better than raw( not saying much) |
| scott from oklahoma,usa says (5/Oct/2003): |
when raw came out i thought how could someone actually think this was a finished game. it was eye candy only, i had been watching the progress of raw 2 on the web about six months
before it was released seeing that they actually had put more match types, more arenas, season mode and what i thought by the screenshots better graphics. before the game came out the screenshots of rey mysterio looked like rey mysterio, what happened now he looks like a generic create-a-wrestler. here is a list of things that do not make any sense.
1. kurt angle wearing a team angle jacket but there is no team angle
2. kane has a mask but not in the titantron plus his music is still the old version
3. in raw triple h was the main one that they got wrong in raw 2 he's the only one they got right
4. generic forms of music(victoria, rob van dam, etc.)
5. you try to run up the stage and you hit an invisible wall
6. with six guys in the ring gameplay gets as sluggish as an old computer.
7. and what is the deal with nidia's lips MY GOD!!!(that's a huge *%!)
8. wrestler's skin shine like a new model car.
9. where is los guerros actual entrance(lie, cheat, steal and the lowrider)
this game should be called raw 1 cause this is what it should have looked like the ONLY good thing about this game is more wrestlers(not all, not even close) just a suggestion but the next time you make a wrestling game you might try doing more research than renting a two year old wrestlemania tape at the video store. ( thank god for ps2)here comes the pain and belive me raw 2 hurts.

could of been better |
| sam from warwickshire england says (5/Oct/2003): |
the game is'nt bad,but it could of been better, every wrestling game i have played on has a really boring career mode, they really need to come up with a more creative and more exciting career mode, over all the game was'nt to bad but its the sort of game i'l complete and never touch again.

It is so awesome anyone who doesn't like it is NOT A SMART PERSON |
| Lonnie B.C. Hunter from Waldeck Saskatchewan Canada N.W. Hemisphere says (5/Oct/2003): |
WWE Raw 2 is awesome on the career you can Minipulate, set trap,Suprise attack and do many more things.Making your guy is so awesome because you can set the time on the piro and you can have to piro's and you have a bunch of maps it also has over 60 of your favorite wrestlers I recomend you buy it.

WWE Raw 2 |
| Lil HooD from Columbia,USA says (4/Oct/2003): |
WWE Raw 2 is one of the best wrestling games ever it's gameplay is still a bit sluggish and the seasonmode is missing a few good detail's there is no words spoken or written which get's to be ignoring but besides that it is a pretty good game.
The graphic's are awesome.Plus you can rip music off your xbox and use it for character's entrance music. The control's are something like no mercy.the matches are pretty fun accept the A.I. of the game is silly several time's in a match where the cpu will pin you continuously at least 3 or more time's straight.
But if you are a WWE fan than Raw 2 is a must buy.
Graphic's: 9.0
Sound:7.0
GamePlay:8.0
Modes:8.0
FunFactor:9.0

Better than the 1st |
| Rob Tillison from Hilton Head, South Carolina, USA says (4/Oct/2003): |
I first thought that RAW 2 would be like the first one, but I was wrong. In the first one if the guy was down you could just keep kicking up and he would stay down, it would take for ever if the computer kept you down. The controls are about the same but with more characters and neat story lines it makes up for it. In the start with the newest Raw video when it first comes on the air is awesome but a little slower than the originl Raw beginning, but hey, its like the real show. One problem is that it does not say what the controls are in the Options, either that or I am dumb enough not to find it. This is one of the better games of the WWE wrestling games put out ever since Raw Is War on Nintendo. and that was many years ago, so things are looking up and if more games for WWE come out, and it gets better each time, the WWE game industry with go through the roof.

this game could of been alot better |
| soprano from cleveland says (4/Oct/2003): |
this game has the best looking graphics i seen so far but y r the people so damn shiny?and how come kane still wears a mask on this game and lets talk about the season mode.why is it that when i call people out like brock or goldberg no ever comes out but girls also the reason this game blows is because u cant go backstage the ref counts to damn fast when im out of the ring and when i go for a pin i can go to sleep for an hour and he would just be getting to three.what also makes this game retarted is the tag matches every time i go for pin my partner breaks it up. and wheres the blood wheres the king and jr what happen to tazz and micheal cole did forget come to work

