Good, but not as good as the first one. |
| Robin van Houwelingen from Oegstgeest, The Netherlands says (21/Jun/2004): |
First of all, I only played the single player of Pandora Tommorow so my score is based on the single player mode and not on the online mode.
I liked the original Splintercell very much and as soon as Pandora Tommorow was out I bought it. The first thing I noticed were the graphics, which were obvious been brushed up. The controls stayed almost the same, but Ubisoft made them a little easier. Sam got some new moves(not many)but there are still not enough places where you can perform these moves. For example: you'll probable use 'the split jump' not more than 4 times in the game. This was a shortcoming in the first game and still isn't solved completely. Again, the story is fantastic and the setting is well chosen (East-Timor and Indonesia). One of the best things of the game is the level design. A few missions take place outside which are beautiful and large and the ones that take place inside are very varied.
The A.I. is good and makes you attentive all the time. In most levels you can't afford to make any mistakes. Being detected during a mission can be fatal. One of the best levels must be the mission on the train, where you can climb under and up on the train and have to watch out you don't get hit by another train. Especially the end of the mission is spectacular.
Still I like part one better. First of all: I think part one is a bit harder than PT. I found it a true challenge to complete it and I found PT rather simple and I expected a more challenging last mission. Also, PT is just too short. It took me only 9 hours to complete it in comparison with the 20 (!)it took me on the original. In the original I always had the feeling of danger around every corner, which I kind of misted in PT.
Which bring it to my conclusion: Pandora Tomorrow is a exciting, breathtaking and stirring adventure and is still the best you'll find in it's genre. Yet I liked the first part better. In 2005 will Splintercell 3 appear and the first impressions of that game are outstanding.

A small Step Forward But Not A Giant Leap |
| Tony Hewitt from Nelson, England says (30/Mar/2004): |
Im still playing the game so can only comment on what i have seen so far, the graphics are big improvment to the last one with better lighting effects and the storyline is good also, i do feel like im addicted to the game playing it till the early hours trying different ways to pass the guards but a few things are missing i feel, i keep running out of ammo and get fustrated at the fact i cant just pick up the gun from the guard ive just taken out also seems that in some cases their is only one way to complete the mission which means hours re trying although that is part of the game and thier is a sence of satisfaction in finding out what the right ways is, anyway overall its a really good game and hope that ubi soft release more levels for it

Oh YEAH |
| Travis from Blaine, MN says (25/Mar/2004): |
It was a lot better then the original, a little shorter but it was still damn good. Even if you're not a fan of splinter cell, you would still be pleased with this game...Above average gaming and they did good to add the laser to the pistol.
Great job on Ubi's Behalf

AWSOME!!! |
| Miguel from Los Angeles says (2/Apr/2004): |
Once again ubisoft and company has managed to deprive me of sleep and any kind of social interaction. After playing the first installment of Tom Clancy’s SC (which I wrote a review on for this same website) I thought to myself there’s now way it can get any better then this… well guess what I was dead wrong. Pandora tomorrow is absolutely brilliant in every way. Needless to say that the sound, lighting, level design and gadgetry are tighter then ever. I’ve played the sequels to many games and never was I drawn in the second time around like I was with Pandora; it was like I played the game again for the first time. The level of intensity was much higher then the first SC. They improved on little things as well like the gadget/weapon interface is a lot tighter and you can open doors while you are caring a body. If you are a fan of the SC franchise, Tom Clancy’s, or stealthy action games it would be just plane foolish to miss out on this awesome game. The only problem I have with this game is that the third installment is not here yet. Mad ass props to UBISOFT and all those who made this game what it is!

