WWE RAW 2: Good or Bad? | | Inuyasha Shirosenshi from Tokyo, Japan says (24/Jan/2004): | I think WWE RAW 2 is an awesome game exept for the fact that they don't include Jeff Hardy, J.R. and King, Shane McMahon, the Elimination Chamber and Buried Alive Match. Also you cannot decide if you accept a match or manager. But the ladder matches I think are easy if you can get the twenty foot ladder. Season mode isn't bad either. I have found a few websites that tell you how to create people like Jeff Hardy, The Incredible Hulk, Catwoman, Al Snow, ect. I am not allowed to tell you what those websites are. If you really need to know what those sites are, email me. But I still think it is an awesome game and wouldn't trade it for one hundred dollars. That is how good I think this game is. Unlike other people, who think this game really, really sucks (who I totally disagree with)some people think this game rocks. I personally think THQ did a good job on making this game. | it's awsome but can be better | | matt from fair haven NY the U.S says (23/Jan/2004): | ok... ive played most all wrestling games from nintendo to playstation to n64 to gamecube to playstation 2 to xbox and the best ive played was WWE RAW2 and ive read all the reviews to all the people who think it sucks well $#< remove me > at ! u guys cause until they make a raw3 (i dont know if they are but i hope so) raw 2 is better than any smackdown game since smackdown to smackdown2just bring it tosmack down shut your mouth to smackdown here comes the pain they all SUCKED!!!! then me and my friend had no mercy for a while and it was ok except no lita but the fact was that it was a awsome game it had everything back when wrestling wasnt broken up into raw and smackdown and it was awsome then when they came out with gamecube they had wrestlemania IIXX it was ok it wasnt like awsome i love it im gonna play it every day it was hard to get the controls memorized but when u did it was ok then they came out with wrestlemania IXX thats ok my friend still has his game cube and he still has it and ive played it a buch of times but the controls are still the same allitle confusing but then there was wwf raw and i played it it was good but no story mode and it did have the hardcore belt (my favorite , cause theres no rules for it, a guy couldve come out of no ware and took it) it was ok except for the graphics then finally they came out with raw 2 and i rented it and it was awesome because the first thing i did was create my guy $%!< remove me > at (*( and he rocked in season mode until i was tag tem w/ rey mesterio and he seemed to suck when i taged him and he seemed to suck so then after i won cause i tagged back i whent to cas mode and i whent to rey mesterio and i checked out his moves SUCKY!!! and so i made them better alot better and then i lost all three of my titles with $%!< remove me > at (*( and then deleted him and then played 1 year with rey mesterio and i was rockin then i decided that he looked gay so i made him look awsome and made his mask black with blue highlight and added his misc i cant remember which number and gave him awesome jeans with blue flames and then i made like 5 more people like back-ups incase i lost all my new titles (world,wwe tag team, world tag team, cruiser weight, royal rumble, and king of the ring and im goin for the wwe to be the undesputed and i cant get womens so..any way i love it i play it every day and i rule if there was xbox live for like royal rumbles tournements and king of the rings if u saw rey mesterio in there u would fail any way if u get it make a superstar or make one better beacause regular ones suck i got to go so dont diss this game get it and for that idiot who put whares the f-u just give him the death valley driver (duuuhh) .

