this game is unbeatable wot da u think send one in hey | | A gamer from derby england says (6/Apr/2003): | I have just got the game, i think that the graphics are extreamly realistic, along with the sound. i like the game because its an original shooter the story line creates a great game play ,the story line is realistic in the fact of terror its great if you want a challenge. i havent ever seen a game like this befor seeing as its uniqe you do find lots of things that catch your eye .the message item is good because you can hear what you have to do. the thing is you need to like a chalenge. the aids that are the most helpffull are the light detector witch says if your in the light and you can shoot out the lights to help being spotted .there are also a few good wepons if you havent any wepons then you can sneak up on people and knock them out.
| That punk with the one is dumb stupid actaually | | Terror's Eyes from Jamaica says (5/Apr/2003): | I have played the game and it's basically pure stealth cool graphics and many ways to do the same thing using people as human sheilds. Jumping on people to soften your fall. I mean how cool can this get. Oh and maybe your pissed because you only got a X-BOX to play it on guy with the 1 vote but this is PC we save wherever we want and a good gamer never blames his games. Only your skill sucks
| AWESOME GAME! | | Ryan Borchert from Carol Stream 306 Iliinois Usa says (4/Apr/2003): | I think this game is awesome and all but there is 2 very big mistakes this game has made Number one is that They berially have any guns and everyone Loves guns and the last promlem is that the game takes way to long to beat i mean it take like 2 months to beat the game and i forgot there is one more promblem is that in a couple of shots you are dead you die to Quick. But overall this game kicks < remove me > at $#
| A HELL OF A GAME!! GIVE ME MORE | | S. GRANNY from CHICAGO IL COOK says (3/Apr/2003): | I am a Metal gear and Syphon filter granny, I think SplinterCell really tweaked my brain. You have to use what you have, and sometime save what you have Never use the the strag guide, do iit your way, There was plenty of amo. I loved Michael Ironside voice. My grand daughter want her XBox back, because i am a Playstation 2 person, but now there is splinter cell. I must t ry it for the PS2. Great game
| Stealth Action Redefined | | A gamer from Chicago, Illinois U.S.A. says (30/Mar/2003): | This game has the best graphics, hands-down. the game was very challenging, but I beat the entire game in one week. Don't waste your money with Metal Gear Solid, this game blows that away. The best part of Splinter Cell would have to be the stealth action. sneaking up on your enemy is much more fun then the James Bond, Run and gun type game. The lighting in this game is so realistic, it is crazy. And if you have a PS2 or Xbox, I suggest buying this game for PC instead of both of those. The graphics and details are much better and the mouse-look is easier than using your thumb on those controllers. So don;t waste your tim looking, buy it.
| Best game since ages | | Alex from Wolfurt, Austria says (28/Mar/2003): | I have to say Splinter Cell is the best game since ages.
I have played MGS and MGS 2 as well but i have to say concerning to the Story I am more interested in the story of Splinter Cell (more realistic).
Look at MGS 2. Ok, cool graphics, cool moves and cool weapons. BUT: The Story is very confusing at times and too much mangalike.
Splinter Cell has the cool Tom Clancy - Espionage Thriller ambiente and you can relate more to Sam Fisher, than to Solid Snake or Raiden.
The graphics of Splinter Cell are according to lighteffects and movements of curtains etc. very good, the sound effects are great and the music gives you a nice adrenaline kick if you do something wrong.
If you set off an alarm, there come some guards and if you kill them they come not endlessly like in MGS :-).
The voice actors are great (Michael Ironside as Fisher), and the conversations between your enemys are interesting and funny.
The animations are great eg. Sam hanging between walls, rolling, the interrogation mode etc.