More like SC 1.5, but hey, it IS still Splinter Cell, right? |
| Mitch from Atlanta, GA USA says (25/Mar/2004): |
The original Splinter Cell for the Xbox was an outstanding game that revolutionized the stealth action genre, and Pandora Tomorrow is an extremely capable sequel, but it really feels like more time was devoted to developing the multiplayer game than the single-player campaign. Don't get me wrong, though. PT is a great game, but I can't help but thinking that I'm playing thorugh an expansion pack for the original SC. I did love the first game, so this isn't really a problem, but I was just hoping for some kind of mind-blowing innovative graphics or gameplay like the original had. For it's time, the first SC had some of the most impressive lighting effects anyone had ever seen, and the ability to actually "hide" in the shadows was a huge step forward for gaming.
It may seem like I'm complaining, but I'm not. Even if PT was just a SC expansion pack, I'd still be the first in line to buy it. The gameplay is just as tight as ever and Sam has actually been given a few new moves to compliment his old repitoir. He can now perform a SWAT turn move from one side of a doorway to the other which allows him to remain virtually unseen. SC veterans should have no problem picking up the game and feeling comfy, but Ubi Soft still included a "train-as-you-go" type of first mission so you can get your feet wet. The graphics still look just as good as they always did, too.
I have yet to try the multiplayer game, but it looks as though that's where Ubi Soft spent the majority of it's development time. If you like stealth action games such as MGS and you,ve never tried Splinter Cell, then you really should break down and buy PT AND the first SC. If you are a fan of the original game then you should definitely buy PT. It's a great game even if it does feel like Splinter Cell 1.5. When all is said and done, it IS still Splinter Cell, right? Who cares what I say?

SCPT was kinda hard if you acaully played it unlike the people who say it was easy. |
| Toby Waugh from olive hill--ky--united states says (13/Sep/2004): |
splinter cell was hard for me because on most of the missons you couldn't get caught or the mission was over thats not fair. and half the time you can't shoot any one that's not fun. but yet i still found it interesting to play because of the fact that you had to sneak around and grab people from behind and knock them out with your 9mm and your s-20k is cool because you can shoot different things out of it. And the main thing was when you are in a big battle not because you die to fast.

Fisher...You Are Paid To Be Invisible |
| Matt Lothian from British Columbia, Canada says (25/Oct/2004): |
In the Jerusalem level, it gets very hard. I have spent the last 2 days trying to get thru this level. I am at the part where you have to repel down the wall after following Dahlia for while. For some reason I cannot get thru it without somehow being seen...eventhough I am still in the shadows. It is a really frustrating time. As others have said, it gets more annoying to go thru all the same steps time and time again. For the next game, I hope they include a save point anytime. It only makes the game more fun!

Absolutely the best game I've ever played |
| Sam from Freemont CA,USA says (29/Dec/2004): |
SC-PT is the best game ever literaly! When i was playing with my friend we found a bunch of ways to past each lv. The graphics quality is outstanding! sound kinda kinda makes me tence. but who cares that just adds to the reality of the game! the gameplay is graet to. an all new arsenal of wepons and gadjets realy kicks staelth games up a notch! this game actualy is like a new one and not a sequel. SC was actualy not bad but PT is exceptional! what kinda bores me is that guards kick your but with just 3- shots. only that factor adds to fun and challenge. I liked SC-PT so much becouse of the repeat value andwhen i played with my friend we both got a kick out of the suspence the action and the raw ability to just shoot, snipe,KO,Break necks, sneak, whistle, interrogate, and last but deffinetly not least the different visions u have! heat, night, and normal!
This game seemed like an Xbox inside a PS2. Just a blast to play! oh and for all those people who play splinter cell pandora tommorrow as a fun game............................................................................................................................... Annoy Lambert,Grimsodder, and Brundon as much as possible! Oh and try MY move that I made up!
Move-Pea shooter
Times- Multiplayer/Mine Field
first climb up high and jump ontop of a guard or oponent. Then shoot the other onto a mine. Instead of landing on the guard or oponent you could as i prefer shoot number.1 into number.2 carrying them -both- into the mine feild! u r now free to walk past whistling.
P.S
...Dont whistle...

