After playing the suffering for about 4 days, (rather short game) I was ready to put some serious time in on a good title. After hearing about B.D. dark alliance from friends, and being a fan of Diablo 2 I decided to give it a go. To maker a long story short you play human, elf, or dwarf who shows up in baldurs gate and gets robbed and almost killed. Because of the guards patrolling the streets looking for thieves wondering about, you’re luckily spared and shown to the nearest Inn.
This game is awesome! The sound, graphics, and controls are all tight. Aside from that another strong point is that this game can please the seasoned RPG gamer and yet be easy enough for someone that games on a casual level to jump right in. I finished it in about 16 hours. The games rules are those used in the dudgeons and dragon’s world so there’s a lot of calculations going on. This dose not affect your gaming experience meaning you won’t waste time with fancy magic grids and things like this.
There’s one draw back to this title and that’s after you beat the game your character is only half of its full potential. If you try to start a new game and want to use that character you only have the option to export player to a memory stick. But in the start game menu you have an option called gauntlet mode where you enter about seven rooms and have it out with various monsters. I had a blast but I played it like 50 times before I beat it. Beating it opens up an import character where you can use them in new games. But for some gamers this might be a turn off and can quickly be shelved and forgotten. This game is highly recommended to anyone looking for a long and enthralling RGP game experience!

Best Xbox game yet! |
| Ryuuen from Maine, USA says (26/Sep/2003): |
Well, I might be exagerating.. but just a little bit. It's certainly my favorite.
I'm an extremely picky RPG fan, and I usually only buy the best games. I rented this one first, and was completely blown away. Absolutely gorgeous graphics, a Dungeons & Dragons like feel to it (which is a good thing), good voice acting, and being an all-around incredibly fun game to play, made it a definate "plus" for me.
So, when I was given the game as a gift by someone who knew I was into the game, naturally I was thrilled.
As an avid D&D player, I recognized quite a few of the elements of the game (the dungeons, and some of the story elements), but I'm pleased to say that this game remains original, even though it seems to be pretty heavily based on D&D and other similar RPG classics.
I could play this game forever. There is such a variety of things you can do with the characters. The multi-player mode is particularly amusing, especially since you can't actually "die"... just go back to the next save point and you're set. Although, it is a bit annoying when you lose EXP thanks to the other player killing the boss, or whatnot. They have a good system running, though, for the multi-player. There are a few glitches, but there always are in really good games like this. (*cough*moneycheat*cough*)
The system is extremely easy to handle, which is also handy. It took me about ten minutes, tops, to learn the controls well enough to beat my way through those dungeons.
All in all, I would say this is the best game the Xbox has seen yet. It has everything. I love it!

Supior? Hale? Oy.
Anyway. When I received the game for -gasp- Playstation 2 I was a bit leery about playing it. It turned out to be a damn good game after all. So good that after it was beaten I went through the game again, several times, just to level up. Then again, many probably did that just to have a high ranking character for the next Baldurs Gate. The music was good, the sound effects were great enough that when the rats squeaked my cat freaked out, looking for the invading rodent. Unfortunately poor Bagheera was disappointed. C'est La Vie.
I don't know how the play is for X-box, mainly because X-box has a lot of hype, and very crappy games. I have seen it, but wasn't very impressed as it looked just like playstations version.
So, in the form of sound biased.
All HAIL (not hale) Playstation Two!
No time for me to beat it with Drizzt. Laters.

Better than your mom.... |
| Heather from Las Vegas, NV USA says (24/Feb/2003): |
I LOVE this game. XBOX is one of the reasons though. Without XBOX, I don't think it would be as fast, gorgeous to look at or any of the many other wonderful things it is. The superiority of the XBOX version over all the others is apparent to even small mentally unstable half- blind monkeys. This game could only be better if in multiplayer mode, you could use everyone and not just 2 people. I wasn't surprised to learn that it was a Dungeons and Dragons game because of the complexity of the story and the theme. All in all, I have almost passed it with my boyfriend in 2 player and we have been playing for a total of 11 hours on and off. Wonderful.....

This has to be the game of the Year..IT'S TOTALLY AWESOME!!!!!! |
| Jeff from Kapuskasing, Ontario, Canada says (18/May/2003): |
The Graphics and gameplay are awesome..The only thing is that the game is too short, In two player mode you can beat the game in 8 hrs...but that is nothing to worry about, The whole structure of the game is well purportioned. I especially like Chapter 2..The last boss...IS CRAZY..lol but I love it..So good job to the makers of the game and I can't wait for the next one!!

Baulders Gate is pretty cool, The graphics are awesome but it does lack the freedom that a game like Morrowind has. As a hack and slash game I like it.
PS2 poster, as I understand it PS2 has more games but x-box has the better graphics and on-line gaming system. I know you are just looking for a reaction so there you go!

This game is Awesome! Good Graphics, awesome levels, Cool weapons, and sweet armor. The only thing about this game if that it only has three chapters. But I give this game a 10.
Another thing about the game are the characters. I think they did a great job on the characters like Kromlech and Vahn.

| Rocket X from Forest, MS, United States of America says (30/Nov/2002): |
Ha ha ha, this version (in my opinion) kicks PS2's < remove me > at $$ because of the improved graphics. It was already fun, but then(since Xbox is so much more better) Xbox's supior processor makes the game even more prettier than the PS2. ALL HALE XBOX!
