man this game is awsome | | tib from farmville,VA says (20/Sep/2003): | man this game is awsome i just bought it and i love it it has the best graphics i have ever seen man i wish every one had this game. this game has a season mode wear youm can play as brock lestner or you can play as a charecter you created. this game even has a mode wear you can create diffrent teams and make diffrent entrences using your songs or the songs on the game. i like the fact that you can edit the tigatron to say a certin message and the game even has goldburg on it so to all the people who were thinking about purchacing it do it you will love the game i promise

well I've played every wrestling game even the one for super nintendo And I have to say wwe raw 2 is the bigist BOMB oute of them all.
accept sorry to say but after 2,3,4,months it got so borring i couldent breath but now it's fun again.
and to be honest thats what i like the game is it gets boaring then you don't play it for 2,3,4,A month and youre back at it again.
thats kindof why i rated it a ten.

| Hmmm | | Justin from Cincinnati, OH USA!!! says (16/Dec/2003): | I like the game personally, though I agree with alot of people, it needs alot more work, I think the AI could use alot of work, theres no real challenge to win the matches, there needs to be more things to un lock, there needs to be blood, I expected blood when i bashed someone in the face with a chair, graphics were good in my opinion, though some of the graphics needed a bit more detail like the crowd that looked like something from the sims, and the chanting...WHERES THE CHANTING?!?!?! and lets be real about this... where the hell is JR and KING?!... in my own opinion the two best WWF/WWE games ever made were no mervy and wrestlemania 2000 for N64... this is XBOX were talking about not that knock off ps2... or game cube... xbox... were supposed to have everything. create a star is cool, there needs to be more entrance options, it would be nice to time the walk and what not, ide like to time the entrance itself and a few other things... the broods entrance and music would be nice even though they are gone... wheres all the oldies? anyway im going to stop ranting now... all in all its a half n half game...theres always been bad and good when it comes to wrestling...

Most of you....well..freaks arent true wrestling fans at all..i have been a wrestling fan all of my life and am not about to stop. When something like Raw1 for example comes out I dont b..ch and moan about every little flaw it had. I admit it had alot of flaws but that didnt stop me from playing it. Now when people have to diss Raw2 i just shake my head and pitty them. I think that Raw2 is a huge step up from Raw1 and the story mode might be lacking some story..but if you're a REAL wrestling fan you could still get into it and end up picking up the controller at 10am and not putting it down for hours. Ill just have to agree with the smarter reviewers and give Raw2 the props it deserver..a big fat 10,from a REAL wrestling fan.

There is no story lines like in HERE COMES THE PAIN for the PS2. It has no action, no adrenaline, the thing of putting your own songs was great, or editing your characters, is awesome too. But its damn boring to see that season mode, just skipping all matches, and wondering if you do a surprise attack on someone, if you call someone, or set a trap for a wrestler and those "enemies" that the game put you randomly.
In my opinion GREAT GRAPHICS, GREAT GAMEPLAY, bad FUN FACTOR, like someone said after a few days the game does not have any more to leech from it. In HERE COME STHE PAIN, you can play season over and over again and get diferent entertaining story lines.
If RAW 3 is coming out PLEASE DO A RESPECTFULL WRESTLING WWE FOR THE XBOX (well old WWF was the thing, WWE nowadays sucks!).
Well Legends showdown is coming in, so i guess we gamers have another choice. CYA ALL

THQ needs to drop anchor and stick with yukes (or hopefully get back AKI). Good news--tons more features. Updated roster, more match types, more arenas(unlockable)and a supposed better story mode (I haven't tried yet). Bad news--gameplay stinks. A little bit better than raw 1 but still awkward, slow, and does not flow naturally. You can stick all the other features, because last time I looked this was a wrestling game, and the most important feature (WRESTLING) sucks. Refs 3 count takes like 7secs. My 1st match was like 18 mins and I had to quit because I was bored. Not many moves, so very repititious. WMXIX is much better. It may lack some of the stuff raw has(good story mode) but the basic element of WRESTLING is in there and very strong, very fun. Graphics are good but the wrestlers do look weird. Their arms are too small for their bodies. Entrances are decent so far--nothing too special. Crowd is not as amped as WMXIX, no chants so far but dull anyhow. I do not believe that there is blood in this game (weak). Funfactor out of 10 is a 6.5 I may not have given this game a fair try but it has been very boring thus far. If you own only xbox and are a big wwe fan than give it a shot. If not save your money. I'd rather have WMXIX or wait for Smackdown HCTP.

