| Best fighting game ever, nuff said! | | Matthew from Olathe, USA says (18/Jan/2004): | In my opinion, this game rules all fighting games. I was antsy about a sequel to a game that has ruled my collection of fighting games since 2000. But I was put to ease when I first popped the disc into my XBox. The music is the finest quality that I've heard on any game with the exception of the Final Fantasy series. Graphics of the opening sequence had me ready to see how the game would play. I was suprised to see the same quality graphics as I fought as I did in the fmvs that grace the unlockable theaters and intro, which is somethig that has let me down on others games ie. Mortal Kombat (any of them). Controling my fighters without even reading the instructions on what does what blew my mind. Like some people out there I love to start on the hard levels to truly test myself. I found a fair level of difficulty in doing this, but it just made my victories that much better. This is a game that even my hispanic roommate with no previous gaming experience at all picked up and fell in love with both the graphics and controls. I feel the this game will replace Tiger Woods PGA 2004 as my XBox mainstay. I played SC2 for 10 hours straight. The Weapons Master Mode was as addictive as it was challenging. Now for the only problem is the Exhibition Theater. It let me down as far as the fmvs that seemed too short and not as crisp as bothe rest of the game, and the originals Exhibition Theater. I remember being blown away by the expansive fmvs of the original theaters on the Dreamcast. In short, this game blew me away in all the important catagories. It is the funniest fighting game I've played in the last 3 years. Graphics give you the since of realism and the details that make gamers mouths water. Music that makes you feels a connection with enviroments and gives a soul to these fighters. While there have been other fighting games with better stories, this game kills them in all other aspects. If you are truly a fighting game fan, this game wil give you a new standard to judge the other game by.
| Indeed | | Avid Critic from CA USA says (5/Sep/2003): | Soul Calibur II is a great game possibly the best fighter out there, but it is almost exactly the same as the original soul calibur on the dreamcast,( not in graphics of course...although the DC version did look amazing.) but anyways the moves are almost the same as the last soul calibur, most of them have been taken from the last and put on the new. The only thing I dont enjoy about this game is the extra characters, spawn fits in SCII as much as the GC & PS2 versions
| How can I put this? FREEKING SWEET!!!!! | | Dark Thunder from Toledo, Ohio says (3/Sep/2003): | This game is hands down the best fighting game for Xbox. It even beats out DOA 3, and DOA 3 WAS my all time fave untill now (imagin the words "untill now" were said by a man with a very deep voice.). First there was DOA 3, a great all around but tired and old fighter. Than there was Kacto Chojin, the worst fighter ever created for the Xbox. Than there was that one 2D pile of garbage with those Street Fighter wimps. Than there was Tao Feng, It had a cool but poorly implemented idea called limb damage, I'm sorry but if I broke sombodys arm during a fight they would not be using it to hit me with. Than there was Mortal Kombat Deadly Alliance, personaly I never cared for the Mortal Kombat series but I will admit MK DA was a good game, there was nothing bad about it that I could say. Now we have Soul Calibur II and Spawn HAS slain the competition. This is how the fight went: Kacto Chojin was humilliated with a ring out, Tao Feng took a left hook from Spawns ax and never got back up, That Street Fighter game got hit in the groin with one of Spawns green fire balls, MK DA got juggled into a K.O., and DOA 3 side steped Spawns first attack, landed a sucker punch but didn't live long enough for a 2nd hit. By the way Spawn fits in perfectly and is my best fighter.
| Nothing short of GENIUS. | | A gamer from Roseville, Ca. USA says (27/Aug/2003): | Console specific characters, hours and hours of single player re-play value, incredible graphics (GameCube), perfect sound effects, etc. Best of all is the console specific characters. I have only played the GameCube version and Link plays like he was programed by Nintendo themselves. I have yet to play the other ones yet but I plan on buying the other versions so I can play the other characters. Thanx Namco for making a terrific game in an otherwise tired genre.
