SWEET14544

David from Illinois, USA says (2/Jan/2003):
I recieved the game for christmas and was very pleased from the moment i saw the intoduction video. I really love this game because the graphics are flawless and it is glitch free, i also love the fact that you have to be sneaky and with limited amounts of ammunition this makes everyone think of a strategy, no running in rooms without getting the alarm pulled type of deal. This game is no doubt better than any Metal Gear so far. I give my appreciation to Tom Clancy and another wonderfuly polished game.

Splinter Cell: VERY GOOD GAME14581

One Eyed Parrot from USA says (3/Jan/2003):
Splinter Cell is the coolest game i have ever played! It beats mgs and mgs2 by a long shot. one thing i like about it is all the moves you can perform, my favorite being where you canget between a narrow wall and out your legs against each side. Its fun to wait for enemies to pass under and just drop on them. It is very realistic in terms of the tecnology offered (nightvision, thermal vision) All the gadgets you get are cool too! Very good game and definitely worth your money!

Splinter Cell International14581

A gamer from Gernsheim, Germany says (3/Jan/2003):
Hi I live in Germany on what follows that I'm German. Splinter Cell Isnt really popular over here, cause the X-BOX is really expensive in comparisson to the USA. I only know like 3 people with an X-BOX over here. Ive beaten the game once already and i've finished the Chinese Embassy stage on hard now. Well to the point: Splinter Cell is the best game ever cause there are so many different ways to beat it, you can keep tottaly quiet and invisible and beat the game by killing only the people you have to (Kombayn Nokoladze, Grinko e.t.c, or you can kill everyone who crosses your path (Gets a lil' hard at CIA). Its amazingly versitile eventhough its a level-based game. I cant wait till X-BOX LIFE comes out. Shout Outs to all Splinter-Cell-Players out in the world.

Dont understand why they can see you14624

Juan from Sioux City, Iowa says (3/Jan/2003):
Overall the game rocks. But I agree with some of the other comments made from other people. Mine is How can the badguys see you in a dark ally, passage way, or room. Ive shot all the lights out and its dark. I throw a can to get the attention of one badguy and it runs directly to my position.but any ways its cool. Im almost done with the game, just rented the game yesterday and its been pretty easy. Hope there is a splitter II.

Stop Cryin' over Auto Aim.14643

Kevin from Boise, USA says (3/Jan/2003):
As some people have previously mentioned, you actually need skills to play this game, so if you are one of those people that needs help from mommy and auto aim….don’t buy this game.

Overall I give the game a 10. This game is very realistic. You are in enemy territory for most of the game; so you can’t go running around like a moron. You can't just go around killing everyone, or you will run out of ammo, as would happen in real life. This game requires you to think about how you are going to get through levels. Sometimes one alarm set off will end your game. You can't pick up the guards weapons because they don't have the same weapons as you. I like the gadgets in this game a lot. Sticky camera, distraction cameras, and the non-lethal devices. I like how the game seems to get harder with each passing level as well.

The one glitch I noticed is in using the non-lethal devices. 95 percent of the time when you knock someone out with a non-lethal device, they will stay down and knocked out for the whole level, but I’ve noticed a few times that they will wake back up and try to stand up, I don’t know how this happens, has anyone else experienced this?

Amazing, don't think about not playing this game, don't miss out14664

John from lexington ky usa says (3/Jan/2003):
I just started this game a few days ago and its got to be the best game that i have ever played. The best thing about about this game is the split jump! What makes this game so great is the ability to shoot out all of the lights and sneak up on an enemy and take him out, thats the great thing about this game, you have to sneak around instead of just shooting and running around. If you havent played this game you have to buy it!

BEST GAME EVER!14772

M DOG says (4/Jan/2003):

Okay now I hear everyones talking about HALO 2 going to be the best game. I say Splinter Cell would kill HALO 2 in votes, and its not just because the graphics its because it puts you in the seat of a real spy not some James Bond running around with guns killing everyone you see. It lets you hide in shadow when most games you can see him in the dark areas.IN SHORTER WORDS BEST GAME EVER!

Great Game14790

jon from Westfield, USA says (4/Jan/2003):
I think that this game is amazingly good, but has a few problems. Like the oil rig for instance, what kind of a level is that it is short, there is no ending and after two great levels before it the game turns bla. After that is another great level. The thing i dislike the most is how sometimes guards can see you when you are hiding in a dark corner, and sometimes they cant. Both times your stealth meter is at the bottom, but sometimes they can see right through the dark. Some other things I dislike in the game are when you have to hide bodies and if you dont as soon as you enter the next room the alarm goes out. All in all this is a great game

Some people..14798

not_home from Anytown, USA says (5/Jan/2003):
Some people crack me up. This game has by far the best graphics, some of the best controls of any game ever, and is solid in every aspect. Still people complain about "gliches" because they lack either skill or intelligence or both. Alarms going off means you messed up and left dead people laying around. It is NOT a glich. A game should not get a bad score because you can't play. Learn to play and the "gliches" will go away and maybe you will see what the vast majority of people are talking about when they say this game totally rocks!

awesome!!!!!14846

Joe from Cardiff, United Kingdom says (5/Jan/2003):
Why are some of you complaining? I completed the game with spare ammo at the end and had no problems with glitches in the game. Graphics are stunning, gameplay excellent, overall one of the best games around. Perhaps some of you should stick with PAC-MAN and leave the hard games to those of us that can do them.

Totally Sweet Ass14879

A gamer says (5/Jan/2003):
This is a unique game, completely original and excellent in it's own right. I had trouble getting accustomed to sneaking around and using my head at first, as opposed to just walking around and killing people, but sticking with the game most definately payed off. Now I can't get enough of it, and the challenge and caliber of gameplay is amazing. Excellent game.

