Awesome graphics not enough to enjoy this game.26264

Kevin from Windsor ON. Canada says (25/Jun/2003):
In my opinion the best thing that Inside Pitch 2003 has going for it, is the incredible detail put into the ballparks to make them feel as authentic as possible. Minor things such as burned out bulbs in the stadiums lighting, the fireworks display which follows a long-ball hit by the home team, the freeway beyond the centerfield fence at Edison Field or the faded football grid at the Metrodome, makes visiting all 30 MLB stadiums (including one in Puerto Rico) worth while. But for die-hard baseball fans, it isn't enough to make up for the aggravating gameplay or some missing features. For example, fielding is never routine especially when trying to turn a double-play because the fielders often take more time to throw than you would like. Diving for balls is actually comical because of the distance your players cover when they stretch out. I do like the pitching in this game, especially when doing so with camera angle 3 (from behind the pitchers mound), but I find that there are too many strikeouts, too many hits and not enough walks. (I've yet to receive a base on balls) This is also the first sports game I've played which doesn't have any sort of instant replay option at all. It would be nice to view the ballpark, a homerun or a nice defensive play from different angles. Finally, one aspect that I enjoy the most about playing baseball games is managing the rosters as accurately as possible, so it is frustrating to me that I can't go with a 6 man bullpen (which most teams use), because the game won't allow you to trade a position player from your roster for a pitcher on the free agent list. You can only trade fielders for fielders and pitchers for pitchers. Every summer I look forward to playing a baseball season, and I always look for the most authentic game I can find. Hopefully Microsoft will spend a little more time on next seasons edition and make Inside Pitch the best simulation on the market.

Good, but.....26264

Tony Baugher from Charleston, MO USA says (22/May/2003):
I was immediatley impressed with Inside Pitch due to the RPG factor being added to the game. I am a sports only kinda guy, but I miss the Baseball Stars (NES) aspect of the game. Remember the good ol' days, when you could build your player from the ground up, well you can again. Several training levels are available to transform your player from a punchin judy Doug Dascenzo, to a steroid raged, corked bat hittin' punisher like Ablert "don't call me joey" Bell.
The only down fall comes from the same part of the game. A few of the training levels are impossible to complete. Trust me on this one.
I do have to admit that the Online Feature is both easy and LONG overdue. Overall, I would have to rate this game a total of **Chicken** out of a possible **Pot Pie*
