Something's missing......oh, yeah. Fun.39814

Mitch from Atlanta, GA USA says (18/Mar/2004):
I definitely commend Kemco for trying to break into (no pun intended) the stealth genre with Rogue Ops, but there just seems to be something hollow about the game. The gameplay is fairly straightforward and the learning curve is well-paced, but nothing seems to work properly. For instance, why does Nikki side-step like a bad interpretive dancer with a pole up her bum? Why can't she strafe from left to right with a bit more speed? That is my main beef with the game, even though there are a number of other flaws. The graphics are decent, but nothing they're nothing you haven't seen before. The action animations make me want to puke, though. When the action icon appears and you press the button to interact, it looks like the game skips about three-hundred frames of animation. I remember one instance in particular where you have the option to jump up and grab a ledge that would never have been possible to reach, but somehow you can make Nikki disappear, then reappear about six feet in the air with her hands on the ledge. It made for some unintentional amusement, though. Now for the pros. I did enjoy the ability to pick people's pockets, and the stealth kills are fun and innovative. You sneak up behind an enemy and press a button to start the stealth kill sequence. You then have to press the right combination of buttons and d-pad keys, as prompted on screen, in order to pull off the kill.
There were times that I actually found myself having a decent time with Rogue Ops, then I would have to use my gun. I was then sadly reminded of the way Nikki moves left to right like she has two prothstetic legs. Barring the stiff controls, odd animations, frustrating strafing, and the enormous size of Nikki's head, the game isn't too bad. I guess that's a lot to bar, huh? Well, if your looking for a decent stealth action game, and this one happens to be in the bargain bin (that's where I got mine), you could definitely do a lot worse. I just wish that a little more care had been taken with this game. It could've actually been fun, but I guess some people may think getting kicked in the crotch is fun.

P.S. Enjoy the voice acting. Now THAT"S fun! Actually, hilariously sad seems more appropriate. Oh, well.

Its no Splinter Cell39143

A gamer from Orange, NJ, USA says (18/Feb/2004):
I've played Splinter Cell, 007 Nightfire, Indiana Jones, and I must say Rogue Ops was disappointing, I hate the fact that she walks slower when shes armed, and the close up of her pressing the door button everytime I open a door, and why have "save and continue" when you really can't save at the point you want. Theres some cool graphics and I like the flying bug and all, but I woudn't recommend it, it fact of all the xbox games I have this is one I would consider selling.