It's not as bad as people have made it out to be |
| Jeremy from Mississippi,USA says (1/Oct/2003): |
I've played the first wwf raw. and when i heard that wwe raw 2 was coming out.i started to find out everything i could about the game. And I'd have to say the people on this website are crazy. this games awesome i don't really see anything wrong with it I love it. I mean come on ps2 you can't put your favorite music and you can't do that with gamecube either so that's a plus. Now don't get me wrong i love smackdown. I've got all of them. And i plan on buying the next one that is if my ps2 doesn't crash on me first. Yeah that's right all you people who want to get rid of xbox and a ps2..trust me that would be a big mistake.I've had my xbox and ps2 for about the same amount of time. But i have gone thru 2 ps2's and haven't had problem one out of my xbox.BUT MAYBE it's just me.Our how many people have had the same problem with their ps2.It doesn't want to read any of the games that they make for it? well maybe it's just me....but xbox rulz ps2 sucks but the games are cool

The Bad things .... And the good Things |
| A gamer from Quebec says (1/Oct/2003): |
BAD
1. No BackStage
2. No Old School wrestler ( like the Hitman Bret Hart or Ultimate Warrior ... )
3. No Dialogue in the Season Mode .
4. No BLOOD !!!!!!!!!!!
5. No real Survivor Serie types matches like in the old time ...
6. No commentator in at the table outside
7. No match like Elimination Chamber Match, I quit match, Barb Wire match , Stretcher, Iron Man Match ... U Know ???
8. Only 1 profile in season mode at the time
9. Level Hard is pretty easy when you know of to play
10. Only 4 wrestlers at the time in the Royal Rumble Match
11. For the C.A.S. mode there`s a lot of type of attack, but there a lot of attack missing like the Old Shcool Finisher ( Razor Edge, Chiken Wing Submit position, HBK old time Back suplex ... stuff like that)
GOOD
1. GamePlay
2. The Create a Superstar mode if great
3. Grad with items is fun
4. During the season mode, all the kinds of event of the wwf are there ( bad thing that hte event of ecw and wcw were not there
5. Easy to do finisher
6. a lots of attack possible
7. Team attack are fun
8. Season Mode is well done ... but I espect more for RAW:3
9. I like almost everething to be honest
Scuse my English ... this is not my first language

Lets be realistic. |
| Templar_Hunter from Albany, NY, USA says (1/Oct/2003): |
My friend and I just finished the season mode for Ruthless Aggression. If you dont have a belt at the end of the season the game is over. I think, but I could be wrong, that even if you do have a belt at the end of the season the game is over. Reminicent of the days of the old nintendo with techmo bowl. You could pick from a small number of teams to play a season with but regardless of how you finished the season, the game ended after the superbowl and the only way to play another season was to repeat the previous one with the same team or choose another team. Even the best of games gets stale after a bit if the element of infinite possiblities is nonexistent.
Not that I think it is proper to compare a wrestling game to a football game but in the circumstances there are some key points that apply. For those who do remember, TechmoBowl had a sequel, called SuperTechmo Bowl. It improved upon the original by getting actual permission to use nfl teams, rosters and the complete 1991 season schedual(I think) and any 2 teams could battle it out for the year and possibly get to the superbowl etc etc. However again the continuous multiple season play mode was beyond our reach and the player had to settle for repeating the same schedual year over and over until madden 94 or 95 for the super nintendo and its rival at the time the sega genesis. (Yes this is still about WWE Raw2 be patient) At which time at the completion of a season you could select from 2 preprogrammed alternate seasons to sort of continue into future possibilities but it too had its limits. It wasnt untill the advent of the playstation and the SPS that Franchise mode gave players the depth of infinite possibilities in their game. Finally players could take control of their favorite team and guide them through a season and then perform the off season tasks like drafts and free agent acquisition that made the game seem more like a virtual NFL. How does this relate to Raw2? I think the smart readers already see where Im heading.
Raw2 is very close to being the perfect WWE game. Very close indeed on a video game evolutionary standard. It allows for near limitless character creation possibilities and has a very popular music editor that enables the full creation of the character not just his or her appearance. Unfortunatly it is obvious that the developers of this game focused just a little too much on the charachter creation portion of the game. And didnt do enough to make the story line portion of the game as strong as we would have liked.
Thing is, all in all its really not in the interest of any video game creator to make the perfect video game. In fact its really not even in the best interests of the WWE to put out a wrestling game as perfect as we can imagine. If Raw2 had the same kind of infinite progressive season potential that a modern day football game has, it would have 2 major faults.
1 At times players could actually produce storylines that were more interesting to them than those on actual Wrestling. Now Im not saying that there would be a mass abandonment of live WWE action, that would just be ignorant. I am saying however that if you realistically can recreate a exceptionally detailed simulation of anything AND completely control it, why woldnt the simulation be better than the real thing that cannot be controlled. (perfect example- there wouldnt be a market for inflatable love dolls if not for some guys out there who felt that they were an acceptable alternative to the real thing)
2 It would be awful hard to follow the "Best Wrestling Game Ever" with an adequate sequal without breaking the limitations of the console it was on with a more advanced console.
Long Story Short: Not bad, cant wait for Raw3.

