Listen up: 2k5 was a sick game. espn has done it again. it has successfully created another balls-to-the-walls sports game for all us lazy bastards to waste our lives playing. But I wont lie , i enjoy it quite a bit.
First off, the graphics in this game are far from disappointing. the players are realistically modeled according to their real life statures and move/play somewhat atleast like they do in real life. of course there are exceptions, like when i take edgerrin james and juke/shoulder charge 7 guys for the touchdown. literally. all you madden geeks would say "ooh no you cant do that in real life thast gay." well first off madden geeks, ive played your game, (madden 05), and i wouldnt use its instructional manual to wipe my ass. every player, big or small, can juke and sidestep like 10 feet per jump. if you want to complain about realism, tell the makers of madden not to cross-breed every nfl player with a kangaroo and see if we get better gaming. second of all, if you had a shoulder-charge, you would use it too.
as little as some poeple like to admit, no one would play a football game if it were completely realistic. run plays would be too quick, pass plays wouldnt be as deep, and the general fun factor would take a nose-dive into the crapper. 2K5 keeps a fun sense of gameplay while not crossing that fine line of absurd player capabilities.
this will lead me next to gameplay, which i have briefly brushed upon already. gameplay is fun and semi-realistic, but obviously it becomes more unrealistic the more you play and get better at it. i myself have devoted countless sleep-deprived nights to perfecting run plays and jukes, and you would think my boy Edgerrin has got a 4x4 system somewhere in that body of his. while gameplay is usually fun, playing a team that is actually rated better than you or setting the difficulties higher can become annoying. if youre no good at the game to begin with , that is. now i myself play better teams at a slightly higher difficulty, and in all honesty i couldve lost my entire sanity, or whats left of it that is, observing how much harder it is this way. sometimes it is just literally impossible. on legendary mode i took pretty much the best offense against the worst defense and couldnt get within the red zone even. so this game is no pushover.
the lifespan of this game has been surprisingly long. i just havnt gotten completely sick of it yet. ive even tried to snap the disc out of anger once and it still didnt break. its great for having friends over, especially madden geeks, and showing them what a real football game plays like.
so all in all, get this game right now. right after youre done reading this. its a shame you havnt already its like 3 dollars used according to what it said at the top of the price, and for 3 dollars id almost buy madden. i got it a long time ago new for 20 dollars so its not like its gonna be hard to get. fun game, fun times. for all you madden geeks who complain about it being unrealistic, get off your asses and play some real football then.

This is going to be the best game of the year!!
Lets start out with the graphics. ESPN NFL 2K5 has graphics that are simply unbelivable. As you start the game you see fans dressed with various home team items such ans the number one hands, painted faces and most of the people have differant patterns of paint on the face. The players have clean unwrinkled uniformas and there helmets reflect the stadium lights. As the game rolls on, you see the uniforms become dirty,grass stained, and wrinkled. The staidiums are flawless. Playing this game makes you fell as if your in the game or at worst on the sideline.
moving on to presentation
The real live presentation ESPN NFL 2K5 has is just like your watching your home teams game on espn. The comintators are funny,emotional, and even helpful telling you how the D is set up and stuff. Very good presentation
GAMEPLAY
very realistic game play. The players move as the do in real life. Your not going to run a kcik back for a touchdown with you line backer, but if you have daunte hall then your chances are much better. I have found no bugs in the game while playing on or offline. However I did get screwed in double overtime with 3 minutes to go, i sacked the dudes QB for a safety and the reff called the ball at the one yard line. Like in football you can challenge the spot of teh ball, and i used all my timeouts so i could do nothing to challenge!
Any way that is all my time, and i have to go but for $20.00 you have nothing to loose even if you hate football. An outstanding game..the features are fantastic, and there is nothing bad i can say about this game. If you rone of the people waiting for madden, I recomend your go to the store and pick up a copy of ESPN NFL 2K5 and stop waiting.

All in all, this is a really cool game. I've been a die-hard Madden fan for six or seven years now, and wasn't planning on buying 2K5 because I really didn't like 2K4. But, the price was right, and I've got to say that they really punched this one in. There are certainly some improvements that need to be made, but nothing they can't address in 2K6. First, the players change direction very awkwardly. When you're running you can only cut at like a 45 degree angle, Madden does a much better job with this. You can't change player's positions. This sucks because sometimes you'd like to move an outside LB to DE or other similar moves. The pregame preparation is a bit tedious. It seems like you can throw the deep ball unbelieveably well. I've played one whole season on the hardest possible level and Laverneous(sorry if I mis-spelled this Laverneous) Coles has like 2500 receiving yards and a 30ypc average. Relatively speaking, these are pretty trivial complaints. This game's graphics are out of this world. The player animations are so real, and the presentation is amazing. I really don't know if I'll buy Madden though at this point. Before I played 2K5, I had the Madden release date marked on my calendar, now I just don't know if $50 is worth shelling out for a game that may not be as good.

NFL 2k5 is probably the best football game ever. I am not a huge gamer, I have limited time to to fire up the Xbox in my busy life, but this game is worth waiting for. I have played Madden for years and have tried some of the "lesser" titles, but when I saw that this game was being released at $20, well, I just couldn't resist!
The graphics a flawless, and the moves are superior. In the "old days" a player would be "takled" if they ran into an oposing player...not any more! The running is superb, running backs bounce off tacklers, balls actually bounce off receivers, and can be caught in mid bounce *nice*. The best thing is the small tweaks in the interface. You are able to make DB mods, and route changes in game. Madden can't do that!
Probably the best feature is the Chris Berman halftime/postgame report featuring instant replays of the game highlights, and interviews with the player of the game. Amazing!
All this for $20?!? I hope ESPN sells 3 million of these and Madden gets a good kick in the pants (as well as other developers). Ithink that ESPN has set a precendent here with the $20 game, Xboxers should demand the same quality and price in ALL gaming titles...lets see if the developers hear our cry!

