High Heat's Artifitial Inteligence is not good enough!

A gamer from Tehran says (24/Sep/2003):
When you start a game it is obvious that you will win or lose.
for example you are ahead in the middle of 8th inning and there are 2 outs and the bases are empty.then your pitcher gives up his first hit,you substitude him.the other pitcher gives up another hit,you substitude every pitcher in your bullpen but you
lose the game, and your sure that you didn't pitch anything easy
to the rookie batters of the other team!

Clay Brewer from Texas, USA says (4/Sep/2003):
Just incase yawl didtn know this but if you put in a a simple name like brewer or thomas or goodman, the announcer wil recognize it and say during game play. This is an awsome addition to all the other great stuff. just thought yall might like to know. plus the game doesnt cheat. it goes buy your batting average. if your teams batting average is higher then the other teams, then it gives you a better chance to win, kinda like a handicap, just the other way around!!!

high heat cheats30018

matt from boston, ma says (14/Aug/2003):
the graphic is good, the movements, the announcers(even though as someone else mentioned, they get old after a while). the base running is horrible. if you put the stealing on auto, it will make sure you regret it. they run with ball hit in front of them and open base bahind them and run you right out of an inning. but the thing that annoys me the most is that i think it cheats!!! i am pretty sure the runs for a particular inning is decided in advance, and no matter how hard you try to out guess the batter, you will end up walking him or him hitting and batting in the run. oh, you can hurt yourself by not batting well, but no matter how many runs you get, if you are suppose to lose, you WILL lose!!! its frustrating and after playing it about 50-60 times and realizing that even the games that i won, i was suppose to, i gave up on it. another problem is, you can never strike a batter up on a 3-2 pitch. never never never!!! which is unrealistic. they almost never swing at a pitch thats not down the middle and you can be damn sure that pitch 99% of the time be a ball. and if you do pitch down the middle, it be hit!!! over all, i think it just gives the appearance of competition, while the result is already decided.

On second thought/play29123

NeverBorn says (3/Aug/2003):
I've played this game much more since my last review and I have come to the conclusion that this is a really GREAT baseball game... The copy I played with the frist time was damaged and lost things in effect, after playin a clean one though, i love this game, if I wasnt such a football fanatic I would buy this... Controls are best that I've seen for a Baseball game. Although the commentary does get old and there is No celebration of a Walk off Grand Slam, this is still a really good game. Even after over 50 games... (season adds a twist)

Ehh. Ok. Great... for a baseball game.27009

NeverBorn from Kila, Montana, USA says (3/Jul/2003):
Well it looks lie 3do has made some advances in baseball, but I don't think any developer will get baseball right, ever. This game has relistic throw dynamics, base running is a little skeptical, as usual. When you want to steal with one player with 2 on, you can only make both of them steal which can end up in easily gettin tagged out. This game lacks in any "celebrations", after yu win a game, the players just run back and forth into each other while you watch from above. I didn't like how there is really no celebration for a no hitter or a shut out or a perfect game. This could have been a REALLY good game if 3DO would have put more detail (or any for that matter) into celebrations. The commentary gets old FAST, and I just ended up lowering the volume of the announcers to the point of near silence. There is good tuning options for people who like to breeze through a game, or for those who want to have a pitchers dual. You can set how fast each kind of pitch goes in relation to others, you can set how fast your baserunners run, and how fast the cpu's base runners run. All kinda of things to change to make the game harder/easier. This isn't a bad game by any means and after a few games gets sorta addictive. I've even contemplated buying this game now. If you are a die-hard baseball fan, looking for the best game out there on xbox, this is the one. If you just play sports games and aren't much for baseball this may not be for you.

the best ever25376

jon juneau from las cruses, new mexico, usa says (14/Jun/2003):
this is the best baseball game easily this year. the gameplay is the most realistic out of all the baseball games. in franchise mode there are farm teams, people can go to the hall of fame when they retire, you can choose budgets for your team, you can manage two or more teams, there is a fantasy draft (unlike mvp baseball 2003), you can choose number of innings in a game and number of games in a season. The graphics are good and the commentary is great. Its obvious that this is the best base ball game of the year and maybe even the best baseball game ever.

The best computerized baseball simulation yet to be produced24525

Thomas Zima from El Paso, TX says (1/Jun/2003):
Incredibley realistic -- that sums up the gameplay of High Heat
Baseball 2004.I have been playing computerized baseball simulations since the
days of Earl Weaver Baseball which was designed for the Tandy 1K. HH 2004 takes full advantage of the power of the Play Station 2 by providing outstanding graphics, management strategies that keep one thoroughly engaged, and an AI that is more challenging than any other console game that I have ever palyed -- including
Triple Play and All-Star Baseball.I have only one complaint. I purchased my disc in mid-April 2003 and it's possible that there were certain bugs present in the lot
from which I acquired my game. In particular, the system will lock on an intermittent basis upon the completion of a game. This can be frustrating; especially after one has just played a spectacular game -- hitting five home runs, shutting out the computer opponent, and extending what would have been a 10-game
winning streak. Aside from that, the other features far outweigh this occassional
annoyance and High Heat 2004 is by far the best computerized/
console baseball simulation available. It truly cators to the
appetite of the baseball fan.

Overall average game19823

Andrew from Cortland, Ohio says (24/Mar/2003):
There are several things i liked about this game. One I liked the commentary and 2 I liked the overall gameplay. Complaints I have are that when a 300 lbs. player is created (or even a 145lbs. person) their weight is not properly shown. A 300 lbs. player looks the same as a 145lbs. player. Also I disliked how there is no movie or "special endind" after winning the world series.