awesome but not the best |
| Tre' Dyess from kinder, louisiana, USA says (30/Sep/2003): |
I have to say that it's better than raw 2. But it lacks more characters(Shelton,Charlie,Jeff, etc). And no blood! it's got to get brutal in the TLC and Hell in the Cell matches. The thing that gets me is that Kane has his mask. His video shows him with out it. The create a superstar still needs inprovement. But the graphics are awesome. They need some voices in it or at least some messages at the bottom. The Wrestle Mania XIX stage don't look nothing like the real thing. plus their is no unlockable characters in it. c'mon. The Wrestle Mania XIX for Gamecube is better but the graphics SUCK in it. i hope to see inprovement in the next raw game (if they make one). But i do think that it's better than the smackdowns for the playstation 2. Their graphics suck too. but i do like how you can slam your opponet threw 4 parts of the cell instead of just one trapt door. i would like to be able to slam somebody through any part of the cell. but overall it's a good game.

raw 2 is not what i expected |
| OMar from Toronto says (30/Sep/2003): |
I think the game is good put the bad thing is the ladder match unbeated able.I also dont like that it doesn't have elmation chamber. It so hard to unlock new matches. The grahics are good put i know the game creaters can do beater. I bought this when it came out it's an ok game but I think smack down shut your moth is better. You can't even talk to vince or have anywhere fall.In the game you cant hear what manger is saying.I wish in raw 3 we have choices of to say to some one like smack down shut your mouth you get to pick from sentance to say.I also wish raw 3 will have elmation chamber. The story for raw 3 should also make sence unlike raw2.The creater of the game I'm noy trying to say you didn't do good put you can do better. I also wish in raw 3 the ladder matche is possible to win.