This game is great it lets you change everything. if you don't like the fact that Lita's using the Hardy Boys music, change it. you dont like the outfit Stephanie McMahone is wearing, change it. you don't want Victoria doing some stupid slap, change it. you wish stone colds entrance had alot of pyro, change it. The season mode is top notch, you can steal items, set a trap, interfear, do a run in, complain, call out, rest, or just do nothing. The only down side to all this is you risk your energy bar when you attempt any of that stuff. Than the story mode gets real interesting when you play it with you and three of your friends. there are only two things I don't care for in the game and they are, 1. the in game music if you turn it off it also turns off the music for all the in game superstars that are using in game music, and 2. the create-a-wrestler mode is not as deep as Smackdown 4, but this is minor stuff compared to all the good stuff. Finally the Xbox has an awsome wrestling game.

It has a great story mode. The hell in the cell is pretty awesome too. The entrances are great. Its like watching wwe live on tv. Great game! The create a team mode is pretty cool too. This is an all around GREAT game.

While control and shakey graphics are a minor conscern the rest of the game more than makes up for it. The largest roster of characters since Capcom vs. Marvel, ripping your own tracks onto the game, The momentum meter, everything has been built to harbor to the true wrestling fan. Though, gamespeed is a tad slow and you can't go to backstage areas (as far as i know) this game is the step in the right direction and it reminds me of the WWF Attitude game with it's ability to make entrances and even (gasp) your own Titantron Videos!!! While it may not be perfect it is a superb game and I recommend it to anyone, wrestling fan or not. WWE RAW 2: Ruthless Aggression!!! Get Ruthless!!!

Only problem is story line isnt that good, hard to do superstars finishing moves and I get ever get a title shot, hell lita gets a title shot before I do. If you have any hints let me know. | still so far away | | F. hawk from missouri, USA says (26/Sep/2003): | ok, i was pretty excited to try this game out. now when i started i was ready to play the new raw 2. all the hype was about to be put to the test....let me begin. create mode is worthless.they all look the same, its junk. second kanes mask? whats the deal? his video has him without it why is he wearing it? next were are charlie hass and shelton benjamin? im sure they would be more fun to use than , lets say mark henry or william reagle, seriously now. also rey mysterio looks just wrong, the you enemys actually help you in ring instead of hurting (whats the deal there) and the no voice-no text season? come on, how hard would it have been to put some text in there?
now the graphics are decent, as i have only played playstation 2 so far, and i think they look ok. the entrance music is very cool, that saved me some pain when i saw that...game play is weak..doing a submission sounds like you stepping on a pile of m&m's , over all this game is a rental at best. unless your rich or just have bad taste.
| should have been waaaaaay better | | A gamer from California, USA says (29/Sep/2003): | as a wrestling game it is pretty good in itself. the features and the characters have a lot to be desired though. the one thing i have a huge problem with is the lack of current wwe superstars to choose from. they have chuck palumbo with his fbi music but there's no johnny stamboli or nunzio? you have guys that arent with the company anymore like hogan, well then why is there no jeff hardy? you have chris nowinski but no maven? they have bradshaw but no farooq? it just makes no sense why you would have these guys and not others. they are missing huge stars like shelton benjamin, charlie haas, rodney mack, rosey, zach gowen, spanky, eric bischoff, & shane mcmahon. it makes absolutley no sense!!!!!!!! there are also not enough match types and you cant even fight up the ramp. there are empty announce tables (no announcers at all) and why does kane have a mask in the game but not on his titantron video? the create mode is decent, not much of an improvement from the first raw as far as i'm concerned. this game has an enormous amount of flaws to it. i am a big fan of both video games and wrestling, i just wish the game makers out there had some idea as to how to incorporarte the two. (just a side note, wwe doesnt even advertise for this game on tv, all its ads are for wrestlemania on gamecube, they must know the game's wak too)

