The name threw me for a loop. Being an ACTUAL racer I knew the reference, but its relevance to the unique play of this game was lost on me. If not for a glowing recommendation from Xbox Mag, I might have missed it. I had to have Colin McCrae 3 on street date, and since having Apex & Colin3 I have played Apex exclusively since. Yes the graphics really push the Xbox, amazing quality throughout..Cars, tracks, scenary- It all looks amazing. The game play IS cool, forget that its a bit cheesy and dive in, let the idea of running the company engulf you. Sure it could be deeper, but its meant to be a new facet to race games, not a new genre. My roommate and I have won roughly 53 race (top 3) and have unlocked quite a bit, but still more to earn. The track variety is great. Several are "familiar" but carry diferent "apexes". There is nothing wrong with the size or length of the tracks. I disliked Project Gotham due to short tight tracks, I don't feel this way about Apex. You may find that as your car power increases (the more you play and win) the longer the tracks get. I raced a 2 lap track last night with over 4 min laps (most of the early tracks are 2min & under). I have honestly played or own every race game on several systems, and this game has proven that it, so far, is among the top 3 ever. PS2 will never have a game this good (looking) it simply is not technically possible. And the best part is, they can only get better! This is why I bought Xbox over the competition. I know racing, and THIS is racing.

Is this game a joke? The only reason it gets credit at all is because it looks so good. The sound effects are horrible little crunches when you're rubbing up against a car and the solar flares while nice in RPG's or something like that are really pointless in driving sims. Gameplay leaves something to be desired as the steering is more sensitive than anything should be, and heaven forbid you TOUCH a wall or the brakes 'cause you will pretty much be in last place. There is no progression from easier races to impossible. You can change the settings between easy, normal, and stupendously ridiculously hard...but that's the only candle it holds to PGR. Apex sounded like a fantastic concept for a driving sim that FINALLY allowed you to design your own cars...maybe it does...I don't know...I couldn't stand playing it long enough to find out...and I'm definately not keeping it longer than it takes me to get back to the store to return it. This game is just another example of the numerous failed attempts to create a racing game that is comparable to Gran Turismo 3, and anyone stupid enough to throw out the reciept for this game deserves whatever they get. I am honestly considering selling my XBOX and ALL of my games just because I fear they will be tainted by the stench that is Apex.

Ok heres how i goes. I rent this POS game from my local video store cuz the graphics on the box looked cool. I was hoping that something might finnaly rival the top dog of racing games which is Grand Turismo 3.....I was up for a rude awakening. Yes the graphics were pretty good but now a days thats pretty much expected out of any game. Gameplay i mean come on its worthless. There is no way anyone who has ever actually driven a real car could mistake these cars for handeling remotely the same way. There is no realism too it. The people who made this musta rode their bike to work every day. Second i started reading some of things other people said about it, i just couldnt continue. They were too painful to read. If anyone is actually into racing get Grand Turismo 3 for PS2 the only other halfway decent racing game ive found is TXR0...Thinking about it this doesnt even deserve the 1 i am giving it if i could go lower i would.

Maybe it is because i cleared all the tracks with in a few days and unloced all the acarde cars. The actualy concept of the game is great owning your own company and building the cars the only thing i did not like is that you only get to build one dream car at the end which was really $#< remove me > at !y. The graphics were great but i will be returning it to the video store and might buy it if i can find it fairly cheep. The cars all seemed to drive nicely after you got a little bit of time behind it and i never had a problem passing other cars i just made them crash that was the funest part.

Yes it is.This game gives you what you want from a raceing game.The graphics are great(the city levels ar spectacular!)the sound leaves a little bit to be worked on but thats just a road bump.The controls are pretty easy though they do hurt yor fingers after a while.Creating your own cars is the best feature of the game by far.I wanted to be able to design my own cars but the ones they have are cool too.Overall this game is very good.There are some things that need improvement or more creativity but i can live with it.

Most people i have read said this is a great/realistic racer. if you want realism get Sega GT 2002. The tracks suck horribly, i think the fastest i gone on one is 110 MPH. The cars look way to futuristic and made up. I love the concept of the game and the graphics are great, but this is the most fusturating game ever because you CANNOT pass the other cars, they are always faster than you on the straights then they block you if you do manage to catch up.

This is truly the best racing title to date for this console, Surpassing Project gotham, (The true crap tracks)!! While the collision detection needs a lota work, Graphiclly this game is gorgeous, The AI is relentless! The track & car models are sweet, not to mention the prototype cars. While the story mode could have been a "little more" in depth for the Gearheads, I throughly enjoy playing this game, & cannot wait until the release of an Apex 2!!

First things first, the graphics are beautiful if you want to show-off your XBOX then this is the game. The controls in the game are very nice, and easy to pick up. My only complaint about this game is how short the tracks are. Also out of all the tracks in the game you can only play a few of them when you first start. Same thing about the cars in the game. I hope someone finds some codes for the game soon.

The game has nice visuals, excellent effects and beautiful models... I mean, I am not looking at an RPG here where I'd expect a full-blown plot. The tracks are there, and despite not being speed-oriented, they sure provide a good ride. Cars are awesome, and the idea of choosing a concept car in career mode is very neat. If you're a racing fan and are looking for a nice ride in style, Apex is your game!!

Pesonally I think this game is cool! The graphics are the best on the xbox. There are a whole lot of tracks. And the Supra Evolution looks kind of like the one on Fast and the Furious. The concept cars are cool. The tracks keep getting harder and harder but with your fast cars your b sure to win! And when yor car becomes suped up also the cars that you are against become suped up.

Alright we got a very sneaky game company here. I mean how can they make a car game so realistic? And so controlling? The answer is ATARI... The controll the realism and the reason why its the best... The Cars. After a while you can make your own car. Thats cool. Admit it. Theres almost 80 cars in the game you can unlock. The best racing game is only for one system. :-(

This is a fabulous game in terms of graphics and control. The frames are fluid and the ability to use your own soundtracks rocks. The tracks, however, are CRAP. I dont know about you but I want to RACE, not spend my time in stop and go traffic. Who actually puts a car that can hit 200mph on a mountain road where the "race" never gets above 100? Doesnt make sense to me.

This is the best racing game for XBOX yet. Graphics rock. The courses are a bit cheesy I would like to see more open roads but thats all good. For those that are looking for cheats quit being a bunch of losers. Play the game and enjoy working your butt off to get to the top dont look for a way to the top immediatley or the game wont be fun.

I can't believe how much some people are whinging about how crap this game is. This has to be the best xbox racer aviable. if not even better then Gran Tourismo it has cool cars and easy to learn tracks. So stop whinging and have a bloody go before you say how crap it is.