I hope there will be more games like Splinter Cell in the Future.
| Splinter Cell Rulzzz, but i want more missions! | | Gserious from Delft, Netherlands says (27/Mar/2003): | I have splinter cell on the pc. The graphics are really great. I got Geforce FX. I'm a metal gear solid fan, and this game is even better then metal gear. For the people that are complaining that there aren't enough bullets, that's bull$#< remove me > at !, learn too shoot in the head, or sneak the guards, and I have encountred many bullets in levels, i have u search in every room u will find items. I hear that are downloadable missions for SC on the XBOX, when does downloadable missions for the PC comes?
| The Shiznit:) | | Kyle B. M. from Merced, USA says (23/Mar/2003): | This game is truly amazing. The graphics are the "Oh my god!" type. I've never played a game this fun, challenging, and once again, honest to god amazing.
The high points in this game to me are:
•graphics
•level of skill required
•weapons
•alarms
•levels
I think there should've been more levels, but it's cool I can download them on xbox live. A sequel is requested. A unique, and awesome gaming experience in this game took place completely through every level. Nice Job!
| superb game- Splinter cell | | Ben Marley from Harrison M.E. usa says (22/Mar/2003): | Well, Where do I start, I could begin by congratulating the makers of this game for creating a game which revolutionizes the word "stealth" in all games, and gives the user a new standard in which to grade other stealth games in the future, or, I could insult, and put down all those who openly hated and gave the game a low score. I'll start by complimenting the game. Splinter cell is by far the greatest game i've played in a while, its graphics are excellent, its story line, very well thought up, its levels inspire players to be cautious and to think as if it were reality as far as hiding bodies, crouching and making noise. In simple terms it makes players think, use their brains, which i think has been abandoned in many other games, either because the creators thought many people would'nt like it, or because they had to comprimise storyline for graphics. because of this, (and I am now approching my second topic)most likely many players have graded the game poorly on the grounds that it was,"to hard" because they had been exposed to games that that just gave the game away, and they were used to it. Also, since when was it manditory to buy a game, if you dont like it, SELL IT! and leave the reveiws to those who can grade it based upon one who can play the harder games not one who gets into fits of rage because the gaurds can hear realistically and the ammo amounts are fairly low,I say live with it or sell it, dont give it a bad reveiw because rite now you cant win the game. Beleive me, when I first bought the game and played it I could not get it right, the levels were to big, the gaurds could hear to realistically I could not do many manauvers and, plain and simple I sucked, and now that I have had the game won for over a month now I still play it constanly because of those same, and many other factors. However now that I have raved about the game here comes the reason I gave it a nine: no multiplayer option, I may be just ignorant for thinking after all that, that they could give a multiplayer option, but still, thats the reason. Thus ends my review. Oh, yeah, and they better make a second one!
| Really good game, though it could use a few tweaks | | das_ghost77 from Ottawa, Canada says (19/Mar/2003): | When i bought this game, i was excepting amazing things. the game delivered, but theres still a few weak points. but first the good thing. the graphics will blow you away. you think HALO and Unreal Championship had good graphics? look again. this is the true power of Xbox graphics unleashed. The sound is really good. the music goes with the feel of the game; for example, the music really picks up when $h|t hits the fan, and so on. the sounds are great, and the voices are good. These parts of the game hand MGS2's ass to it. The story, it depends. if you are a Clancy fan, then the story is good. as far as general compiuter game stories go, its pretty good, but not supper amazing, clasic techno-thriller. the game requires much more tactical stealth oriented thinking than MGS2, so if you are a big fan of running through levels and blasting away with a machine gun, this might not be your game. you should rent it first. The game is reserved about handing out ammo to you. all you get on the first level are two clips for your silenced pistol which isnt super great as far as pistols go. if you are not a patient gamer, rent it first and try it out. if you get the pc version, the gamne gets easier becuase of the quickload and quicksave options, but the xbox owners arent that fortunate. THIS GAME IS HARD AND IT TAKES TIME AND PATIENCE. another thing is that the game doesnt have lean buttons, which oculd be a big bonus. sure you can look around corners with your back to the wall, but it stops there. opening the doors gets a bit tricky, since you always end up standing there and opening them right out, so theres always a chance that you might get unpleasently attacked. there are no multyple ways to open doors, and they should (hint hint, ubi soft) include this in a patch. besides these two things, i find absolutely nothing to complain about :). the last thing is that the levels dont let you explore that much, theres always a pre-determined path. sure you can go about different ways of going through that path, but theres very limited straying of the predermined route. this doesnt bother me that much, and this could change with further levels. asides from the things i just listed, this game is perfect (for its genre). however i suggest that you rent it first to see if you like it since it might not be your style.