I love the Smackdown games especially the PS2 ones and when I first got an xbox I was hugely disapointed in Raw. So I thought, maybe they were getting used to the 'system' they were using eg the hardware. So I waited rather patiently I might add, I heard th hype etc and slowly my expectations were creeping up.
Then it came.
I made a grave error in having an exhibition at first with 3 of my mates... It was... Graphically very good I thought, but sluggish. I know the PS2 pads are a million times better, I mean lets face it, they wont be beaten, but the actual gameplay is sluggish and slow.
They opted to go for a grapple then move system, but somehow made it poorer than No Mercy's.
Wrestlemania2k introduced it and it was ok. Different. Not as good as smackdown but better than the -> -> X Idea for manouvres. the No mercy raised the bar, to its peak really.
So why they opted for these controls beggars belief... but the question as to why the made them worse is even stranger!!!
So the game rolled on... It became clear than some of the trademarks where there, I was Rvd, my friends were Jericho, Kane and Benoit.
The colision detection at first seemed good but then became annoying. It became a huge hash up of moves been broken by a punch etc. Bodies everywhere. But the most annoying thing was the targetting. Auto target? Nope. So if someone is behind you punching you, it doesnt focus, so you have to manually change. Very annoying.
Then there is create a character.
Hmmmm...
Jury is still out on this one.
Very cool idea to have backstage/casual costume. But the whole process was somewhat lacking I thought. There was alot of very cool things and while I cant say Smackdowns is better, I cant say this is either.
The moves def arent as good, there is some nice touches, the chair shots are great fun, but the lack of depth is startling when compared to Wrestlemania2k... never mind No Mercy and thats not even considering Smackdown!
Where it excells is the entrance's. The whole process can be tiring... probably taking longer than the rest of you customization altogether but once its done its magnificent and truly individual. You can upload songs and make your own Titantron video!!!
However as you go on, you will almost certainly skip your entrance, so the novelty wears off very quickly.
So onto the career.
Forget all the hype about what you could do etc. Its the 4 player mode that got me excited. Not since the very foirst smackdown has there been a good m-player career.
This while lacking in gameplay makes up for in ingenuity. However the major problem with it is, you could have a feud with Brock Lesnar... For 2-3 months... and at the huge ppv, get Spike Dudley. Also, there is a lack of belts. So most matches are nothing more than timewasting. And as for the so-called special matches??? Well you hardly and I mean hardly ever get them. Tag matches are a whole different story... first off you control both guys... secondly you are always gettin pins broke up by yours and your opponents partners???!
Plus when your enemy runs out... they attack your opponent?!!!! Unexplainable!!!!
The career did have alot of good things, the stealling, the setting traps... the managing etc etc but not enough depth in the idea. Why there is no txt is a huge question. Most of the time the guys come out wave there arms etc and you dont have the faintest clue whats going on... deeming the whole cutseen pointless.
All in all I'd say the game got brave and tried alot of new things, and while I may seem overly critical the game does have alot of flaws which STILL exist from Raw. This means any expectations I had were doomed from day 1! In saying this there are a few fun moments and it can be fun when playing with friends but my advice is save your £50 etc and pay a friend to let you play Here Comes the Pain.

And I'd have to say the people on this website are crazy. this games awesome i don't really see anything wrong with it I love it. I mean come on ps2 you can't put your favorite music and you can't do that with gamecube either so that's a plus. Now don't get me wrong i love smackdown. I've got all of them.And i plan on buying the next one that is if my ps2 doesn't crash on me first. Yeah that's right all you people who want to get rid of xbox and a ps2..trust me that would be a big mistake.I've had my xbox and ps2 for about the same amount of time.But i have gone thru 2 ps2's and haven't had problem one out of my xbox.BUT MAYBE it's just me.Our how many people have had the same problem with their ps2.It doesn't want to read any of the games that they make for it? well maybe it's just me....but xbox rulz ps2 sucks but the games are cool

In the first one if the guy was down you could just keep kicking up and he would stay down, it would take for ever if the computer kept you down. The controls are about the same but with more characters and neat story lines it makes up for it. In the start with the newest Raw video when it first comes on the air is awesome but a little slower than the originl Raw beginning, but hey, its like the real show. One problem is that it does not say what the controls are in the Options, either that or I am dumb enough not to find it. This is one of the better games of the WWE wrestling games put out ever since Raw Is War on Nintendo. and that was many years ago, so things are looking up and if more games for WWE come out, and it gets better each time, the WWE game industry with go through the roof.