One of the best games I've ever played!14912

JTrull from Jacksonville, FL, USA says (6/Jan/2003):
To all you people who are whining about so-called "glitches" try to think of them more as challenges. God forbid if you have to think!! I don't know about all of you, but I love a good challenge, it gets me thinking. I definitely love every bit of this game from the graphics right down to the gameplay. They couldn't have done a better job!

Stealthtastic.14935

Neil Hughes from San Antonio, Texas says (6/Jan/2003):
This game is in no way a MGS clone. It really requires more strategy than just looking at your handy dandy radar. Not to mention that the enemies are actually rather alert. In MGS you can run behind them, cartwheel, practice kung-fu, and as long as you don't knock the wall, they don't notice. In Splinter Cell, you can't leave an audible footstep or they come a running, which makes it hard, and an integral part of the game to throw things as distractions. If you peeps have trouble with getting caught, then you need to throw more bottles. The darkness is also a very nice aspect, but I think they would notice the three glowing eyes. They should turn off when not in use, considering ATN made that technology possible in 1997, and the game is set in 2004. Unless Sam is using an ATN OH1, which doesn't have the smart tech, but does have the trinocular configuration. I doubt this though, for that model only comes in Gen 1. Since Gen 4 technology recently came out, I doubt Sam would be using technology from the 60's. Sorry, went ranting there. On to the review. If you think this is a Metal Gear Solid clone, play it more. NONE of it is alike. The controls are excellent. Having one button to interact with everything works perfectly. For those complaining that there isn't enough ammo, you're not really supposed to kill. I don't mind the Deus Ex style aiming reticle, but I don't find it weird that occasionally, you CAN miss from incredibly far away, probably by faults of the gun. Don't automatically assume that one year in the future mere handguns will be sniper quality. They've been around for a while and it hasn't happened yet. Unlike MGS, you have no radar to rely on, no handy Robo-Ninjas calling you tell you that they enjoy oral sex and that they know where the mines are. It is entirely up to your instincts. Take the part after the kitchen in the Defense place. It took me several tries to figure out where the second man was, but in the end, I managed to drop down to knock out one, and elbow the other. It may be hard for people hooked on Metal Gear to adjust to the controls, as shown in all of my friends and my brother. But the game is overall much more rewarding. I haven't beaten it yet, but it is much more overall rewarding. Sure, you can hold up a mook in MGS. But nothing feels better than dropping down from a split jump onto one soldier using the NVG in the dark, strangling his friend, and using him as a human shield while you shoot the last one, finishing by going back into a split jump before the camera moves back over to that side of the hall.

Blwdy Gret14961

Daniel Porter from Wales says (7/Jan/2003):
Bugger the glitches, this game is what Metal Gear 2 never was (Metal Gear 1 is the best game ever made). It's great that you only have a limited number of bullets so you cant just go round killing everything unless you know the level and every patrol pattern the guards take. And you HAVE to hide every body regardless of what you think is an unused patrol route. A good challenge and a great graphical marvel. A damn good entry to the stealth genre.

OMG one word15088

Bobby Hill from Texas says (9/Jan/2003):
ummm sorry I actually love the game, just wanted to turn a few heads!

But I guess I need at least 30 words to get this dumped on the site so I'll say... the best game ever developed is Medal of Honor Allied Assault and the expanson Spearhead.
Oh God that reminded me how much I hate having to aim with a controller instead of a mouse.

Cheers!

Super graphics game15247

Biggest 007 fan. from Glouscester says (11/Jan/2003):
This game is good but it is very hard. With graphics this game beats every single game ive played on(even nightfire). It over priced becasue come on £40 your having a laugh! The aiming of it is absolutly rubbish. Its very anoying when you can't save when you want only at check points. you alwasy run out of ammo wich gets annoying. Im only on the first level and im at the part in the police station with 1 bullet left. If you gonna get it wait till its somin like £25 because that how much its worth or get nightfire 007. Its way better. 8/10

worth every penny15351

Chris from Arlington, Texas says (12/Jan/2003):
I had to speak up because a previous 1 star review ticked me off. This game is quality in every sense of the word and no more expensive than any other game fresh on the market. The fact that bullets are few and you must work for your checkpoints makes this game worth the money. Do you get the idea OMG...if it's too hard for you stick with Game Cube Mario Sunshine. Real gamers need only apply for the challenge of this game. I loved metal gear and this is much better than that. I hate when people complain when the game doesn't play for them. Don't miss out on most possibly the best game ever created thus far. Til pt2

A must buy for any espionage fan!!!!!!!15374

Josh from Austin TX says (13/Jan/2003):
I have always been a fan of the stealth scenario games like Medal Gear, Syphon Filter, etc....But Splinter Cell in short takes the cake. It has the very best lighting and attention to "most" details I have ever seen on any gaming software!! I looked at many other reviews and notice a lot of complaining. Basically about "there" problems like..."I couldnt shoot with that big target reticle!" Well if you have ever shot a hand gun before from as little as 10 feet away...your shot area is pretty big...The people at Ubi Soft payed excellent attention to those details of accuracy. It seems tedious at times but thats what made it so realistic. The fact that you arent an action movie star blowing everything away and getting shot 80 times in the head. If you want that..play Halo. Bottom line their were and always will be small things that could have been better...but if the programers spent all their time "perfecting" a game. We would never see it. So bottom line I think it was an OUTSTANDING game for what time they had alloted to make it in.
A note for others...Stop complaining about, "I ran out of bullets on the first level...WHAAAAAA!!!" Think espionage, not action movie.
