Best 2D fighter of all time |
| Super Gaijin from Charlottetown, PEI says (14/Dec/2003): |
I've yet to play a 2D fighting game that can compare to this game, well, except for King Of Fighers Dream Match 1999 for the Dreamcast.
The graphics are great, having 6 grooves as opposed to just two is awesome, the little-to-no load time is great for just picking it up and playing, the character selection is amazing, I personally find the graphics quite well done since the animations are very smooth. The addition of Evil Rugal was interesting but broken. He was definitely the best character in the game, nothing could stop him.
Now for the cons....
The EO control setup was a pile of $#< remove me > at ! and I hated it, it took so much away from the game. No ratio fighting? Where did the days go when I could play as a Level 4 King and annihilate every team? I do like the option to play just one-on-one as opposed to team fights since they do get boring after a while. Besides, it's better to see how well you really can do with each character since you don't get the whole advantage of having a team as opposed to a single fighter.
Overall, an amazing game, I totally love it and suggest it to everyone I know who owns an XBox or PS2.

OK First off om a fan of Capcom for over a decade. And i like 2d fighters i love ,street fighter, darkstalkers, and a few others so it is no surprize i like this little gem with it's many modes and online play, but i have a huge overhelming gripe the CHARATER GRAPHICS what the heck is that? Are they making them chunky and pixel unfreindly on purpose or is capcom in some kind of video game flash back? the XBOX has the power to clean this up why not use it ? im not saying every game has to look like doa? the old school gameplay with lots of charaters and modes, saves this title from the trash can. The 6 is lack of graphical effort otherwise a 8

Best Fighter yet for xbox |

Even though this game has very pixelated character graphics, they don't stop this game from being one of the best 2d fighters ever. Consider the fact that there are 40+ characters to choose from. Each with his/her own fighting style/moves and overall feel. Most other games have around 10-15 and each uses the same basic fighting techniques. If you add the Online play option for this game into the mix... this game is almost unstoppable. The fast gameplay and fighting styles are there. The only thing missing is the character graphics. If not for Character graphics this game would've gotten a 10. but an 8 is still very respectable. GREAT JOB!!