Stealth Action the Way it's Supposed to be! |
| Brandon from Maryland, USA says (7/Apr/2006): |
Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow is definitely one of the best stealth action games that I have ever played. The story is great and the full game includes a great deal of action and intensity. The graphics are also very well done and the extras added on from the original put the sprinkles on this delicious banana split.
To begin with, the games graphics are slick and give you the sense that you are actually Sam Fisher, a very stealthy government agent, also known as a Splinter Cell. The shadows in the game are shown very well, which is definitely an important aspect of gameplay, and all of the environents and character models look smooth and quite realistic. The sounds are also very good and help to promote that feeling of realism that the game evokes.
The level design of Pandora Tomorrow is also a plus to the games value. You are constantly moving through the level and there is hardly any backtracking that needs to be done throughout, although there are some points in the game where you may have to go around a level a couple of times before you finally find out what it is exactly that you are supposed to be doing. To cut back on times like these, you have an objective list that comes in very handy, but that still doesn't necessarily mean that you won't have this problem.
Another problem I have found with Pandora Tomorrow is that you can only save at save points and not whenever you want to, which can become very annoying because you will find yourself playing parts of a level over and over again before you finally get to the next checkpoint. If you find that you probably won't be able to look over this problem, you could get the PC version of Pandora Tomorrow, which does in fact have a save anywhere feature.
One thing added to Pandora Tomorrow that definitely makes the game less frustrating is the addition of the binoculars, which can be used at any time. This means that you don't need your SC-20K to stalk from a distance anymore.
Speaking of the SC-20K, you still get to enjoy the use of the extremely purposeful machine gun and and also your silenced pistol. You can also sneak up behind enemies and put your pistol to their head and either make them talk or silence them with a whack to the side of the head. Another option is also to simply run up behind one of your enemies and sandwich their head in beteween Sam's elbow and hand.
Something else that puts Pandora Tomorrow above it's predecessor is the inclusion of the whistle button. If you need to attract an enemy's attention, just push the whistle button and they will most certainly hear you and come to check it out. If there is something lying around however, there are certain things like debris and garbage that can be thrown to attract attention in another direction besides Sam's.
As I said before, shadows are very important to gameplay in Pandora Tomorrow and a great thing in the game is that you can shoot out lights. If you find that there is too much light around for you to get from point A to point B, just shoot out some lights with your pistol or SC-20K until you feel that you can move without being seen. Shooting out lights is another thing that gives you a feeling of realism, as with a lot of the Tom Clancy games.
Of course, Sam has a lot of cool abilities that help him thorughout the game, such as hanging from pipes, climbing pipes and ladders, strafing walls, split jumping in small alleyways, etc. These add to the overall enjoyment and satisfaction of the game. They make you feel like you really are in Sam Fisher's boots, not to mention they give you an advantage over your enemies.
As you can see, Tom Clancy's Splinter Cell: Pandora Tomorrow has very good graphics and extras apart from the original that make it even better. Don't forget to add in the great storyline and nonstop action and you have yourself a game that everyone should have. Pandora Tomorrow is definitely one of the best stealth action games out there and I would have a hard time not recommending it to any gamer.

An Easy Game |
| A gamer from California says (2/Apr/2004): |
SCPT was a good game but it was kind of easy.SCPT online is a good experienceto face other people. When I first played SC I knew there was going to be a second one.I have beaten the game in 5 days. It was kind of hard for me but i beat it.

stealth game lite |
| A gamer from loveland, co, usa says (1/Apr/2004): |
SC2 is indeed fun, and the graphics are amazing, but anyone who has played thief 1 & 2 might be dissapointed in how extremely linear and scripted this game is. There is nothing "revolutionary" at all about either SC 1 or 2: stealth games were doing everything thing this game does years ago. The big difference, besides the great graphics, is that unlike other stealth games that allow you to come up with your own solution, SC is strictly linear. There is usually one way and only one way to get from point a to b. For instance, while making your way down a train, you have to crawl under the train one car but need to climb along the side of another. If you want to climb outside any other car you will find that the strategically place pipe that allowed you to crawl out the previous car is no longer there, inexplicably.
Some people will point out that you can either sneak past a guard or knock him out: that's not the kind of variety and freedom that I'm referring to, which is barely any at all. You still have to go down a particular alley and only that alley. A race track has more variations than most of the levels in this game. And since you cannot save at will but only at check points, you will inevitably reload several times until you discover the mandated way of doing things for the particular puzzle at hand.
Nevertheless, it is nice eye-candy and entertaining enough for a few hours.