however, from my point of view, this game is awesome. this is the kind of game that requires actual thinking, not just point and shoot. the real stealth action game
| addition to my review | | das_ghost77 from Ottawa, Ontario says (19/Mar/2003): | I played the game some more, and i found some more annoying things. you cant pick up dead peoples guns. thats the only thing that really annoys me, but since the rest of the game is awesome, im willing to overlook it. but come on ubi soft, consider it. you should be able to pick up other peoples weapons, whats so hard about integrating it into the game. another thing is most of the missions where you are allowed to kill people, you could use an extra clip or two. those are the only other bad things in the game. if you are reading reviews that say the game is crappy, thats bs. come on, its the first release. thats what patches and add-ons are for (for those of us with xbox live)
| True Gamers Game | | SexualPanda86 (AIM screen name) from Washington....(state) says (18/Mar/2003): | Alright, yeah the graphics are awsome. What is up with all these people crying about glitches? Stop being queers and play the damn game. And for you people that say it is too hard? Go back and play your candyland, whatever you think is easy. This game is awsome game play, challenging, but not too challenging.
| Splinter cell better than metal gear solid? | | Brad Thompson from Great Britain says (17/Mar/2003): | splinter cell is a great game, but there are'nt that many guns. The last level is way too easy to end the game and so are the other levels. Metal gear solid has lots of guns and there are various difficulties for your desire. I think the wall mines were a brilliant idea in splinter cell and the next metal gear solid should have them. The health bar in splinter cell is quite realistic as the Army's standard rifle would take about four bullets to kill you. Metal gear solid on the other hand can take many bullets to kill you, not including european extreme and hard. The whole game is fairly easy even on hard. Metal gear solid beats splinter cell
| Listen to Killa K | | SamDaMan from New Jersey says (16/Mar/2003): | If anyone having trouble with something, then maybe your going about it the wrong way, or you need to practice. Splinter Cell is a great game and I dont see what some of you people problems are! Tips: aim for the head to kill in one shot and what till crosshair is zeroed in before fireing. Hide bodys in dark places were Sam is in low-lowest visibilty to avoid alarms being randomly turned on.
| The best !! | | Tiago from Porto, Portugal says (14/Mar/2003): | IS A VERY GOOD GAME... Sorry my english, i'm portuguese and don't write english very well but i have to speak of the game .. Is a fantastic game it everthing i expect .. Is more good then Metal Gear Solid .. I love Metal gear solid but splinter cell is very, very good more than metal gear .. if anyone have some question of the game mail me .. :)
Good Game for all ..
