[XBOX] Dark Angel needs a prayer ! | | James "Blackthorn" Efaw from New York, USA says (2/Dec/2002): | Based on a sitcom, Dark Angel immediately grabbed my interest. I watched the show and liked what I saw. Not many titles are TV series based, so i was curious to see what this game had in store. You play as the genetically enhanced Max, straight from the series... super abilities and all. Max is voiced over by the actual actress from the sitcom, Jessica Alba. Her friend logan is from the show as well, Mr. Michael Weatherly. Logan gives Max tips and suggestions all throughout the game. Unfortunately, its usually the same thing.... "try and be stealthy, but don't get your hopes up... you'll have to beat the snot out of everyone anyway". I discontinued play after the first two levels. To be blunt, the game is repetitive and monotonous. The moves are smooth looking, but the graphics are very inferior compared to other titles of the same type for XBOX, like Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell and Metal Gear Solid 2. Max can do amazing moves like flip kicking off of a wall, and silently snapping someone's neck. Her sneaking abilities involve peering around corners, walking quietly, and staying hidden while hanging from a rafter or support beam. But that's about it. And if you're any kind of gamer, you can imagine that the same thing level after level just isn't worth investing your time into. I rated this game a 4... seriously lacking! The game has very good attention grabbing ability for the first hour only. After that, it's a struggle to even keep your eyes open. Personally I expected a lot more from Sierra. They're my favorite publisher... so readers can be sure that this review is from-the-depth-of-my-soul honesty. So purchase or rent the game if you will. But be forewarned... you'll be kicking yourself later.
| boring.... | | sharmaine from north carolina, usa says (27/Apr/2003): | My boyfriend bought me this game so i would have something to do while he played football...and i was so upset, first of all, it is the same thing over and over, first you sneak by someone and still can't pass the level until you waste all of your wrist energy trying to beat them, the second and third levels of the game really upset me because of the time limits placed on such simple levels. i would have had more fun playing crash bandacoot!!!!!
| Dark Amazing | | Dave M from Hartlepool, England. says (3/Sep/2003): | ok fair enough its almost metal gear solid based and probably will get alot of stick for it but this is actually an awesome title. Based upon the cult television series 'Dark Angel' (created by James Cameron), this game has all the characters from the show and even sports the voices of jessica alba (Max) and Michael Weatherly (Logan). The Basic life story of Max is she's a genetically enhanced solider trying to discover the truth about her past and while trying to stay alive on the post-apocalyptic world that is her home. The whole story line smells of x-men (wolverine) but with a more intense flavour.
The game on a whole is massive and well addictive for even the most part time gamers. Die-hard fans and new comers alike will love this for just killing them few hours when 'theres nothing better to do'. True you'll push it to one side when metal gear solid 3 is released but this is a good game to pass the waiting gap.
In short, a highly over looked title with many weeks of enjoyment.