Better Than Average,,, Maybe. |
| Neptunes from Scotland says (30/Sep/2003): |
I had huge hopes for this game. I love the Smackdown games especially the PS2 ones and when I first got an xbox I was hugely disapointed in Raw. So I thought, maybe they were getting used to the 'system' they were using eg the hardware. So I waited rather patiently I might add, I heard th hype etc and slowly my expectations were creeping up.
Then it came.
I made a grave error in having an exhibition at first with 3 of my mates... It was... Graphically very good I thought, but sluggish. I know the PS2 pads are a million times better, I mean lets face it, they wont be beaten, but the actual gameplay is sluggish and slow.
They opted to go for a grapple then move system, but somehow made it poorer than No Mercy's.
Wrestlemania2k introduced it and it was ok. Different. Not as good as smackdown but better than the -> -> X Idea for manouvres. the No mercy raised the bar, to its peak really.
So why they opted for these controls beggars belief... but the question as to why the made them worse is even stranger!!!
So the game rolled on... It became clear than some of the trademarks where there, I was Rvd, my friends were Jericho, Kane and Benoit.
The colision detection at first seemed good but then became annoying. It became a huge hash up of moves been broken by a punch etc. Bodies everywhere. But the most annoying thing was the targetting. Auto target? Nope. So if someone is behind you punching you, it doesnt focus, so you have to manually change. Very annoying.
Then there is create a character.
Hmmmm...
Jury is still out on this one.
Very cool idea to have backstage/casual costume. But the whole process was somewhat lacking I thought. There was alot of very cool things and while I cant say Smackdowns is better, I cant say this is either.
The moves def arent as good, there is some nice touches, the chair shots are great fun, but the lack of depth is startling when compared to Wrestlemania2k... never mind No Mercy and thats not even considering Smackdown!
Where it excells is the entrance's. The whole process can be tiring... probably taking longer than the rest of you customization altogether but once its done its magnificent and truly individual. You can upload songs and make your own Titantron video!!!
However as you go on, you will almost certainly skip your entrance, so the novelty wears off very quickly.
So onto the career.
Forget all the hype about what you could do etc. Its the 4 player mode that got me excited. Not since the very foirst smackdown has there been a good m-player career.
This while lacking in gameplay makes up for in ingenuity. However the major problem with it is, you could have a feud with Brock Lesnar... For 2-3 months... and at the huge ppv, get Spike Dudley. Also, there is a lack of belts. So most matches are nothing more than timewasting. And as for the so-called special matches??? Well you hardly and I mean hardly ever get them. Tag matches are a whole different story... first off you control both guys... secondly you are always gettin pins broke up by yours and your opponents partners???!
Plus when your enemy runs out... they attack your opponent?!!!! Unexplainable!!!!
The career did have alot of good things, the stealling, the setting traps... the managing etc etc but not enough depth in the idea. Why there is no txt is a huge question. Most of the time the guys come out wave there arms etc and you dont have the faintest clue whats going on... deeming the whole cutseen pointless.
All in all I'd say the game got brave and tried alot of new things, and while I may seem overly critical the game does have alot of flaws which STILL exist from Raw. This means any expectations I had were doomed from day 1! In saying this there are a few fun moments and it can be fun when playing with friends but my advice is save your £50 etc and pay a friend to let you play Here Comes the Pain.
Neptunes.
Ps.
I agree why ph why is kane wearing a mask when he isnt in his titantron video??? They game even lets you customise certain parts of the actual stars, moves, appearance etc but NOT kanes head!!!
I think Kurt Angle looks very good.
|
should have been waaaaaay better |
| A gamer from California, USA says (29/Sep/2003): |
as a wrestling game it is pretty good in itself. the features and the characters have a lot to be desired though. the one thing i have a huge problem with is the lack of current wwe superstars to choose from. they have chuck palumbo with his fbi music but there's no johnny stamboli or nunzio? you have guys that arent with the company anymore like hogan, well then why is there no jeff hardy? you have chris nowinski but no maven? they have bradshaw but no farooq? it just makes no sense why you would have these guys and not others. they are missing huge stars like shelton benjamin, charlie haas, rodney mack, rosey, zach gowen, spanky, eric bischoff, & shane mcmahon. it makes absolutley no sense!!!!!!!! there are also not enough match types and you cant even fight up the ramp. there are empty announce tables (no announcers at all) and why does kane have a mask in the game but not on his titantron video? the create mode is decent, not much of an improvement from the first raw as far as i'm concerned. this game has an enormous amount of flaws to it. i am a big fan of both video games and wrestling, i just wish the game makers out there had some idea as to how to incorporarte the two. (just a side note, wwe doesnt even advertise for this game on tv, all its ads are for wrestlemania on gamecube, they must know the game's wak too)
|
Could be a little better |
| Jeff from Salem NH, Unitrd States says (29/Sep/2003): |
I think what should happen is that THQ should take all there games and combine them into one. That way there we can have one great game for all the systems except for the creative songs thats for the x-box lol. But any ways I would say everyone would be a little happier. Keep trying and hopefully it will happen. Other wise the game is much better than the last.
|
I care more about game modes than GRAPHICS |
| Arman from Sharon, Mass, USA says (27/Sep/2003): |
hey Today I spent 50 bucks I mean I am happy I have it but I was dissapointed as I expected a better game. I agree going for manager is pretty cool but theirs no storylines which is really stupid I try creating some but I'll fight random people each show which I hate. I was expecting them to come up storylines that would be awesome and perhaps let us be a GM and have a roster and stuff kind of like an Owner Mode for Madden 2004. Whatever I just hope a WWE game for XBOX comes out reeeaaal soon and its MUCH better. You have dissapointed we XBOX Console Owners
|
still so far away |
| F. hawk from missouri, USA says (26/Sep/2003): |
ok, i was pretty excited to try this game out. now when i started i was ready to play the new raw 2. all the hype was about to be put to the test....let me begin. create mode is worthless.they all look the same, its junk. second kanes mask? whats the deal? his video has him without it why is he wearing it? next were are charlie hass and shelton benjamin? im sure they would be more fun to use than , lets say mark henry or william reagle, seriously now. also rey mysterio looks just wrong, the you enemys actually help you in ring instead of hurting (whats the deal there) and the no voice-no text season? come on, how hard would it have been to put some text in there?
now the graphics are decent, as i have only played playstation 2 so far, and i think they look ok. the entrance music is very cool, that saved me some pain when i saw that...game play is weak..doing a submission sounds like you stepping on a pile of m&m's , over all this game is a rental at best. unless your rich or just have bad taste.
|
Good Game, didnt live up to the hype though |
| A gamer from Perth, WA says (26/Sep/2003): |
ok, ok, raw 2 is a pretty good game and has some good poins and some bad points. Good points being that it bosts some of the best graphics seen by a gaming console, excellent CAW (create a wrestler) mode. But like most games, it has its flaws.
How in gods green earth can a woman become the champ, how is it that rediculous tag partners (stephanie and flair for example) can become tag champs? No talkin in the cut seens, not even sub titles, how is it u can miss somethin like that?
I mean come on, some times i think the creaters have got thiers minds focused on the dosh, they forget bout the game they r makin. Still, i like the idea of creating ur own story, instead of doin one already predetermined, although i think in some places they forgot to butter their bread. It makes u wonder, the first raw was, to say the least, sh*t, i thought these developers couldnt possible miss these mistakes and raw 2 would be awsome and not just great. Makes u wonder if they will actually be able top pull off a raw 3. Ok well im done b*tchin now overall it is a great game but like i said b4, its not an awesome game and it should have been

