I give gladius a 9 instead of a 10 only because I think a few things could of made it a 12 out of a 10 !! There is no question this is a game that will go down in some books!! I would suggest it to everyone and/or anyone. The only reasons for the 9 and not the 10 is the facts 1) not enough side quest, needed more definately!! 2) fights on the world map should have been to where u could not retreat from them, that would have brought the challenge to life Id have to say, maybe from the 4-6 area to up around the 8-10. That about sums up what i didnt like about the game I guess, I think it would have rocked if it was setup to where you couldnt flee from a outside fight, that way it wouldve definately been a strategy game:) You wouldve had to been sharp and do it right or have someone in your school lost forever, I also belive it would have been better alot if there was away that the game saved itself every so often, I have seen some auto save games and thats what this needed 2, them 2 elements would have made this a 12 out of 10 I think. What do people do even if you couldnt flee and you lost a good recruit? restart the sucker and load saved game, but what if it was to where you could not restart unless 3 hrs back or lose a recruit, could be a hard decision. I d say if the game saved yes every 3 hrs and didnt let a person save the game and outside fights could not be run from and death was real I think that all with gladius would definately ROCK!!!! Im HARDCORE though :)

Don't let the eight fool you this game is killer. Personally I don't like RPG's, it goes agianst everything I belive in. So when I bought this I didn't realize it and thought it was going to suck. I was off by a long shot. I love it. I give everything about it a 10, except the only reason i gave it a eight is becuase I don't like it unless you have some one playing with you. Not to mention when your by yourself playing it gets repetitive. But this one is a definate buyer.

Gladius is a very addicting game and i would love to see more games on the xbox implement simular turn based style. Lots of options to allow you to be unique in your strategy. The ability to choose which members of your school you want to fight in a given battle AND where to place them on the field is great. Especially once you figure out the different class/size advantages and disadvantages. I also enjoy the dozens and dozens of different classed characters with their own brand of battle. The plot was a bit predicable and some of the dialog was cheesy but a very fun game none the less, worth the money if you like unique RPG's.

I gave this game a 8 because yes I do think it is fun but here are a few things that I feel they should change if they happen to make another one.
1. Speed option the abilitiy to speed up battles or slow them down when needed.
2. Inventory management. Inventory should be more manageable than what it is now. Giving you more options with equiping and unequiping them. Viewing them and seperating them.
3. The music should change often and be more energetic in the game play.
4. Suprise battles in the world should occur more frequently.
Those are what I feel will be a good change.

Personally i liked this game. It has great gameplay and the sounds and graphics are great. The reason that i only gave it an eight is becouse it is slow. The battles in the begining range from 15-20 min. a battle and later they can even get up to half hour-45 min. long. I do however thing that this game is a great value becouse of the gameplay and the originality of it but it will be a game that can last along time. So to sum it up here is my scores:

I was blown away when first playing Gladius. It blends turn based startegy and roleplaying elemnents perfectly and has a great combat system. Before a fight you must choose a team of warriors and then place them in the arena. I found this part of the game very original and it required a fair amount of planning and startegy. The graphics are pretty good but not to standards set by Halo or Otogi. The sound is terrific, but sometimes sfx come before the attack but this will hopefuly be fixed for the final version, as i hope will the animations, when an archer throws hgis bow the character may block it or take damage before he has fired it. It is very original, and the addictive gameplay will keep you coming back after a new bout. The enemy AI is great, as they rarely do ythe sam thing twice, like jump off a slope or use ceratin attacks. The attacks are also great. instead of being just limited to one or two attacks like Fallout or Diablo, there are a plethora of attacks at your disposal. The game also lasta for ages, even the demo took me ages to pass!
Summing up, get this game as soon as it comes out.

Gladius is a fun and exciting role-playing game.You get to choose from 2 different players, 1 is Valens was taught the arts and literiture and is a skilled warrior and his father owned a training school. Once Valen Finds out his father is murdered he decides to take over and bring it back to former state. But he also finds out there is much more to his fathers ways than just running the school... As for the other player Ursula was daughter of the barbarian king. She had magical powers that no one could explain. Because of this her father kept her sheltered for most of her child hood. But she wants more than just protecttion she wants to be free. The thing that drives her to the gladiator games is her brother Urlan. But her destiny will find something greater...
I give it a 8 in graphics a little ragged. i give the music and fighting sounds a 10. The gameplay is strategic and fun kept me playin for hours i give it a 10. The lifesapn is perfect ammount not to much where you're invincible but not to little where your super easy to kill igive it a 10. I give the funfactor a total 10(if you play it you'll see why). The originnality is 10 there is no other game like it. I rate this game 10!!! I RECOMMEND TRYING THIS GAME!!!!