But i hate swinging like a monkey in a ladder match. I wich there was eliminatiot chamber and iron man match.overall its the best wrestling game yet. also they need announcers and blood. cmon there is blood in the real wrestling so why not in a game??? Also there is supposed to be 6 people in the ring in an royal rumble. Also they should have a 30 man over top rope match and have a 20 man battle royal. rent it b4 you buy it though just to make sure. i like how you can create your own character and take the music off you xbox hard drive. | Why New WWE Games Suck | | Aaron from guelph, ontario, canada says (12/Jan/2004): | First, I played Wrestlemania XIX for Gamecube... I noticed how stupid the story mode was, REVENGE? What the hell? Oher than that, it was great for playing with a bunch of friends but, whatever.
Then I played Smackdown Here Comes The Pain... people say this game is by far the best wrestling game ever... but why the hell can't they just make a game that has all the good stuff in it? First of all, you start playing the game, and you are in awe by how the graphics are, but then you play, and maybe being a wrestling game maniac, you still keep gettin yer ass kicked by the computer, even on the lowest skill level. I know you gotta practice, but DAMNIT, why do I wanna practice all day, and still get my ass kicked? The AI is just too strong.
Then... I go and buy an XBOX, and I buy the crappiest wrestling game I ever played, thats right... WWE RAW 2... and not even called "Ruthless Aggression" like it was SUPPOSED TO BE CALLED!. The fact is, on the game, there is no dstinction or seperation between RAW and Smackdown superstars, and you cannot decide which one to be afiliated with for each superstar. The create an entrance mode in ceate a wresler mode is the crappiest yet, except for custom soundtracks and entrance music, but thats it. The royal rumble mode sucks, there is no Elimination Chamber, no 6 or 8 man tag match types and the table match is so bloody hard I get pissed off with it. The ladder match is by far the stupidest ladder match type yet for any wrestling game yet. I can press the buttons lightening fast, but ARGH, the other superstar ALWAYS GETS IT! And it takes 5 minute to get the damn belt even after jumping for it!
Also the season mode sucks... there is very limited say. Also, I can't get the friggin title shots! Everytime I DO happen toget a title shot, it's a damn ladder match! THQ should go and suck butt for making such a fooled up game like this, making people beleive it's the best wrestling game availabe, suckering people like me into buying it. For God's sakes, even the screenshots I saw from previews before hand, arent even close to what is actually in the game.
I only gave this game a 1 because I previously had a worst game of all time... but this now makes that other game sound as fun as HALO. Seriously, i'm so ticked off at this game for many good reasons. Te previews were WRONG!

This game so easily beats all wrestling games so far!! There were 3 things I didn't like. First it didn't have Jeff Hardy, second no blood and third were are hell are J.R and King??????. All the rest rocks specially the graphics. Creat a superstar rocks. The best type of matches I liked were Hell in a cell, Table, ladder and chair and street fights. I had to wait so long to get this game but what I think it worth all that waiting and money. Over all I think every wrestling fan should have this game. I think this the best game THQ has made so far. This game so easily can be named the best game of the year. Until Raw 3 (if there is going to be such thing) I think I can Wait because I have got Raw2.

Most of you....well..freaks arent true wrestling fans at all..i have been a wrestling fan all of my life and am not about to stop. When something like Raw1 for example comes out I dont b..ch and moan about every little flaw it had. I admit it had alot of flaws but that didnt stop me from playing it. Now when people have to diss Raw2 i just shake my head and pitty them. I think that Raw2 is a huge step up from Raw1 and the story mode might be lacking some story..but if you're a REAL wrestling fan you could still get into it and end up picking up the controller at 10am and not putting it down for hours. Ill just have to agree with the smarter reviewers and give Raw2 the props it deserver..a big fat 10,from a REAL wrestling fan.

The graphics are great.Their finishing moves are so realistic (especcialy rey mysterio's 619)The sound is terrific (who cares if there is no voices)and the controls are great to.I love table and hell in a cell matches. BUT, the best of everything in the game is easily season mode. me a friend just played season for about 4 hours straight. Whats so good about this i hear u say. well you have a whole year (in the game)to be prepared for wrestlemania. so you have different matches some for belts some are just a friendly match. you different wwe outlets. like raw and smackdown and ppv. you and some other people have one match each every ppv or whatever. you have a list of options that gives you a choice to do things like attack someone you hate (i hate brock lesnar, a-train, kurt angle and matt hardy ( because he cheated against rey mysterio at wrestlemania 19. now back to raw 2. you could set a trap, you can steal stuff, you can just rest and thats about it. so bassicaly this is best wrestling game i've ever played. rey myserio 619...............................................................................................................................

I haven't played SD:HCTP, but I have played SYM, and RAW 2 surpasses the SmackDown series by leaps and bounds. The graphics rule, the Create a Superstar and Create a Team mdes rock, and season is pretty cool too. Overall the game is well done, and a vast improvement on RAW 1.
SEASON
The season mode is well done, and due to the undefined nature of the matches is a great challenge, even if the WWE and World Titles change hands once or twice a month, which seems unrealistic, and hard to get the title shot when you want it.
EXHIBITION
The exhibition mode is cool, with some fun match types. Some are missing, which I have listed below, but the rest are good, except anytime you try to grab the belt in ladder and TLC matches.
CREATE A SUPERSTAR
The hundreds of parts in the CAS mode are amazing, and make it hard to create two identical superstars (unless you go to clone.) In RAW 1, there were only around 50 different things, making it too easy to make two guys the same.

