Better than you think! | | Chrisdawg from Fayetteville, N.C., USA says (1/Jun/2003): | Burn out 2 for the Xbox is not some "2 Fast 2 Furious" ripp-off--this game is acctually good! Imagine "Ridge Racer" with CRASHES!!!! Now you get the idea--arcade style control with smooth drift around corners (a la ridge racer). With an acceptable amount of cars to open and some nice tracks to smash stuff on, this is a game worth renting and a must buy for car junkies. The crash mode is my meat & potatos--30 crash levels where the object is to cause as much monetary damage as possible. The Championship mode is where the crash mode, cars, and other X-tra stuff is opened. Not quite as fun as the original "Destruction Derby", but damn fun anyway.
| A wicked game well worth your time and money. | | Steveo from England says (8/Jun/2003): | Burnout 2: piont of impact is a wicked driving game mixing fast and furious style racing with all the boost as well.
If the racing isnt quite to your taste either the excellent multiplayer racing or crash mode is. With loads of extra cars like the oval racer the hot rod and a bunch of souped up fast and furious style racers burnout 2 has all the cars you could want. The crash mode is an excellent way to keep yourself entertained in between races but one downside to it ... Once you get all golds theres no speical car etc...
Still an execellent racer with all the speed yuo could want.
| The Halo of racing games! | | Phantom from Eugene, Oregon says (11/Jun/2003): | With a plethera of cars and tracks and a special crash mode, Burnout has to be the best racer on xbox.
Graphics - 10/10,
the cars look awesome, the tracks look better, and the crashed are breath-taking, as you fly off a jump and t-bone a semi your car completely shadders! It's the coolest!
Gameplay -
10/10. This game has a beutifull arcade style feel to it and frankly is tons of fun. There really isn't a story line but it isn't needed! Racing feels great, but crashing feels awesome, unless you're racing while you crash, then it's terrible...but it still looks awesome. Traffic, traffic, traffic. Gotta love the oncoming traffic, it keeps you on your toes all the time and doesn't let you blink. Seriously, I crashed one time because my eyes were watering from not blinking in three minutes.
sound - 10/10
Glass shaddering sounds like glass shaddering. You can here the matal of your ex-car twisting into an inferno of broken dreams!
the only thing i don't like about this game is that you cant really customize your car of upgrade it in any way. All around though, this game kicks. I have played midnight club 2, sega gt 2002, and project gotham. This game is by far the best racing game out there. Buy it, rent it, borrow it. Get this game!
| The Best Damn Game "." | | SlimmC from MN, USA says (23/Jun/2003): | Burnout 2 is in many ways like greats of the past... Staring intently, red-eyes glued to a scene... or instictive moves dodging at 100 miles an hour... and to not forget to mention all with my very own custom soundtrack... oh yeah... ps2 owners dont get the perks of downloading music onto a box of black proportions... instead they all come to MY place to BURNOUT 2 rubber on the track and jam to some craknin tunes, all while havin a blast... this game is definatly worth a rent... and definatly worth buying... 10!
| SIM DRIVERS NEED NOT APPLY | | Gimpy from Oconto Wi says (1/Jul/2003): | THIS GAME ROCKS... Their is no other way of describing it. This game is not some mediocre Sim like sega gt 2002, no way. Its 100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000X Better and then some. Although Sega gt 2002 boasted tons of liscensed real life cars and some very fine detail, But, It was very boring. Sega Gt 2002 had no real energy and didnt excite or have crashes or damage on cars, Test drive was cool so was apex, But Burnout 2 rules them all with an iron; no wait a titanium fist of awsomeness. No one can compare, not even the 2nd coolest midtown madness. Buy this game and you will not be disappointed. you can easily see, you dont need brand name cars and parts to have fun in a racing game. Crashes are beyond awsomeness and the things you can do are limitless. The sky is not the limit for this game, oh no, its to infinite and beyond.
Remember sim fans, if you perfer graphic and brand name and sane proper racing... well too bad you are missing out on an awsome game. INSANELY FAST RACING AND AWSOME CRASHES AND A PHENOMINAL SELECTION OF CARS. A must buy for anyone, racing fan or not.
| Not bad at all, well... | | Dion from Australia says (6/Jul/2003): | I've read nothing but praise for this game, and its well deserved. But let me contrast this impression with some of the more dissapointing aspects of Burnout 2. Cities throughout the world are occupied by people, except those in Burnout 2? The world is barely dynamic, with traffic appearing in the same places on each lap. You may think consistancy is great on those tight bends, but why should you be the only one to activate that traffic? AI opponents end up getting a free run if there ahead of you!
I cant say too many bad things about Burnout 2, but I dont really want to. This is a favourite of mine, and I think anyone who plays it will respond similarly.
| Fun for awhile | | Tyson Hamabata from Lethbridge, AB, Canada says (13/Aug/2003): | Burnout 2: Point of Impact
This was a fun game for awhile but I beat the game in less than 3 days. And after you have beaten the game there is not much to do after. I was really hoping the pursuit mode would be better. And also one thing in the game is if you use a boost than it seems everyone else in the game goes a bit faster also. And if you crash once it seems they catch right back up to you. Even if you use 7 burnouts in a row. So I would say it is a good game to rent not to buy cause I found it gets old fast. Also some of the crash levels are weird I forget which one it was but to get the gold medal you needed $22mil of damage and in the japanese muscle I think it was I got over $80mil worth.
