. Well if i buy i game i beat it even if i dont like it. And i done just that. Sure the game has cool grapics. But grapics can make a game tight, so all you gamers out there saying this is a outraged what im saying well its because you no how bad this game sucks. And it just not the ammo that sucks. For example on CIA headquarters you could not even use a gun come on know you got to be kiddin me. Anouther reason why the game sucks is you can only save the game if you get to a cheak point come on now. You peaple all know this game sucks.so this game gets a 1 if i could i would give it a BIG FAT 0

This game is surreal! |
| Rene Martinez from McAllen, USA says (13/Apr/2003): |
Man, I traded my PS2 for my new Xbox for the sole purpose of playing Splinter Cell. Since I saw the previews for the game, I was captivated by it's surrealism. And I love games where you can go under the cover of darkness and kill silently. The graphics in this game is unbelievable. I especially love using my night vision goggles no matter how dark it is 'cuz I like the way the screen looks. The gameplay is awesome; the only thing bugging me is not enough ammo--though I do shoot for the head (I get a kick out of the lucky, at a distant, with night vision goggles on, one-shot to the head kills --DAMN), sometimes I get carried away cuz I am trigger happy. I love the enviornments, the levels, the camera angles....it's awesome baby...the only thing I would suggest is a prequel. Give us a taste of what the main character did and what he has endured up to Splinter Cell.

So cool.... |
| Chase from Provo, USA says (28/Jan/2003): |
I cant beleive my eyes. This game is AMAZING. all the light in is perfect, sound, non painted on clothes, It's perfect. The moves are a whole new story in itself. I dont even want to start. And for that kid that gave it an 8 out of 10 I feel bad because your probably a beginner gamer and can't appreciate such great games. But the thing that gets me is that people keep saying that it's better than Halo.....I dont know.....Let's all try to remeber how great of a game Halo is. I think they're the same. Equal. 10 out of 10 for each. Im speecless on the greatness of each game. And if you say Halo didn't have a good storyline it's because you didn't understand it. Go to your nearest bookstore and buy a book called Halo: The Fall of Reach. It's the PREQUAL to the game. PREQUAL!!! It's like master cheif as a kid and stuff growing up. Way cool. It's all wonderful. Peace out.

Reasons why i don't and do like Splinter Cell. |
| Ryan Danniels from London,England says (8/Apr/2003): |
When I bought Splinter Cell I thought it was flawless. Playing it proved me wrong. Some things I didn't like. Bad things are:
.it is too short..when you put a body down the head sometimes goes through doors and walls.. not all lights can be broken..the multi-purpose lancher doesn't fire explosive grenades..he is utterly rubbish at close-combat..vehicles look scrappy and you can't break into them.the rifle is only single shot..the guards can't see you if you in shadow and you're right in front of them..you can only pick up items, ammo and Cokecans and bottles..he can't swim..only the game intro and the cut scenes between missions are good..he can't pick up enemy weapons or uniforms..on the power plant mission the level of snow does not increase..no non-campaign missions or multiplayer.
.there are only two guns you can use.Apart from that it's a good game.

You Guys Are Complaining |
| Matt Robinson from Spartanburg, S.C USA says (6/Jan/2003): |
Splinter cell is one of the most exciting and realistic game i've ever played. Iv'e heard some of u complaining about how you run out of ammo so fast.......How Do you run out of ammo in some mission you cant even kill people you will run out of darts but it doesnt matter you jus use them as when you can. And some of you are complaining about how you wish there was more blood..you want to shoot som1 and blood be on the floor in giant puddles? Like they want catch you then. Besides if you take time to check out the headshots blood does go everywhere it just doesnt stay. And some of you guys want splinter cell live?? that would take the point out of the stealth idea. online players isnt like a guard. And the complaints about graphics look closely at other games find a line in animation and then look for one in splinter cell good luck...

what happened to the ending? |
| justin maloney from brookyln newyork says (19/Dec/2002): |
Splintercell is a nice game, coolest graphics any one has ever seen sence halo. but the people who make these game's have to realise that endings are a very important part of the game.after buying the game for 54 dollars and playing it for countless hours of my life i was disapoined by the ending. if the xbox magazine would tell people that the game that was rated a 9.6 was short and the ending was wack, i would not have brought it.people you should rent this game, block buster lets you rent it for a week more than enough time to end it more than once. and what happen to the multiplayer?, but it is the first of its kind and theres nothing like it any were els so you have to play it, its even better than metalgear can you believe it? hopefully the sequal will be cooler with smarty more flexible bad guys who look and act differnt