- Matches such as Elimination Chamber, Casket, Ambulance, Bra and Panties, Survivor Tag etc.
- Create your own moves, entrance moves and taunts
- Intercontinental, European, and US Titles

| Hmmm | | Justin from Cincinnati, OH USA!!! says (16/Dec/2003): | I like the game personally, though I agree with alot of people, it needs alot more work, I think the AI could use alot of work, theres no real challenge to win the matches, there needs to be more things to un lock, there needs to be blood, I expected blood when i bashed someone in the face with a chair, graphics were good in my opinion, though some of the graphics needed a bit more detail like the crowd that looked like something from the sims, and the chanting...WHERES THE CHANTING?!?!?! and lets be real about this... where the hell is JR and KING?!... in my own opinion the two best WWF/WWE games ever made were no mervy and wrestlemania 2000 for N64... this is XBOX were talking about not that knock off ps2... or game cube... xbox... were supposed to have everything. create a star is cool, there needs to be more entrance options, it would be nice to time the walk and what not, ide like to time the entrance itself and a few other things... the broods entrance and music would be nice even though they are gone... wheres all the oldies? anyway im going to stop ranting now... all in all its a half n half game...theres always been bad and good when it comes to wrestling...

The gameplay is just as bad as the original RAW yet they managed to %$#! it up even more than before. The hell in a cell is lame, although falling through is decent. The graphics look like crap all the time and they're still missing half the themes.
The only good things in this game are:
1. Completely custom intros for CAWs (right down to timing pyros)
2. Options available during season mode
3. It's not Super Wrestlemania
That's about all there is good about the game. The engine is complete #$%< remove me > at , the graphics are pitiful, the AI is non-existant, the weapons suck, the moves are poorly animated, where the hell is the F-U?, why does Rey Mysterio look like %$#< remove me > at ?, why can't ANYONE get the timings right for Kane and RVD's entrances?, and just why the hell did I ever believe that THQ would make a good wrestling game for any system except PS2?

Video games are going to hell in a handbasket. Too many stupid people allowing stupid, bad games get produced, and too many idiots buying them and thinking they're the greatest things since sliced bread (another evil contraption, that rules out freak breadknife accidents from the survival of the fittest right there).
Stop making such bad games and make more good ones like Halo and Star Wars: KOTOR.

At last a quality WWE game for the Xbox. Unfortunately this is not it! I have read the other reviews and I don't think people are playing the same game. Maybe they're just psuedo wrestling fans. There are so many problems with this game. The graphics, animation, Fantastic! That is pretty much where it stops. There is not enough options for gameplay. The season is boring and boderline dumb. There are so many things missing from this game it is stupid. Where is the BLOOD!?! WWE has blood!!! Sports games have annoucers, and no one ever seems to get tired of them saying the same thing 1000's of times over. Where the HELL is King and Jr.!?! There's no Vince McMahon! Let me repeat! This is a WWE game and there is NO Vince McMahon. Are you on CRACK!?! Where's Shane? Jeff Hardy? I want to see a wrestler bring the belts ringside like they do in the show they don't leave it in the locker room.
I could go on and on about how disappointing this game is. I had so much faith in THQ. I guess I will have to dust off my N64 and break out WWF NO MERCY. That to date is the Most complete wrestling game for WWE. I strongly suggest that THQ take that game and update it for the Xbox. Until then anyone want to buy a slightly used copy of WWE RAW2, sell or trade.

I have never played a Raw game before cause i jus transfered from PS2 to XBox. And honestly this game makes me wanna go back to PS2 for Smackdown Here Comes the Pain. Raw to have some pros, such as the graphics, SOME features in Season, an the creating entrances. Other than a few pros in season mose it was boring, went by to fast, an sucked!! Also create a player mode sucks!! You dont have near as many features to add to ur character as you get on Smackdown, ect. piercings, tatoos, facial hair, multiple sets of clothing, instead of 1 upper body item an 1 lower! The sound was OK, i would prefer to hear some action from Jr an King, or even Al Snow an Coach. Honestly i love to see my characters entrance, after i win a title, so i can watch my character walk out with a title around his waste. Raw 2 didnt give me that. After winning that tag titles my guys hugged!!! Common now and it was wit Kane, you think Kane is gonna give a hug after winning a match!! Also i went throught a long process of being nice to a lady so she will eventually become my mananger, an when she said she would she never escorted me to the ring!! Common managers always comin to the ring wit there wrestler. Other than the few pros, then game had a ton of dis-likes. Overall this game gets a 2 an i will never play it again!! Hopefully Raw 3 will keep me from goin back to PS' Smackdown