The 2k series has always been better than Madden in my opinion. Even though 2k5 is a huge step up in presentation and eye candy it took a step down in control and playability. For example you use to be able to take control of a defensive back and cover a wideout with the chance to pick the ball, but they have taken that out. You can't cut on a dime anymore and if you use a special move it is an invitation for a fumble. Even though the announcers are good and at times entertaining they are still no names and it hurts the presentation. It may sound like I don't like this game. That is not true and I definitely think its better than Madden. I just want them to give me more control of my players and moves. When I'm 10 yards from any one I don't like it when a Defensive tackle ketches me. If I want to play man to man and take control of a defensive back I want to do so and not have the ball carom off my hands when I push the ketch button. When I do a special move I want to have confidence in it to work. You have to understand about me and my love hate relationship with this game it is been the best game to me sense its inception but I like what I like in a game and I expect more out of the ones I favor.

First things first I'm a huge foot ball fan. I've been playing foot ball video games since tecmo bowl on the old Nintendo. Madden has always been top notch when it comes to football and will continue to be. But... I must admit ESPN 2K5 is the real deal. The graphic are so real at times you may think you watching Sunday night foot ball. the game play is fluid. I've been playing the game on PRO mode and I destroyed the NY giants with the Patriots 45-7 but when I played as Colts against the KC I won in OT 21-14. Needless to say this game is realistic If you have a great defensive team it will show. The 1st person mode is mind blowing but learn the buttons and the moves before you try it. Just think on 1st person you have a foot ball helmet on your head so you cant see who's coming behind you.. I will still buy madden to compare them for my self. In close ESPN 2K5 is a fun game and has a ton of re-play value and at 20.00 bucks its really a must have, do your self a favor buy this game.

I just got espn nfl 2k5 today and this game is the best football game made this year. The graphics are better than madden games, also the sound for this game is great. You get clear picture and really rich sound. The gameplay for this game is so easy to figure out the controls are so simple. If you really a fan of espn than this game you will like if you dont like espn games than go with madden. Also in this game you get to play with diffrent celbreties like steve-o, Jamie Kenedy,and alt of other celebs to play with. You also still have the crib to play along with. The greatest thing about this game is the espn presentation the graphics are so rich it really looks like you are watching Espn. Also it is only 20$ to buy. So grab a copy of ESPN NFL 2K5 for xbox or ps2.

Man I have only one thing to say about this game........wow! Ive ben playing this series since 2k1. I didnt really like the game but when 2k4 came out my friend brought it over and I bought the game the very next day. The game was much better than madden.The runs,blocking,passing,graphics, and the hitting. The Crib is awesome. Whats funner than making a crib thats probably worth 100,000 and you only have to pay $19.99. This game is so cool ive spent 46:00 hours on it. 2K5 is the best football game ive ever played

this blows madden away with its graphics and gameplay.you wont see madden having a crib mode would you they dont have an nfl countdown.all they have is the game itself.to me if i just played a game that was only a game i would flip out.i hate games like that.another cool thing is the mini games.the air hockey game is great.(hint: get the code that unlocks all the crib items so you can play it.)also, it is only 20 bucks.madden is 50.im stickin with espn from now on even if it is 50 bucks after this year.

This game if off the hizzle fo shizzle my dizzle.It makes Madden look like poop. Graphics are awsome, Gameplay is real. Its so good Some times i pick two teams and i let the computer play its like watching a game on espn. Half time show is great sportscenter is awsome on a scale from 1-10 this game is 100. Theres nothing wrong with it. Sorry John Madden but if for the years to come this games gets better your franchise is going down. The sound is great. Sorry i have to go play this game.

Espn NFL 2K5 is awesome! Like many of you out there, i was once a fan of ea sport's madden series. But this year since the game is out earlier and the price was 20 bucks who can resist? So i bought and i must tell you this game is off the hook. the graphics are fantastic and the gameplay is mmore real then madden. This year if your looking for a great football game for 30 $ cheaper ESPN NFL 2K5 is the game to buy.

This is the best Football game to get. Dont get Madden that game is a rip off for 49.99. Where as ESPN is only 20.00. Dont get Madden it stinks. Trust me I have had the game for almost a month and I am still addicted. Plus winning the superbowl is awesome plus the pregame show halftime, and postgame show are awesome. What show does Madden offer? DONT GET MADDEN GET ESPN, THE WORLD WIDE LEADER IN SPORTS.

Control of the player is better than Madden. Passing and running is more realistic to the real thing. Man! is the graphics good! I've played this game since 2K and I got hooked. Every year it gets even better looking and game play even beter. Much better than Madden's 10 year old controls and 16bit player moves. The price is the price games should be $20!

The Title of this review says it all, this game is amazing. It was better than the videos,screenshots showed...Amazing... The New Franchise additions are fun, I love how you can set all the practices and team meets. and the New Crib stuff is cool. Get This Game I Higher Recommend it, It's way worth more than 19.99.

This game is a $49.99 game that sells for 19.99$. The crib is new and improved just like the graphics. Chris Berman's NFL Countdown etc. is cool also. This is a must have for any sports freaks. You would be crazy not to buy this game if it was 49.99$ let alone 20$.
