It's one of the best games I have played in a long time, It has a kick ass storyline...It takes place in a prison, how cool is that? It's the type of game that really makes you jump outa your seat. I been waiting for a game like this for a long time.
BUY IT! you will not be disappointed.

not bad...40259

miguel from los angeles says (8/Apr/2004):
I have played my share of “survival horror” games and the suffering is a refreshing change from the resident evils and silent hills of the gaming world. As you well know RE and silent hill are geared towards the puzzle solving type of game play and can sometimes get tedious and boring. Sometimes looking for keys can get old. The suffering has very light puzzle solving if you want to call it that, like putting out fires to clear a path and finding switches to activate lights. In the other games mentioned above you must practice ammo conservation in order to advance in the game, this means having to pass up the opportunity to blow off the head of some dirty, and moaning zombie. In the suffering there is definitely enough ammo scattered around the nice looking levels to take care of any creature that might be lurking in the darkness the story is great along with the graphics and controls. The monsters in this game are unique in design but there is only like 5 different kinds that you face thru out the game. This can make the game feel repetitive at times. One thing I should mention about this game is that it has every verbal obscenity that you can think of… from A to Z. this works well giving the game a real life feel. I mean if you had a freakin monster with machetes for arms and legs running after you, you’d be like “what the f**** is that f****ing thing?! Shoot that mother f***er!” the weapon interface is ok but can use some work. As far as being a scary game it dose have its moments but me as a man I can’t be scared…. Yeah right I had to turn the lights on a few times during game play at night. For some reason hearing a baby scream and cry wile your walking down a blood covered hall way doesn’t sit well with me. If you have played the first max payne you know what I mean (god I hated that part in max payne…). This game is a bit in the straight forward side but still fun none the less. With just a little modification the suffering has the potential to become a popular franchise. Fat props to midway.

I Bought the game on the day it came out and it hasnt left my console since. It is a very scary game when it comes down to it. It is a must have for anyone who has the Resident Evil series or The Silent Hill series in their collection.