Blow yourselfs losers |
| Butch from El Paso, Texas, USA says (26/Sep/2003): |
Everyone here who thinks this game sucks can blow themselves. The reason, or one of them anyway, is because the x-box gaming system is new at creating wrestling games. Remember, those of you that actually give a $#< remove me > at !,the first smackdown game that sucked as much as the first raw game. All x-box needs is a little more time and alot more of support from the fans. Because comments like these is what forces them to stop making games or wrestling games anyway. So do me and all of the rest of the real wrestling fans a favor, and this is to all of those fake wrestling fans AKA the people who put the game down take your complains and shine it up real nice turn and turn that son of a bitch sideways and stick it sraight up your big fat candyass.

It's no "No Mercy" |
| Sean from Burlington, Ontario, Canada says (26/Sep/2003): |
I have to give credit where credit is due. This game is good. Although it may not be the best (by a long shot) it does have some perks. The one thing that I am really complaining about is the emphasis they tried to put on graphics. I have an Atari wrestling game that has the worst graphics ever, but it's still fun to play. Who cares about graphics, and who cares about music, who cares about the videos. The only thing that will keep avid gamers into it is game play. The controls suck, the tag team in series mode is horrible (only because your partner breaks up the pin for some reason) and the game is way to easy. In the first RAW installment, I found it tricky and not to mention boring, due to the difficulty level. In RAW 2, it is way to easy. The more powerful characters, such as Triple H, tap out within the first two minutes. This lack of challenge makes this a weak game. Some of the aspects of the old games have been lost too, such as the Smack Down mall from No Mercy, and collecting all that crap in WWF Raw. It’s the side things that make the games more fun. The create a wrestler mode is entertaining, but after a few hours you get bored and turn it off. This is where the Smack Down mall would keep you interested in the game. One of the only things I really like about the game is being able to have rivalries and get one of the Wrestling chicks to be your manager…unless it’s Jazz or something, that would just suck. In my opinion they should have just copied WWF NO MERCY for the N64.
|
Even a nintendo 64 wrestling game is more exciting! |
| Vince McMahon from El paso, Texas says (25/Sep/2003): |
Everyone expected to much from the so called "ruthles agression" of Raw 2, but what happened? every xbox user waited more than two years expecting something worth the wait, but what happened? While the PS2 owners had excellent WWE titles each year (Just bring it and Shut your mouth)the xbox's wrestling fans waited to a stupid promess of something that could knock off Smackdown. And all we got was a lame wrestling game that featured as it's "new special matches" TLC and Hell in a Cell, for God's sake! that type of matches existed since playstation one!!!! you could argue about the graphics.... JA! if you see Booker T in RAW 2 is like if you were watching some guy from the Jacksons 5!!!
Please! if you like wrestling and made an error by purchasing a Xbox, sell it to buy a PS2 and enjoy the future best WWE game ever: Smackdown: Here comes the pain. or if you want to stay with microsoft ask THQ for a decent wrestling game.
The bad things:
- poor challenge
- Pathetic gameplay
- No wrestler is like his real counterpart
The good things:
- You can put your own music for entrances
- You can put your own music for entrances
- Doh!!!