| well it just rocks | | john says (13/Mar/2003): | it's like you're in a movie, you got style and all, and you improvise, on the first level I ran outta bullets kiling cops without shooting their heads, still was quite fun ending the with just a can and barehand fighting, by the time I went to dead drop I had one bullet. in the next level I only died once in the last part where you pick up the grenade, I finished the level with 20 bullets... camon bullets are usefull to save work their not indespendable, you can alaways figure oput a way to wack their heads, the only time that I spended a lot of bullets was in the courtyard shoot out, the rest of the bullets I used it on cameras, after that level I finished all the others without worrying about bullets and now that I have the rifle bullets are not an issue, the diversion cameras are, gotta love those, I hated MGS2 because your weapon didn't kill enemies, they just slept for a minute, what kind of a weapon would do such a thing? even a slinger in the head would prove more efective. as for the gameplay, I play it on PC so I don't know what the hell are you talking about when you say it's not very fluid, it's probably the best and easiest gameplay I've seen, I figure out that playing it with a mouse and play with a gamepad it's not quite the same, gamepads are for games without necessary aiming. oh and I do save games whenever I want hehe
| Great Graphics, really hard, very good, the harder the better | | Gnatman from Boise, USA says (10/Mar/2003): | This is one of the best games i have ever played in my life... this is a hard game but the hard in the game is what makes the game good. All of the other games that i have played are easier than this game. This game has great graphics and by far the best plot i have ever seen in a game of this caliber... i have only made it to like the 4th level but that is enough to tell that this is the best game i have ever played so far... my brother likes it, my friends like it, and most importantly i love it.
| Good and the bad | | Richard Doyles from US of A says (9/Mar/2003): | In the world of stealth action gaming, shadows are your best friend and silence is king. Discretion is, and always have been, the trademark of a true professional. Splinter Cell has great graphics and even better gameplay that rips off Metal Gear in the most blatant way, but indeed that is why this game rocks and more. Sam Fisher has a vast arsenal of moves, it really takes sometime before everything becomes second nature and empowers the player immensely. I'm impressed the way the game subtly encourages gamers to use stealth and cunning to incapacitate enemies whenever possible rather than brute force. Oh and the save features are GREAT! One thing I notices though is that the graphics for the PC version are far more superior than the Xbox. Also the control physics are great for the Xbox, but the controls for PC version are very tight and almost faultless. On the other hand, this game has some of the lamest story I've seen in my life. Nothing unravels in a way to excite players to find out more, since most of the time you don't get to see any of the character's faces in an intimate fashion, whether they'll be villains or good guys. As a result I felt so detached from the storyline, I might as well play Quake III and frag my opponents while hiding in the shadows. It doesn't help the fact that I have no sympathy for the CIA causes; every intelligent Americans knows that the CIA is as crooked as Colombian druglords. Hmm maybe this game covertly recruit our young boys and girls into working for the government? Now that's what I call a good storyline! Oh, and it might help to change Sam Fisher's face as well - in my opinion he looked a bit too old to be kicking ass. You don't see any grey shades on Solid Snake's hairs. I really like this game and highly recommend it to those who loves quality stealth gaming like the superb Thief and Metal Gear Solid series, or something less subtle like Hitman 2.
| Metal gear is good, this is better. | | A gamer says (9/Mar/2003): | I think that this game is done very well. I though that Metal Gear II was very well made also, but it was too short, and the PS2 graphics make me retch. I do, however, feel that Splinter cell has all of the elements of the right game. The visuals are great, the sound pounds on your cranium, and the gameplay rocks energy through your heart. Overall I think that this game is very impressive. Now for what I dislike about the game. This game is good, although at times it seems as though the enemies are totally, unrelistically challenging. Nobody should be able to hear someone fall from five feet, and then land quietly. Even though it is hard, that is what makes this game so endearing. The enemies in Metal Gear (Both I and II) are entirely predictable, and it was much too easy to slip pass them. The lack of multiplayer is quite disheartening, as I think that a multiplayer (either splitscreen, co-op *drool*, or online gameplay would make this deal all the sweeter. Overall, this is a great game, that has a few minor shortcomings. I still think, however, that this game is as good, if not better, than MGSI and MGSII
| Splinter Cell is the best there is!! | | A gamer from South Carolina, USA says (8/Mar/2003): | Splinter Cell is an awsome all around game. The first time I played it, I didn't like it because it was to hard for me. But then I figured it out. It is the best sealth action game ever! It deserves a ten from everybody. The graphics amaze me. It is so realistic it's almost like it's just a video of something that really happened! If you like video games at all, I highly reccomend Splinter Cell.