Well, first off, Raw 2 is a hell of alot better than what Acclame {Spelling please?) came up with. I mean those games back then for the 64 just blew goats until the cows came home, and then they blew the cows!!!!! Now when THQ and AKI came into the WWF/WWE Contract of making games..now those were games!!! The CAW was the best out there, you could choose tattoos of real wrestlers which I found cool. I mean, what if you wanted your wrestler to idolize Taker? You could use his Tattoos!!!! Nooo, now they don't allow such things in the new games. That sucks if you ask me. I admit Raw 2 is a hell of a lot better than Raw 1, but think of this. In raw 1 when someone ran down at YOU, they ATTACKED YOU! not the opponent who they probably don't hate. That part I found about as stupid as a pet rock. The graphics are okay, but what is the deal with THQ only allowing the Smackdown! Games to allow realistic hair movement? I mean, who in the hell in wrestling actually hair their hair stuck to their neck?! The whole pinning over and over thing gets annoying. Makes me want to go out and smack the THQ game developers right upside the head and take over. The whole story mode deal wasn't a bad effort, but what is the fun of beating someone up back stage if you can only tackle them and kick/punch them? Where are the suplexes and DDTs back stage? ( A little helpful hint to THQ for RAW 3) and why in the blue hell did THQ scrap the back stage brawling that was promised for Raw 2? Did you all fall asleep at the keyboard? Well, that is enough of my ranting and complaints about the game. If you are wondering why I gave this game a seven for score...thats because, its grappling system is better than anything I've played since NO MERCY. ( I Missed my 64 btw)

Xbox THQ and all others who had a hand in making this game had the right idea, the game is soild the gameplay dosn't suck but gets a bit easy after awhile. Create A Superstar must be the only thing that didn't lack anything ( What is a few missing moves ? ) They storylines could have displayed text and yes i agree with most of you on a level that you said the game sucks, sucks not to have the small details which could ( Not Should have ) made the game better. I been playing wrestling games since the Snes and nes days all the way up to the present wrestling game age, and i see big improvement to where hulk hogan could duke it out with lex luger in 2d to where you could create lex luger and have him duke it out with hogan raw 2 style

- Entrance music can be ripped form the xbox hardrive
- Match types are a better thing ( Not those who wanted something that is in Smackdown: Here Comes the Pain )

- Heavyweights pose to much of a challenge ( Brock cheats so dose HHH )
- Evolution works to damn fast ( Orton moves way to quick, Batista is just an animal if he faces the right person )
- Fun Factor -
It's fun to watch up to 6 superstars at a time come in and battle it out in such a fun way, it's fun to see someone like christan and jericho hit the mat form impact of the most dangerous and ever deadly frogsplash which eddie and RVD preform. While we all sit down and take moments to play we have to grasp and pathom that in years it's only going to get better.
- Summary -
Yes it could have been better, as a few post ago someone said " Xbox just got into the wrestling game making " and i have to agree at least it's better then Raw which featured good graphics and yet had very bad almost nightmare like gameplay which became to easy to preform a counter or grapple out of a move. Those who only play wrestling games for " The Perfection " need to show repect at least WWE is even puting out games to sell there massive product i tip my hat to all the coming games which feature new egines of play i also advise you to at least rent it and try it for yourself not on others words :)
| Nothin' Beats Raw 2 | | Jason Boyle from New York says (11/Nov/2003): | 19 months after the horrible raw game comes raw 2. It in my eyes is better than any wrestling game on the market.SMACKDOWN HCTP only has 2 more Inportant match types than Raw 2.Highlights of Raw are:
An unbeliveable Cas with customizable entrances
More match types Hiac, Tlc,Royal Rumble,cage and more
A take control Season mode
Four player season mode
A choice of ref
Much more
The low lights are:
A Bad AI
Poor collision detection
and a couple more minor problems
Overall I would give the game an 8.9/10
